View incoming attempts to log into system

I just bought a new AirPort Extreme Base Station (802.11n) and it works well. However, with my former Belkin G router, I could view all incoming attempts to log into the system (that were blocked). I cannot seem to find any function in the AEBS similar to that. Is there, or is there other software I can use to do so?

I ran across this the other day, from JN Software, the developer of Preferential Treatment.

  • How to view which users have logged into Hyperion Planning

    Hi all,
I'm trying to determine the best way to view users that have logged into Hyperion Planning (who and when). Is there an option in Shared Services or can this be viewed through Planning by the administrator? Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

Planning has never been the best at providing that information, you can look at the statistics page in planning which is pretty poor in my opinion.
The other option is audting but once again it doesn't really audit users logging in and out.
    Cheers

    Hello CarenzaRielle,
I know not being able to access your Apple ID can be frustrating. I have located an article that will walk you through a series of troubleshooting steps to resolve this:
Apple ID: If you forget your password

Refer to the Apple ID Support page if you are unable to reset your password using the steps in this article. If you know your Apple ID password, you can also choose to change your Apple ID or change your password.

  • Is there a way to log attempts to log into a system from a login window?

We have all users log into their systems via a login window. I've noticed that if I go to the "Other Users" option and attempt to login with some bogus user name and password, none of this seems to be logged anywhere.
For example, if a system has been set up to allow, say three user id's, like TedK, JenniferH, and ThomasT, and they all are allowed to login to the system, if someone (like a stranger) should scroll down from the login options, select "other" and then enter "root" with a password attempt, none of this seems to be logged anywhere. I am NOT talking about doing this through SSH or any network, I mean at the keyboard itself.
This logging doesn't seem to be available. Is there some system setting that can be set to turn this sort of thing on?

I ran across this the other day, from JN Software, the developer of Preferential Treatment.

  • "Internal Problem" message when attempting to log into BO 6.5

EDIT The message windows states "Internal Problem" not "Internal Error"
I'm getting this simple message box when trying to launch BO 6.5 and/or Supervisor 6.5. There is no other information provided and nothing entered into the event viewer. It's happening from all workstations with BO installed so I presume the issue is on the server and not with the individual workstations.
Any ideas as to where to look?
    Thanks,
    Mark
Edited by: Mark Landry on Feb 13, 2009 6:27 PM

    Hi Mark,
Following solutions might help you to resolve the issue.
    Solution1:
Add the problematic user to the administrator user group.
    Solution2:
-search and back up old *.key and *.lsi
    - run supervisor.exe directly on server
    - if able to see login page do a save recovery of the bomain.key
    - scan repair repository if able to log in
    Solution3:
Alternatively copy a bomain.key created from a different computer
Copy a "*.rss" file and save it under the database folder.
The RSS file can be located by going to C:\Program Files\Business Objects\Data Access\
Under the Data Access folder, locate the folder which corresponds to the database you are connecting to. Within that folder you should see an .rss file.
If you still cannot see the file, close Zabo and then re-launch it and open the report. This should recreate the *.rss file that is needed to run the report.
I hope this will help you.

  • Some wrong with C_WRITE_SYSLOG_ENTRY to write some logs into System Log

We have many SAP System, in one SAP System (SAP R/3 Kernel   46D_EX2), we call the following code.
    BEGIN OF syslog_msg,
            area(2)         TYPE c VALUE 'YI',
            subid(1)        TYPE c VALUE 'T',
          END OF syslog_msg,
    call 'C_WRITE_SYSLOG_ENTRY'
        id 'TYP'  field  'I'
        id 'KEY'  field syslog_msg
        id 'DATA' field 'Hello World'.
    The orignial Data is ITM-$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
On this SAP System, the System log will be dumped out with ITM-$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
But on other SAP System (6.20, 6.40, 7.00, 7.01), the System log will be dumped with
    ITM-Hello World
What's wrong with 4.6D EX2?  and tips for this, who can help me?

    Hello Prasanth
I agree with Kareem that you should prefer the application log. If interface IF_RECA_MESSAGE_LIST is available on your SAP system this is the first choice for collecting messages AND storing them as application log.
For an example you may have a look at my Wiki posting [Message Handling - Finding the Needle in the Haystack|https://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/profile/2007/07/09/MessageHandling-FindingtheNeedleintheHaystack]
Not shown in this example is the storage of the application log. However, if you look at method CF_RECA_MESSAGE_LIST=>CREATE you see that you can add the application log references here.

