  • Windows file manager I-funbox isit safe and legal?

I heard about this windows program called i funbox they quote "Manage files on your iPhone or iPad in a way just like Windows File Explorer but more robust and friendly" isit legal to download and isit safe i dont want to do anything illegal here

Hi, I had the same problem and the only solution that worked was to change all references to the old name in the PC's Registry. Caution, read the last sentence before attempting this.
Type regedit in the search field and when you find it, open the program. Click Edit then click on "Find" and type in the old iphone name you want to get rid of, eg. 'Joe's iphone'. When it is found (exactly as it appears in Windows) replace it (and ONLY it) with the name you want eg. 'Fred's iphone'. Keep searching the registry and change every reference to the old name. When no more can be found, close regedit and reconnect your phone. It will now show the same name as the itunes name. Note: type the registry name and itunes name exactly the same.
DO NOT change anything else, if you make a mistake when working in the Registry it can have serious consequences with your PC's operation. Do this at your own risk. If unsure create a System Restore point first.

  • Problem with File Management in InDesign CS4 on Win 7 64-bit Machine

I have Adobe CS4 and just today have encountered a new problem for which I have no solution. When I open InDesign CS4 and choose the Open File menu, and then attempt to change the way the menu diplays items (e.g., Details rather than Small Icons, ec.), the program crashes and I get the "Adobe InDesign CS4 has stopped working" error message. I first encountered this after attempting to open a folder containing InDesign CS file that I need to open and update. In *that* case, the program crashes as soon as I open that folder (from within InDesign). What I have done so far to solve the problem: I tried using Bridge to browse to the problem folder and open the files from there. Bridge does not crash when I open the folder, and I am able to open any file in the folder *from Bridge* into InDesign CS4. However, when I attempt to, for example, export text from the file, while it does not crash when the window (where I get to specify the name of the exported file and change its location [if I wish]) opens, when I attempt to change how the file menu is displayed (cf. my comment above), the program crashes. *However*, if I simply export the file to any folder other than the one the opening of which crashes the program, too, everything is fine. So the problem seems to afflict the one folder, and any attempt, in any folder, to change how the folder's contents are displayed in what amounts to InDesign's use of the Windows file manager function. Any thoughts would be greatly apprecatd.

    Dear Peter,
This is me (PottsJazz) under my (foolishly misplaced) original username (potterjazz) here on Adobe Fora. For various reasons, I decided to do a ground-up reinstallation of Windows 7 64-bit and Adobe CS4 and, initially, the ability to specify the way folders are displayed from within InDesign's own File Manager worked as it should. However, at some point as I went along installing all the software packages I use (Office 2010, Firefox, WordPerfect, some file converters, DVD/CD burning software, iTunes, etc.) the problem reemerged. I think it is probably a glitch with Windows 7 64-bit and one of my programs, but it is definitely not CS4's fault. I just have to create folders, specify folder display styles, etc., from outside CS4 and then maneuver within its programs to the folders and file locations from inside. It's a small price to pay for not spending days reinstalling software and testing testing testing. I'll let you know if I ever get a solution.

  • Tfman - text file manager, much different then others

    Tfman - text file manager.
Performs operations on files through textual representation of file system.
Textual representation is in the form of plain text, editable with any text
editor and may contain multiple operations of every kind. Tfman can be
used from command-line or from within Vim as multi-window file manager.
It can be combined with tools like Sed or Awk.
. written in C fo Unix-like operating systems
. no dependencies (except gcc/clang and GNU Make for building)
    Features in short:
       - scan filesystem to create its textual representation
       - parse textual representation and perform retrieved operations
       - use favorite text editing tool to edit textual representation
       - scan, edit and parse in one step
       - use Tfman from command-line or from within Vim as multi-window file manager
       - integration with other decent text editors should be easy
       - available: brace expansion, globbing, entries grouping, whole directory operations and more
    Project's homepage:

Installation procedure (AUR or sources tarball) - see Project's homepage
Documentation, sources, report issue - see Project's homepage
    Warning:
Tfman is in an early state, it didn't receive sufficient testing yet. Please
be carefull when manipulating sensitive data with it.
    Note:
I do not know any file manager that manipulates file system in similar way.
Therefore usefulness of this kind of approach is not proven.
       Help me prove it.

