It seems that their are flaws in the new format that need to be worked out.
. Local sample start/end settings have no affect on soundfonts ,sounds that use these setting in will be played back incorrectly (with the settings ignored). These setting would normally allow you to do none destructi've sample editing in Vienna.
2. Stereo soundfonts play back mono (both left & right side samples are centered) causing a flange or phase effect. Once again settings are ignored (pan l/r) and the soundfont plays back incorrectly. attempting to adjust these settings in Vienna has no affect.
3. Midi synth volume sliders are glitchey. When moving midi volume slider up and down while midi is playing you get artifacts. For instance , if your playing midi drums that goes ~boom boom bap~ you might hear a glitchey ~tck tck tac~ as you move the sliders, often even at the 0 volume setting
4. Auditoning samples in Vienna sound explorer does not seem to work.
Their may be others but these are the ones that I have found so far. Hopefully these issues will be resolved soon.
If anyone else has noticed these same issues and can confirm (or debunk) my finding please chime in.

Mixer settings reset to default after reboot even after saving the settings.6. Playing soundfonts and audio together at lower latency settings in Sonar4 causes distortion, popping and clicking. If the same project is played back without the soundfont midi accompaniment, it plays back fine with no distortion, etc. This is the same or similar problem that appeared in the early Audigy2 drivers and and was later fixed with a driver patchPlease let me know if you can confirm these problems and if their are plan to address them in near future.

How do I get Vienna Instruments (VI's) into a Logic Project?

so, I'm running an IMax OS X 10.6.7, with Logic Pro 9.1.4
I recently downloaded Vienna Symphonic Library Special Edition and Special Edition plus, the latest version. Everything is now downloaded and ready to go, and I have started messing around with patches, saving matrices, etc. on the standalone Vienna Software.
So my question is, how do I import the VI's into a Logic Project? I have read the Logic Manual, and it doesn't provide detailed instructions on how to do this. When I look at the Allowable VI plug ins in Logic, it shows the vienna instruments there, but I just don't know how exactly to go from having the matrices saved in my custom folder, using them with the standalone vienna player to actually using them within a Logic Project to create midi regions/tracks, and turn old midid regions/tracks that were created with Logic instruments in to tracks/regions with the Vienna Virtual Instruments.

Yes, I know how to run a software instrument. I actually figured out how to do this on my own, and am assuming that it is the best way. I just loaded any software "Logic" instrument, and then loaded the Vienna matrix into a plug in slot.
So that seems to work, but now I have more questions. Do you use Vienna?
If I already have a violin region recorded on a Logic instrument track, I have realized that i can just copy and past it onto the new track with the Vienna plug in and it will adopt those settings, but my question is this:
Vienna seems to make a big deal out of being able to play all the articulations of one instrument on just one track, with keyswitch controls, etc. But if I'm working with Midi data on a track in logic and I'm not performing all the parts "live" while recording, how do I get the articulation changes to stay in place, so that I can have a violin play staccato, legato, and pizzicato all in one track, without having to manually hit the keyswitches to change the articulations while the track is playing? obviously I can't do this while bouncing, or with multiple tracks at once, so how to you create a single track with multiple articulations in Vienna, plug it into a Logic Track, and have it playback with the changes in articulations, without having to manually change it.
Any ideas?
I have a lot of multi track orchestral projects composed using logic instruments, but I want to get all those over to Vienna Instruments as well. What would be the easiest way to do this, with consideration to my above question concerning one track for multiple articulations of an instrument?

OSX Mountain Lion and Vienna Ensemble Pro 5

I'm about to assume that I've made a mistake, but I don't like assuming ...maybe someone can help me figure this out.

I just completed the download of Vienna Ensemble Pro 5 w/ a 9Gb Demo Library
The stand-alone app, and probable the VST, won't find / load / activate any of the samples that came with software purchase.
I can load Kontakt 5 in this app, load a single instrument and hear playback (via MIDI controller) when I try.
The problem I am having with the VE Pro 5 Included Library instruments is that I can not locate, so I can not load any, thru the interface.
I download the samples and they uncompressed into multiple ".dat" files. (?)
That is where I am afraid to assume ...I'm just learning about using these (awesome) Vienna Apps, but I've yet to see a
instruments library load as a Dat file.
Could they be in the wrong folder?
Should I uncompress it some other way?
It there ONE BUTTON I should have hit, to fix all of this?
I have ".gig", ".wav", ".au" and ".nki" files, is the ".dat" file something new (to me) that I need to learn about?
I love Vienna everything, but I am clueless (new guy) and would definitely appreciate any help you can offer!
All I'd like to do, is hear a few sounds triggered by my MIDI Contrlr. But I suck at figuring stuff these days

