View protected PDF on iPhone?

I bought an ebook (which is protected with a password) and i want to read it on the phone. However, i just see blank white pages when i view it on the phone. I'm guessing that it's not currently possible to view protected PDFs on the iPhone?...or do i need to do something to make it viewable? When i view it on the Mac, a window pops up asking for the password, but this doesn't happen on the iPhone.

I am having the same problem. I have tried emailing it to my iPhone as well as using airtunes. Looks like Ill have to carry my Macbook or the hard copy of the book.

If the PDF is an email attachment, you can view it by tapping on the attachment icon while you are viewing the email message. Another option is to set up a dropbox account and then use a computer to drop the PDF into your account. Install the iOS dropbox app and you can view PDFs there that way.

  • Viewing Protected PDF's

My online school locks their PDF files using Protectedpdf by Vitrium Systems. These documents require Adobe Reader to login and unlock the document upon opening the file; however I'm unable to enter my user name and password into the document (doesn't support forms?). After entering my credentials they are validated via the internet with my school and the document is unlocked. Is this a feature that could be incorporated into a future release?

The files in question are PDFs issued by the University of Phoenix. Below is the response I got. When asked if they will support DRM files with a future release I was informed it would be documented as a suggestion. Fingers crossed I'll some day be able to view these types of PDF documents on my iPod and iPad.
The pdf that you are opening is a DRM protected pdf.
Adobe Reader on iOS opens password secured and LiveCycle Rights Managed files but does not support opening of DRM protected content.

  • Adobe LiveCycle Rights Management credentials needed to view protected pdf.

I recently downloaded a transcript and am not able to view it (in Adobe Reader) because I need to enter Adobe LiveCycle Rights Management credentials.  How do I get these/access this information?

From the creator of the pdf.

  • How can I change the page size of a pdf so i can view it on my iphone more clearly?

How can I change the page size of a pdf so i can view it on my iphone more clearly?

I think there may be more to this question than you say.
If your PDF page is say, 8 x 12 inches, and you found a way to scale it to 25%, changing it to 2 x 3 inch, shrinking everything on the page to quarter size - wouldn't it look exactly the same on the iPhone? It's just going to be the same as zooming.
Or were you hoping for something more like in Word, where changing the page size keeps everything the same size and spreads it over more pages? That isn't something you can do.

  • Chrome Viewer can't open Protected PDF  - Ask for a solution or a workaround

    Hello,
we are working on the publishing of some Adobe Livecycle PDF protected documents on a website we are working on.
We noticed an anomaly in Chrome Browser (Saphari too). The browser can't recognize PDF protected Document, so clicking to the download of the pdf document, it use "Chrome Pdf Viewer"
and shows a message to user 'Unable to open document'.
Is there any system to force the browser to open the protected pdf with Adobe reader?
The solution about asking the User to disable Chrome Pdf Viewer and enable Adobe Reader is Excluded.
    Thanks a lot,

  • Viewing password protected pdf

I have. Windows Surface RT and I take classes online. My text books are pdf files that are password protected. When i go to sign in to view my textbooks the adobe reader will not let me. Any ideas on what to do?

I have a password protected PDF from a colleague which will not open in Mac OSX.
When I try to open the file I get the error message
`The file "file.pdf" could not be opened.
It may be damaged or use a file format that Preview doesn't recognize.'
When I open the file on other operating systems (on other computers) I am prompted for the password and am then able to view the file.
This may one case where the Adobe Reader application could do a better job. You can find it here:

You'll have to pick your OS version and architecture (Intel or PPC).

  • Password-protected PDFs making mail blank view of messages?

Surreal problem that seems to have started about the same time as my 10.8.4 update (from 10.8.3):
Viewing the standard Mail view, with mailboxes on the left, message list for the selected mailbox in the middle, and message text in the largest pane on the right of the window; when moving through the list of messages, moving down and seeing the message texts to the right, all of a sudden, the preview pane to the right go BLANK.  And I've narrowed it down to several suspect messages that came from a regular group of business contacts who send me reports as password-protected PDFs.  I prepared a test PDF with Preview, encrypted, and used that to test the proposition that password-protected PDFs are what is 'breaking' the view of message contents in the right hand window, and it is clearly the problem.
After I view a message with the gray password-protected preview image showing in the preview pane, switching to another message in the message list, that next message shows a normal header but the text/body of the message shows blank.  And then the next messages keep showing blank until I either:  hide and unhide the main mail window OR quit and reopen mail.  But double-clicking on any message in the list to open it properly in its own window shows it normally.
Rebuilding my mailboxes did not help.  Rebooting did not help.
Any ideas about what the heck might be going on?

I've had the same problem on 3 computers since updating them to 10.8.4
I don't think many will find this thread as most will search for threads relating to 10.8.4
It only happens to my mail after viewing a message that contains a password protected pdf.  If I don't open emails that contain the pdfs mail works perfectly, but once I've clicked on a message that contains a pdf every email turns blank.  Mac mail & POP accounts.  I can double-click the email to have it viewable in a new window but still can't open the pdfs. I get password protected pdfs regularly for work.
    They're standard drives, no partitioning.
I've tried the "sandbox" suggestion with no joy.  & I've also tried removing junk filtering which is a suggestion on another thread.
    I don't think I'm up to re-installing 10.8.3 so I've been using a browser for emails.

  • Is there any way to send some one a password protected pdf that only they can access/view with a password?

Is there any way to send some one a password protected pdf that only they can access/view with a password?
    Thanks!

    Hi wonderingtoday,
Yes, you can! If you have Acrobat, you can assign an "Open Password" to the PDF, so that only people who have that password can open the PDF. If you don't have Acrobat, you can try it for free for 30 days. For more information, see www.adobe.com/products/acrobat.html.

  • Poor contrast viewing PDFs on iPhone

I just bought some colour guide books in PDF to take travelling on my iPhone.
Unfortunately the files use a cyan-coloured font which is a bit hard to read on a laptop, but is almost impossible to read on the iPhone (using iBooks as the PDF viewer), especially when on a light cyan or grey background.
Any suggestions how I could improve the contrast in viewing the PDFs on my iPhone 4?

  • Password protected .pdf's always corrupted?

My employer emails my payslips as .pdf attachments protected by a PIN. On (my old phone, a Samsung Europa/GT-I5500 running 2.2 and ) my iPhone running iOS5 these files won't open. When downloaded an error message displays saying the file is corrupt or damaged. The same file viewed on a PC or through iPhone mail will open with the PIN and is readable. Is there anyway to get the adobe reader app to open these files? For obvious reasons I'd rather not share the files.

I don't believe that password-protected PDFs are yet supported in Reader mobile.
