View pdf on Treo Pro

I receive pdf documents created by Oracle pdf creator and the Adobe Reader version 2.5 supplied with the Treo Pro opens blank pages. If I open them on my pc and resave them using Adobe Acrobat Pro then transfer them back to the Treo Pro I can view them fine. I presume this is an issue with the Oracle pdf creator but there is nothing that I can do about that. Does anyone know if any third party pdf viewer software will open these files?

Not "the" Oracle, Oracle the mainframe operating system.
It comes up as PDF version 1.1 (Acrobat 2.x). But I can open it fine using my pc version of Acrobat Pro. Then if I save it from there and send it back to the Treo Pro I can open it fine on the Treo Pro. It also increases from the original 3559 bytes to 6702 bytes and becomes PDF version 1.6 (Acrobat 7.x). Maybe Acrobat LE can't cope with version 1.1 files? I will create a version 1.1 file and try it and let you know.

Problem Using Back Button in IE When Viewing PDFs with Acrobat Pro

I have an administrative page on my website where I view PDFs of form data submitted by my clients. It has worked fine all along, but suddenly a problem. When I view a PDF, I could always hit the back button and it would take me to the Administrative Interface (of all of my forms). BUT now if I hit the back button it takes me right back to the same form (page) I'm viewing. Below if the Administrative Interface....It may be hard to see but on the left side is a link for the PDFs of available forms. Clicking on the link opens the form...but again when I then click back I'm supposed to return to this administrative page...but instead back viewing the exact same form. HELP!

I get the error "Cannot use adobe reader to view pdf in your web browser. Reader will now exit. Please exit your browser and try again" in Windows 7 x32 and Windows 7 x64 with Acrobat pro 8.1.7. This happens when trying to open a PDF file in Internet explorer 8.0.760 or when I open a PDF in Quickbooks 2008. If I answer ok or cancel the file opens normally. If I open acrobat 8 first then the pdf files open as expected. I also tried a copy of Acrobat reader with no difference in the outcome. Since this happens on two different computers one fresh copy of windows 7 x64 the other an upgrade to windows 7 x32 and they used to work before the change to windows 7, I assume there is some kind of incompatibility with windows 7 and acrobat. Is this a known issue and will it be fixed in an update to acrobat in the near future?

tvandersluijs - I'm sorry if that screwed up your machine however:
1. What version of Adobe Reader are you using because as you can see the registry entry is for Adobe Reader 9, if ur using Adobe Reader 8 then u need to specify ur version as PAllens entry suggested - "E.g. "C:\Program files\Adobe\Acrobat [version]\Reader\AcroRd32.exe""
2. I've used this solution significantly because I have come across this specific issue for multiple users.
3. All the registry entry does is tell Windows what program to use by default to open/view PDF documents.
My intention wasn't to screw up ur machine or anybody elses as I said I've used this solution many times however what I've should gave is the disclaimer to backup ur registry before u make mods so u can revert back in case. Also the ony other thing I can think of is that this solution was for Windows XP using registry editior 5, I'm noticing that the title of this thread is Windows 7.

If you just want to save a pdf opened in Safari to your machine use the save as option from within the Reader plugin window. Just click on any of the buttons highlighted in below screenshots to Save a pdf at any location on your machine.

To summarize the issue, if you had opened an Internet PDF in a browser plug-in, you must use the save feature in the plug-in, not the Safari File > PDF Export, or File > Save As...
Please let us know if this solution works for you and you are able to save and view PDFs files locally.

Acrobat X Pro: Configuration error when viewing pdfs

Hi all,
A colleague is having problems viewing pdfs in Acrobat X Pro. After a fresh install, things are fine for a while, then after some random time, when he opens a pdf, he can view the pdf for a few seconds, then the following error pops up and and Acrobat stops working.
Configuration error
Please uninstall and reinstall the product.
If this problem still occurs, please contact Adobe technical support for help and mention the error code shown at the bottom of this screen.

Also, the error occurs when just opening Acrobat, without opening a pdf at the same time.

I have exactly the same problem with Acrobat X Standard. I uninstalled and reinstalled the software - no success. I chatted with a Adobe supporter @ USA for 30 minutes - when he realized that I'm running a German Windows 7, he declared himself as not competent - quite weak. The German support answered with "Adobe doesn't support OEM products" (Acrobat came preinstalled by DELL). The DELL support declared it a Adobe problem - which seems correct to me. Classic catch 22.

