Vietnamese Character

Some of Vietnamese characters are not displaying in the PDFs.
Original Text : Số tham chiếu của ngân hàng
Text Displayed in the PDF: S tham chi u c a ngân hàng

I assume you are running version 5.6. Take a look at the ^symbolset command in the Print Agent reference manual. You will see the supported code pages. You may need to revert to Unicode because as I said before, Vietnamese was not supported.
cheers
Chris
by the way...the default 1252 is WinLatin1

  • Vietnamese Character in PO printing

    Hi,
    Were  doing SAP vietnam, one challenging is how to make the PO prinout capture the Vendor Name written in Vietnamese character..
    The vendor master name is created/entered in the vietnamese character, during PO creation, the correct vendor name in vietnamese character is captured  but during PO printing, the vendor name is having inconsistent character..
    eg. vendor name created in vietnamese       Tạo mẫu
    the vendor name change during PO printing   T#o m#u
    we are using a customize program Z(copied of orignal PO printing program and Zmedruck...
    pls. help

    This issue relates to the manner in which the print program is translating the characters, so i would strongly suggest work with your abaper & your basis consultant to ensure the requisite language packs are available.
    Good luck.

    Does anyone know why iTunes can correctly display vietnamese characters, but iPod doesn't? Is there a way to remedy this?

  • Font encoding in report hmtlcss

    When I run report Ora9i, it always insert these lines into html file, so my page can not show the correct encoding character (I want to use Vietnamese Character but it show Western ISO-8859-1).
    Please tell me. Thanks.
    <html>
    <head>
    <base href="http://tckt:8888/reports/rwservlet/getfile/tckt/330/57313451.htm">
    </head></html>
    And I want to download patch 3 for report 9i, but not have metalink account.
    How can I do.

    HI,
    Yes, you are right. You will always first get:
    <html>
    <head>
    <base href="...">
    </head>
    </html>
    and then the second <html> tag that contains the actual report. However, I have tried it, and embedding the charset information inside the second <html> tag also has the desired effect. I would suggest that instead of UTF-8, you use your Vietnamese charset, put it in the before-report-escape value, and try.
    If this does not work, just remove the first <html> tag manually after the report output is generated, and open the file in the browser (just for testing purposes). Confirm whether this gives you the correct result. If this too does not give you correct result, it means the problem is not with the charset information, it is somewhere else.
    Navneet.

  • Vietnamese fonts are not displayed correctly.

    The Vietnamese input program worked fine in the previous version but in version 4 the texts are not aligned correctly. See this http://i485.photobucket.com/albums/rr219/september17th/untitled-16.jpg
    The character set used is Composite Unicode and input method is VNI. I tried VN forum but no one care about it =.= Also this is the FF problem those texts displayed correctly in Chrome. Those posts are here http://www.tinhte.vn/tin-tuc-su-kien-10/hp-va-dell-cong-khai-chi-trich-ipad-2-cua-apple-644640/index15.html

    I also have this problem, hope this problem will be fixed in the next release. More info: http://vozforums.com/showpost.php?p=28008790&postcount=61

  • Bug in Vietnamese input source

    Hi all and sorry for my bad English,
    I'm Vietnamese and Vietnamese Unikey is my default input sources. However, this input mode auto add a weird character every time I've moved cursor to another place. The weird character displayed difference depend on which application I'm working.
    Please look at some screenshots below to understand what's I meant.
    Safari:
    http://img63.imageshack.us/img63/4453/screenshot20100417at221.png
    MS Word:
    http://img46.imageshack.us/img46/4453/screenshot20100417at221.png
    Thanks
    Nguyen

    For example: Tôi (you must input from keyboard: T o o i)
    After that, press any arrow button (<-, ->, etc) then the weird character will be displayed.
    Now I see it. Before I was always completing a word by hitting the space bar before doing anything else, or using the mouse.
    The weird characters are from the Unicode Private Use Area, F702 and F703, which Apple has assigned to the Arrow keys for internal processing purposes. I think it is a bug for these to ever appear in text, and something only Apple can fix. You can let them know here:

