we have an file (xls type) attached to an purchase record (in the me53n transaction).
The attached file is stored to archive repository .
when try to view this xls file from (in transaction me53n again], the file is downloaded as contentserver.dll..
When rename this file (to contentserver.xls for example), it can be opened in microsoft excel.
We have checked the repository definition (tr. oaco, oac3) definition - it seems to be OK.
The file can be seen in oaad transaction.
Where can we find the caause, why the xls file cannot be viewed?

Content Server 6.40 Presents a Save As dialog for ContentServer.dll file
hi All
we have installed successfully the content server 6.40 on a windows 2008 with iis 7 environment. The installation wen successfully with no errors. however when we run a test by calling the URL http://<server>:<port>/ContentServer/ContentServer.dll?serverInfo URL, instead of getting a response, we are getting a save as file dialog to save the dll file. Also, after the installation, even with the install website tick checked, the website was not installed. we had to do the installation of the website manually for the port.
With content server 620 on windows 2000 this was never the case
if anywone has an idea on how to resolve the issue, please advice

The website should get created if all the roles in IIS 7.0 are installed. Therefore, please try to install the IIS 7.0 by selecting
all the roles followed by installation of the SAP Content Server. By doing so, websites should be created automatically.
In the IIS 7.0, all the roles are not selected during the installation by default. Please make sure all the below roles are included and IIS 7.0 is installed, as per the installation manual for the Content Server on Windows 2008:

Some users not seeing all of a web form in Smart View Excel 11.1.2?
I am on Planning 11.1.2 and I have an end user who, when he opens a web form in Excel using Smart View, he only sees about 1/3 of the entire form. If in the Oracle/Planning web, the form is fine. When he uses my machine, he sees the entire web form in Smart View Excel. Is there a setting on his Excel I need to change?
Thanks. It's a limitation, if you will, of the way JDeveloper works. It essentially runs your JSF page in order to get the rendering. At design time, the phase listener is obviously messing things up since you're not in a proper secured environment - hence the workaround to bypass your phase listener at design time.

User unable to view Excel button in ALV grid. Has full authorization
Hi All,
A user in our copany is unable to view Excel button in ALV grid. Has full authorization to S_BDS_DS, S_ALV_LAYOUT.
Please note that this is not the export to Excel button. Its the excel icon which enables the users to view the output in excel format on screen.
I am able to view the Excel Button. can you pls advise what might be the possible root cause.
Are there any authorization objects as well that govern ALV Grid buttons (excel) display.
Please help.
Can we add/delete the buttongs in the ALV grid from somewhere..
Thanks,PhaniHi,
oic, only specific user, not all user.

Viewing excel sheet on iPad with top row and leftmost column frozen
I Wish to view excel sheets on iPad with leftmost column and top row frozen the way it is in excel so that one can move side wards and down with headings intact
You can try converting the top row to a Header Row and the leftmost column to a Header Column.

Problems viewing Excel 2008 attachments
Since upgrading to Office 2008, we find that we can't view Excel (xlsx) attachments. Has anyone else seen this? Is there a workaround?
Problem solved.
It turns out that during the migration to Lion, Excel.app got lost and was no longer in the Office 2008 folder. I was launching it from the dock. Restored it from Time Machine and all is well.
Stange that the program was lost, though. -
How can i view excel on my iPhone 5s ?
with my ipad4 and the same ios7, viewing works without 3rd party AppDude or hot-spur,
Not fishy at all!!!! You really think I would have taken any more of my time to post a bogus rant? We'll no, it is unfortunately all true. I want to hear from anyone who is experiencing such problems not anyone else that wants to put there two cents in. I really don't need anymore hate or negativity. Just people's experiences because I feel like I am the only one having so many problems. Thank you
Yes, I have had some unfortunate bad luck to have so many problems at the same time, but some of them are just things you cannot do on the new OS.
Thank you again -
How to sync & view Excel file(s)?

