View Options Don't Stay Changed

I can change my view options just fine. But if I exit LR and return, the View Options are back to where they started prior to my changing them.
How do I make them sticky so they remain static between closing and opening LR?
I use V1.4 and WinXP
Thanks in advance,
Christopher

I remember experiencing the same thing you are - it would lose track of what you were previously viewing. If I recall, it would take you back to Album view at the very top.
I just tried to reproduce the issue by clicking Songs, scrolling down and clicking a song, clicking iTunes Store, then clicking Library to go back. It took me right back to Songs and showed the song I selected, as expected.
If you aren't running iTunes 11.0.2 (26) - check iTunes > About iTunes and make sure it does NOT say (25). If it does, install build 26 overtop by downloading iTunes at itunes.com. If you are running bulid 26 and you're still experiencing this issue, let me know and I'll try to reproduce it on my machine! Then we can file a bug report and encourage Apple to fix it.
But it appears to be working as expected from my experience with build 26.

  • Finder View options won't stay set 10.7.2

Finder view options need resetting each time i log out or restart. How can i make them permanent?
Finder window has no locational or size memory, reverting to a default size and position on start up?
Any ideas how to fix this greatly appreciated

I finally know what causes folders to lose their view settings - even if you have set them to "Always open in..." a particular view (but I do not know how to fix it).
The trigger is setting any window to "column" view. Try it.
    (1) Create a new folder, and set it to your preferred view (but not column view). Close the folder and re-open it to verify that it is in the view you have set. You can even set it to "Always open in..." that view, if you like (it doesn't matter).
    (2) Now open up any other finder window or folder, and switch it to column view. If it is already in column view, switch it to some other view and then back to column view.
    (3) Now go back to the folder you created in step 1 and open it. Presto: column view. (Aargh!)
I confirmed this with a helpful and sympathetic Apple support staffer at the Genius Bar in my local Apple Store. Unfortunately, he had no solution, but noted it as an apparent bug in the 10.7 finder.
This is an extremely reliable behavior, that I have confirmed on 5 different machines all running 10.7.2. It is also an extremely frustrating behavior that I hope Apple fixes soon.

  • Finder View options, won't stay set after restart or log out

I like to have my application and utility folders (in the finder side bar) open in icon view and arranged by name and my Home and Movies folder open in list view with files arranged by name.
Each time i log out of my computor or restart the view options i have mentioned are reset, which is extreamly frustrating.
I have also noticed that the finder window now opens in a small size in the middle of the screen rather than being aligned to the left hand side as like to have it set.
This problem has only occoured recently, i think after deleting some "relic" files using Cleanapp.
Any ideas on how i can sort this out greatly appreciated

  • View options won't stay

I just "up"graded to iTunes 11.0.2.26 on Windows 7 and I am having trouble with the view options.  I open the view options and uncheck the "cloud" one, and it goes away.  However, each time I start up iTunes again, the **** cloud column is there again.  How can I get it to stay gone?

" every time I reconnect my iPod to my Mac, the view settings go back to the default, most of which I have no desire for! How can I get iTunes to keep the options I set?"
It appears to be a bug. It's been mentioned here many times before. Send your feedback about it here.

  • IPod View options won't stay

I will set my iPod view options (for the main library) to what I want, as in "Title, Artist, Time, Ratings, Date Added", and every time I reconnect my iPod to my Mac, the view settings go back to the default, most of which I have no desire for! How can I get iTunes to keep the options I set? I have tried everything under iTunes Preferences, but it won't keep. This has to be a bug, right? The iPod is a 8 Gig Nano, new generation. This didn't happen with my older iPod Nano.

  • The view options won't stay?

I've used Mac OS for a very long time now and am at the least an intermediate user both in hardware and software but this is perplexing. For whatever reason, whenever a Finder window is opened (disk image just mounted, clicked the Finder icon, opened my documents) it always opens in Column View, even if I already set the folder to icon view. It doesn't seem to be saving the .DS_store file correctly or something, because if I close the window and open it again, it resets to column view. Every once in a while it will stay in icon view but it's rare.

Since I got in trouble jumping in before I really knew what I was doing, tell me the difference between "Root User" and the one that locks the files so you
can't access them from Disk Utility.
I'm putting this in my "ToDo" file for a future time when I'm tuning/cleaning my

  • Useful View Options in Time Machine: Changed Files?

I set up time machine and a day later I can browse around. Very cool graphics.
But it seems to be missing something useful (essential?) -- a way to look at what changed from backup to backup. Looking at the Info on a particular file on a particular backup I can see that the Last Modified Time is 3 weeks ago. But if I'm making changes to a set of files, figuring out WHICH backup I want (2,3 or 4 hours ago) would be easier if I could see what I've changed. It would be especially useful if "backups" where nothing changed were simply omitted.
Just for "fun" I restored a backup from a couple hours before, during which time I had not used the computer. And strangely, TM said it was going to restore some pdf from my desktop. I kept the original, and the two files were identical AND had the same modification time. (That's when I went to try to explore what files have changed unsuccessfully).
There's obviously a bit of a technical issue with knowing the changes from the latest backup to the current machine state. But going the other way TM must have that information.

