Welcome to the Apple Discussions. If you don't have one of the new iMacs then Terence's suggestion might not work for you. If that's the case open Font Book and look for the Helvetica Neue font. If it's there Control-click on it and select Show File from the menu. Then double click on the actual font file and it will be reinstalled and activated. That should fix the problem.
Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

You can use Adobe's free DNG converter to convert proprietary raws to the universal DNG raw format. Here are the links:
Adobe - Adobe Camera Raw and DNG Converter : For Windows : Adobe DNG Converter 9.0
Adobe - Adobe Camera Raw and DNG Converter : For Macintosh : Adobe DNG Converter 9.0
Converting to JPEG will be an extra step afterwards.

in your contacts settings, turn OFF all contact accounts (SIM, BBM ETC) then afterwards you should be able to just see your local contacts.

  • Can I use iPhoto to view and edit images not stored in the iPhoto Library

    Hi folks,
I'm a newbie to Mac after 20+ years on PC...just switched 2 weeks ago....wish I'd done it years ago. Everythings so easy and fast...e.g. setup wireless broadband in 25 mins with no probs....and I have never done anything like that.
    Here's my Q.
I have a load of images, downloads and scans, of old manuscripts, authors etc. which I don't really want in my iPhoto library (which I would like to keep for actual photos. Is it possible to point iPhoto to another location (say in Documents) where it will let me view and edit these images without importing them into the library.
Alternatively can I view images as thumbnails in this other locations, and not as default file type icons.
    Hope this is plain,
    JP_MAC
    Imac G5 17" 1.9Ghz   Mac OS X (10.4.3)

    Hi jp-mac,
iPhoto 5 imports all images into it's own database. (this has changed with iPhoto 6 so you might want to check out iLife 6)
The other files you want to view but not have in the library...are they image files?
If so, you can view that folder as icons and then make the icons larger so you can see what they are.
To do this open the folder in question. click the first icon on top of View in the toolbar. This will make that folder contents view as icons
Now go all the way to the top of your screen and click on View>show view options.
Slide the icon size slider all the way to the right to view them larger. Also make sure you have the "show icon preview" checked.
This will work most of the time, but sometimes if you edit images in other applications they might not make icon previews, so check their preferences to make sure you have that checked.
There is also a little third party program that will do it for you.
    One is called Pic2Icon
    Pic2Icon
Another one is a contextual menu item called QuickImageCM.
    QuickImageCM
check out that page because there are some other useful contextual menu items that I use all the time.

  • Trouble with viewing font on spine of Photo book.  I can't find a way to view and edit the text which appears on the spine of the dustcover or the book itself when printed.

I can't find a way to view and edit the text which appears on the spine of the dustcover or the photo book itself.  When I preview the book it appears on the dustcover and the book, but not when I'm back in the creation or editing windows.  I've printed 4 books in a series and two spines are one font size, and two others are a different font size.  One of the books has a shortened title on the book spine.

The text on the spine will be the same text that is in the Title text box on the title page.  You can change the font and style of that text just like you change any text in Aperture. Aperture will size and center the spine text for you
If you want the content or the font and style  of the text to be different from your Title box text then you have to trick the program a bit.  Put the text that you want in the spine into the Title text box and then move that box to a place on the page where it will not be visible when printed ( Y coordinate -1.0 inches for example).  Don't move it too far away or it will be hard to get back to in order to make an edit.    Then make a new text box on the title page and put the text you want on the cover in that.  (Or make a book without text on the cover , but with text on the spine).
You are 100% correct in that you can not preview this unless you preview the printed book

How we can View and Edit an 2D / 3D document from DMS?
Use ECL viewer to view 2D/3D files.Markup and redlining features are useful for adding comments.Note that you cannot modify the native application using ECL viewer.
For editing 3d files, the particular CAD software would have to be available on the local system and necessary DC20 settings specified.
    What are the system requirement?
    Ensure ECL viewer is installed.

  • Viewing and editing versions

    I am confused by versions.
When I edit an image in Aperture in Photoshop and save it with a new name, or just save it, I can tell that it is saving a version of it, as I can track it down in the package contents.  For the life of me, I can't figure out how to access it from within Aperture.  I have to move or copy it from the folder in the package to my desktop and then re-import it into Aperture.
There must be some way I can view and edit these versions from with Aperture.
I have found nothing in the manual or on the web site that tells me anything about this.
    Help!
    Thanks,
    --Kenoli

It seems that Aperture is more about image adjustments, whether done within Aperture or in an external editor than about doing any layout like things, such as combining images into one file.  Am I perceiving this correctly?
That is correct; see Kirby Krieger's answer here:
    Re: commercial photography methods.
I guess if one wants to make any significant changes to an image file the best way to do this is to export the image or images, edit them as files outside of aperture and re-import.  Am I perceiving this correctly?
Yes, that is correct; but Aperture has the plug-in interface to do external editing, or you send your image to an external editor. That leaves the image you are working on in its project, and keeps all metadata tags you assigned.
To add captions and borders to your images try the BorderFX plug-in (http://www.iborderfx.com/BorderFX). It can add custom tags and tags from metadata presets to your images.
To view the image on a grid with metadata captions I create a web page (or smart webpage) from the album with selected images (File > New > Web Page). For each web page you can customize the metadata preset to be displayed with the thumbnails or the details image; for me, it is the easiest way to get a comprehensive list of the metadata assigned to the images. You can print the webpage from your Webbrowser after exporting it to disk.
For example: Metadata shown below the thumbs in a smart webpage
Or create a book page (File > New > Book). If you create custom pages in an Aperture Book, you can arrange your images freely and also can add your captions based on the Metadata tags, see Kirby Kriegers thread here:
Print several Images at different sizes on one sheet?

  • Publishing ical so that others can view and edit calendars

I would like to make my ical viewable for someone in another country and would like for them to be able to make changes to it, so that if either of us wants to make changes we can and it will sync as we make changes. I know that if you publish a calendar others can view it, but they can't make changes.
Does anyone have any idea of how to do this?
    Thanks

I am considering purchasing an iphone. I'd like to use ical for our family calendar, but want my husband to view and edit the calendar from his computer at work. Can we do this? I've been reading and it sounds like maybe if we purchase the mobileme package at another $69/year. But maybe not even then? Perhaps it is just better to use googlecalendar from my iphone and have him view/edit from his work computer? Will googlecalendar work well from my iphone? I'm unfamiliar with ical or googlecalendar, but we are ready to move our family calendar online. Any advice is appreciated.

  • Can someone explain how I post PDFs on iCloud?  I use the app Goodreader to view and edit PDFs on my iPad

I am trying to upload PDF documents from my MacBook to iCloud so that I can view and edit them in Goodreader, an app on my iPad, but I cannot add them to Pages on the iCloud website.  How do I upload them?

the latest version of the iOS app GoodReader has been updated to use the iCloud sync features. You can open, store, and edit PDF files and they'll automatically sync with GoodReader on all other devices. Documents are stored in iCloud and will also sync with any Mac that is setup to sync with iCloud. The Mac will automatically have a folder where you can open synced files or add new files from your Mac. details of how to do this are in the GoodReader help files.
Note: I have no affiliation with GoodReader other than as a happy customer.
