Vietnamese Language Support Services Menu Convert Encoding from Unicode-VNI

I am running :
Macbook 13 unibody
Clean install Snow Leopard
I have Vietnamese input method in Languages and Input Method Systems Preferences on
Problem :
When I was running Leopard, I somehow was able to see in the Services Menu "convert from unicode to vni," and other encodings, and vice versa while working in TextEdit, MS Word, and other applications that supported it.
After doing a new and clean install on my machine. I am no longer able to see these options in the Services Menu, nor am I able to even find where and how to enable this in Systems Preferences.
Please HELP HELP HELP it was an absolute life saver for me to work with all the different encodings and input methods for Vietnamese language.

omg that was it. I had already installed the app from that link but it didn't show up in services because I guess I didn't log out properly for the installation to finish putting the service items on. & since I wasn't able to find the services after installation I assumed it must have been a part of the Leopard. Because you suggested, I installed again, and logged out as I was supposed to, and voila, the Vietnamese encoding conversion items for Services Menu. thanks you.

  • Wrong languages in Services menu!

Sometime recently, items in the Services menu (and its contextual menus) have started displaying in Portuguese, Chinese(?), German, as well as English. It affects all applications as far as I can tell. I've set up a test account and the problem doesn't exist there. I've logged out/in and restarted to no effect. It looks to me like a corrupt preference file somewhere but I can't see anything obvious. Any ideas?

    Cheers,
    K.S.

Since the issue is specific to your original user account, you can proceed in two ways. One is to log into your new account, make a list of the preference files (plists) located in /username/Library/Preferences/, including any in the ByHost subfolder, log back into the original account, move everything on that other account's list from the original account's Preferences folder into a newly created folder on the Desktop, log out and back in, and see if the problem goes away. If so, you can copy the ones in the Desktop folder (one at time) back into /Preferences/, restart, and see if the problem returns. If so, you've identified the corrupt/conflicting one. Continue with all of them until isolating the bad ones. That'll save you the trouble of resetting preferences.
The second way is much more detailed and I'll not burden you with the steps unless the above doesn't fix the issue.

  • How to achieve vietnamese language support for SAP?

    Dear all,
It's easy to add languages which are natively supported by SAP like Japanese, French...
I wonder what are the things to do when we need language enablement for languages like vietnamese which are not yet supported by SAP.
    What we want to achieve.
When we logon, select VN as the logon key.
Then in the application, it show our language text instead of DE or EN.
    Thanks
    Giang

    Hi
As you are aware the Vietnames is not supported by SAP,  You cannot install or customise it.  SAP will not guarantee the consistency of the data.

  • Language Support in iLife '08 purchased from Apple Store

    Helo Everyone.
I can´t wait to get the iLife '08... but even though I live in US I use Mac OS X (10.4.10) in Spanish. Also I use iLife '06 in Spanish.
Recently I downloaded the trial version of iWork '08 and I purchased the key to activate. The language is Spanish because the package contained every language.
I wonder if the iLife '08 version sold in the Apple Online Store can support Spanish???.
I WANT TO PURCHASE IT, but I need it to support the Spanish language because my OS is in Spanish.
Best regards... and please help me confirm this..

Yes, it does have Spanish support.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Convert file from UNICODE to ANSI

    Hi,
    After i read-in a file using FileInputStream,
    1. I need to detect if its in UNICODE format. How to
do that? It's very difficult to determine the encoding of an arbitrary chink of text. If you have a specific set of possibilities, then it gets easier. What are the possible encodings that file could be?
    2. If it is, i need to convert it into ANSI (so that
i can parse it later on) How?
Any hints/solutions?What do you mean by ANSI encoding? There's no such thing as "ANSI encoding", but that usually referes to Windows-1252. (http://www.cs.tut.fi/~jkorpela/chars.html#win) If that's what you're also referring to, then there's not really any way to convert Unicode to 1252. Unicode is a superset of 1252. If the file has any characters outside of the range defined by 1252, then there's no conversion to be done, that character simply doesn't exist in 1252.
    I recommend you read this:

  • Language support by NLS_CHARACTERSET:AL32UTF8

    Hi,
I have very less idea about the multiple language support in oracle database.
    select * from nls_database_parameters where parameter like '%CHARACTERSET';
    It returns me:
    NLS_CHARACTERSET     AL32UTF8
    NLS_NCHAR_CHARACTERSET     AL16UTF16
    SELECT * FROM NLS_SESSION_PARAMETERS;
    It returns me:
    PARAMETER     VALUE
    NLS_LANGUAGE     AMERICAN
    NLS_TERRITORY     AMERICA
    NLS_CURRENCY     $
    NLS_ISO_CURRENCY     AMERICA
    NLS_NUMERIC_CHARACTERS     .,
    NLS_CALENDAR     GREGORIAN
    NLS_DATE_FORMAT     DD-MON-RR
    NLS_DATE_LANGUAGE     AMERICAN
    NLS_SORT     BINARY
    NLS_TIME_FORMAT     HH.MI.SSXFF AM
    NLS_TIMESTAMP_FORMAT     DD-MON-RR HH.MI.SSXFF AM
    NLS_TIME_TZ_FORMAT     HH.MI.SSXFF AM TZR
    NLS_TIMESTAMP_TZ_FORMAT     DD-MON-RR HH.MI.SSXFF AM TZR
    NLS_DUAL_CURRENCY     $
    NLS_COMP     BINARY
    NLS_LENGTH_SEMANTICS     BYTE
    NLS_NCHAR_CONV_EXCP     FALSE
Can you tell me,according to the above configuration, what languages will be supported by this database(oracle 10g)?
I would need to store german, japanese, chinese and etc...Is it possible to do so?
Can the change in the database setting help me to achieve inserting as well as retrieving data in numerous languages? Then what is the change that needs to be made.I don't want any junk values like inverted question mark during retrieval.
    Can anyone please help?
    Thanks a lot in advance.

