Videos transcoded but wont show on video list!!!

help pls!! I have a Black 60g and ive transcoded a few videos and successfully put them on my ipod and work fine but some other videos that i transcoded, wont even go on my list?!?! i open up the folder and for some reason, some videos wont go on my list. Can someone help me pls!! thank you in advance!

from my experience that means ythe video has not been properly converted into a suitable format for ipod. try using a different software to convert the video. i use pq dvd to ipod and ver had problems with it. below is a guide on how to use pq dvd to ipod if you choose to use it

Video connects but only shows local preview, not buddy

May be coincidence, but, ever since going to 10.5.6 on other Intel machines I have, this G5 machine will not show buddy video feed. I only see my feed. It takes the whole video window, not just the usual smaller preview in a corner. Audio works as expected. The 10.5.6 Intel machines seem to work normally. Connection doctor shows that video is being received and connection is 100%, I just cannot see buddy feed. Buddy's see me, I don't see them.

I am using iChat 4.0.7 on a G4/1Ghz Dual with no problems.
I see you are using an External iSight.
The Update for the camera was included in an OS update that followed the initial Firmware Update which means that it has been done.
(you can check in System Profiler > Hardware > Firewire and click on the iSight to bring up the Driver info and the like)
IS the Camera daisychained with anything ?
The iSight External doe not run at 400Mbps and will be effected by faster data streaming to other devices that are faster like Drives.

Videos from websites wont show up....not sure if this is the right forum.

Videos wont show up from any websites.
The place where a video would be just isnt there.
Music from myspace will not play as well.
Any suggestions?

I experienced the same thing with my Safari after the 10.4.11 upgrade. However, the following procedure worked for me:
Go to - System Preferences > QuickTime
then click on the 'Streaming' tab. Make sure the Enable Instant-On is checked. Set it to Play immediately. Re-start Safari. Videos should now work.
Somehow after the upgrade, the streaming setting on my safari was set to a long delay. Thats probably why the video wasn't showing.

that's expected behavior. the Touch doesn't support disk mode so would, by default, not show up in "my computer".

I assume your new iMac is an Intel one, is this correct? Did you start out with the drive on the new iMac? Did you format it on the new iMac? Not sure if something like this could be the cause of problems or not.

P.S. I see that you said that you did reformat it in the iMac. There are differences in formatting an HD with an Intel Mac vs. a PPC Mac. I don't know which Mac you should use to format the HD to have the best interoperability between the Intel and PPC Macs. I'm not really up on the specifics, hopefully someone else is. Meanwhile you could do a search of the discussions.
P.S.S. You could consider using Firewire Target Disk Mode to transfer files to your new iMac. This would bypass the peripheral FW HD totally.

IPod touch full but wont show music or videos

I just downloaded itunes 10 and threw a bunch of movies onto my ipod. I went to go watch them today at work and it says there is no video and no music on my ipod. but when i look at General>About> there are no songs no videos but there is only 178 mb avail on a 16gb ipod. so the Ipod is full but nothing is showing up. any ideas?

Here's what I've noticed with my 2nd generations iPod Touch since upgrading to iOS 4.
I'll download some new content, a couple of podcasts let's say. iTunes shows that I have nine (9) unplayed podcasts. I'll manually tell iTunes to sync the changes to my iPod but when that process completes, I'll notice that the iPod only shows eight (8) podcast present on the device. So I manually tell iTunes to sync again, this time the missing podcast gets transferred to the device and now iTunes and the iPod Touch both show that they have nine (9) podcasts.
But there's a problem. Before manually sync'ing the first time, iTunes says that there is .19 GB of "Other" content on my iPod Touch. After manually sync'ing the second time however, that number grows to .29 GB.
So here's what I think is happening. The podcast that didn't sync the first time gets trapped on the device as "other" content because its transfer during the first sync process fails. Now that space isn't recovered on the iPod Touch device unless you "restore" your device. Not good! I think a bug needs a killing.

Stuff on my iphone like pdf's and videos show on the phone but wont show in my library on my new pc, even after sync

i have a new pc when i connect my iphone to itunes it syncs ok but things like pdf's and videos will not go to my itunes library. They show up on the phone though ? when i downloaded itunes to my new pc all my purchased stuff was there but nothing else. Hope ther is a way to get them onto my library again.

Try File-Sharing. Go to that app on iTunes, scroll down and it should show the stufff you downloaded from your iPhone. Save it to your computer and then find that location of where the files are saved, then add it to your itunes and then sync.

Video is in right format but wont show up in library Help!

this has been making me mad i downloaded a movie and it plays and every thing then i put it in mpeg-4 format and it want so up in the library when i drag it over there. it wont even work when i use Quick Time Pro.

I downgraded flash to 10.3 and it fixed the problem. Everything works fine now. I suggest everyone do this until Adobe releases a fix for 11.7.

Front Row in Leopard 'sees' DVD Video TS but wont play t ;-/

Ok this was a surprise but Front Row now sees Video TS folders, correctly then says opening DVD player then after a minute or so says there is an error press play/pause to exit Front Row...
So nearly there... anyoone else getting it to play Video_TS ?
or is this a not there yet feature...

This is great! I have an external hard drive with all my ripped VIDEO_TS folders on it. It is connected to my Airport Extreme and on the network via Airdisk for sharing. The disk is called "DVDz". I made an alias of the disk and placed it in my Movies folder. For each movie on your disk, first create a folder with the name of the movie, e.g. "Gladiator". In the "Gladiator" movie folder, place a jpeg of the movie cover named "Cover" and a folder called "DVD". In that that "DVD" folder, place the VIDEO_TS folder. If you nest the folders in this fashion, the new Front Row in Leopard will browse your movies and show the cover. Hook up to a projector and 5.1 sound system and you have your Apple HTPC solution. Videos Transfer, but no show when iPod unplugged

I have some videos that I have made iPod ready using Quicktime Pro,for example the entire first season of Venture Brothers or home movies. When I put them onto my ipod, they show up on the ipod in iTunes, yet when I detach from the computer, I can't find them at all on the ipod. In the case of the Venture Brothers, half of them showed up in the "Movies" section, not in a subcatagory in the TV SHOWS section as I had anticipated. So :
1. Where are my videos?
2. Why are only half of some showing up at all?
Update : I Restored the software, and now one is showing up that wasnt before, but only when it's in the Movies catagory, not any others ?????

Apple doesn't allow you to categorize movies as TV Shows and transfer them to the iPod, but it will work in iTunes. If you realy can't live without them being categorized as TV Shows there is a program called AtomicParsely.

Videos Converted, but wont sync

I own a 60 GB iPod Video. I love it--I think the video quality is stunning, and I absolutely love the ability to plug it into a TV anywhere and view whatever I want.
Copying my DVD collection using HandBrake to my iPod was a breeze (besides the time commitment). It works great, and I love that I'm now carrying that collection in my pocket.
I've had a lot of success converting movies from DiVX (.avi) to iPod Video using Quicktime Pro 7.0.3, but I've also encountered one oddity:
Occasionally I will import a video that I've just converted using QT Pro into iTunes, and, although it plays in iTunes, it gives me the generic message that it is not supported on the iPod. I know that it is the same format (initially as well as after the conversion) as the other files I'm applying the conversion to.
Has anyone else encountered this problem?

Crashing does sound unusual. However, be advised that even if you are able to convert and save a file, there will not be any audio track on the new file. Muxed audio/video file types (MPEG1, MPEG2, VOB, etc.) require a third party application that first extracts the audio and video data and creates and intermediate file containing separate audio and video tracks which QT Pro (or a QT tools based application) can then convert to your target file type.