  • First character missing sometimes when i type

    it doesn't happen all the time but when i type something the first letter is missing iv'e noticed it mainly happening in safari
    any suggestions? thanks

    hmm, mine seems to be fixed
    history: ever since 10.4.3 the first character typed after an idle period doesn't register, tried combo updater, 10.4.4, blah blah, problem got more/less frequent but still hit several times a day
    three days ago by chance i ran disk utility and selected "verify disk", it said i had an "illegal name" and bailed, booting the tiger dvd and running disk utility could not fix it, nor could booting single user und using fsck
    some surfing turned up an issue linked to vietnamese characters in filenames that are installed as part of adobe creative suite 2 (and also in some standalone cs2 apps)
    this causes problems that once present can eventually result in serious damage to the disk structure, disk warrior was cited as being able to detect/fix the damage (apparently several other similar apps will not do it)
    two days ago i got dw, it showed several of the adobe-linked issues as well as a few other (imho minor) things, it fixed the disk
    since then the missing keystroke problem seems to be fixed too
    maybe this is just chance, maybe the zillion reboots did it, maybe starting single user did it, could be anything really
    so i decided to carry out the ultimate test and tempt fate by posting that mine seems ok now
    i'm not suggesting dw fixes the missing keystroke, but if you have any adobe cs2 apps it might be worth seeing if disk utility shows any issues when you choose the "verify disk" option

  • Issues with vietnamese language

    Hi ,
    I need help in locating the right font , NLS_LANG , database charactersets for a Vietnamese based forms application.
    I am having issues with VIETNAMESE_VIETNAM.VN8MSWIN1258 because some of the words are not coming properly in the forms . For example , the word mười when typed in the text box is getting displayed as m??i.
    some of my system configurations are given below
    oracle database server : Oracle9i Release 9.2.0.1.0 - Production
    Forms version : 6.0.8.25.2
    Database characterset : VN8MSWIN1258
    NLS_LANG : VIETNAMESE_VIETNAM.VN8MSWIN1258
    Font in the text item : Courier New
    Thanks in advance
    SJ

    VN8MSWIN1258 is formally a single-byte character set. But many Vietnamese characters are composed from a base character followed by one or more combining accent charaters. If you blindly use SUBSTR on such strings, you may cut off some accents. There is no easy solution for SUBSTR in Forms 6i running in Vietnamese.
    The problem with pasting seems to be the result of simplified conversion from Unicode (coming from Word) to ANSI (required by Forms). This conversion assumes that one Unicode character code corresponds to one ANSI character code. This is not true for the string that you gave as an example. This string contains four Unicode characters:
    U+006D LATIN SMALL LETTER M
    U+01B0 LATIN SMALL LETTER U WITH HORN
    U+1EDD LATIN SMALL LETTER O WITH HORN AND GRAVE
    U+0069 LATIN SMALL LETTER I
    "m" and "i" can obviously be converted to VN8MSWIN1258 as 0x6d and 0x69.
    'Latin small letter u with horn' can also be converted to 0xfd. But there is no precomposed 'latin small letter o with horn and grave' in Cp1258. This ANSI code page encodes the character as 0xf5 (U+01A1 LATIN SMALL LETTER O WITH HORN) followed by 0xcc (U+0300 COMBINING GRAVE ACCENT). The conversion performed by paste operation cannot handle this. The solution here is not to paste from Word. You have to use some other source.

  • OCR with Vietnamese characters

    I don't routinely need to "read" Vietnamese but I'm designing a website for a Vietnamese restaurant. They don't have electronic versions of their menus. I've scanned them as pdfs and then did OCR so I could create a menu online. I just started finding and replacing the incorrectly read letters when I thought there might be an easier way (it's a long menu). Can anyone direct me to instructions on how I could have Acrobat read Vietnamese?
    Thanks.

    David:
    Both products will use print (vs handwritten) character recognition to identify "tokens" from the image of a document with text. Capture usage focuses mainly on zonal recognition of information - what I would call structured forms processing. Forms Recognition is for information capture from semi-structured documents - say invoices, where you know that many fields are present, but their location differs from example to example. It can use patterns, text locators, etc to find the field. Both benenfit when there exists a reference DB of acceptable values, but that is not a requirement.
    Lexical correction (as I understand it to mean) is not a feature of either. They are not going to try to validate extracted tokens based upon language analysis. I would try to use them to extract all of the tokens and then add some tool to do lexical analysis. You could do that as a separate, post OCR process, or try to see if you can fit it into an FR post-extraction EP.
    Might I ask what the business problem you are trying to solve is?