  • Lost root passwd; can't log into system

I have an UltraSPARC 5 that's currently running Solaris 8. I haven't used it for years (long story) but am not trying to get it back in action. The problem is that I can't remember the passwd for root (or any other login, for that matter). I wanted to do a reinstall of either Solaris 8 or try out Solaris 9 but the system just boots straight into the existing OS load. Is there a way to force the boot sequence into the OK prompt? I'm afraid my Solaris/SPARC is very rusty these days.

    Hi
    1. You will need to know the root partition (/dev/sd0a or /dev/dsk/c0t0d0s0).
    2. Hit the STOP-A or L1-A to halt the system.
    3. Boot into single user mode, either from CDROM (boot cdrom -s) or across the network (boot net -a).
    4. Mount the root partition on /a (mount /dev/dsk/c0t0d0s0 /a).
    5. If you are using a Sun console, type "TERM=sun; export TERM".
    6. Remove the encrypted password from the root line of one of the follwing files:
    a. For SunOS 4.x - /a/etc/passwd
    b. For SunOS 4.x with shadow passwords/C2 - /a/etc/passwd.adjunct
    c. For solaris 2.x - /a/etc/shadow
    7. Now change directories to the root (cd /)
    8. Type "umount /a"
    9. Now reboot into single-user mode (boot -s). The system will not have a root password. Use the passwd command to enter a new password.

  • Missing time, so unable to log into system with out changing time.

My issue is missing time. I have a lab with about 20 mac minis on the network for students to log in.
Some days the date and time are off by 6 hours so this prevents users form being able to log in.
We can log in as admin and change the time and date we can log in again.
Has anyone else had this issue where the time is behind about 6 hours?
I dont think it is a battery issue since the day is only behind and reverted back to orginal born on date.
    Any assistance would be appricated.
    Thanks,

Thanks for the info I will try chaning out the battery on a system and see if that works. Chaning out battery on these things is time comsuming and not an easy thing to do.
I just never seen this type of behavior before on any computer. I seen when batteries die and that will cause issues but not like this.
I will get back to you to award points if this does resolve the issue.
Thanks again for the info a brody.

firefox v 3.6.13 is what I use. If I select something from "read Later" or a link from the home page to another site, I get that message - The URL is not valid and cannot be loaded. in a box that pops us a couple of times, then the site I want.

  • Cannot log into twitter single sign-on in system settings

I've got a brand-new re-install of iOS5 (gold master, but the same build as the final release) that I've tried to activate the twitter single sign-on.
I've deleted the old app. Installed the new app, and tried to sign in via the system preferences, and keep getting the "Error Signing In: The user name or password is incorrect" error.
I know they work - I added the accounts within tweetbot and the official twitter app, as wellas used the mobile and desktop web interfaces.

Ok, for those that setting the time to automatic didn't  solve the problem, I have some technical details behind the issue.  Checked the system log (you can do the same using XCode -- I did it with the paid app "System Status").  When I attempt to log into a Twitter via the system config (and it fails), I get the following in the log:
    Oct 31, 2011 9:27:18 PM
    Preferences [95]
    Unexpected error on AccountAuthentication connection.
    Oct 31, 2011 9:27:03
    com.apple.misd [147]
Allowing special port forwarding for test fixtures
    Oct 31, 2011 9:27:03
    Preferences [95]
    -[MISManager sendStateUpdate]: MIS state change: 1021 -> 1021, reason 3 -> 0
So it appears at some point the twitter connection was forwarded to a test server (or something similar). I have had every iOS 5 beta, except 2 on this phone... So I'm assuming that this is the problem. Maybe an internal setting that isn't getting reset by just reinstalling the system. The port mapping must be getting restored when a backup is restored as well. I've tried resetting network settings and then all settings to no avail. I doubt Apple will be too keen on fixing since it was dumb to use the beta on my main device (even though I'm a small time hobbiest-dev who only has one device to test on). I cannot just restore system and not backup without keeping app settings at this time. Too bad we can retire only application data.
Just though I'd provide this information in case anyone wants to confirm their system logs.
