Videos won't play in iPhoto since installing Lion

Ever since i installed Lion the video clips stored in iPhoto will not play when double clicked.  I have to drag them out of iphot to the desktop and then double click them for quicktime to play them?  Never had this problem before installing Lion.  HELP!

Wake95,
Are you in the event browser or are you in the actual event itself? If you have the event open, then the video will play if you double click it. Also, are you sure that they are in a movie file format that QuickTime understands?
Hope this helps,
O.C.

  • Pages '09 won't open Word documents since installing Lion

Since installing Lion I can no longer open Word documents. I get the following window
My intel iMac is just a year old and all software is current, both Lion and Pages.  If I transfer the word documents to my 4 year old Macbook running the same Pages and Snow Leopard the files open as they should.  Can anyone suggest a solution.  I would be very grateful.  Thanks.

That's what I have done, but then I am a long term Apple user and wised up years ago.

That does sound like you are simply double clicking on the exported .doc file which will open Word.

I installed Lion on an external Hard Drive so I could still get my work done in Snow Leopard.

  • Videos won't play in iPhoto now that Snow Leopard is there

I am finding one thing after another that won't work with Snow Leopard -- my fonts, my trackpad, and now my iPhoto videos. When I double-click on the videos, they no longer open in QuickTime or do anything, they won't play. Any suggestions? (Uninstall Snow Leopard?)
    Thanks in advance.

This is a known glitch between earlier versions of iPhoto and 10.6. The solution is to install QuickTime 7. It's on the Snow Leopard installer disk.

  • Videos won't play in iPhoto

I'm on Mac OS 10.6.8 and on iPhoto 7.1.5.  Quick Time no longer opens when I select a video to watch.  Nothing happens.  Anyone have a solution?

Do you have Quicktime Player 7 installed?  If not download and install it from here: QuickTime Player 7.6.6 for Mac OS X v10.6.3.  Then launch iPhoto and try again.

  • Videos won't play after upgrading to ios7.1

Everything worked fine under ios7.0.4 and previous ios versions but videos won't play on YouTube or Facebook since upgrading to ios7.1. This is true for my ipad 4 and my wife's iPad mini. I have tried resets and reboots but did not help. May try to reinstall 7.0.4 unless someone has other ideas. All help appreciated.

You won't be able to install 7.0.4.
I have no problems playing YouTube videos on my iPad 4 or iPhone 5 using iOS 7.1.

  • Videos won't play on CBS, Fox, or NBC

    Hello!
For the last 48 hours I've been trying to watch Gotham on Fox.com from my iMac (21.5-inch, Mid 2010)...no good.  I was just watching it earlier this week, and for some reason when I try now it only has a black window (no error message).  Videos won't play for me on NBC.com, Fox.com, or CBS.com on neither Chrome nor Safari nor Firefox.  Randomly, ABC.com DOES work across all fronts.
    Here is what I've tried:
    -Restarting computer
    -Refreshing constantly
    -Reinstalling Chrome / Firefox
    -Making sure Flash was updated
-Clearing all website data / caches / extensions
I even right clicked on the blank Fox video page, selected "Global Settings," and cleared all Local Storage Settings for Flash.  NOTHING!  I'm even starting to wonder if my roommate sabotaged my computer...that's how desperate I am on ideas.
    Best,

Your videos play in iPhoto and they don't as well?
There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 9 different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary depending on the version of iPhoto and the version of the OS. So to get help you need to give as much information as you can. Include things like:
    - What version of iPhoto.
    - What version of the Operating System.
    - Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For example, if you have a problem with exporting, then explain by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.
    - History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted? - Are there error messages?
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
    - Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto?
Anything else you can think of that might help someone understand the problem you have.

  • Videos won't play in any browser

Just recently, videos won't play in any browser...Safari, Firefox. etc. It seems to happen with .wmv files. I reinstalled media player, but still have the problem.
    I get this message.
"Cannot open the file. Verify that the path and filename are correct and try again"

First, check that Windows Media Player is set as the correct plug in - in Safari, go to help/installed plug ins. There should be a section marked 'Windows Media Player' showing 'application/x-mplayer2' and listing wmv files (amongst others).
Sometimes these arrors are caused by DNS failures. Ensure your system is fully up to date, and enter your ISP's DNS server IP addresses (usually two of them, sometimes three) in the 'DNS servers' box on the TCP page of the Network preference pane.
The DNS server IPs are usually supplied with the ISP's initial set up documentation, or located on the ISP's help page.
The reason it could be a problem is that in many iterations of MacOS X, the system is extremely sensitive to how quickly a DNS search responds. DNS is the process whereby a user-provided URL is converted into the correct IP address for internet lookup, so if the video source is held on a different server and the DNS process doesn't return a valid IP address in time, you would then get an error of the sort you describe.

