View options as history states

In InDesign CS3 on my PC, the viewing options are recorded as history states. This means that if I switch between Normal and Preview modes and then want to undo my last changes, Ctrl+Z undoes the viewing mode change before undoing the previous action. This is very frustrating when I want to quickly undo and redo an action to compare the changes. I've tried looking in Preferences, but haven't worked out how to change the setting yet. I haven't experienced the same thing on any other computers or versions of InDesign. Am I missing something?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Ha! Fantastic. Thanks.

  • Make Edit time and Edit count info available in Loupe Info, grid view option, Edit History panel and Smart Collection

We all know that Lightroom can sort images in grid view by edit time or edit count. I cannot find any way to display edit time and/or edit count in view option or loupe info. I think these should be made viewable. Without them, when you have a large batch of image and you previously edited only some and come back later to finish, you don't know which ones need more work, etc.
Another useful thing is that Edit History should have an option to show the date/time of the edit. It may be shown when mouse is hovered over an edit item line.
Similarly, smart folder can filter the images by Edit Time being before/after a certain date. However, if I have no way of knowing what the edit times and counts are, this feature has little use.
Alll of the above should be a specific date like 08-20-2009 or Today, yesterday, 43 days ago, etc. Both forms are useful for different purposes.

    Good idea.
Also, it would be good if the SDK functions for updating custom metadata did not necessarily bump the edit time.

  • Where can I view my purchase history for itunes

My bank statement has a charge from iTunes,  but I do not remember buying anything and I have no email invoice for this purchase. I cannot figure out how to view my purchase history in iTunes on the website or on the app. How can I view my purchase history for any and all purchase made on my ipad? Not sure if it was an in-app purchase, book, music, etc. because I do not recall buying anything at all.

You can oly view the full purchase history via your computer's iTunes : log into your account on your computer's iTunes via the Store > View Account menu option, you should then see a Purchase History section with a 'see all' link to the right of it. Click on that and you should then see a list of your purchases.
On your iPad you can only see a cut-down version (I think it shows the last 90 days), and optionally contact iTunes Support if you have a problem with a purchase, via a browser : http://reportaproblem.apple.com

  • How can I turn on the Compatibility View Option?

In viewing a vendor's online reporting, I noticed that the report's header appears on the right, while the report's content appear on the left, creating a confusing viewing.
The vendor has recommended that I turn on the Compatibility View Option, but I cannot find this option anywhere.
Would someone direct me to the section where I can turn on the Compatibility View Option?
    Thank you!

You can try these steps in case of issues with web pages:
You can reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.
*Hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
    *Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
    *Press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)
Clear the cache and cookies only from websites that cause problems.
    "Clear the Cache":
*Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
*Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > "Use custom settings for history" > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.
*Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

  • How do I reverse the order in which files appear in Icon View option?

I took a lot of pictures on a trip recently, which I have uploaded to a folder in Finder. When I click on View Options and then Keep Arranged by Date Created, they get rearranged so that the most recent appears at the top, and the first ones taken are at the bottom. How can I reverse this order, so that they appear in chronological order?
    Thanks,
    Richard

    There might be another way.
There are utilities which can batch-rename files, including options that sort by date, begin all the resulting filenames with a common prefix, and then add a sequential "padded" filename suffix. If you then display the resulting collection of files in alphabetical order (as in Finder's Arrange by Name in icon view), they should be sorted chronologically.
I haven't tried any of these, but the site for [A Better Finder Rename|http://www.publicspace.net/ABetterFinderRename/index.html], shareware, states:
"A Better Finder Rename knows how to extract EXIF shooting date and time information from digital camera images and exploit them in creating sequence numbers or adding time and date information to the file name. "
There may be suitable freeware alternatives -search for *file renamer* in [Version Tracker|http://www.versiontracker.com/macosx>.

  • Why won't Photoshop revert to earlier history state after image resize when scripted?

I've written an Applescript to automate watermarking and resizing images for my company. Everything generally works fine — the script saves the initial history state to a variable, resizes the image, adds the appropriate watermark, saves off a jpeg, then reverts to the initial history state for another resize and watermark loop.
The problem is when I try not to use a watermark and only resize by setting the variable `wmColor` to `"None"` or `"None for all"`. It seems that after resizing and saving off a jpeg, Photoshop doesn't like it when I try to revert to the initial history state. This is super annoying, since clearly a resize should count as a history step, and I don't want to rewrite the script to implement multiple open/close operations on the original file. Does anyone know what might be going on? This is the line that's generating the problem (it's in both the doBig and doSmall methods, and throws an error every time I ask it just to do an image resize and change current history state):

As many others here I use JavaScript so I can’t really help you with your problem.
But I’d like to point to »the lazy person’s out« – with many operations that result in creating a new file on disk I simply duplicate the image (and flatten in the same step) to minimize any chance of damaging the original file if the Script should not perform as expected.

  • ITunes Show View Options - Display an option for all playlists in one go??

