View Artwork In iTunes?

I used to have my itunes set up to where if I was playing a song, I could click on other songs and those album covers would show up. But now the album cover only shows up when I'm playing that song. How can I change it back?

Great!
Glad you got it sorted.

  • How can I view Artwork on iTunes for 1 or 3 songs per Album?

So, I am on my iTunes. On the previous Version of iTunes, you can have the list of Albums and view at the same time the Artwork whether it was for 10, 20 songs or even just 1 song. With the new version, there are four icons on the Upper Right where you can view "Cover Flow", "Album Covers", "Detailed List", "Detail List with Album Artwork"...
When I click on the "Detail List with Album Artwork" and I want to view the Artwork for those albums that I only have 1, 3, or just 5 songs, I cannot view the Artwork. I can only view the Artwork (if for example) those with more then 10 songs.
How can I view the Artwork at the same time as with those that I am able to?

I can only view the Artwork (if for example) those with more then 10 songs.
iTunes menu View > Aways show artwork.
iTunes defaults to show artwork for albums with 5 or more songs.

  • Problem with viewing Artwork after iTunes 10.5.1.42 update

Anyone able to help with question below?
I now cannot view my Artwork for my album unless i am actually playing the song.  The Artwork box in the bottom left corner reads "Selected Item", as it should, however now I cannot view the artwork for the selected item, I actually have to play the song to view the art work and its driving me nuts.
Anybody able to help or have the same issue?
    Thanks!

i'm having the exact same thing, and is driving me crazy also. at first I thought the switch to newest version deleted all my album arts but then i looked in file info and they still seem to be there. hopefully someone has already told apple about this. must be a bug in the latest update, a case of if it wasn't broken shouldn't try to fix it.
sorry i can't helpmore, suppose only thing we can do is just wait it out until next update and hope it gets fixed but don't worry, your not alone. my guess is everybody having this same problem with the newest version. my bad for using automatic update i guess..

  • Problem viewing artwork for ipod content in itunes

I would like to scroll through my ipod library the same way as the main library but the options for doing so are greyed out. There is also no artwork window and when I transfer a song from library into ipod, the artwork doesn't transfer with it. Have I disabled something?

    Hi,
Ah I see. I take it the album view and coverflow view buttons are greyed out yeah?, cos I haven't tried it myself.
Do you have album art for all the songs on your ipod? That is something else I've not checked for, I've no need to see the artwork. So, I also assume your ipod song list is different to the music you have in itunes, or else why would you want to view it in itunes?
I guess itunes is showing you what is on your ipod in the list only view cos that is all that your ipod supports. You ARE viewing your ipod after all, so the songs aren't essentially IN itunes.

  • Viewing non-embedded itunes album artwork over network

    hi
i am exploring the two methods of adding album artwork to itunes, embedded and non-embedded. my preference is to go for non-embedded, as my artwork is quite large (500Kb), as is my collection (20000 tracks). i would like to be able to view album artwork on my ipod as well as over my local network. at the moment i can't see any album artwork over the network if i use the non-embedded method - is there any way of getting this working? i can see the artwork if it is embedded, though of course coverflow doesn't work over the network at present (shame). i can only see the artwork in every track if it is embedded in every track though, which means a lot more capacity is needed on my local drive for increased file sizes (500kb * 20000) = 10GB. this isn't such a big deal on the local drive, but 10GB extra on the ipod is of course a lot of space to use for artwork. i could settle for not having album artwork on the ipod, but if it is embedded in each track then i don't have the choice but to transfer it onto the ipod (i think i've got this right). at present i am using the 'lossless-AAC script' to convert from apple lossless to AAC for the ipod, but there doesn't seem to be any way of stripping the artwork in this process, or ideally reducing the artwork to a reasonable size for the ipod. as i understand it, when i use the non-embedded method, itunes sends a small version of the artwork to the ipod. ideally i would like a similar method for local artwork, rather than artwork downloaded from the itunes store.
i am used to using a PC, and J River Media Center as my media player, which had a much better method of handling artwork. you could store the artwork in each album folder and it would be recognised automatically by the media player, without embedding, and a smaller version would be sent to the ipod. this non-embedded artwork could be recognised over the local network, and you could even have multiple artwork which would play as a slideshow in full screen mode. i am hoping that itunes will work towards such functionality, but in the meantime would like a way of at least being able to view my artwork over my local network, ideally in fullscreen mode, using cover version visualisation, without embedding into each track if possible, but if i have to embed, without all the artwork being transfered to the ipod.
    thanks
    nick.

