View options won't stay

I just "up"graded to iTunes 11.0.2.26 on Windows 7 and I am having trouble with the view options.  I open the view options and uncheck the "cloud" one, and it goes away.  However, each time I start up iTunes again, the **** cloud column is there again.  How can I get it to stay gone?

" every time I reconnect my iPod to my Mac, the view settings go back to the default, most of which I have no desire for! How can I get iTunes to keep the options I set?"
It appears to be a bug. It's been mentioned here many times before. Send your feedback about it here.

I will set my iPod view options (for the main library) to what I want, as in "Title, Artist, Time, Ratings, Date Added", and every time I reconnect my iPod to my Mac, the view settings go back to the default, most of which I have no desire for! How can I get iTunes to keep the options I set? I have tried everything under iTunes Preferences, but it won't keep. This has to be a bug, right? The iPod is a 8 Gig Nano, new generation. This didn't happen with my older iPod Nano.

  • Finder View options won't stay set 10.7.2

Finder view options need resetting each time i log out or restart. How can i make them permanent?
Finder window has no locational or size memory, reverting to a default size and position on start up?
Any ideas how to fix this greatly appreciated

I finally know what causes folders to lose their view settings - even if you have set them to "Always open in..." a particular view (but I do not know how to fix it).
The trigger is setting any window to "column" view. Try it.
    (1) Create a new folder, and set it to your preferred view (but not column view). Close the folder and re-open it to verify that it is in the view you have set. You can even set it to "Always open in..." that view, if you like (it doesn't matter).
    (2) Now open up any other finder window or folder, and switch it to column view. If it is already in column view, switch it to some other view and then back to column view.
    (3) Now go back to the folder you created in step 1 and open it. Presto: column view. (Aargh!)
I confirmed this with a helpful and sympathetic Apple support staffer at the Genius Bar in my local Apple Store. Unfortunately, he had no solution, but noted it as an apparent bug in the 10.7 finder.
This is an extremely reliable behavior, that I have confirmed on 5 different machines all running 10.7.2. It is also an extremely frustrating behavior that I hope Apple fixes soon.

  • Finder View options, won't stay set after restart or log out

I like to have my application and utility folders (in the finder side bar) open in icon view and arranged by name and my Home and Movies folder open in list view with files arranged by name.
Each time i log out of my computor or restart the view options i have mentioned are reset, which is extreamly frustrating.
I have also noticed that the finder window now opens in a small size in the middle of the screen rather than being aligned to the left hand side as like to have it set.
This problem has only occoured recently, i think after deleting some "relic" files using Cleanapp.
Any ideas on how i can sort this out greatly appreciated

  • The view options won't stay?

I've used Mac OS for a very long time now and am at the least an intermediate user both in hardware and software but this is perplexing. For whatever reason, whenever a Finder window is opened (disk image just mounted, clicked the Finder icon, opened my documents) it always opens in Column View, even if I already set the folder to icon view. It doesn't seem to be saving the .DS_store file correctly or something, because if I close the window and open it again, it resets to column view. Every once in a while it will stay in icon view but it's rare.

Since I got in trouble jumping in before I really knew what I was doing, tell me the difference between "Root User" and the one that locks the files so you
can't access them from Disk Utility.
I'm putting this in my "ToDo" file for a future time when I'm tuning/cleaning my
files. Right now I have a work in progress.
Thanks again DB, my indebtedness is compounding daily.

  • View Options Don't Stay Changed

I can change my view options just fine. But if I exit LR and return, the View Options are back to where they started prior to my changing them.
How do I make them sticky so they remain static between closing and opening LR?
    I use V1.4 and WinXP
    Thanks in advance,
    Christopher

I remember experiencing the same thing you are - it would lose track of what you were previously viewing. If I recall, it would take you back to Album view at the very top.
I just tried to reproduce the issue by clicking Songs, scrolling down and clicking a song, clicking iTunes Store, then clicking Library to go back. It took me right back to Songs and showed the song I selected, as expected.
If you aren't running iTunes 11.0.2 (26) - check iTunes > About iTunes and make sure it does NOT say (25). If it does, install build 26 overtop by downloading iTunes at itunes.com. If you are running bulid 26 and you're still experiencing this issue, let me know and I'll try to reproduce it on my machine! Then we can file a bug report and encourage Apple to fix it.
But it appears to be working as expected from my experience with build 26.