    New version pushed to AUR:
    - changing entry ownership and permissions now associated under one action tag
    - few other action tags changed

not as simple as I want it to be. Any ideas how to make it simpler are highly appreciated.
Well, for start: Is there really a reason to use different character for directory and its subdirectories? As far as I can tell, you could just use '%' for all directories and decide what is top-level directory and what is subdirectory based on the indentation. Also, it would be nice to reserve '#' for comments, as it is common in many languages.
machel wrote:2) Use action tags to specify operations. They apply to single entries, groups of entries or whole directories
Here the complexity begins. There is 13 operations, if I counted it correctly in the man page. To be fair, some of them are just adding '*' enforce overwrites. Fine, that leaves us with about 9 operations to learn. I could probably do that But it would be better if it was less... Would it be possible to simplify operations that don't affect file location by allowing user to simply change the value in the text representation? It would probably require some kind of header (or some clever trickery), because the order of columns is not fixed, but it might be worth the trouble. You could also extend this to changing file times and perhaps other properties (those from '-F proper'). The linking and moving operators look good, with little exception of '))' - that just looks odd to me But that is definitely my personal taste... I'd prefer something like single '>'.
machel wrote:3) Entry names and action operands - I believe using them is quite intuitive:
    Name relative to directory/subdirectory above:
      'name'
    If you want absolute name:
      '/name'
If you want name relative to current working directory (where Tfman was invoked):
      './name'
No problem with this, I like that.

dolik.rce wrote:ability to execute commands on the files/directories
What do you mean? Shell commands?
Shell commands would be best, but generally just ability to execute command with given file/directory as input or parameter. Example usage would be something like this:
    # Dir
    file1 ^ sed -i -e 'some sed script here' becomes: sed -i -e 'some sed script here' < file1
    file2 ^% touch % becomes: touch file2
The syntax is just an example, but in this case ^ would feed the file into the standard input of the command, and '^%' would replace '%' in commandline with the actual file name. For globing, command gets executed for each matching file.

    dolik.rce wrote:execute some actions conditionally
Interesting idea. I must think about it.
Tfman already have tags to stop parsing file, stop parsing line and goto next,
disable whole dir/group or single entry, exclude entry from under directory/group,
perform action on previous action's target, ignore errors.
    But it works unconditionally.
I can imagine wanting to do something based on the properties of file or even based on output of external command. E.g. 'move file only if it's older then N days', or 'ask remote server if it has file X, move the file to directory upload/ when the command returns non-zero exit status'
    machel wrote:--- Tfm ---
Remember about 'tfm' utility which is simple Tfman wrapper  scanning given directory,
opening it in editor defined in EDITOR shell variable (Vim is default) and parsing
result after you save and quit.
It just compress 3 steps into 1.
This is definitely handy, and probably only reasonable way to use tfman interactively. However, I'm not a vim-person - as I already said I'm lazy to remember anything, so you can imagine that learning enough vim commands to use it effectively would be a nightmare for me The same goes for tfmvi, I'm just not the target audience for that. But my EDITOR variable is usually set to nano, so I could easily use it with that, probably just with slightly more typing.

  • How do I get the file names on a customized proof sheet?

How do I get the file names on a customized proof sheet?

Actually, I really don't know what you say.
But when you see the properties of a file in Windows, you can see there are two file size. One is called "SIze" and the other one is called "Size on disk".
Therefore, I would like to know the size on disk but not just the size.

  • File manager window remains focused in DW CS6

If I open the file manager window to display my hard drive and the server files, then click on a file in the hard drive display to edit it, it opens behind the file manager window and I cannot view it properly without moving the file manager window, or closing the file manager window. It used to be that when you click on a file like this it would take precedence. I am on a Mac if that makes a difference. Do not have this problem with previous versions of DW.

    Hi:
    I got this from Adobe:
The issue that you have mentioned will happen only if you have turned on "Application Frame". You can toggle the 'Application Frame' setting from menu item 'Window > Application Frame' in Dreamweaver.
If you  turn off the 'Application Frame', the file will get the focus after opening it from Files Panel.
But full frame, fill my 7" screen is a nuisance. I don't want to have it that big every time I open a file. It is ridiculous. I need to have DW operating in one part of the screen while I bring up mail and web pages in the other, and then cut and paste from an email into a DW file page.

  • Can you create a smaller photo file to send to my clients like in a proof-sheets style?

Hello photographers, i have a question about sharing a file ;Some of my clients's photos files of about 300 photos take about 3 GB space. How do you share them with clients? Dropbox needs 2 days to downloadand and not user friendly;  YouSendIt allows only 2 GB per file, and zipping the file takes the download  about 7 hours. How do make a smaller file, reducing size but still being big enough to view details of the photos? is there a way to make a proof-sheet? or is there a photo librairy that can be shared temporarely with the client?  anyone with feedback please? Thank you.