    Hi there
Ive got about 200 playlists and need to show the same option for each (BPM).
How can I tell iTunes to display the BPM in ALL playlists in one go?
I can't manually select it from
    View
    Show View Options
    Tick BPM
    Close Show View Options
on all 200 playlists, it would take far too long.
    Any help?
    Thanks

iTunes does not provide a way to do that.  When a playlist is first created, it inherits the "View" from how the Music library is set at that point in time.  From then on, changes to its View settings are independent of all other playlists.
There may be a script somewhere that helps.  Otherwise you have to do them one at a time.
It can however, be done with fewer clicks than you state.  Right-click any column header (preferably the one to the left of where you want BPM to show) and click the item "Beats Per Minute."

  • Seperate view options for each folder? ie Apps, Downloads, Movies etc

Hey Mac community. I'm an experienced mac user, have been all my life, but I have a question I am hoping one of you can answer. I like to use column view in the Finder and I want to sort the Applications folder by Name and the Downloads folder by Date Created. Even with the appropriate folder selected, using View Options to change the sorting criteria affects every folder. Is there a way around this?
    Thanks,
    Michael

    Hey Michael,
I'm also a long time Mac user, way back before OSX. I responded to another thread a day or so ago on a similar subject. It's kind of a long post, but you might find it interesting/helpful. Basically, how an old Mac user approaches the 10.5 Finder (which I've grown to really like, btw).
    Here's the thread link...
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1766829&tstart=60
Here's the post I put up there...
    "Re: Global Finder Window Problems..."
This is actually the default viewing system in 10.5. I little weird at first, but read on for my take on why I think 10.5 is much nicer than 10.4 and preceding OXSs.
I started using Macs in the pre-OSX days, so was used to the completely dependable and always predictable "spatial" Finder of OS9 and down. Spatial meaning, folders all opening in new windows with every window position, view setting, icon position, even scroll bar (if there is one) remembered without exception. Also, no browser mode at all.
So I tried to recreate the old OS9 default folder view in 10.4... First, create a desktop folder, set to icon view, turn off Toolbar/Sidbar, which causes nested folders to open in their own new window. Great! Now all folders within created within that folder adopt that view, right? They do, but not if you drag one to the desktop, at that point the Toolbar/Sidebar magically reappears. It also reappears if you navigate to the same folder via Dock's cascading menu system (assuming you've placed a hard drive or folder there). Another 10.4 oddity...if you have Finder set to open at the top level "Computer" when activated from it's Dock icon, it would never remember icon size and position. Sometimes even forgetting window size/position (at least my install of 10.4 did this). On and on....life with the forgetful, stubborn OSX Finder.
However, 10.5 is fantastic at remembering folder view settings. Only thing is, that's not turned on by default. Instead, the default behavior is for folders to adopt the previous folder view setting. This is actually not a bad thing if you prefer to use the browser style navigation the Finder offers. You alter a view setting, list view for example, browse a while, then change it to icon, continue browsing, etc, etc... Thats 10.5's default behavior. To make a specific folder remember a view state, all you have to do is set the view you want, open the Show View Options and check the Always Open In... check box. Now, it will very dependably remember it's view state.
Personally, I've always had my own ideas about how the Finder should behave, and have suggested them to Apple. I've always thought there should be a separate Finder/Browser app that boots up from the Dock Finder icon. It always opens with the Toolbar/Sidebar on (ie: all folders are navigated to via a single browser window). You set it to some browser friendly view (ie: list, column), and it retains that view state as you browse no matter what view settings you may have set for an individual folder. That's the Finder/Browser. To see unique pre-folder view settings, you open the hard drive icon from the Desktop. It opens with the Toolbar/Sidebar off (ie: all folders open in new windows). You could consider this to not even being the "Finder application". Just think of it as "manually looking at the contents of the hard drive". As you drill down, opening new windows, you can create view states which are always remembered when opened via double click the hard drive from the Desktop.
I attempted to created this behavior in 10.4, but the Finder was just forgetful enough, and stubborn enough, not to cooperate fully (see explanations above). However, in 10.5 it works beautifully. I first set the Finder Preferences to open "Computer", opened the Finder via the Dock icon and set it to Column view. From re-boot to re-boot, this set up is remembered exactly, even the window size and position. This is great for browser navigation.
For "manually exploring" (or as some referred to as "spatial"), you must first tell every window on your hard drive to "Always Open In...." whatever you want you default state to be (other wise it will just open in the state in whatever the most resent folder was opened in). I created a script for this with the settings as...Toolbar/Sidebar off & icon view. I then ran the script on the entire drive, and all sub-folders. Over time, I've changed the settings of folders I want to open differently (mainly list as apposed to icon), making sure I open the View Options and rechecking "Always open in..." to whatever adjustment I made. My drive is in great order now and remembers every view detail. Any windows I don't mess with default to a completely predictable "Icon View".
So 10.5 gives me the best of both worlds. Very reliable spatial (ie: old fashion manually opening window after window....handy for dragging files around the hard drive), and super streamlined browsing...good for navigating to and opening files quickly.
My 3 cents...sorry for the long post.

