View tags on thumbnails in Elements 12.

I can't view tags on individual pictures in Elements 12 Organizer like I could in earlier versions.

I don't think there has been any change ? Do you have the menu show / details (Ctrl + D) activated ? and is your thumbnail size big enough ?

  • I can't view NEF thumbnails in elements 11

Long time Photoshop user, now CS6, trying Elements. All Adobe programs are up to date. How do I view the NEF files in Elements 11 or the Organizer? The thumbnails are there but blank. They do process into Elements fine, but I can't see any picture in the thumbnails. I have searched the web for an answer. Thanks for any help.

On Windows try pressing Ctrl+A (to select all) and then refresh again (Edit >> Update Thumbnails for selected items). If that makes no difference you may need to regenerate the cache.
Help >> System info to find the path to your catalog.
    1. Close Organizer.
    2. Navigate to C: ProgramData/Adobe/Elements Organizer/Catalogs/My Catalog
    3. Find the file - thumb.5.cache
    4. Highlight the file and delete it.
    5. Re-start Elements Organizer
    6. Wait until all thumbnails have been generated.
N.B. ProgramData may be a hidden system file - see link below on how to reveal hidden files:
You could also edit your NEF’s from Bridge CS6. Right-click a thumbnail in Bridge and choose Open With >> Adobe Photoshop Elements.

  • Thumbnails in Elements 6 Look Slightly Fuzzy

I use Elements 6 and have noticed my Organizer thumbnails look slightly fuzzy when veiwed as a thumbnail and even when I double click on a thumbnail it still looks slightly fuzzy or not very sharp in Organizer. When I view my thumbnails in "Windows Photo Gallery" the pictures look very sharp. The pictures also look sharp when viewed in Elements Editor. Can anyone expalin how to get sharp thumbnails in Elements 6 or what I might be doing wrong? Thanks.....

I just did a comparison of Windows Live Photo Gallery (the updated version that you need to download) and PSE 7.  It seems that the relative sharpness of thumbnails varies as you change thumbnail sizes, and that sometimes WLPG was sharper and sometimes PSE 7 sharper.   If you have a blatant example of Photo Gallery looking much sharper, perhaps you could upload a screen shot of both at www.pixentral.com and post the URL here.
An educated guess: I think that WLPG precomputes and stores 4 different thumbnail sizes (32, 96, 256, and 1024 pixels wide), and I'm not sure, but PSE may do the same. But if they have different stored sizes, then it's possible that at some actual thumbnail sizes, one will look sharper than the other.

    Hello All,
I am getting the below posted warning on the FIRST TAG ON JSPX, RIGHT AFTER JSP:ROOT ELEMENT, FOR ALL JSPX PAGES OF THE APPLICATION!!!

The application seems to be running fine though.
    Please help!!!

Thanks Timo for the reply. checklogin.jspx is not the culprit here. It is a page included in every page for checking user privileges which are specific to our application. This page has been there since the beginning of the application (pre upgrade). We are upgrading from 10.1.3g to 11G.
We are in the process of upgrade and till now we did not see it. We were adding removing some taglibs and after that this warning started to appear. The application seems to be working ok.
I just hope it is nothing serious as we are very close to the deadlines.
    Thanks,

In case you did not find it, the following is a copy/paste of the Announcement on Premiere Elements 19/NVIDIA GeForce
that appears at the top of this forum.
Premiere Elements 10 NVIDIA Video Card Driver Roll Back
If you are a Premiere Elements 10 user whose Windows computer uses a NVIDIA GeForce video card and you are experiencing
Premiere Elements 10 display and/or unexplained program behavior, then your first line of troubleshooting needs to be rolling
back the video card driver version instead of assuring that it is up to date.
Since October 2013 to the present, there have been a growing number of reports about display and unexplained workflow
glitches specific to the Premiere Elements 10 user whose Windows computer has a NVIDIA GeForce video card. If this applies
to you, then the “user to user” remedy is to roll back the NVIDIA GeForce video card driver as far as is necessary to get rid of
the problems. The typical driver roll back has gone back as far as March – July 2013 in order to get a working Premiere
Elements 10. Neither NVIDIA nor Adobe has taken any corrective action in this regard to date, and none is expected moving forward.
Since October 2013, the following thread has tried to keep up with the Premiere Elements 10 NVIDIA reports

  • How Do I Delete Disconnected Thumbnails in Elements 11

How do I delete disconnected thumbnails in Elements 11?
In previous versions, I could easily do this using Reconnect All Missing Files, but Reconnect no longer has an option to delete thumbnails, that I can see.