The camera roll is not part of the sync process at all.
You should be importing these photos to your computer regularly as you would with any digital camera.  Youc an organize them on your computer and sync the to the iphone if you wish.
The photos sync from the computer to the iphone is one way.
The iphone mirrors the selected content of the computer to which it is synced.

  • My small split-view file manager

    Hello.
I've created a small file manager with split-view. While some functionality is still missing, the manager is usable and I'm using it as my primery tool for file browsing.
You can get the browser from here http://github.com/napsy/gsfm
    space - select/unselect
    F5 - copy selection
    F4 - rename selection
    F3 - new directory
    delete - delete selection
    tab - change view
There is support for custom view with a config file. You put the config file inside your ~/.config directory. A sample config is provided with the source.
    Sere is a screenshot: http://napotnik.info/images/gsfm.png

It's good that it's C and BSD-licensed, but I don't really see a point in GTK. I mean, there are a lot of GTK file browsers out there already, but there is no (to my mind) proper ncurses file browser written in pure C. It's just MC and vifm, all the others aren't C. So if it would be ncurses I would definetly be interested. That's just my opinion. Anyways, thanks!

  • File Manager with tree view

I've been using Cinnamon with the Nemo file manager for a while now but I'm wanting to remove Cinnamon and have only Openbox and Awesome installed. The only thing that's stopping me now is I'm unsure of what to use for a file manager. The feature of Nemo that I really like is the ability to show folders in tree view in the main pane when in detailed list view. I know that most of them probably have the tree feature in a side pane but I want it in the main pane.
I'd like something with as few dependencies as possible since I'm wanting a more minimal approach to my system. Nemo requires Cinnamon, I'm guessing that Nautilus has the feature that I'm looking for as well but that requires Gnome.
Can anyone recommend another file manager with this feature? Or is there any way to install Nemo/Nautilus without their desktop dependencies?

drcouzelis wrote:It doesn't look like Nemo requires Cinnamon. What do you mean?
claire ~ % pacman -Qi nemo
    Name : nemo
    [snip]
Depends On : libexif gvfs dconf desktop-file-utils exempi python2
    cinnamon-desktop gnome-icon-theme libnotify libxml2
    cinnamon-translations
I think this is what is meant.

Not really, since those libraries are required to run the respective file manager.

  • File Manager unable to open, Windows error message...

When I try to open File Manager from Nokia PC Suite or Nokia Phone Browser in My Computer, a Windows error message suddenly appears and says "Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close." I don't know what seems to be the problem. I've been using it for months and this is the only time I encountered a problem like this. How can I solve this problem?
I have the latest version of Nokia PC Suite (Version 6.85.12.0), my OS is Windows XP 2000, and I'm using a USB cable as a connector.
Please, I really do need to fix this one.

  • How to view hidden window file in a memory card?

I am connecting a memory card to a mac
But i cant view the hidden files in it
    It is a window file
    Can anyone help ?=)

Symbian^3 currently has no way of looking at stored messages in the memory card. If you would like to access them, load the memory card back to your old phone and sync them to your PC via Ovi suite where these messages can be read on the program. You can move these to the C6-01 via Ovi Suite should you desire to do so.

  • Why there is no file manager in Windows phone

Why there is no file manager in Windows phone??? There should be a file manager provided through the update.

so it's mean IOS or Android or Symbian were much better than windowsphone because they have file manager.
to be honest without file manager we can't choose drive to install apps, and that was a disadvantage for lumia phone who have small internal memory. So you had to rich enough go for flagship phone to get satisfaction warranty.
for instance my lumia 720 who have 8 Gb internal which right now at Nokia care centre, i have to cautious when installing apps or game with great memory requrement, where's my water for example need 700 MB.
my we chat apps i don't know why cost me 296Mb memory, even i've already deleted chat history, temporary files etc.

  • File manager with tree view in main pane?

I'm looking for a file manager with something similar to Nautilus' list view, with a list and tree structure as a main view.
The nautilus one is awesome, but nautilus has qwerks if you don't use gnome (wants to control desktop, panels are very restricted, etc.)
Does anyone know of a file manager with a view similar to this that I can try out?

I've seen a few things on spacefm, and played with it a bit. Took me 3 minutes and 2 segmentation faults to find the setting to change views, and it still doesn't have the ability I want, so still a bit too buggy for me.
Pcmanfm is a good all around filemanager, but doesn't have that feature either.
I played with a slew of file managers one day looking for similar things, maybe I should try that again and branch out further than what's in the repos.
    More suggestions?