As far as I'm aware the start & stop times are stored in the library database, not the media files. If you backup/restore/transfer the whole library then the settings are included. If you create a complete copy of your iTunes folder on another drive you can connect to that copy by holding down option/alt as you start iTunes so you can check that everything is working properly before you send the Macbook away.

  • Changes don't stay changed

I don't know what is going on here. It worked fine before.. I am trying to change brightness/ contrast etc on old geneology records.  The records have been imported as jpegs in two parts and combined in PSE8.  Then saved as jpegs.  I reopen to try and adjust the contrast / brightness etc and each time I make a change it reverts back to the original.  It is very frustrating.
Also what I see on the screen, is much lighter than what prints, how can I get it to print what is on the screen instead of a darker copy
Any help, this is really frustrating.  Right now the only purpose the PSE program is serving is to join the records (which it does well) but for the cost I need it to do much more
    Thanks..
    jd

Please provide the details of your work-flow, step-by-step, from the initial importation of the two parts, to enhancement, and saving.
What is the resolution of the "input"  parts, and of the file with the combined parts?
The disparity between what you see on your screen and the prints may require calibration of your monitor, determination color management by PE or the printer, type of paper & ink, etc.

  • When importing a CD, the 'View Options' do not stay as I have set them. Ugh

(In iTunes 7), When I insert a CD, the 'DEVICES' part shws the disc. When I click on the disc, the columns of data is pretty minimal. I NEED to see the BPM, Year, etc.. I have to set it for EVERY device (CD) that I insert. Um, can you say ANNOYING?!?
Is anyone else seeing this too? Is there a way to fix it?
    This rots Apple!

You are not going to get a reply here from Apple. They do not use the forum. Do you have a default reminder set for all events?

  • The View Options are not stable

I suspect this has been voiced before but I can't find the right thread.
My View options do not stay stable. My columns change from "Sent" to "Received" and vice versa, etc. Could someone point me in the right direction on this ?
    Thanks in advance.

Yes. Although I'm new to all this so perhaps I shouldn't be- I'm probably just being a complete idiot.

  • "Show View Options" is missing

I had all the icons on my desktop at work set to a fairly large size because it comes in handy when I'm doing photoshop stuff to be able to see a large preview of the icon. I was working on it this morning as normal, then left work to go on a shoot, and when I came back someone else had logged into the other acct on the computer.
I logged them out, and logged back in as me and now my desktop icons are really small, and when I go to "View" and "Show View Options" to try and change the size back, the "Show View Options" is no longer in the "View" menu. Nor is it in the "Finder" window itself when I click the little "gear" icon. It's just simply not there. I have NO idea what happened. It was working fine this morning. I don't know if someone else logged in and a new update changed everything, but when I returned, everything was different. This is REALLY annoying for what I do, because I REALLY need to be able to see pictures clearly, and having them this small makes it impossible, and I can't figure out WHY I can't change it back. Anyone????

Some kind of application that you installed, even if you don't know it did it, changed a setting in the finder preference file.
The solution: Go to home/library/preferences and open com.apple.finder.plist, then scroll to the bottom of the file and you will see and option named: ViewOptions-inmutable, make sure the checkbox is not selected, or that the boolean value is the opposite of the one it has right now. So if it has TRUE change it to FALSE. Save the document and use the CommandOptionEscape combination to see the Force Quit Apps windows, select the finder and click the Relaunch button.

  • "Full Screen View" option for browsers

I produce iMovie projects such as:
    http://firmimage.ca/10delisle110.php
I would like to to add a "Full Screen View" option & don't know how.
    Please help.
    Thanks in advance

They key is to "target" the QuickTime Player instead of the browser plug-in.
This is done with new "tags" in the special html code and a secondary .mov file that acts as a "poster movie". When the visitor clicks on the poster movie the 'href' (linked file) URL loads in the QuickTime Player. The poster movie could be a small image file (saved as .mov) to act as a button.
QuickTime Player Pro can add special "Presentation" properties to a file such as "Full Screen" and "Quit when done".
Snow Leopard's QuickTime X doesn't seem to like the stored Presentation feature, however. One of my pages that shows how it works (sort of). View Source to see the html code.

  • System wide setting for View Options

I like to view documents/folders in Name order, this is simple to do via the View Options menu and select Name for the particular folder you are viewing at the time, there must be a way to set this parameter for the whole system, but i can't find it ...... anyone ??
    Thx
    John

    John,
Open up a finder windows and 'right' click, selecting 'Show View Options'. You can change all your defaults which should change subsequent folder options. Just change arrange by to what you want and click 'Use as Default' on the bottom.