  • View options won't stick

I work for radio and use iTunes to rate tracks for broadcast. Every time I pop in a new CD, I have to select View > View Options > My rating... Is there a way to make this the default view or to make this columns stick?
    Thanks a zillion

The problem is only on SOME folders, like the Utilities one. Other keep the settings just fine!
did you run the commands I gave you? you can reset only the particular folders but then you need to delete just the .DS_store files for those folders. all finder windows should be closed and this has to be done from terminal (or using Onyx). for the Utilities folder it would be
    rm /Applications/Utilities/.DS_Store
    killall Finder
Yes, I deleted the DS-Store file from the Utilities folder and the plist and killed Finder.
was the folder closed when you did it? that's important. if it was and this is still happening then I don't know what's going on.
I then thick the option to always show in icon view resize the window. When I kill the Finder the window is at its smaller default size. When I logout or restart the window opens in list view. The folder is bewitched!

  • Show all menu options won't stay. . .

I've opened, changed to "show all menu items" closed, reopened, and still when I want to place something, I have to click down at the bottom to show that option... why won't it stay there like the earlier versions? I'm using CS3.0.4.
    Thanks

    You're using CS3 5.0.4.

  • When importing a CD, the 'View Options' do not stay as I have set them. Ugh

(In iTunes 7), When I insert a CD, the 'DEVICES' part shws the disc. When I click on the disc, the columns of data is pretty minimal. I NEED to see the BPM, Year, etc.. I have to set it for EVERY device (CD) that I insert. Um, can you say ANNOYING?!?
Is anyone else seeing this too? Is there a way to fix it?
    This rots Apple!

You are not going to get a reply here from Apple. They do not use the forum. Do you have a default reminder set for all events?

  • The View Options are not stable

I suspect this has been voiced before but I can't find the right thread.
My View options do not stay stable. My columns change from "Sent" to "Received" and vice versa, etc. Could someone point me in the right direction on this ?
    Thanks in advance.

Yes. Although I'm new to all this so perhaps I shouldn't be- I'm probably just being a complete idiot.

  • "Use iCloud" setting won't stay on for Pages

I am experiencing the same problem on both my iPad 2 and iPhone 4s. I am attempting to utilize Pages with iCloud. iCloud is functioning fine; calendar events are syncing across all events, backups are being made, etc.
However, I can turn "Use iCloud" on within Settings > Pages on BOTH devices. The option stays on, until I open Pages on that device. Then, it automatically reverts to off, whether I create or edit a document within Pages or not. I've tried every combination imaginable of killing both apps, enabling "Use iCloud," restarting device before launching Pages, etc. But the problem persists on both devices. Needless to say, nothing is syncing. I have "Documents & Data" on within iCloud settings.
Has anyone else seen this issue, or can anyone shed some light on it?
    Thanks for reading.

Solution found. I apologize for creating this trhead. Didn't see this solution until "More like this" displayed while re-reading my question.

  • Drive information "Show View Options" incorrect, screen won't turn off

    1) Has anyone else had the issue when you turn on the "show view options" to make it so I can see the hard drives total space and available space below the icon, BUT it's not accurate.
I'll be moving large files and it says say "7gb" when I know I have more after emptying my garbage can. I open finder and the total available is like "25gb". If I do an information (apple + I) it also confirms my finder saying I have way more disk space. So I can only make out that the show view options for disk space is incorrect. I believe when I turn this option off and turn it back on in a couple days after a reboot it seems to read the disk space correctly. What is the deal with this?
    2) other question is that I like to have my monitor turn off after 1 min when i'm plugged in to AC. I would say 25% of the time when I'm plugged in it won't do this and I have to reboot for this function to work. If i'm plugged into AC, i want it to go black after 1min of no activity.
for both questions, this is a clean install of tiger to the newest build and I do disk permissions every week. But I still get this problem.
any insight would be fantastic as these are just small problems I can't seem to figure out without a clean reboot.

