View in dw and on the web different

been banging my head against the wall trying to figure this one out. my page http://coloredfortunecookies.com/dozentraditionalfortunecookies.html
below the dozen cookie order box i have a box titled "testimonials", in live page view on the web it displays properly, however in dreamweaver it displays it down much further on the page, glad it published correctly, but just kind of frustrating as to why it isn't in the proper position in dw, any ideas???

The only thing I can think of is because DW is not a browser; nor is it a true WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) editor. It has never been a true wysiwyg and I know none in the market place that can say that they are true wysiwyg editors.
All you need to do is to get your HTML and CSS validated so that browsers can display them correctly.

Compiled Views not showing up in the Web Client

Hi everyone,
I'm new to Siebel Tools. I did a simple exercise of adding an existing view to an existing screen in Siebel Public Sector. I locked the project and added the view to the screen. I did a full compile afterwards (compiled all the objects).
I ran Siebel Web Client using the SRF file that was generated (from the compilation process) and I connected to our Server database. I went to user preferences to activate the view with my login user but I could not find the view anywhere.
The same thing happened when I created a new view and added it to an existing screen. I compiled and launched the web client. I went the Administration - Application > View to associate the view with a new responsibility but the view doesn't appear in view picklist.
To test my sanity. I copied the SRF file to another machine into the Siebel Tools/Objects/ENU folder and ran Siebel Tools. To my dismay, I couldn't see the views that I just created. I thought I compiled the views (in fact I compiled everything!). Turns out that everything I just created doesn't seem to make it to the SRF file.
Am I missing a step somewhere here? Any expert help would be valuable!

Hi,
The new view what you have created wont appear in the View Pick Applet. That doesnt means the view is not available in the compiled SRF. You can just copy the view name and create a new record in the View applet and paste the view name. The View name will get stored in the Administration - Views.
Then add the responsibility of the user you wish to appear the view for the users. Then drilldown on the added responsibility and do a "Clear Cache" there. Log out and login again to verify the view in the appropriate screen.

Firefox opens and shows the web site but is shifted over to the left so only half is visible. IE8 is fine

Firefox opens and loads the web site, but it has a blank 3 inch border down the whole of the right hand side, Firefox is moved over to the left so that i can only see half of it. The red cross to close it down is still at the very top right hand corner!

Yes - well you have to make the file in a word processing Application.
You could use TextEdit (it's free) Pages (words only), or Numbers (data base) (they are part of iWorks - and may or may not be free (included) on your machine. You could use MS Office (it is not free) You could use any Open source word processor that plays well with Office (NeoOffice, StarOffice) they are free.
That's how you create content and copy/paste URLS. Then you save the file to the desktop. If you are going to make more than one file... you make a folder on the desktop and save, or drag the file(s) into it.
You attach it to your e-mail client which will compress it and e-mail it. An excellent reference is to use Help, from the menu bar, also from inside any application. From your library or book store the OS X for Dummies has a lot of useful information (you don't read it cover to cover but look up chapters about what you'd like to do)
You can also make appointments at your local Apple store for individualized help (if a store is nearby)

When I try to open Safari, I get NCSW21 and that server can't be found. This happens everytime. I am using AirPort and have a strong internet signal. I have no problem opening Firefox and surfing the web. Only with the Safari page. Can anybody help.

I would suggest that you first follow the troubleshooting that the OP did in the second link, which is to test in a new user account to see if the behavior is consistent. For surfing the web no. For writing documents you have a number of choices. Youu could buy microsoft word, it is very expesive but some do like it because it is the same as they have a t work. the second option and the one that I prefer is apple's Pages. It is available from the app store and is a very good full features program. The third and the free option is down load open office for mac, which is pretty much like microsoft wod.

I turn on the personal hotspot on the phone, connect to the ipad over wi-fi or bluetooth and surf the web flawlessly. I turn on the VPN on the ipad and cannot access my work network. I check the IP address of the phone prior to the connection of the VPN and it registers a VZW IP that the phone is supposed to broadcast. I turn the VPN in and the ipad reflects the VPN IP address that I'm trying to connect to back to the phone and THAT is what the phone tries to project. My RMS vendor and our network provider have both been identified as not being the culprit. I've spent about 8 hours on the phone with an IOS Senior Advisor and we are both perplexed by this. He has been gracious enough to maintain daily contact with me and he's forwarded it up to those higher than him.
This worked back in April of this year and quit working in May or June. That means it worked on IOS5 and quit working IOS 5.
Anyone else having these issues?

How differs soft proofing in View - Proof Colors and Save for Web - Preview?

Hi, I'm currently confused with one inconsistency. My working space is Adobe RGB and I use calibrated monitor. After I finish my work on image I go to View -> Proof Colors -> Internet Standard RGB. Image looks terribly with the overall violet/purple hue. Then I open Save for Web dialogue, I check Convert to RGB and from Preview options I select again Internet Standard RGB. Now the previewed image looks as expected. The same results I get if I manually convert image to sRGB before soft proofing and saving for web. So... what's the difference between preview in Proof Colours and in Save for Web? Thank you for your opinions.