Yes, Mountain Lion has a convoluted method to do a "Save as", but try this. Open the applicable PDF, from the "File" menu select "Duplicate". This will create a copy of the PDF file and highlight the name at the top of the page. Here you can type in a new name, and a gain from the "File" menu select "Move To" or "Save" to save the resultant, newly named PDF.

Text options on Treo Pro.

Hi everybody. So I have the Treo pro, and I was just wondering, in the text conversations, is there any way to change the conversation display from showing "ME" to my actual name? I like it to say 'Tiffany' instead. I know I was able to change it on my Centro, but I haven't been able to do it on this phone (if it's even possible). So does anyone know if there is that option on the Pro?

Learn to love "view options" and "preferences" and "options".
In every app on a mac and in the finder, there is somewhere that you can set your preferred font and font size.
Which sizes and which fonts are something that you should experiment with to see what suits you and your eyes.
I use small font sizes but that is what suits me; you need to choose your own. Play with the apps and look at what is available to you.
(the standard font sizes in windows apps were so large that they were crazy when I had to infrequently use a windows machine.)

How to view PDF files in Safari

Hi,
I can't view PDFs in Safari since updating to 5.1. I just get the annoying dark-grey screen
I don't have Adobe Reader/Pro installed, I don't have the internet plugin, I have tried running the phrase in Terminal that is supposed to tell Safari to open PDFs not get another program to (cut and paste into terminal as is from various other threads) and I have tried downloading the file form this address: http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/22361/safari-display-or-download-pdf-files (incidentally, I can't download it because Safari tries to open the .dmg file in a new tab, but that doesn't work, nor does OPT-click -> Download linked file allow me to download it).
I've been to the Genius Bar at that local Apple store and the tech couldn't help - even though she looked at the problem for about 30 mins.
Does anyone know of any other possible fixes for this incredicbly annoying problem?

Treo Pro Error Message 530 5.7.1 Relaying not allowed cannot send Email from pop acct

I just purchased the treo pro thru Sprint. I love the phone I just cant seem to figure out the proper settings for my outgoing POP Email acct. Every time I set up the settings properly and attempt to send an email I get an error message "530 5.7.1 Relaying not allowed". I get this message with the outgoing server set to smtp.sprintpcs.com and i receive this error message through an "undeliverable" Email in the same account I am attempting to send from. When I have the account set to my ISP's outgoing server mail.optonline.net it will only send email if I have my device set to WIFI mode..... Any ideas? Thanks.

I just bought an unlocked Treo Pro. I have followed the instructions by pressing the lower right corner to release the cover. It's really hard to get the cover off. Am I missing something?

Treo Pro on-off question

Hello, concerning the Palm Treo Pro, is there a way to totally turn off the phone(without removing the battery)? (Need to save the data thats in the phone) I know you can turn off the "phone" portion, but some apps I think are still running down the battery. Tell me if its wrong, but when you put the device in airplane mode, it is still drawing down the battery? Thanks for any guidance. And, I have read the pdf manual. thanks

Palm devices never turn off to a "zero state" as far as battery use. We rely on them for alarm functions, timing devices, etc.
If the device truly was allowed to go "dead", that would negate the functions listed above, and data loss could occur.
Since you have a WinMob device, be sure to stop any running programs not needed, (not just by clicking the X!)

"Cannot open Help. The file cannot be found." Error on Treo Pro

I can see a support item listed on my phone when I try to search the Help files, but when I click on that item, it gives me an error message, "Cannot oepn Help. The file cannot be found."
I am trying to block telemarketer calls, and it looks like there is a way to do it. Two help references come up - "Setting Options for rejecting calls" and "Blocking Calls." I just can't access them.

Hi.. Welcome to the Palm forums.. The Treo Pro according to the spec list found at this link, http://www.palm.com/us/support/handbooks/Pro_UL_Datasheet.pdf . (you may have to copy and paste it into your browser), shows Expansion MicroSDHC cards (up to 32GB supported). Now I have not used a sdhc card in a pro nor do I know of anyone that has but according to palms specs on the treo pro show this as what is compatible.