  • My videos won't play in my itunes

my videos won't play in my itunes- just blank and no sound but running like it was playing something

  • Video won't play in IE

My video won't play in IE/Windows though it works fine in

exactly what I need to do to get it to work? (I can tell that
Dreamweaver doesn't like the way it's coded, but letting
Dreamweaver fix it doesn't make it work.) Thanks.

I think it's your specific browser player problem. It works
    here on every IE

  • After automatically updated to Firefox 3.6.15 videos won't play properly

Recently when firefox was automatically updated to 3.6.15 suddenly videos won't play properly anymore. Vidxden videos used to play really well but now they don't load properly or not at all. All the other videos take forever to load and don't seem to be compatible anymore. I usually go to the same video sites and those don't work like they used to. I've noticed as well that hotmail is really slow and many pages won't load at all including windows live web site. It doesn't appear that 3.6.15 is very compatible with video play or msn sites.

Since automatic update to 3.6.15, I am unable to play videos on abc.com, and even on my News Feed page in Facebook. The error message says the video is being blocked by an ad blocker in my browser. I have not changed my security settings, nor have I updated any other software recently.
By the way, I did check the same videos (at abc.com and on Facebook) with Internet Explorer (same computer) and they played just fine.

  • Sometimes my videos won't play, unless I reboot

Often, when I just put my Mac to sleep, when I wake it up, videos won't play.  I have reinstalled Flash, but it still happens.  Any ideas?  Seems only to happen since the last upgrade to Mac OS X 10.7.3 Lion (11D50b)(Processor 3.2 GHz Intel Core i3 4GB 1333 MHz Ram)

Wimp.com, youtube, bliptv.  I don't think anything works.  To be specific, they play for about 2 secs, continue to load, but stop playing.

I have video's and music video clips in itunes that will not play properly. there is audio. but green and orange lines on visual??I have synchronized with my ipod and these video's play perfectly . but still not in itunes????
    can any one help?

So, the videos won't play properly in iTunes, but play properly on the iPod?
Make sure you have the latest version of Quicktime installed (http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/).
If that doesn't work, try going through the steps in this article: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303706.
Video playback can be messed up by a lot of different things. That article covers a lot of them.

Does anyone know what may be causing this problem?
    Thank you

Unless you held down the Command key when dragging the iPhoto Library package to the flash drive you only copied the library.  How is the flash drive formatted?  If it was not OS X Extended (journaled) the integrity of the library's internal structure was probably compromised.
If you don't have a current backup of your library do the following:
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down to open the First Aid window. Be sure to follow the circled recommendation in the screenshot.
    2 - run Option #4, Rebuild Database.

Your registration of these products at Adobe does not mean that the products are activated on your computer.
    Let us focus the following
Now I have a new problem. Once I removed and re-installed Elements 12, I now get a message that my trial period has expired. What do I do about that? Now I can't even use Elements.
Based on prior history with this type of issue, there should be an option to "license this product" on the message. You say that there is not. There are 3 possible routes to take
    1. Contact Adobe via its Adobe Chat who specializes in product activation. You would click on the following link
    http://helpx.adobe.com/contact.html?product=premiere-elements&topic=serial-number-issues-o r-activating-my-product
Once the link opens, click on the statement in the link "I still need help" in order to bring up the Adobe Chat.
    2. You could post a screenshot of the message that you are getting to see if we can detect anything in the message that we are overlooking.
    3. You could go through the uninstall, ccleaner, reinstall drill again, with the reinstall with anti-virus and firewalls off.
We will work on the Elements Organizer 12 when the above is resolved.
    You wrote
All I know is that these very same files played in the PSE11 organizer and the thumbnails were visible.
Remember we are dealing with Elements Organizer 12 and not 11 in your specific computer environment. So nothing is to be taken for granted as we rule in and out factors to get at the core of the matter.
    Thanks.
