Vidoes won't play in ipod

Hello, I posted this a week or so ago.. have tried totally restoring my ipod and re-loading everything.. now all my videos appear in the right place.. but I can't view any of them, or new vodcasts since restoring.. or any podcasts either come to think of it..
Feel like I'm going backwards here..
Prev post:
Hello, I've downloaded various videos and vodcasts from the itunes store. Never had any problem viewing them before.
About a week ago, I plugged my ipod into a different laptop for charging and now the ipod no longer brings up lists of movies etc under that menu. (I've charged the ipod on several different pcs before without any trouble)
The ones I've downloaded are still there on my ipod, but now it thinks they are music, not videos. I've tried dragging and dropping the files back into movies, but it hasn't helped.
If I can't access them through the movie menu, I can only play the sound as a music file.
Any idea how I can see them as videos again?
I've got the 30gb ipod which was out last xmas and am using windows.
Thanks, Rach

I had that exact same problem the other day. I was manually managing everything and just out of nowhere after plugging into my PC, Itunes felt it necessary to do a full gapless scan for the second time and my videos disappeared and relocated themselves under Music. I tried everything under the sun and searched for an answer online...nothing.
I fully restored my Ipod and went from manual to auto sync (which I personally don't like, but was willing to try). It's fixed now...hopefully it stays that way. You might try changing your Ipod management to auto if you haven't already.
Good luck!

    Try the standard fixes:
    - Reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory defaults/new iPod.

  • Video podcasts won't play, cause ipod to freeze

    Hi there,
My 5.5g ipod won't play video podcasts. I've downloaded several different ones, made sure the "TV Out" is turned off, and played with several other settings, all to no avail. When I open one from the video>video podcasts menu, the screen goes black, sometimes it says "Loading" with the little "play" arrow in the top left corner, and that's all I get. It freezes, and I have to reset.
I've also tried restoring the ipod to factory conditions, which didn't work. The podcasts play in iTunes, so that's not the problem.
    This thread
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=8969818&#8969818
also seems to describe my problem, but I can't find a solution there.
Anybody have any ideas for how to fix this? Thanks!

It's up to the producers of the podcast whether they make their video podcasts iPod compatible or not. It's certainly not a requirement for an iTunes Podcast feed which is, perhaps, unfortunate. You could try sending the producer feedback but even if they take any notice it won't affect podcasts you've already downloaded. The *Make iPod compatible version* rarely works (somthing to do with whether audio & video are separate or multiplexed to start with). I suggest you download SUPER which is capable of converting almost anything to an iPod version. You have to navigate through a bunch of links before you get to the actual download, but it is there - just ignore the links to other commercial software on the way, SUPER is free.

PS. On my current setup SUPER generates the odd error message while running but still produces a working output file...

  • New iTunes album won't play on iPod

I just bought a new album from iTunes (The Decemberists "Long Live the King" EP), and it won't play on my iPod.  It shows up there, and it plays in iTunes on my computer, but my iPod won't play any of the songs.  Help?

Fixed.  Deauthorized and reauthorized my computer, plus fiddled with where the files were stored.  Something worked.  Whew.

  • Mpeg - 4 videos won't play on ipod classic

I have several movies I've created in mpeg-4 and they won't copy to my iPod classic because it says the format isn't supported. Guess I don't understand since they are supposed to play on an iPod classic.

try to make sure that the bitrate and resolution is suitable for playing on iPod.
the general limits which the iPod carry.
    H.264 video, up to 1.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per sec., Low-Complexity version of the H.264 Baseline Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48 kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats; H.264 video, up to 768 Kbps, 320 by 240 pixels, 30 frames per sec., Baseline Profile up to Level 1.3 with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48 kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats;
    MPEG-4 video, up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per sec., Simple Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48 kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats;
Try to lower the bitrate and resolution, maybe this will help.
if this still doesn't work, try another video to iPod video converter instead.

  • Purchased songs and videos won't play on iPod

new 5th gen iPod shows songs and videos purchased from itunes onto computer and synched into ipod library, but won't play them. songs loaded from cd play fine on ipod.