The NLS_CHARACTERSET setting of AL32UTF8 means that the database supports Unicode. So you can store virtually any character from any language in a CHAR or VARCHAR2 column in the database.
Retrieving and displaying the characters, as well as providing a GUI to enter the data properly, depends on client and application settings. For example, my operating system (an English language version of Windows) doesn't support Chinese characters using the default code page. So if I queried Chinese data that was properly stored in the database in SQL*Plus, the conversion would fail. You would need an application that had native support for Unicode (i.e. iSQL*Plus, many/most browser based apps, etc). On the other hand, a user of the Chinese language version of Windows would be able to query that same data via SQL*Plus because that version of Windows supported the necessary characters in the default code page. In order for that to happen, though, the Chinese client's NLS_LANG would have to be set in order to convert the characters from Unicode to the client's default code page.

  • Can I remove items from the Services menu?

I think the subject line says it all: can I remove items from the Services menu? I have a number of items in the Services menu that I never use and I would like to make the menu shorter to make it easier to access the items that I do use.

There are a couple of things you could try. There's an application called Service Scrubber that is supposed to do this. But the web page says it's for 10.4, though it says it might work on 10.3
Alternatively, you can edit the Info.plist or Info-macos.plist file in each application bundle to remove its service from the Services menu. This post at Mac OS X Hints has a pretty detailed description of how to do it. I tried this on my iMac running 10.3.9 and it worked just fine.
Don't know about the Service Scrubber app, but if you edit the plist files, you'll need to log out and log back in before the changes take effect.
Also, if you decide to edit the files by hand, I'd suggest just renaming NSServices by adding an "x" to the front or something, rather than deleting the item completely. That makes the changes easier to reverse.

My Iphone4 Home button sometimes work nicely and sometimes it stop working. India Apple care says they cant give me even paid support because i bought phone from Australia. i don't know what to do. i m disappointed with the product and service support

When you buy an iPhone in the U.S. it's locked to that country with the carrier you bought it for.
If you bought the device unlocked in the U.S. it's unlocked, you can use it on any carrier. Even one's outside the country.
If you want to do a repair on a device you bought in the U.S. and your using it in another country, you must send it back to the U.S. Why? That's where you bought it from.
AppleCare Protection Plans and AppleCare Limited Warranties are registered to your hardware.
    Your hardware is your iPhone.
Wherever hardware that was bought then that's the country it was designed to be used in and that's where it was manufactured.
Apple is very localized - if you call U.S. tech support, you'll speak to somone in your country.
So, what does all this mean?
In order to do a repair, you need to send it back to the country you got it from.
And we're all customers like you. We understand that you're upset, but Apple isn't gonna bend the rules to one individual.
Policy is policy. Get over it.

no apps available in self service menu from school. need to download app for homework. Help

Sounds like your school is using the MDM Casper by JAMF. The JAMF Software Server (JSS) may not be available outside your schools network. You will likely have to wait until you are at school to download the apps from Self Service.
If your school is using VPP Managed Distribution, check the App Store "Purchased" tab to see if your school assigned any apps to you there. Be sure that you are logged in to the Apple ID that you used when enrolling.
    Hope this helps!

  • N97 - No log-in from the VOIP service menu

I am stuck though I have followed Nokia's procedure for configuring my phone for VOIP calls: Log-in from the VOIP service menu doesn't happen. My SIP-profile is registered. However, I have two VOIP services defined (two globes) with the same name as a consequence of a problem when installing "S60 5.x SIP VoIP 3.1 Settings", then reinstalling, and I do not know how to delete one (the other displays my username correctly). Under the globe, the following text is displayed "Contact not on the contact list. To add, select 'Add fro..."  and no more. My phone is a N97 RM-505 with software version 21.0.045. Would appreciate any help. Thanks

  • Using Grab from Application/Services menu

    Hi
Can anyone explain how to enable Grab in the App/Services menu?
whenever I try, the three options (screen, selection, timed) are all greyed out, even though Grab itself is not. I can get the screenshot fine if I use the keyboard shortcuts, however, I don't use it a lot so I never remember what they are!
It's a pain to have to look it up everytime...
    Thanks

You must invoke the Grab Service from within an application that can accept the screen shot. One that can is TextEdit. (Taking screenshots from a Service this way has never seemed practical to me.)