Wait, are you saying that your album art is 500k average for each image? That's a little crazy, unless you're projecting the album art on a wall or something. You might want to run the images through some jpg compression to get them down to 70k or so.
As for getting non-embedded art on seen over the network, it's not possible right now. You might want to request this feature for a future version of iTunes.

  • Problem with artwork in iTunes 7

Since i got iTunes 7 a strange error started in my ipod video 60gb(fully updated):
First, the ipod was not showing any artwork. Then i tried to uncheck the "display artwork" field, and press apply. Then check the field againd, and press apply again. It started to optimize my artwork, but by the middle of the process, this error happened: "The ipod "Flavio" cannot be updated. An unknown error occurred
(-50).". I started searching in the internet what could this error be, and found that it is a communication problem, or something like that, but could be caused by bad (corrupted maybe) pictures, photos or artwork. I erased them all (even all the artwork) and tried the uncheck-check process again, and the same error happened. I read that it could be lack of space in my computer, but right now there are 6.6gb of free space in my c: (is it enough?) and the error still happens.
Today i plugged my ipod on a computer with iTunes 6, tried the uncheck-check process again, and surprise, it worked! Unplugged the ipod, tried playing the only song with artwork remaining, and it worked too! So i came back home and tried again with itunes 7, but the error happened again, tried the song and the artwork wasn't showing again... Ok, so i tried with a laptop, itunes 6, and it worked perfectly again, then i thought "The problem can be happening just on my computer". Updated the laptop itunes, tried unchecking-checking again, and it seemed to work, no errors, but when i played the song on ipod, the artwork was gone again! Just like when the error happened... Tried again, no errors, no artwork, tried back on my computer, error, no artwork.
2 itunes 6 -> worked, 2 itunes 7 -> problems. The only possible conclusion is that there is a bug in this new itunes, or a new way of dealing with artwork (by itunes, not by the users). Am i right? Or can anyone help me?
I was thinking about restoring, but as i am adding everything by hand, nothing automatic, it could take a lot of time to choose everything again, and to make all the playlists again... And after seeing that this could be a bug, and could happen again, i decided to post everything here before restoring, to see if there is a better solution.
Thank you for helping! (or at least for reading this huge post, and sorry for my bad english...)
    Flavio

there is some problem with i tunes 7(the7.0.1 patch also) in that any artwork found by i tunes is visible whilst viewing tracks in your library if you transfer said tracks to your ipod then the artwork is not transferred, also it you use album artwork as your screensaver then artwork found by i tunes is not used. i can only think that something is not beeing written to the id tags of the tracks. any artwork found by yourself and dragged into the relevant box on the track or album information screen(called up by apple+i)is seen on itunes and by the screensaver. i have spoken to apple support and they assured me that they would get back to me as they had to investigate.that was a month ago. if the problem really bugs you then you can drag artwork found by itunes onto your desktop and then back into the tracks id screen. this remedys the problem but is tedious to say the least. hope this helps

  • How do i enlarge album artwork in iTunes 11

How do I enlarge album artwork in iTunes 11?

    gimmetime wrote:
No, I'm asking about the thumbnails that show the entire library.  Before upgrading to 11 I was able to enlarge the artwork and also change the background color from white to black.
OK, you are referring to the thumbnails when displaying your library in "Albums" view.  TBOMK, they cannot be adjusted.  (Or at least in iTunes 11.2.2 on Windows, there does not seem to be a way, which does seem a bit strange.)

  • Viewing artwork in cover flow view...

I seem to be one of the few users of iTunes that is truly delighted with the latest release, albeit starting afresh with 7.0.1 on a new installation of OSX. That said, I find that in the cover flow view artwork downloaded from the iTunes store displays more much more quickly than the scans of covers I have added manually. At first I thought that this might be because of the higher resolution images I was using, but when scrolling I find that my scans do not show until I release the mouse whereas iTunes images display fluently at all times. A small, but irritating cosmetic point, but perhaps there is a solution...?

Not yet. I experience the same thing. Your "manual" artwork is imbedded into the song file. The new Apple artwork is retained in a separate folder in the iTunes folder. There must be a lag accessing the former, hence the artwork not immediately appearing. Remains to be seen whether Apple addresses this.
I too like iTunes 7. Seems much more organized/functional.

  • Artwork in Itunes: I still don't get it - please help me peach!