  • Out of the blue, my AppleTV went to a screen that had two icons, Computers and Settings. Why won't it go the the usual TV screen with viewing options? Help!

Out of the blue, my AppleTV went to a screen that had two icons, Computers and Settings. Why won't it go the the usual TV screen with viewing options? Help!

Here's what finally worked for me with Apple TV 3rd generation. Out of the box, when setup with wi-fi, it breezed through without any issue. As soon as I powered down and connected it to another tv (same wi-fi network), it got stuck at setting date/time. The remote would help in getting out of it, but the home would only have "Computers" and "Settings" and pretty much useless except for AirPlay. Here's what I did to resolve this:
    1. On your main router, temporarily disable the firewall or set it to the lowest setting allowable (a reboot of the router maybe required).
    2. Restart apple tv via the "restart" option in the "General" option in the main settings menu.
    3. It should breeze through and not show the "Setting date/time" screen.
    4. Once it loads up properly, turn on your fire wall as before  (a reboot of the router maybe required).
I think it worked for me out of the box, but auto-update to the latest software introduced this bug. So, everytime apple tv tries to synch with the time server, this issue will come back. To disable this, I turned off the "auto time synch" option in Settings -> General.
I am fairly confident that I'd be able to use steps 1 through 4 anytime this recurs. Possible scenarios causing recurrence of this issue:
    1. Unplugging the power to apple tv or power failures.
    2. OS updates.
    3. Restoring apple tv using "Restore" or via micro-usb and iTunes to the lastest OS.
Hope this helps. Please post if this works for you.

  • My iPad2 won't stay in the horizontal view position

My iPad2 won't stay in the horizontal view position. I have it unlocked so I believe it should switch between views as I move it.  Before I make a trip to the Apple store I want to make sure it's not user error!

Unlocked allows the screen to rotate as you rotate the device. Locked is supposed to keep the screen fixed in one orientation. However the function of the switch on the side can be swapped between orientation lock and mute, so it might not be perfoming the job you expect it to. Check Settings > General > Side Switch.

  • Applications Folder won't stay in Icon View

In the Applications Folder I want to have my icons arranged in a certain way at a certain size and always open in that view, but they never stay that way after I switch my mac back on.
    I have tried everything:
    1. Ticking "Always open in icon view". The tick is always gone next time I switch my mac back on. In all other sidebar folders this tick remains so I always get the view I want, along with icon order and icon view which is OK for other folders - but not Application Folder. It always opens in List View so when I change it to icon view, my icon sizes and order are back to default.
    2. Arrange by "Snap to grid" - still opens in List View.
    3. Tried "Set as default" in icon view - still opens in List View.
    4. Deleted DS Store in Application Folder, as advised elsewhere, and setting it up again with "Always open in icon view". Still opens up again in List View.
    5. Deleted "com.apple.finder.plist", as advised elsewhere, and set everything up again, but still opens in List View next time I start up my mac.
Why does the tick in "Always open in icon view" keep disappearing for my Applications Folder next time I start up?
How can I have this folder always open in icon view?
Something is not right somewhere but I don't know how to make it right.

Yes, I have done everything as you've outlined. It has worked as it should for all other Finder/Sidebar folders - Documents, Downloads etc, whether permanently list view, icon view etc.
I also set up the Applications Folder the way I want it, tick the "Always open in icon view" box, then the next time I switch on the tick is gone and it's opened in list view. All other Sidebar folders are fine, and still have the box ticked.
It's just the Applications Folder - something seems to be wrong somewhere and it's not anything I've done, or not done as it works with the other folders.