Usually when this happes, the software on the ipod os not up to date.
whe nyou connect the ipod to the computer and the ipod shows in itunes under devices, click the update or restore button to the right in the summary screen so itunes can check online to see if there is an updated version of the ipod software online.
If you update first and that does not work, try the restore.

  • Itunes vidoes won't play smoothly on my laptop. I have installed latest updates of itunes. How can i fix this.

Itunes movies and tv shows that i purchase won't play smoothly on my laptop even after installing updates. Not sure what the problem is.

What you provided is not everything mentioned.
Your Mac is running 10.5.8 or later and iTunes 10?
You are connecting the iPad direct to a USB port on your Mac and you have tried every port?
You have reinstalled the Apple Mobile Device Service?
If your Mac is running Snow Leopard - 10.6, have you checked this link?

  • Greys Anatomy and Desperate Housewives Starter kit won't play on iPod

My wife downloaded both starter kits for these tv shows. They both play in iTunes but neither will play on iPod Touch 2.1.
It say's it's not the right format for the ipod

I've had this issue too! If you skip to the next song in the playlist, and then press Play, the music should begin playing through the speaker as it used to. Not sure why, but it only happens on my iPod classic and doesn't happen on my iPhone 5, former 4S or iPad. Strange!

  • Songs Purchased from iTunes Won't Play on iPod

I purchased some songs from iTunes. They play perfectly fine on my computer through iTunes. However, when I disconnect my iPod from my computer and try to listen to those songs with my headphones or in my car through my iTrip, my iPod just skips over those songs and goes to the next song in the shuffle. Or when I try to play the whole album, it'll show 1, then 2, then 3, and so on...it skips through the whole album then ends up at the main screen without playing a single song. I've tried deauthorizing/reauthorizing my computer, I've restored my iPod many times, I've cleared my library and restored it with my backup files, I've uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes, I tried using an old updater to get the previous iPod software, but that doesn't play vidoes, and I've done all of the above on three different USB ports.
I've called Tech Support many times and they keep telling me the same thing and nothing works.
So, I finally made my way into traffic-congested Tysons Corner to the nearest Apple Store and all the guy could tell me was that the file was corrupted and to re-download my purchases. So, I go back home, get on iTunes, search for my purchases and I'm told that my purchases can only be downloaded once.
OMG! Someone help! Is there anyone out there having the same problem!??!?!
    Dell Dimension 4550   Windows XP

Enable the iPod for disk use. See How to enable disk use.
Go to "my computer" and from the tools menu/folder options/view tab, enable "show hidden files and folders" in the advanced settings pane. Open the iPod in "my computer". Look for a file called "iEKinfo". Is it there? If so, make a copy of this file and save it somewhere easy to find (the desktop for instance). Do this also with the "iTunes DB" file. Don't worry if you can't see these files.
Create a new administrator account. Log out of the current account and log in to the new one. Then restore the iPod to factory settings.
Open iTunes, connect the iPod and set the transfer preferences to manual transfer. Then download the free single of the week from the iTunes Music Store. Verify that song plays in iTunes.
Now, drag this song only to the iPod, and eject the iPod from iTunes and disconnect it from the computer.
Does the song play on the iPod ok? If so, log out of the new user account and log back in to your normal one (the one you have issues with) and reconnect the iPod to the computer. Keep manual transfer selected for the moment. Drag some of the older purchased music (the ones that wouldn't play before) to the iPod.
Eject the iPod and disconnect it. Do those songs now play ok?
If not, first try this step.
Delete the SC Info.sidb file. Open iTunes again.
Now transfer some of the affected music to the iPod again. Does it play ok?

  • Desperate!  Bought Music won't play on ipod mini

My ipod won't sync any bought music with my itunes. It gives an error message " A new ipod sofware version 1.4.1 is available for the ipod. Would you like to download?". Click yes. Download...
Fire up ipod updater 2004-04-28 & it tells me no update is required.
    I restored & still nothing.
    Am I doing something wrong??
I'm sick of listening to old tunes.. please help!!!!

A couple of things you might try, first look on the iPod in the About menu and see what version the iPod thinks it has, and also, make sure you can play the songs back in iTunes on the computer.
