View artist songs alphabetically in the store

When I search in the iTunes Store for songs by a particular artist, how do I view the songs in alphabetic order? Some artists have hundreds and it is quite tedious to scroll through them all. What happened to advanced search?

With the newest update, 11.0.2, I can now view songs alphabetically. Now If Apple could only bring back the power search!

  • How do I sort an artist's songs alphabetically in iTunes store?

Until this week, I could go into the iTunes store, select an artist, and click on "Name" to sort that artist's songs alphabetically. With the new software upgrade, clicking on "Name" does nothing. How do we now sort an artist's songs alphabetically in the iTunes store?

lulz, I feel like I'm just picking the ones that have this question and like, pasting my reply Hope this helps!
Here is a step by step picture tutorial :
Step 1-Up thar in the top right corner, type in what artist you want (1). Or you can click "Music" at the top black bar, and then when scroll down to whatever genre you want (2).
    1.
    2.
Step 2-If you did the genre version, on the right sidebar area, there should be a "Top songs", click that, and there, you can sort however you want. It works like normal. Idk why.
If you searched artist, however, you can't just click "songs" or "see all" at the songs slidey area (really, anything you see at the top right side bar, don't click it, it won't let you sort because it's a search result list. IDK why Apple did this, but it did )
You have to click the artist's name, under the top part of the right sidebar, where it says "Artists and More" (SEE BELOW)
Once you click that, the artist page pops up:
There, click "see all" for songs:
    And then you can sort.
    I hope that helped!
LOL sorry, I just realized that I changed artists halfway. haha....^.^"

I went in to use itunes today.  It opened up right away, but I can't play any songs nor enter the store.  It displays the message ' itunes has stopped working' and then closes.  I tried removing itunes and reloading.  Same thing.  This is on my PC.  My wife can still open itunes on her PC.  Can anyone help?

  • Bring back artist/song info in the title bar (Desktop)

Why would you remove that feature? Now it just says "Spotify Premium". I'd honestly like to hear the logic behind this.

I love Spotify and as many others here use it to listen to music while at work, so having a preview of artist/song is handy. I just can't think how replacing this info with a static title would be an improvement. I'm really curious to know why that decision was made and the thinking behind it?
Otherwise, keep up the good work. CheersSkumberg wrote:

  • Copy "Artist - Song name" to the clipboard

The aim is to assign a shortcut for copying the artist and name of currently playing or selected song from iTunes to the clipboard.
    How it can be done?

I usually recommend not manipulating the clipboard via AppleScript - not because it can't be done (it can), but because there are usually better options.
In any case, since I don't know what you're ultimately trying to do...
    tell application "iTunes"
if player state is playing then
set TA to artist of (get current track)
set TN to name of (get current track)
      set the clipboard to TA & " - " & TN
              end if
    end tell
The issue is assigning this to a key shortcut, which AppleScript can't do on its own.

  • BY SONG, I see the song, BY ARTIST, I don't.

PC   Windows XP   On my iPod Nano, there's Radar Love by Golden Earring. BY SONG shows Radar Love to me, and I can select and play it. BY ARTIST does not at all show Golden Earring.

Hi Bryan, these songs DO HAVE album titles in the Album field. But looking at the Information I just dicover that all the songs who suffer from that problem have one common symptom: the "part of a compilation" box is checked. A compilation, that's a sampler, isn't it. How can the "part of a compilation" flag affect the view by artist? By the way, not only the view BY SONG but also the view BY ALBUM works fine. In this case, the album is called Rock That Party, and it lists Radar Love among its songs. Regards, Dirk

  • How to copy a playlist from iTunes to a USB (keeping artist song name etc) and the files to listen and browse in a jeep hard drive

I made a music playlist on my iTunes, perfectly ordered. I get a car with a USB input to get the songs in the car hard drive, My question is: How can I copy the playlist (with artist, song etc) with the music file (but with the name and artist instead  of the file name) in the usb so I can copy it and browse it in my car?
    Thanks

This would require renaming the files on the computer.
iTunes is not going to do this magically when copying files to the flash drive, iTunes does not even copy/sync files to a flash drive.