How to view excel spreadsheet in java
Hello
Is there a way to open an excel spreadsheet in java? I don't mean reading and writing from an excel file, but instead embedding excel in java. For example instead of launching excel using the Desktop class and opening a new excel window, Java would open an instance of excel and add it to Jframe or Jpanel. Sort of like what Eclipse does when you Open a file with In_Place Editor. Google returns results on how to use some windows dll file and using active x control or whatnot.. Was wondering if there is a better and simpler way..
Thank you.oplead wrote:

My first try with "embed excel in Java" returned as the first link a page from a company named JIntegra for which this seems to be their main business. Here's the link I found, just for information:

Viewing Excel Files using Tomcat - Problem with caching
Hi all,
A small part of an application I'm writing has links to Excel files for users to view/download. I'm currently using Tomcat v5 as the web/app server and have some very simple code (an example is shown below) which calls the excel file.
<%@ page contentType = "application/vnd.ms-excel" %>
<%
response.setHeader("Pragma", "no-cache");
response.setHeader("Cache-Control", "no-cache");
response.setDateHeader("Expires", 0);
response.sendRedirect("file1.xls");
%>
This all works except but I'm having one big problem.
The xls file (file1.xls) is updated via a share on the server so each month, the xls file is overwritten with the same name but with different contents. I'm finding that when an update is made to the xls file and the user then attempts to view the new file in the browser they recieve only the old xls file. It's caching the xls file and I don't want it to. How can I fix this so that it automatically gives the user the new updated file.
The only way I've managed to get Tomcat to do this is to delete the work directory and delete the file from my IE temp folder and then restart Tomcat - this is a bit much!
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.I'd a problem with caching a few years back, for a servlet request which returned an SVG file.
As a workaround, I ended up putting appending "#" and a timestamp / random number after it. The browser assuming each request was new, and didn't use the cache.
Eg.
http://myserver/returnSVG.do#1234567
where 1234567 is a timestamp / random.
Not sure whether you can do this on a file based URL... but maybe worth a shot...

Can numbers open and view excel files with filters applied?
Hi - I don't currently have iWork but was considering purchasing it. I frequently get sent excel files from work (which I view on my iPad 3) that have got filters in the column headings applied and I need to be able to change the dropdown values in the headings to see different cuts of the data in the spreadsheet. Does anyone know if the current version of Numbers allows users to do this?
Numbers has a row filtering feature, but it doesn't involve the Header or any dropdown menus. In Numbers row filtering is controlled from the Reorganize Panel which is activated from the Toolbar. Given this, I don't think an imported Excel document will have the filtering feature active. Hopefully someone who uses both Execl and Numbers will weigh in.

Viewing Excel & PDF file attachments in Mac Mail 3.6
I setup my IMAP Gmail account on my Macbook's Mail 3.6. In the advanced tab of my Gmail account preferences in Mail 3.6 under "Keep copies of messages for offline viewing:" I have selected "All messages and their attachments"
Whenever I click on an Excel attachment, I get the error message "'filename' cannot be accessed. The file may be read-only, or you may be trying to access a read-only location. Or, the server the document is stored on may not be responding."
Whenever I click on a PDF attachment, I get the error message "There was an error opening this document. The file is damaged and could not be repaired."
I then tried saving the attachments from Mail 3.6 to my hard drive, but received the same error messages when I tried to open them.
However, when I access my Gmail account using my browser and download the same attachments to my hard drive, they open up without any problems.
I have deleted the folder containing the emails containing the attachments from Mail 3.6 and re-synced it with Gmail. While it successfully completes the download of all of the messages and their attachments, the same problem occurs. Oddly enough, this problem does not occur with Word Document attachments or JPEG file attachments.
This is my first Mac and while I am extremely proficient with Windows, I am clueless with Mac OS X. I have read posts about AppleDouble and Compression, but can't seem to find those options to play around with, even though I do not think that either is the issue. Any help is highly appreciated.Sijmons,
well, I didn' got confused but only wanted to help you with your Altzheimer
Geeborg,
I used to .Mac webmail with Firefox on Windows and opened a message with an attachment (mpg). I clicked on the small triangle behind the word "Attachments" and then I clicked on the name of the attachment. This opened a window stating that the attachment would be downloaded. After some time I was asked to open the file with application xyz (I don't remember the name) or to save it on disk. Choosing to open the file finally launched Windows Media Player which played the mpg.
Can you try these steps on one of your attachments? -

I got this error message when starting Excel. The following fixed it:
1. Deleted shortcuts to HsTBar.xla in Documents and Setting
2. Disabled Smart View in Hyperion > About
3. Unchecked Hyperion Smart View for Office in Tools > Addins
4. Quit Excel
5. Started Excel
6. Enable Smart View Hyperion > About
I do not know exactly what fixed the problem as the error has not reoccured but hopefully this will help someone. Thanks for posting, this solution worked!