Finally actually figured it out. It was all there somewhere but for anyone else who might want the details here they are:
1) Start Vienna Ensemble Pro 5 SERVER
2) Start Logic X
3) Create a software instrument
4) Choose “AU Instruments – VSL – Vienna Ensemble Pro - Stereo”
5) Press “Connect”
6) Choose the “Available Instance” and press “Connect” (This step is necessary to connect Logic with VEP5)
7) On an audio track insert an “Audio FX” and choose “Audio Units – VSL – Vienna Ensemble Pro Audio Input – Mono (or Mono-Stereo)
8) Press “Assign” choose the “Connected Server Intervace” and again press “Assign”
9) Be sure that the “Audio Input” on this screen is set to “In 1/In 2” or whatever the corresponding output in Logic is set to
10) Press “Raise”
11) Press the “Microphone” icon to insert an audio input
12) Go to that input and set the “Input” to “IN 1 / IN 2” or the proper input that corresponds to Logic
13) On the same channel strip go up to “EFFECTS” and press the “+” button to add the effect you want

Hi - new to Vienna Ensemble Pro, so sorry for the ridiculous question
I am trying to add some of my Logic instruments into an instance of VEP, but It is not avail to me. (http://bit.ly/sdAwNl)
I see them in my channel strip settings when I bring up Logic, (http://bit.ly/ukLlPj) but I can't seem to access them via VEP.
Does anyone know why, and how to fix?

Built-in Logic instrument plugins are NOT available outside Logic. VEP can only use 3rd party Audio Unit (& VST?) instrument plugins.

My DSL is still down in June 29, technical support said there is still outage in Vienna area

My Internet DSL is still down since the June 29 storm. It has been more than 11 days. I spent hours waiting for technical support from India, remote modem so many times and they is still outage my Vienna area with no ETA. Is this correct?
After wasting to much time, I'm tire to call them. I'm using my neighbor's Cox Internet now. My dry landline number is {edited for privacy}

Run 3-4 gig of exs24 (old library) AND 3-4 gig of Vienna Instruments
I launched the terminal and typed in TOP (this shows you where memory is going)
VSL-Server despite being an AU plug-in has its own MEMORY going to it. In other words when adding more Vienna Instruments instances in Logic 7, it does NOT increase the momory used by Logic7 but instead goes to the memory used by VSL-server....
Now if you launch an instance of the old EXS24 edition in Logic (Epic Horns for instance) then memory used by Logic7 DOES increase.....
This is good news......
Since the mac sees VSL-server as a seperate APP/Entity from Logic7
So right now i just run Epic Horns and Opus Woodwinds etc as EXS24 and all my strings as Vienna Instruments, which gives me access to the full 8 gig of RAM on 1 G5.
You see, each App has a 4 gig cap....since VSL-server is seperate it has 4 gig for itself......leaving circa 3gig worth for exs24 VSL.

Although my G4/1Ghz Dual has Classic on here I can not replicate the fault people are reporting.
Any other help I can offer will need me to have a translation. (I would not trust Widget or web translator to go to English and back again).
EDIT: Found that Chris has emailed me.
Has Suggested Combo 10.4.8 - which I think is now reported as not helping the situation.

Question about Vienna Symphonic Library

I currently have Opus 1 ESX 24 library. I was thinking about getting Opus 2 as well.
VSL recommends the Vienna Special Editions as a better alternative. Does anyone out there recommend either/or? I certainly like the way ESX24 loads samples in Logic 8. Does the New VSL instrument play well within Logic. Any criticisms? Thanks in advance for you help.

Hey Randy. I'm sorry, I've no experience of Opus 1 or 2. However, I DO have the VSL SE standard & extd'd libraries and I "love" 'em! The GUI seems very stable in LP8 and I (personally) have had no issues at all with it, though I am running a different machine to yours. I'm sure you're more than aware of the sample sizes involved... and the expense!

Every photo that is in Last import is also in an event and in photos view - those are simply different ways of viewing the same photos in your iPhoto library
Common causes for your not finding them are incorrect data/time setting on the camera (correct by selecting the photos in last import and using the adjust time/date command) or an unexpected event sort (fix under the view menu ==> sort events)

The standard keyboard in Austria and Germany is QWERTZ not QWERTY. (Some people do use QWERTY, though.) So you need to make sure which one she needs. Check Wikipedia for the difference between QWERTY and QWERTZ. (If she types in German, then QWERTZ is a better choice.)