  • What happened to the "store/sort" arrows?

Mousing over the artist or album column in list mode used to make a button appear -- clicking it would take you to that artist or album in the iTunes store, and option-clicking it would show only that artist or that album in your iTunes library. (You could invert these defaults if you wanted to.) This option-click functionality was very useful and made it easy to locate just the music you wanted without a ton of scrolling. But with the 10.0.1 update, these arrows have completely vanished. Instead there is a button in the name column that lets you go to this song or artist or album in the store, but not within your own library. Instead I have to scroll through very long lists of albums and artists, for something I could often do with one click previously.
What's the rationale for removing this functionality?

Okay, never mind, I now see that opt-clicking the Ping arrow does what I want. The relevant type is very pale gray, and I seem to have misread it the first time around.

  • HT203164 Artist & Song Title Missing Despite Using I-Tunes

I have purchased music from I-Tunes on my work desktop, burned a CD, taken the disc home and placed it in my home desktop and when I-Tunes opens it won't recognize the song titles or artists even though they were purchased thru I-Tunes.  Any have a cure?

Audio CDs don't embed that artist & song details on the disc. Even if CD Text is enabled on burning I don't know of any ripping software that reads the data and applies it to the files. If you want to move songs between computers burn a data disk, use a memory stick, or use a portable hard drive.

  • This is a question about the iTunes Store.  I have the correct artist, title, composer, and album name for a song popular in the 1970's.  The store's Advanced Search feature can't find any of the information.  How can I get Search to find the song I seek?

What can I try if the store's Advanced Search strikes out trying to find the song I want?

Perhaps the song is not available in MP3 format, or isn't available in the iTunes Store, or simply not available in your country. (A Norwegian band's first album from the 1980s became available in MP3 format only in April 2012; an example that not everything is automatically is available in MP3 as soon as possible.)
... and before any wag says, or even thinks "it", yes - the Norwegian band's album is very good! (Still waiting for their second album, from 1982, though!)
You may be surprised at how often a song or album is not available because of "contractual problems" - in other words, someone's being greedy, difficult, or both. (Another album I like, from a UK band of the 70's, was unavailable for a long time because - and I'm quoting the band's leader - "the copyright owner wanted too much money for the album to be on CD.")
You could try looking for the song in other stores. If it's not yet available anyhwere, you'll just have to be patient. You could try contacting the band via any websites they have, and asking them about it's availability. What's the song? Perhaps I (or soemoen else) might be able to confirm it's availability on MP3 from another source.

  • TS1468 How do I apply this to the new iTunes? I cannot find any functions that allows me to view my songs in list form.

    Dear, Apple Technical Support
I have just purchased a 2nd generation iPod and I am a returning user to iTunes. unfortunately, I have not used iTunes since the year 2008. I have noticed a lot of things have changed and I am unable to properly organize my music. I have noticed that I cannot change the display of my songs and albums from icons into a list. I would like to form a list so that I may change the name of the composing artist so I can compile multiple songs into one album. Unfortunately, many of the DJ and Trance albums that I already have on my computer have various contributing artists and are then catigorized by the names of their contribiting artist. What I want to do is take all of these songs from one CD that have alreayd been divided and recombine them to form one singlar album on my itunes. I find it frustrating in having to search through 3000 songs just so I can upload my most favorite ones onto my iPod when I could just drag and drop the entire album into the iPod folder. I have also tried high lighting all of the songs that I want to combine into one album and then right click to get more information and change the name of the contributing artist so that they will automatically compile into one folder but it did not work. I also tried to drag and drop one song onto another, just the same as I would in Microsoft Media Player if I wanted to combine albums or add songs to an album, but that also did nothing except cause my computer to make a sound. I would like to know how I can optimize my itunes and make the most of what I have. Unfortunately, it seems like you company is not formiliar with the term "If it is not broken, then do not fix it". Putting asside that comment, is there anything that I can do to combine albums that I have not already tried and could you please give me any suggestions that will work so I will continue this product instead of giving up and just go back to using microsoft. Thank you very much.