MSExplorer wrote:.Why is Elements creating these thumbnails in the first place?
Just compare your catalog to the physical catalog book you get for an art museum : you have all sorts of information about the paintings, their authors, descriptions, indexes... and you are shown a small 'thumbnail' for each painting. That is to enable quick identification of the paintings.
In a catalog, each thumbnail is a very small reduction of the original. All those thumbnails are stored in the catalog folder itself, in a file named thumbs.5.cache.
    Now, about 'disconnected' files.
There is some ambiguity here : 'disconnected files' are media files for which the path stored in the database is wrong. The reason is generally because the media file has been moved, renamed or deleted. There is still the old path in the database, but it is no longer valid.
For 'offline' media, that means that the physical drive is disconnected, but the paths stored in the database (catalog) are still correct. You simply have to plug in your external media to give the organizer or editor access to the real media file.

Hi i only migrated to mac about less then 2months ago, and im wondering is it possible to view photos as thumbnails when going through folders, as apposed to looking at them through iphoto? Its just that this would make it a lot easier to go through a folder where i have photos, any help please?

If you are using the icon view, going to View > Show View Options and checking "Show Icon Preview" will change the icon to a preview thumbnail, and column view will also show a preview image in the Finder window.

  • Elements Organizer - How do I sync historical Elements tags between Revel and Elements 12?

I used Elements 11 Organizer to manage my photos including adding tags. I've uploaded to Revel photos before Revel had tagging capabilities photos from Elements 11. Now that Revel can handle tags how can I sync my tagged photos that are currently in Elements Organizer (I upgraded to Elements 12) with the photos that were already loaded into Revel.

    Hi David
Since the introduction of PSE12 the method of synchronization has changed e.g. now via mobile albums. In PSE11 photos were uploaded to the Library level; not albums.
I’m not entirely sure how this affects keywords, but you may need to upload photos again using the new method. But I suggest you check first over on the Revel forum where there are more experienced users.

  • JSF with prelude/coda and f:view tag

    Hi,
I'm using the JSP 2.0 feature of including header and footer using the prelude/coda tags in web.xml, so that on every JSP page i write header and footer gets included automatically without having to specify import/include statement on each of the JSP pages.
This seems to cause a problem when using the <f:view> tag in JSF though, and i don't know how to solve it. What if i want to write JSF tags in the prelude/coda pages as well as on the main page? Is there a way to solve this?
Let's say i use a <f:view> in the prelude/coda (header/footer) pages, now how do i go on using JSF on the main page where the header/footer gets automatically included? Seems like this would cause 3 top-level <f:view> tags, right?
One solution is of course to skip the prelude/coda feature, and on every JSP page include footer and header using jsp:include and then on each of the included pages using <f:subview id="foo"> but this is not the solution that i want.
    Any ideas?

Hi dvohra09 thanks for the reply.
I'm not quite sure we understand eachother. If i replace the <f:view/> tag with <h:panelGrid/> on the prelude/coda pages how can i possibly use commandLink and other jsf components there?
There is no problem with other includes using the jsp:include tag. There I have the control to put subview or what ever at the right place. The problem is with just prelude/coda pages.

  • Can f:loadBundle live outside a f:view tag?

    The subject says it all.

Yes I have tried it. With the IBM R1.0 impl. It worked.
I was not sure if this was by design or just good fortune.
I thought that I may have read somewhere that it was the one and only tag that could live outside a f:view tag.