The response and the links provided by 'wrongway peachfuzz' instruct me to change artwork in itunes using 'get info' and artwork appears correctly when I follow instructions. But when I subscribe from another mac, the artwork does not appear.
I have read the response often sent by 'wrongway peachfuzz' at least dozen times. His instructions don't even require me to log in. If changing it in 'get info' would work, couldn't spammers change the artwork on every podcast to a picture of george bush or some ad for refinancing?
Subscribers won't 'get info' to see the correct artwork. I want subscribers to be able to see my artwork in their 'album' view or their 'cover flow' view.
Thanks for your previous responses, but I need more help!

Hey, sorry to leave ya hangin', but it was a long weekend . . .
    Anyway -
I think I see your point of confusion here: you were trying to change the artwork from your page in the iTunes Store, correct? (Hence: . . .+instructions don't even require me to log in+. . .) My friend, this is not done from your iTunes Store listing, okay? The steps that I have laid out in previous posts are done way before your podcast ever shows up in the store.
Let's walk through it step by step:
    1. You record a podcast onto your computer.
    2. You edit the audio for speaking errors, format the bit rate, etc.
    }}}}Right now, your podcast is just a file, sitting on your computer. It hasn't hit the web yet, and you *have not* updated your XML file.{{{{
    3. You take the file that is sitting on your hard drive, and drag it into iTunes.
    4. You follow the steps for changing artwork that I have given previously.
    5. You upload your podcast file to a server where people can download it.
    6. You update your podcast feed/XML.
See, the thing is, *no one* can change the files from the Store. That is how no spammers are able to access anything. The changes are made to the file before you upload it. And thus, when people download your file, they are getting your podcast and +the artwork that you attached to your podcast+.
Hope this clears things up for you -- let me know if it doesn't.

P.S. Peach is not a "he."

  • Artwork in itunes 12?

Why can't you control the view of artwork in itunes 12?

The iTunes 12 Get Info dialog lacks right-click context menus (at least for now) but it still accepts most standard keyboard shortcuts and drag & drop actions.
    Delete Artwork
On the artwork tab of Get Into, tap the image in question, use Backspace or Ctrl+X. Delete doesn't work.
Or, tap the image at the top left of Get Info, this time use Backspace or Delete, it is Ctrl+X that doesn't work.
    Add Artwork
Select artwork, press Ctrl+C to copy, tap the center of the Artwork tab, press Ctrl+V to paste.
Or, select artwork, press Ctrl+C to copy, tap the small image area at the top left, press Ctrl+V to paste.
Or, you can drag & drop to, or sometimes from, the same locations.
You can also copy artwork from the Get Info dialog to Windows Explorer with the keyboard shortcuts.
If the source image is on a web page right-click and use Copy Image rather than copy. (With Chrome I get a one pixel wraparound so tend to go for a temporary local copy anyway - not sure whose bug this is, but it isn't new.)
If you have multiple images embedded drag the one you want to be the primary artwork to the leftmost position.
    Replace/Remove All Artwork
The top left image box can be used to add or delete art from multiple tracks. In either case all existing artwork in all tracks is replaced/removed.
    Old Style Get Info Dialog
Select some items, right-click, hold down shift, then click Get Info from the context menu. (Use alt/option on a Mac)

  • Can't import artwork from iTunes

After loading my two music CDs onto my music library, I cannot import the artwork from iTunes stores

To have iTunes automatically download album artwork when you import a CD or add songs with missing artwork, choose iTunes > Preferences, click Store, and select “Automatically download missing album artwork.”
If you've done that, and you still can't get the artwork, the CD may not be available at the iTunes store. You can use Amazon.com to get artwork. Look up the CD at Amazon, click the artwork to display large size and drag it to your desktop. Then you can add it to your iTunes library.
To add artwork to one item, select an item in your iTunes library and drag the art file to the artwork viewer.
To add artwork to multiple items, select an item, choose File > Get Info, and click Artwork. To add art to the selected item, click Add (or drag the art file from your desktop to the artwork viewer). Click Next to add artwork to the next item.
To add the same artwork to multiple items, hold down the Command key as you click each item, choose File > Get Info, click Artwork, and drag the art file to the artwork viewer.
To add more than one piece of art to a song, drag more than one image to the same artwork box.

  • How to get Artwork into ITunes?

What do I need to do to associate artwork in ITunes? I have all the cover art for each album in each album individual folder as a .jpg. I have tried dropping the .jpg on the album in ITunes... nothing. Whenever I go to Ad Artwork it wants me to setup some kind of account. I don't want to setup any account. I already have the artwork.

