View search results as XML

Hello Folks,
How can I view my search results as XML in SharePoint 2013? I know it involves Display templates, but is there any other way?
We have a custom application which needs to consume this XML and transform it as per the application need.

As I understand, you want to display search results as XML in SharePoint 2013.
You can use search REST API in SharePoint 2013 to get search result as XML.

In Itunes 12 is there a way to view search results in the playlist view rather than the drop down menu?

When searching for a song title, an artist etc in Itunes 12 it shows the results via a tiny consolidated drop down menu, however in previous version of Itunes search results would be displayed in the main playlist view. I seriously dislike the search drop down view because A) it only shows limited results B) It shows artwork C) It is confusing when trying to search your playlist when you are trying to organize your library.
If anyone knows a way to change the search view preference please let me know how or advise me on how to suggest to Apple that they change it back or give people the option to choose which search result view they would like to use.

If you disable the Search Entire Library option (available in the dropdown to the left of the search box) iTunes 12 will not show the search results in a dropdown but will immediately go to a filtered version of your current view. With the Search Entire Library option enabled, you can still get to this filtered view by clicking on the first entry in the drop down, which will say "Show <search string> in Library" or "Show <search string> in <playlist>" depending on where you start the search from.
There are some inconsistencies in the search behavior, most notably that where you have the Search Entire Library option enabled and search within a playlist the dropdown will show all matches in you complete library (whether in your playlist or not), whereas the first entry in the dropdown just takes you to the filtered playlist view.

Desktop app, getting a search result as XML/JSON from any website. How?

Heya!
I have a java program that im fiddling with whenever im bored. It's purpose is basically for me to learn new things and possibly make a nifty piece of software for me and my friends.
Say, I have a list of entries (movies). Each entry has an iMDB link. What i would like to do is to be able to click a button and get a new window (perhaps, i haven't designed this bit yet) with information imported directly from iMDB.
An approach I came up with is this: When you type something in iMDB's search field, you get a page with results. Is there any way to grab that result internally in my desktop app as XML or JSON perhaps, and parse that info and populate some text fields/areas with that parsed info?
Reason why I ask this is because i have no clue about that "section" of Java (I've got quite basic desktop skills, but nearly none with networking/web and media). Are there any default libs in Java that have functionality that might be useful to me? I'd appreciate a poke in the right direction :)
edit: hmmmm i've found some pointers in http://forums.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=5407197&start=0&tstart=0 and it seems like I have to use the text files provided by iMDB since i am to use this for non-commercial purposes. Delete this thread as I should've done much better research before I made this one. My appologies.

Viewing Search results in CoolIris

I try to browse the result of my query in CoolIris, but I get only the wall of my whole DAM collection...
I was hoping that CoolIris use only the RSS feed content of the query as any browser do using the "RSS" button ...
Is there any way to force "Cooliris" to use this feed?

I am confused as to where you are starting from.
Spotlight is the Search App that can be accessed top right in the Menu Bar with the spyglass type icon.
It does not matter which app is "front" it will Search all the allowed places (mostly the Mac User account info and on other Mounted Drives).
There is a Search option in the Main Window of the Messages App
This will change the list to show those Chats with the word in them.
It will highlight one when you View that Chat.
Using the Edit Menu > Find > Next (or Use the Keystrokes CMD+ F) will cycle the found word through as many chats as have been found.
Same List of Chats without the Search Criteria listed
(No Highlighted Text).

View search result docs as HTML

We have several thousand HTML documents in our content areas that are formatted a specific way and contain internal links between them. Here's the problem:
When you use the search, there is an option to "View as HTML" or "View as HTML with Search Terms Highlighted". When you click one of these icons, it seems to create a new HTML document instead of displaying the original HTML. This loses our custom formatting and breaks all of the internal links. Has anyone else run into this problem? Any suggestions of how to fix the problem? We're running 3.0.9.8.4 with InterMedia.

I looked up the bug on Metalink but there is no indication there of when this bug will be fixed. Do you know if they plan to fix it in 3.0.9 or only in version 2?

ITunes Store - search results

Is there a way to view search results in column view?

Dave,
You must request inclusion into the iTunes Store under your "Edit Site Settings" link for search results from you site to appear when searching globally in the iTunes Store.
Right now search results will work if you are in your site.
It can take a while to get approval for the store, so if you have already requested inclusion please have patience.

Search result not appearing in search view

Hi,
I have successfully indexed a xml file in one collection.When i tried to search for the result set for that particular collection in search view,am getting "no results found" warning.I have tried it in QR server also but i am not
getting that xml file in results set.
Can anyone help,how to get the result set in search view?

Hello Kaappz,
The common cause for this problem is that the document is not indexed or we are searching for content that is not in the content composite field.
Can you verify that the document is indexed by searching from the qrserver (port 15100) for and(meta.collection:<collectionname>, <term in doc>) and confirming that the document shows up in your results?
If so, if the document does show up in search results for the collection, I would recommend searching at the qrserver with the parameters: view=<name>sppreview, and view=<name>sppublished parameters, and determine if you see the document.