  • Thumbnails in Elements 10 not linking to photos on correct Hard Drive

I use two separate internal HD's.  Primary HD has a C and D partition.  Secondary HD has a E and F portition.  The secondary HD is meant as a internal backup for programs (E) and for songs, photos, and critical files (F).  On the primary HD, under the D drive, I have all our family photos under D:\Photographs\ "then by year, ie. 2002, 2003.....2011".  Under the year folders I have subfolders by month and event.  Works well for us.   I mirror this setup on the secondary F drive.  (I also have backup on an external HD).  Everything was going smoothly when using Elements 7 (the thumbnails pointed to the D drive, then I upgraded to Elements 8 and somehow the program began pointing to the photos on the F drive, instead on the photos on the D drive.  Same problem continued to occurr when I upgraded to Elements 9 and 10.
Apparently in Elements Organizer when the thumbnail images are displayed and a thumbnail image is selected the program goes out on the HD and finds the linked photo to display on the screen.  Somehow the default for my Elements are the photos on the F drive, not on the D drive.  (Can see the drive/file location under "properties").  Just plain odd.
When I upload photos from my camera to a new folder or subfolder, all is well.  Then I open Elements Organizer and select "Files/Get Photos and Videos/From Files and Folders" and select and upload the photos from the folder on my D drive, NOT the F drive, into Elements (not really true and I think just a thumbnail of the actual phot is created).  When opening an upload thumbnail the program starts search for "a missing file".  If I have uploaded the photos to both the D and F drives the program links to the F drive image.
After having this annoyance for some years today I uninstalled Elements 7 and 9 (had kept them on the system as Elements 7 correctly went from the thumbnail to the corresponding photo image on the D drive.  Then I also uninstalled Elements 10.  Renamed the folder for photographs  on the F drive so when I reinstalled Elements 10 that path would not be as it was.  Then I did a fresh install of Elements 10.  Opened Elements Organizer and again selected "Files/Get Photos and Videos/From Files and Folders" and uploaded all of thr photos from my D drive.  Lo and behold, same problem!!!  Even with a fresh install Elements 10 somehow is looking for (pointing to) photos with the old path name.  (The program is unable find the  old path as I changed (renamed) the path for photos on the F drive.  When a thumbnail is selected in Organizer it starts its search for a "missing file" which means it is looking for the old path name on the F drive!
I have come to the comclusion that when I uninstalled Elements 10 a piece of it was left somewhere with this path coding that tells it to look for photos with the old path name on the F drive.  Since I uninstalled and reinstalled Elements it would not have known about the old path.  Has to be coding somewhere else that is telling it to go out to the old path name on the F drive.
Spent time in "regedit" to see if I could find this "F:\Photograghs\........" path that could be modified to "D:\Photograths\........" with no luck.  Also went into the C drive Windows\Adobe\Elements folders but do not see anything to modfify that will solve this issue.
Am I stuck having to go back and rename the F drive folder to the old name so Elements can find the photos, or is there a "Guru" that knows how I can get Elements Organizer to point to the D drive when opening a thumbnail??
    Thanks,
    Bill Heston

    Hello,
I have the same problem as ElkGroveBill, with one exception: my two physical disks have different numbers.
D: is the drive where I have my originals in a folder "my pictures" and F: is thedrive where I have my backup in a folder "my pictures" (same structure of sub-folders).
I have about 5000 photos that contain all of the tags that I would not lose.
I have modified the file name in F ("_mes photos") for PSE starts the automatic reconnection, but it first looks in C: and it's very long!!
Is it possible to make him look directly into D: \ my pictures?
    Thank you in advance.

