Hi,
I think is probably a very basic question but I can't find any resolution it!
I have been using PS5 for years and when opening file locations which contain images they display (as default as large icon thumbnails). However, as from yesterday they are appearing as lists - not what I want as I want to see thumbnails of the images. Why has this happened and how do I set it back to large icons as a default setting?

Hi Egazinis,
The folder preview changed because the preferences of the photo folder itself has changed to 'List' instead of 'Tile'. To change these settings you can follow these steps:
Start Windows Explorer, and then locate the folder that you want to customize.
Right-click the folder, and then click Properties.
On the Customize tab, select the customization options you want to use for the folder.
You should be able to change the view options as 'Tile' or 'Thumbnails'.
You can also apply the same view settings to all the folders on your computer and set it as a default. To apply the same view settings to all folders, follow these steps:
Locate and open the folder that has the view setting that you want to use for all folders.
On the Tools menu, click Folder Options.
On the View tab, click Apply to All Folders.
Click Yes, and then click OK.
Note To reset all the folders to the default view settings, repeat these steps, but click Reset All Folders in step 3.
Once you have changed the view settings of the folders, when you open Photoshop, the view folder should be in the same format and view setting. You may also be able to change the view setting directly in the Photoshop window.

I'm in the middle of a text animation design treatment and unless my memory is completely failing I thought this was an option.
An example would be selecting all layers and being able to see all bounding boxes and animation paths while moving along the timeline.
Of course this could be quite a mess if you couldn't selectively chose which layers, its just with this current project it would be so helpful if
I could see the text beyond the canvas to aid in my animations.

I do understand shift + v " to "Show Full View Area" and shift + z to fill screen, etc.
and command + & - for zooming
what I'd like to do is selectively view, say, the text outside of the canvas as you can see the bounding box
which contains the text or object when selecting one or all layers in the layers column
I haven't used this feature in a while though I do recall using it in the past.
Any help would greatly appreciated

Missing "Compact List View" in View menu in v7.7

Observed behavior:
my contacts are in compact view
I want to switch them to regular view
I don't see the option in the View menu (see screenshot)

Ah, I found it: "show pictures"... which is a little counter intuitive. I guess Mac has unique options to Windows.

Right click problem: I did not know about the Yahoo sidebar issue, I have removed all toolbars from my browser from 'view' menu. There is nothing in my 'extensions' to disable. Right click is not working. What to do?

Right clicking is not working on any of the websites. I read up that it's a Yahoo sidebar issue. But, in my extentions, Yahoo sidebar is not there. I had removed all toolbars, but from 'view' menu. Now how do I get my right click to work?

How can I get Thumbnails back in the file View Menu?

My computer died and I had to re-install CS6. I had originally installed it to an external hard drive expecting that I could just hook up a new computer when the time came and everything would work as before. Not to be. I contacted Adobe and got the program re-installed. Now, when I open a file, I am unable to change the view in the View Menu to 'thumbnail' because 'thumbnail' is no longer an option. How can I get that option back?

Are you talking about in the File>Open dialog in photoshop cs6?
Could you post screenshot of what you see?
Windows 7 doesn't have a thumbnail option as windows xp, but you should be able to at least see the jpeg thumbnails without any third party programs.
If you pick Tiles or one of the three Icon options at the top, your not able to see the jpeg thumbnails?

Report Not apperaing in User's Query Report Viewer Menu

When i search for a report i created, i'm(as a normal user) not able to find any report after searching.(assigned to me or to my role.)
The view PSXPRPTSRCH_VW has two tables PSXPRPTDEFN and PSXPDATASRC .Both have oprid column which is blank and the above view's first where clause is asking for oprid.
I don't understand how then all the doc./papers on internet i read, to create Report using XML Publisher says/shows the report appears in user menu(query report viewer). May be they still using PS login to show the output?
Anybody have any idea where am going wrong?
The category,datasource,Definition,query tree all set properly. Do user need any special role/permission assigned?
BTW user can see the query report viewer menu.

The Query Report Viewer allows selection and online viewing of those reports that have a data source type of PeopleSoft Query. Existing Query security applies so that each user has access to run only the reports to which he or she has qualified Query access to the data source.
The PS query and the data source is created by user PS then how can a normal user will have access to that?
I'm bit confused here.