"Search Result Types" Error on page view

When visiting "Search Result Types"
under Site Collection Administration on a few of my site collections I get an error. This only happens on some of the site collections and I can't pin down why its occurring. I've tried disabling "SharePoint Server Publishing Infrastructure" and
deleting the Relationship list then turning the infrastructure feature back on with not luck.

When visiting "Search Result Types" under Site Collection Administration on a few of my site collections I get an error. This only happens on some of the site collections and I can't pin down why its occurring. I've tried disabling "SharePoint
Server Publishing Infrastructure" and deleting the Relationship list then turning the infrastructure feature back on with not luck.

Add hyperlink on the field txt in Search Result List to access Detail View

Hi, SDN fellows.
I have a PCUI requirement stated the following:
1) In the line item of the Search Result List (table), there is one hyperlink in field 1.
2) When click on the hyperlink, it will trigger the action to open up Detail View (Object Data Pattern 1 - ODP1) of the line item.
3) Problem: When the value of the field is null, there will be no hyperlink to open up the Detail View.
4) For work around, my requirement is to make the other fields (i.e. field 2) to have a hyperlink to trigger the action for opening the Detail View of the line item.
I am not strong in PCUI. Please advise how to do so, while I am exploring the guide in the PCUI Book.

Hello Kent,
check out the settings of the Field Group element where the link is already active. Copy that settings to the Field which you want to be linked too.

How to get value in custom field(Part OF BOL) in search result view.

Hi All,
I am new to CRM WEBUI and i am facing issue in populating value in one field of search result view.
Current requirement is .
On product f4 , we get search help and search result view.
one custom field need to be added in search result view ( for eg any description field).
This description field is already available in one of z relation maintained in PRODUCT root object.
Solution tried so Far:
1. We enhance one Standard Product structure and add that description field .
2. Add new field( description) in result view context node as attribute by using bol attribute.
3. Customize search result view and display that description field in result.
By doing above three steps, field is available in search result view.
but issue is we are not able to get values.
1st Approach: write code in getter and setter method . Pass the relation name and get the property of description field
in setter method, set the property.
Issue : we were not able to sort the values on this description field. so scrap this 1st approach
2nd Approach: In Event EH_Onsearch Help, we try to use collection wrapper to get current value of description
by using relation name .
We use component controller to set the value of description since searchresult view-conext node->result node is bound to one comp controller node.
but this solution also does not work..
Please advice us what approach we should use to get value in description field and sorting should also work.

if u need sorting on that field.
then u should go for value node approach and write code for getting value in get set method
and for sorting also , need to write code.
This is my understanding on this .

When I turn off private browsing and refresh the page, everything works again.
Anyone else having this problem?

I have got the same behaviour after the last Safari Update to 5.1.3. It seems that Safari now handles some scripts in a new way. If you debug the Google Website, you will see, that there is some Javascript Error, that seems to prevent to write into local cache. After some searching I wasn't able to finde a solution for this problem, other then disabling Javascript while private browsing to prevent the script loading. You then are able to use Google with the old layout. The option to disable JavaScript can be found in the Menu "Developer", wich has to be enabled in Safari in the options first.
In my opinion this is a bug that is now occuring, because Apple changed something in private browsing and that has to be fixed by Google now, to run again. Or we will have to wait for 5.1.4, as you can read online Apple will change and bugfix the javascript engine in that version, perhaps this fixes the problem as well. I hope so!
If anyone is in the developer program perhaps you could test this with the beta of 5.1.4 and tell us if it works.

How can I show shipping costs in my search results? Where is "Customize view" link?

Ebay has this help page: http://pages.ebay.ca/help/search/questions/shipping-column.html It says "Click the 'Customize view' link located at the top of your search results." I can't find the "Customize view" link, and there call center person wasn't much help. Does the ability top see the shipping cost in the search results still exist?

Just double click on results in your Results Panel.

Is Quick View (preview of file contents under search results) supported in SharePoint 2013 Foundation?

We recently deployed SharePoint 2013 Foundation but can't make Quick View (seeing the contents of a file when you hover the mouse cursor over it) work in the search results.
All Site Collection/Site Features are turned on. Not sure what else to do.
Does anyone have this feature working in SharePoint 2013 Foundation?

Rh9:Unable to view PDF files from search results in Firefox

Is this a Firefox plug-in issue, rather than a Robohelp issue?
Background info:
Using Rh9
Firefox 23.0 (latest version)
Works successfully in Chrome (latest version) and Microsoft IE 8 and IE 9
Using Firefox, I am able to view the test PDF file from within a topic, via a hyperlink. Unable to view the test PDF when it appears within the search results.
Failure behavior
Information message appears at the top of the screen, indicating that "This PDF document might not be displayed correctly."
A button appears: "Open with Different Viewer"
In the main frame, the page is blank except for the Adobe Viewer controls: i.e., zoom, page navigation, download, print, ....
Any ideas?

I think it is an Acrobat issue. I have seen it and with PDFs not linked to Fm or Rh. Sometimes you can see the issue and sometimes you don't. I also have Nitro PDF and that displays the PDF without problems.
If it is a PDF you create, I guess you could try some different settings or use something else to create it to see if the problem goes away.