  • Viewing RAW file thumbnails in Adobe Bridge

Hello folks have a problem which is driving me crazy and I'm hoping someone might be able to give me some pointers. Until recently I was able to view my NEF RAW files as thumbnails in Bridge, click on them and they open in camera raw fine. But all of a sudden though, as I open a folder in bridge I get a brief display of thumbnails which then all convert to just a white sheet icon. If i click on any of these identical icons then the file opens as normal in camera raw,but I cant see the thumbnail preview to know which shot is which. Has anyone had/solved this problem - any ideas as to what it might be causing it? All ideas gratefully received. I am using Elements 8 and Bridge CS4. I have looked through Adobes threads and they had some trouble shooting tips on the issue but these have not worked.
One of the issues they mentioned was checking if your bridge files were in the right place. I am not sure if the bridge file should be inside the Elements file or or not - i am wondering if this might be the problem as i accidentally moved my bridge file and then moved it back to the applications file - so i have included a screen grab of where my files are. and this is what the NEF - RAW thumb looks like instead of a thumbnail
Any help or pointers very GRATEFULLY received

Since no one else, like Barbara has replied more to this, at least publically, I will give some suggestions although I'm a Windows user and it would seem you're on a Mac.
The momentary flashes of image followed by a white sheet icon means that Bridge is initially showing you the camera-embedded JPG preview image, which typically has black bars, and then what is supposed to happen is Bridge uses its ACR to render each RAW using Adobe settings and recreate a new preview.  Apparently something is wrong with Bridge's usage of ACR so the Adobe-specific preview never gets created.
Your "new" D300 has been supported since CS3 ACR 4.3.1 so it isn't your CS4 ACR version being older than your camera that is the problem, unless the model of camera was mis-reported.
A clarification question: is it the case that NEFs from both your older camera and the newer D300 fail, now, in Bridge?  Another question would be what version of ACR is being used in Bridge and what is being used in Elements.  You can figure this out by doing Help / Plug-ins... / Camera RAW in Elements and maybe there is something similar in the Bridge preferences area.
As far as what could be wrong:  on a Mac, I believe there is one ACR plug-in for Bridge and another ACR plug-in for Elements, but I have no way to verify where to look on the Mac for them.  Your symptoms suggest that the PSE ACR is ok, and the Bridge ACR went missing or was damaged, recently, and you may be able to fix things by updating the Bridge CS4 ACR plug-in on the Mac to whatever it thinks it needs, or ACR 5.7 if you want the newest one compatible with both CS4 and PSE8, although PSE8 can be updated to ACR 6.1 which wouldn't be compatible with Bridge CS4.
First, try to use Bridge / Help / Updates to check for a new version of ACR and install one if it finds one to install.  If it sees nothing to update, then try to manually install it via the instructions on the Mac-ACR 5.7 updates page.  There is an install for CS4 and an install for PSE 8.  It isn't clear if you can merely use the update for PSE 8 or need to also do the update for CS4.  I would try both updates if you can find folders that match both the PSE and CS4 ones mentioned in the instructions.
To find the ACR 5.7 update for your Mac:
    Go to http://www.adobe.com/downloads/updates/
Change the drop-down up top to Camera RAW - Macintosh and Go
Click on the ACR 5.7 link.
On the page that comes up there is a download and instructions for various products including PSE 8.
You may need to clear your previews cache, again, after installing.

  • Can't view mts videos in Photoshop Elements 9

I've been trying to view mts formatted videos on PSE9 with no luck.  They imported fine and I can see thumbnails, but when I click on one to view, it opens a window to start playing the video, but the window just freezes.  I'm running the trial version of PSE9 and also installed the trial version of Premire Elements 9 (thinking it may help), but still no luck.
    Any ideas?

2 -- the version of Quicktime on both computers ?
Regarding Quicktime, I have found comments like the following in the Adobe techdoc database
"Applies to video and audio applications, including the Elements Organizer.    An outdated or damaged version of Apple QuickTime can prevent the  above applications from starting or operating correctly. To update  QuickTime, install the current version available on the Apple website..."
3 -- If neither of the above provide a solution, then I think an investigation of the specific video codecs installed on both computers will be the next step. That is more complex so I will start with just one specific question  --
For some problems with video files in the Organizer, I have seen Adobe recommendations to
    "Uninstall third-party video codec packs".
So my questions is -- do you have any third-party codec packs installed on either computer ?
4 -- Another factor I saw posted as the solution for one person is to update the driver for their video card.
I listed this last because it seems less probable because you said the files play OK in Premiere.