In addition to the ways mentioned before, you can also select all tracks from an album, and press (mac) Apple + i / (windows) STRG + i ("Info"), which opens a separate window. If you've selected multiple tracks, the window title should read "information for multiple tracks" (or something to that effect), and there's a square at right-center of it, labelled "Cover". Drag your JPEG image into there. The checkbox besides it will be marked, to show that this "new setting" (i.e. new cover) will be embedded into the MP3 files.
To remove album artwork, select multiple tracks, STRG-i, check "cover" with empty content.
Unless you want to edit other information for all tracks, do not mark other fields.
For single tracks, there's a multi-tab window with a separate tab labelled "Cover", which works the same way.
Note: You can add multiple images to a MP3 file, but usually only the first one is displayed. (in iTunes, there'll be "flip buttons" in the cover view window)

  • Automator to import Artwork in iTunes

Hi... I wish to add artwork (book cover images) to my collection of audio books. Some audio books can have up to 100 tracks. I've searched for an automator to do the task, however all I can find is how to export artwork FROM iTunes. I won't to ADD to iTunes
anyone know if this can be done?
    thanks

To add the same album art to multiple tracks, first make sure that the album art frame is visible and displaying artwork for the selected song. If you haven't added anything to the selected track, the text "Drag Album Artwork Here" will be displayed instead.
Now, select the tracks you would like to add artwork to, and drop the image in the artwork viewer.
Adding artwork to multiple tracks at once doesn't seem to work if one or more tracks are missing the "Album" tag. If the viewer says "Album Artwork Not Modifiable" when more than one track is selected, check for empty album tags.
    Hope this helps.

  • How can I put back my iPhone as a device in View My Account iTunes in the Cloud Manage Devices?

I went into this list and noticed that I had my old iPhone 3Gs and my new iPhone 5s listed as devices. I also had 2 PC's listed.  So there were 4 devices associated wih my Apple ID.  Here is a little background.  When setting up my new phone, I had mistakenly given the new phone the identical name as my old iPhone 3GS, then realized that was a mistake because it would be hard to differentiate between the 2 phones in lists (for example: Restore backup lists is a very good example).  So I changed the name of my new phone so it would be different.
My old phone was called Bruce's iPhone and my new iPhone was called Bruce's 5s.  Even though I had changed the name of my new phone, the list of devices under View My Account > iTunes in the Cloud > Manage Devices had the 2 phones still listed with the same name, Bruce's iPhone.  I was able to tell the difference by the date the devices were established, but I did not like that.
So I used the 'Remove' button and deleted the listing for the newer listing of Bruce's iPhone.   Now, no matter what I try I can not get that new name and that device to get back on the list.  There are now 3 devices only.
Since I did this, I have developed the issue where when I sync, the system hangs on Step 7 of the Sync, "Waiting for changes to be applied". I stopped it after 3+ hours.  Then I restored my most recent backup (to the Cloud) and the next Sync worked.  I have no idea if the above action on my part is in any way connected to my developing the syncing issue.
Does anyone know how I can get that device, my new iPhone 5s, called Bruce's 5s back on this list of devices?  I seem to be able to do all the actions I want to with the devicer and my Apple ID.  But the coincidence of the above change that I ran into didn't make me smile either.
Thanks in advance for any input/help?

  • View Options in iTunes 8

Two customizable view options in iTunes 7 seem to have disappeared from iTunes 8, can anyone help me find them? First of all, those annoying little arrows that take you to the iTunes store. They appear in the list after song title, artist, and album title after whatever song you have selected. There was an option to turn them off in iTunes 7 but I can't find it now. The second one is way more crucial. In the browser up top there are three categories--Genre, Artist, and Album. I don't use Genre at all, and I had it turned off in iTunes 7 so that only Artist and Album appeared, but now I can't figure out how to do that. Is there a way to get rid of the Genre box in the browser too? Thanks for your help.

Heres a easy way to do it on mac computers. Work on mine for iTunes 8. God I hate those arrows
I"n iTunes 7, there was a preference to disable the links to the iTunes Store -- these are the small arrows that appear when you select a song in your library. In iTunes 8, however, that preference is gone. A bit of digging in the iTunes' binary found the solution, thankfully.
If you'd like to disable the iTunes Store link arrows, quit iTunes, open Terminal, and run this command:
defaults write com.apple.iTunes show-store-arrow-links -bool FALSE
Relaunch iTunes, and voila, no more arrows! To reverse this behavior, you can repeat the above command (quit iTunes first), but replace FALSE with TRUE. (Or, if you prefer, you can completely delete the added preference with defaults delete com.apple.iTunes show-store-arrow-links).
I'm sure this would have been submitted by someone at some point, but the arrows annoyed me enough to go digging for a solution -- and thanks to Kirk McElhearn for his help in finding and testing the fix!"