Kindly suggest what will resolve this.
    Thanks

    Again I left something.
Registered SPN, Management servers came out from gray state, agents were in gray state.
went through below thread, checked "use network name for computer name" option in failover cluster 2008. It resolved the issue.

  • Sometimes Undo is "Undo Save History State for Image"...

Anyone know why the Undo command occasionally produces "Undo Save History State for Image" rather than a proper undo of the last operation?

I am aware of your contribution to this forum and genuinely have utmost respect for what you say, however without getting too heavily into the semantics of the meaning of the word “bug” I would truly appreciate your thought on this …

If you export (or also print) an image, an entry is inserted into the develop history of the image. Although these steps (export, print, ...) cannot be physically undone, the undo removes this history step from the develop history of the image. This makes sense and - IMHO - is not a bug at all.

Would it not be reasonable that when a user requests an “undo” that they would expect this to undo the last thing “they” did regardless of what any background task is doing?
If this does occur when performing some background task on several hundred or thousand images does this mean that they could struggle to actually achieve any meaningful undo operation on what they are currently working on because they could be attempting to undo many state changes?      If so, could one consider that from a user’s perspective the undo mechanism is actually broken in this scenario?
If they request an “undo” and it does not perform to the users reasonably expected behaviour would it not reasonably be considered at least undesirable if not a bug?
If they perform an “undo” and they get this message have they actually undone something which might be important?
Even if it has no ill effects the message alone could be unsettling and confusing to users?
You say it makes sense and I know I’m slow, but I would not expect a user to see this message when the user wants to undo for example the modification to exposure or other slider they have just changed.
I’m not hung up on this as I have seen no ill effects other than mild inconvenience; however I would respectively appreciate your views on how this “makes sense” from a user’s perspective.

  • Annoying 'Could not use the history eraser because the current canvas size does not match that of the history state' message

Does anyone know if it is possible to get rid of the message 'Could not use the history eraser because the current canvas size does not match that of the history state'?. It comes up if I hit the alt/option key while I have the eraser selected. Something I do by accident all the time.

The way you've described it, one gets the distinct impression you do not have a clue as to what the history brush does and how to use it.
You need to read up on it.  Read the Help files and google for tutorials.
First you need to create an image (with actual pixels in it), edit it as desired, then make a snapshot of the edited image, then target the snapshot with the history brush tool, then go back in the History panel to the step before your edits and selectively paint your edits in with the History Brush.

ORA-02243:invalid ALTER INDEX or ALTER MATERIALIZES VIEW option
I checked the metalink, got nothing.Anyone can help? Thanks!

    I also googled some info,like:
    Oracle Error :: ORA-02243

    Cause
An option other than INITRANS, MAXTRANS,or STORAGE is specified in an ALTER INDEX statement or in the USING INDEX clause of an ALTER MATERIALIZED VIEW statement.

But I still can't find the clue.

  • Year/Annual planning/view option in iCal

I would like to find a way to print a Year/Annual planning/view option in iCal, but I could not figure out a way to do it.
Does anybody knows how to do do it?
If it is not possible, can anyone recommend a script/plugin to achieve it? Or another software that can import iCal calendars and then print Year/Annual planning/view?
    Thanks,
    Anselmo

Me too! Please please someone reply to this request! This is a vital option that needs to be made available as a view AND print option.
Some small improvements to the print dialogo window would also be appreciated:
I think it would be more efficient if the calendars/subscriptions to print were all OFF by default: I would imagine it is more often the times you are printing a selected calendar, rather than all of them together.
The frame containing the calendars also needs to be expandable making them all visible at a glance. Scrolling through lists in a dialog is a no-no (or for Windoze).
Thanks for any help on this.

  • Is it possible to view your current history for a single tab in safari lion

Is it possible to view your current history for a single tab in safari lion?

Not once the tab has been closed. If it hasn't, clicking and holding the Back button will display the titles of recently visited sites in that tab.

  • View option in bi publisher 11g

    Hey,
There is a bi publisher report embedded in obiee dashboard page. There are several view options in the report. When we try to view the report as excel or rtf it gives a pop up to either open or save.It acts more or less same as Export to Excel/rtf option.
Is there any option to make them viewable in the same window .Is this a tool limitation?.
Kindly reply if you faced the same issue
    Regards,
    Ishwarya.

    as far as i know
in 11g from 11.1.1.6 you can hide the entire parameter section not the single parameters which needed check this link
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E25178_01/bi.1111/e22257/whatsnew.htm#CHDCDBCA
New report viewer action button to show or hide parameters
This release adds an action button to the report viewer to enable users to hide or show the parameter region. This enhancement complements the new parameter display options. When report parameters are configured to display as a dialog or in a separate full page, the parameter display region is dismissed when the viewer displays the report. Use the Parameters button to redisplay the parameter region to make new selections.