I have used Apple products for quite some time. I have no idea why they keep changing everything that has finally become second nature! It is now MUCH more difficult - create a playlist, show duplicates, etc. Its an absolute mess and I have yet to find anyone who does not have multiple complaints.
I have this same problem. All information I look up says use "Show duplicates", which I have done many times for years before. But now when my iPad is plugged in, that option is grayed out for me (unable to be clicked on). I went to the Apple store today and the employee couldn't even answer my questions. I am planning to go back sometime with my computer as well and beg for a solid explanation.
Wouldn't it be nice if these tracks just didn't duplicate? That seems like a proper solution that would suit me well. Until then I just plug in, arrange by song, and go through manually deleting the extras. Often. #wasteoftime #annoying #argh

After upgrading to V6, The View menu no longer shows the shopathome toolbar

The shopathome toolbar is no longer on the View menu so I can't display it.
This problem started after I upgraded to Firefox V6 under Windows XP.

[BOXI 3.0] DeskI Documents in InfoVIew - no View Menu - PDF Mode

viewing DeskI reports in InfoView I can set my preferences for "default view format" to "Web" , "PDF" or "Desktop Intelligence format".
If I set it to "Web" then after viewing a DeskI document if I click on the View menu I only get options for "Page Mode" and "Draft Mode" I don't get the option for "PDF mode"
But if I log into InfoView as Administraor with FULL rights then I do get the option for "PDF Mode"
Which security right controls the option to have "PDF Mode" on the View menu ?

this is a bug, you need to give rights for crystal report, like #export the report data# and #Refresh# to allow Deski Reports to be exported

Xcelsius 2008 Object Browser not Visible but checked on View menu

I have lost the Object Browser window. It is checked on the View menu. Even when I first start up Xcelsius it is not visible. Does anyone have any idea how to make it visible again?

Can you goto view and uncheck the option for Object browser and then re-check it again?

How to remove Expand All in view menu of tree table

I am having the exact same problem.
However, I believe that displaying large amount of data via a tree table is fine as the user is able to quickly drill in to the data of interest.
It is just that the 'Expand All' option (as implemented) does not make sense in my case.
Given that I cannot hide it, is there an easy way to change it's behavior so that it does nothing (or provide an 'No implemented' alert).
I don't have the time/experience to implement custom menu items.

How do I disable the MP3Tube tool bar when Firefox opens? I have already unchecked it in the views menu, under toolbar. It disappears when I do that, but comes back every time I reopen Firefox.

When I log on to Firefox, the home page displays a tool bar called "MP3 Tube" powered by Yahoo. I would like to remove that toolbar permanently from my start up page. I have tried to uncheck it in the View menu under Toolbars, but it reappears every time I log off and log back on to Firefox.

Part of View menu not visible

Working with a newly installed version of Pages'08, I noticed that part of the view menu is ... well, not there. View ends with "Show Invisibles" and nothing further. Normally "Zoom..." and "Show Inspector" and a bunch of others should show up, but there is nothing there. Without having actually done a precise comparison (the two computers are pretty far apart...) the other menus seem OK.
Any ideas where this could come from, and how to remedy it?

It may be a problem of corrupt preferences. Go to HD > Users > (your account) > Library > Preferences & delete the com.apple.iwork.pages.plist & restart Pages. Deleting the preference file & forcing the application to build a new, clean file is a simple first step in troubleshooting a misbehaving application.

Set poster frame not an option in View menu

Do you need QuickTime Pro just to be able to set a poster frame for a particular .MOV file? I have read on the internet that other people find this option in the View menu, but it doesn't show up for me. I have Lion installed.

I have an amazingly simple solution that worked for me:
Open the video in quicktime and press cmd+c on the frame of your choice. Then right click the video file in he finder and choose "Get Info" press cmd+v and the poster frame will be fixed.
I do not have Quicktime Pro, so this will work on hopefully any version of Quicktime.
It appears that different people have different definitions of a "Poster Frame." This gentleman is referring to the icon image displayed at the Finder level rather than a true "Poster Frame" as can be designated by QT 7 Pro, iWeb, or iTunes apps. The icon display to which he is referring can be created by either by pasting a copied frame to the "Info" window as described above or by dragging and dropping an image file (of compatible dimensions and format) directly to the "Info" widow icon area.
As to the creation of a designated "Poster Frame," if you do not have QT 7 Pro or no longer use iWeb, then your can create a "Poster Frame" using iTunes. Simply open the file in the iTunes player, locate the frame you want designated as the "Poster Frame," control-click the player window to open the context menu, and select the "Set Poster Frame" option. If the video does not already have a "Cover Art" image associated with it, the designated poster frame will be used as the cover art image but not adopted as the file icon image. If the file already has an external image associated with it as cover art, then the cover art image is used for both the cover art and the file icon image but the "Poster Frame" will still be recognized by applications that recognize/use this designation.