The main differences between iTunes 11 and earlier versions are the loss of coverflow and ability to have multiple windows open.
In Windows, you can restore much of the look & feel of earlier versions with these shortcuts:
ALT to temporarily display the menu bar
CTRL+B to show or hide the menu bar
CTRL+S to show or hide the sidebar
CTRL+/ to show or hide the status bar (won't hide for me on Win XP)
Click the magnifying glass top right and untick Search Entire Library to restore the old search behaviour
Use View > Hide <Media Kind> in the cloud or Edit > Preferences > Store and untick Show iTunes in the cloud purchases to hide the cloud items. The second method eliminates the cloud status column (and may let iTunes start up more quickly)
If you don't like having different coloured background & text in the Album (Grid) view use Edit > Preferences > General and untick Use custom colours for open albums, movies, etc.
Edit > Preferences > General > Show list views for all media does what it says
With iTunes 11.0.3 and later you can enable artwork in the Songs view from View > Show View Options (CTRL+J) making it more like the old Album List view
View > Show View Options (CTRL+J) also contains options to change the sorting of grid based views
Within Music the Songs view should be the list you are familiar with.
As to getting things organized see Grouping tracks into albums.

  • I lost my iPod Nano. Can I retrieve all of the songs in my itunes library, or just the ones I purchased from the store?

I lost my iPod Nano. Can I retrieve all of the songs in my iTunes library, or just the ones I bought through the iTunes store?

The "bar" at the bottom does not say anything about all of your songs being on the iPod.  It just shows you how much of its storage capacity is being used, based on what is on the iPod.
If you see "On This iPod," that means the iTunes sidebar (along left side of window) is not visible.  This is easier to describe with the sidebar visible, so from the iTunes menu bar, under View, select Show Sidebar.
Select the iPod in the sidebar, under DEVICES.  There is a bar of buttons near the top, starting with Summary.  Click on Music next to Summary.  This is the iPod's Music screen, where you tell iTunes how to sync songs to the iPod.
Check the box for Sync Music.  You can choose to sync Entire music library, if (?) your iTunes music library fits on the iPod.  With this setting, your entire iTunes music library syncs to the iPod, and new songs get synced automatically.  A 7th gen iPod nano is 16GB, so your iTunes music library would have to be less than 16GB (not counting non-music content on the iPod).  Otherwise, you can choose to sync Selected playlists, artists, albums, and genres.  Then, select (checkmark) the playlists, artists, albums, and/or genres you want on the iPod from the lists below.  If you want newly added songs to sync to the iPod, they must be part of your selection.  For example, you can add them to a playlist that you have selected for syncing to the iPod.
When you click Apply, the songs from your selection sync to the iPod.  Going forward, changes to your iTunes library (based on your settings on the iPod's Music screen) sync automatically to the iPod, the next time it is connected (or when you click Sync).

  • Can you arrange songs alphabetically within each individual artist?

When you select music in the larger file it organizing all songs alphabetically, but when you go under each individual artist, the songs are not alphabetical. How can I change this so my 500 Grateful Dead tunes are easier to find?

I guess the only real way to achieve this is to go through Album view and search for the artist in the top right....dissapointed

  • ITunes 11: In the store, I can no longer sort by name/artist/album

I can no longer sort by name or artist or album when I'm in the store with iTunes 11.  Yes, I discovered the View Options in the Menu Bar. By when I select it nothing opens. Same for Command-J. It doesn't do anything either. I've tried hitting Command-J repeatedly, but nothing.
The fact is, it seems utterly stupid to have this work differently than when you're in your library---by simply hitting name/artist or album in the bar at the top of the list. Having to sort lists in the Store via a completely different method than the lists in one's library is totally counter-intuitive.
But back to my problem:  The View Options won't open for me. Anybody know how to fix this?
I've got a lot of music I wish to buy, but I need different methods of sorting, otherwise it'll be a nightmare trying to keep track of things.
    Thanks,
    Doug