  • Vietnamese support in Indesign

    I have been trying to get the Vietnamese language to work in Indesign. I don't see it as an option under languages in the Character palette. Any suggestions on how to get this to work? I only need a couple of words in Vietnamese.
    Thanks
    JP

    Myriad Pro works!!!! had the same problem on my system. CS4, version 6.05, Windows XP ServicePack 3, tightly regulated IP environment as far as adding fonts. The one font I could get to work was (I know it sounds vulgar) good old Arial (OpenType version) until I found Myriad Pro OT

    Thank you!!!!

    i would love to be able to type Vietnamese on PAge, Keynote, or Number. So is there anyway to do that?
    No. Unless you want to copy/paste every character from a chart or app like Unicode or Unicode Table.
    or anyway to contact Apple about that problem?

  • Error while assigning a character value to a numeric variable.

    I fire a sql statement and check the number of rows returned by the sql.
    I check this result with the application logs.
    The application logs keeps the sqls fired by the application and the no of rows returned, in the example below the sql returned 8454 rows.
    My script compares the two results.
    ***********Application Log***********
    4/14/2008 11:15:01 AM: 0059 SQL SELECT "CLUSTER_CD",
    4/14/2008 11:15:01 AM: 0060 "PRODUCT_DESC",
    4/14/2008 11:15:01 AM: 0061 "TEAM_CD"
    4/14/2008 11:15:01 AM: 0062 FROM "OPS$TMS"."MAP_CLUSTER_TEAM_PROD"
    4/14/2008 11:15:01 AM:      3 fields found: CLUSTER_CD, PRODUCT_DESC, TEAM_CD, 8,454 lines fetched
    ***********Application Log***********
    My script:
    #!/bin/ksh
    typeset -i resA
    typeset -i resB
    opstms_conn_string="abc/[email protected]"
    set `sqlplus -s $opstms_conn_string << EOF
    set pages 0
    WHENEVER SQLERROR CONTINUE
    SELECT count(*)
    FROM MAP_CLUSTER_TEAM_PROD;
    exit
    EOF`
    resA=$1 ##returns 8454
    resB=`grep '3 fields found: CLUSTER_CD, PRODUCT_DESC, TEAM_CD,' BCVP_Main_Loader.qvw.log | awk '{print $10}'`
    ##resB returns 8,454
    ## here i get syntax error
    if [ $resA -eq $resB ]; then
    echo "QA passed for sql1"
    else
    echo "QA failed for sql1"
    fi
    The problem is as resB is integer variable it does not accept character value: 8,454 so returns a syntax error:
    How do I change the value assigned to resB into a numeric variable?
    error:
    + grep 3 fields found: CLUSTER_CD, PRODUCT_DESC, TEAM_CD, BCVP_Main_Loader.qvw.log
    run.ksh[52]: 8,454: syntax error

    Change:
    resB=`grep '3 fields found: CLUSTER_CD, PRODUCT_DESC, TEAM_CD,' BCVP_Main_Loader.qvw.log | awk '{print $10}'`
    to this:
    resB=`grep '3 fields found: CLUSTER_CD, PRODUCT_DESC, TEAM_CD,' BCVP_Main_Loader.qvw.log | awk '{print $10}' | tr -d ,`
    to drop the comma. Or you could do it in awk(1):
    resB=`grep '3 fields found: CLUSTER_CD, PRODUCT_DESC, TEAM_CD,' BCVP_Main_Loader.qvw.log | awk '{ gsub( /,/, "", $10 ); print $10}'`
    Or you could to it all in awk(1):
    resB=`awk '
    /3 fields found: CLUSTER_CD, PRODUCT_DESC, TEAM_CD/ {
    gsub( /,/, "", $10 )
    print $10
    ' BCVP_Main_Loader.qvw.log`
    (This example was not tested, it's just for a model.)
    Someone more of an SQL guru than I can probably tell you how to change your numeric locale to avoid presenting those commas in the first place and avoid the problem.