Hi 21, thank you for your input. All what you say makes perfect sense, it is exactly how it should work and how I expected it works. My problem was, that while testing this theory in practice, I have come to different results. I expected, that if I stick to the theory (meaning keeping in mind all rules you perfectly described) I should get the same result in both soft proof and save for web preview. But... it was not the case. Save for web preview offered expected results while soft proof was completely out of any assumptions and colours were totally over-saturated with violet/purple hue. Also, Edit -> Assign Profile -> sRGB gave another result then Soft Proof -> Custom -> assign sRGB (preserve numbers), but the same as save for web preview. What troubled me was why this is so.
Today I've made tests on hardware calibrated monitor and... everything works exactly as you describe and as I expected.
Then I went back to another monitor which is software calibrated (both monitors are calibrated with X-Rite i1 Display Pro). And again... I received strange results described above. So I did the last thing I thought and disabled colour calibration on that monitor. And suddenly... both soft proof and save for web preview gave the same result.
Probable conclusion: soft proof and save for web preview (together with Edit -> Assign Profile) are programmed to use different algorithm which is evident on standard gamut monitors with software calibration. Question can be closed.

Visual Studio 2013. Viewing a PDF file via the Web Browser control in Windows 8.1

I am writing a Windows Forms application in which I need to view PDF files via the Web Browser control. When the control is given the Navigate() command, Windows takes over and asks which program I want to open the file with. All was fine with VS 2010 and
XP. I have un-installed "PDF Complete", which was the default PDF viewer, but I now get asked for an alternative.

Hi Mike,
It seems that we could use Internet Explorer to open a local .PDF file if it has the Adobe Reader. I doubt that the web control would be related to it. Like the MVP's suggset in the following thread, maybe it would be related
to certain plug-in tools in your side like the adober reader.

Playing music the screen freezes and if i want to make changes it will not let me.I go to restore factory settings and afterwards i am able to listen,view album covers,and change the type of music i want.Is there a better way to do this? Thx

When playing music on my ipad the screen freezes and i am not able to view album covers or make any changes i am only able to hear what i selected.
This is the third time it has happened since i updated to the new IOS 5.1. It never happened before.
If i go to Summary and restore the ipad to the factory settings then i'm able to run it as normal.
Is this a glitch in the new software,or a problem with my ipad?

I'm finding Multicam, combined with Compound Clips to be extrememly efficient.
I started with 2 different video clips, along with 2 different audio clips.
Layed out both clips side by side (visually, they are on top of each other on the timeline),and made that a single compound clip.
Then I laid out both audio clips on top of each other on the timeline and made those a compound clip.
So now I have
2 original individual Video shots
1 compound video shot of the 2 above side by side.
2 original audio tracks
1 compound audio track
Next I made a multicam track, and added to it all 3 video shots (2 original + 1 compound) And I added the compound audio track. I set that audio track to be "the" track.
It's just a little bit of setup, but really not that bad, and the ability to use the multicam feature to switch between shots, while keeping everything in sync is fantastic!

When running Firefox with normal view with bookmarks and tabs the display for the tab is jumping up and down about 1/4 of inch - display is ok if used in full screen but when go back to normall havers again. this ony started happening last night after

Am having problems with display hovering in open tabs. I used Full screen last night when browsing for first time and since then when I go back to normal view the window shakes up and down about 1/4 inch and have to go to full screen for steady view. The toolbars are all steady it is only the web page.

Do you have any saved bookmarks on the Bookmarks Toolbar, or that that Toolbar empty and you have it being displayed??
Try opening View > Toolbars and click on the Bookmark Toolbar item to remove the check-mark, and then see how that affects that "jumping" or vertical oscillation of the UI.
If that doesn't solve your problem, you can try the Firefox SafeMode and verify that problem doesn't exist in that troubleshooting mode.

HDV to FCP and onto the web

Hi there,
I have a Sony Z1 and film in HDV 1080i 50HTZ PAL setting, and edit usig final cut pro 5. I was wondering what the best way of exporting the footage for use on the web is. I have tried so many different methods and programs but it all looks rubbish or appears in 4:3 and not 16:9.
I would prefer to upload it to the web using flash as nearly every computer has this, but does anyone have any tips on the best program to use or way of exporting from FCP?
I have tried using macromedia flash 8 - but I dont understand how the video exporter works! I tried the flix software, but the video player controls are really rubbish. I also tried VX30 - but it kept crashing, and when it worked the video was in 4:3.
All I want is a video that I can put on the web using flash that looks good and has nice controls. It would be a bonus if it had bandwith detection too, so the quality could reflect the users bandwith.
Any ideas?

What? Didn't you know Apple lives in a bubble? There is only Quicktime and AVI. <vbg> Welcome to the world of "fighting to get files that work on Windows or in Flash".
To export as 16:9 for the web, use QuickTime Conversion and click Options, then set the size to a size you like, such as 480x270 (a 16:9 ratio would be useful for this setting).
Then export it.
Then use VisualHub or similar to convert it to Flash.
Then open the flash file in Flash, and follow the prompts, selecting the controls skin you want. Then Publish the Flash project with HTML.
Or... switch to Adobe Premiere, and simply export the movie as Flash.
