Viewer Builder v1.5.1 Bugs

When I build an enterprise app with the Viewer Builder 1.5.1 (v15 viewer) I encounter these two problems:
Hide Navigation Toolbar
— in every view but Folio View
does not work, the bottom buttons appear even when I view a folio
When I add custom HTML in my own toolbar buttons, I disable "Show Navigation Controls", but they appear in every view, strangely there is an "sign out" button that appears with no function (see screenshot below)
Viewer Version 2.0.0.24.32168

but ... another problem:
Custom HTML for the toolbar are not allowed to contain subfolders.
Viewer Builder warns me if my zip file contains more than one HTML file but not if it contains subfolder.
I build an instructional site in Adobe Edge, exported for use in the enterprise viewer, but have to search-and-replace the Edge output to make it conform.

  • Viewer Builder 2.0 not available?

    Hi,
is there a problem with the Viewer Builder 2.0. Viewer Builder 1.9 is only available. This morning VB 2.0 was posted as download.
    Thanks
    Yves

@Yves – and be aware of a new introduced bug affecting the "afc.db" file.
    See:
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/4376646#4376646
Building all folios anew would be wise using your sidecar.xml files.
Hopefully you have a sidecar.xml file for every folio.

  • Banner Height at Viewer Builder

    At V20 Viewer Builder,
Banner Hight is set 0 ~ 0.375 (the percentage of device's hight occupied by the banner when displayed in the library view. Valid value is between 0 and 0.375).
What is the library view size?
V19 Viewer Builder, I set Banner Hight 180px (switch images for horizontal/vertical by CSS),
so I set 0.23 at V20 Viewer Builder,  on horizontal viewer it works good, but on vertical view it doesn't.
Do I have to create html bunner for V20 Viewer Builder ?

    Steve,
    >
    > In the new viewer builder, the banner no longer asks for a fixed height in pixels for the entitlement banner. Now it asks for a number from 0 to .375 that represents a percentage of the screen height. Unfortunately, it appears that this setting causes the banner to display at different sizes based on the device orientation.
    >
    > When I choose "0.136" as the percentage height, our banner looks fine in portrait mode but it's cut off in landscape, as 13.6% is a different number of pixels for each orientation. This is going to require us to create new banners for our applications as well as code around orientation change events.
    >
    > Worse yet, when I rotate from landscape to portrait, then back to landscape, the banner height stays at the portrait setting. (see screenshot) I'm not sure how I'm supposed to create a banner under these circumstances if the device isn't going to shrink the banner back down.
    >
    > Help!
The percentages will be different amounts based on the orientation, which would be problematic unless the banner can account for this, if I understand correctly. There was also another bug on top of this.

  • Increment Version # in Viewer Builder when code revisions are done

We often run into bugs that we're told have been patched in Viewer Builder.
When we build a new Viewer in VB, the version number is the same, even if codefixes have been put in place since the original release of that version. I think that's a bad practice that should be fixed.
This is dangerous for several reasons, and is very confusing for anyone who is building viewers:
You may believe testing has already been completed for that version, even though there is new code that has been added since you've last tested/built an app.
You can't tell if you're getting the version that has fixes -- the version appears the same as the previous version of the viewer you built your app on.
Its' difficult when you're reporting bugs, because you can't report the exact version of the viewer where the bug is occuring.
You can be unsure if you have built your app on the latest version, or if incremental bug/code fixes have been released since you initially built your viewer.
    Thanks

OK, not the best solution (hopefully someone will be able to tell me where to update Flash Builder to point to the AIRSDK directory instead of {FB install dir}/sdks/4.6.0/lib, but until then, here's a work around.
First make sure to backup your old aot and android directories in your {FB install dir}/sdks/4.6.0/lib and your original adt file (I just renamed them to fileOrDir_original)
Then copy your adt.jar file, aot dir, android dir, and I copied legacy dir also to your {FB install dir}/sdks/4.6.0/lib
You should now be able to compile using the 3.7 AIR SDK.  There's another fix for PIE in AIR 3.8, so I may be updating again soon to the labs build.  I'm hesitant to copy any more files over in case it stops my non-mobile AIR builds from working, but hopefully this will be good enough for mobile builds and for anyone else having this issue in Flash Builder.

  • How to open Viewer from other apps? - App 'URL Scheme' has disappeared from Viewer Builder!

    Hello
The 'URL Scheme' option in the Viewer Builder did let me to specify a url that made other apps open my viewer. But this option has disappeared from the newer version of Viewer Builder. So. How do I do now to let other apps open my viewer?

Is there a spacial reason that the URL scheme option was taken away from ordinary Multi-issue viewers? It was there in earlier version. I'll explain our situation:
Our client want to publish corporate information; annual reports etc, with DPS. Not really magazines or newspapers you subscribe to.
We are making another app where they publish news articles, videos etc. In that app, we want to have a link which opens the viewer with their publications.
To make this simple thing work, we have to create a 'subscription' to content which is not relly good for subscribing (it is free and announced with push anyway). We also have to tell the client to create Privacy Policys etc for this. A lot of hassle for something we do not really want.
Any chance that this option will come back in v19?

  • How the iTunes Subscription (Viewer Builder 1.5.1 with Professional Edition account) works?

We're looking for some information appropriate for our purpose, about iTunes subscription on DPS viewer.
    Please look at questions below.
Q1. What does the "subscribe" button mean at the library screen? If we set a subscription product with one month duration and then our customers purchase for this, can they download all the folios at the library for one month?
Q2. Why an addiotional "subscribe" button appears on below of the latest folio's "purchase/download" button? Is there any specific reason?
Q3. We set everything for an iTunes Subscription viewer with 1 month subscription product both on the Viewer Builder 1.5.1 & iTunes connect in-app purchase manager. And we're now testing the developer version's functionality with an iTunes connect test user account. But when we click on the "subscribe" button and follow all the process, the result is nothing different that each folio, independently set as in-app product, is still showing "purchase" button, not "download". Do we misunderstand the function of iTunes Subscription on DPS viewer?
    Thank you.

Did you try if it actually charges you again ? Maybe it's the same problem like the one users have with already purchased songs, apps, folio's, etc. Upon buying it once again (after removal from the device), the store prompts something like "You've already bought it" ("Yeah I know, me stupid", I always hear my inner voice say) "Would you like to download it again?" ("Of course, why else should I bother, you stupid?") So maybe it's just the wording that might throw you off. Just like I don't like the "Achive" button next to folio's, that actually means (and should say) "Remove" ("Remove from this device, but retain your license"), just like the red-dotted x does with apps. Hey, why not show a red-dotted x ?

  • Possible to make a Newsstand App without subscription using viewer builder 1.9?

As far as I can tell, the only way to enable newsstand through Viewer Builder 1.9 is if I select 'multi-issue with itunes subscription'. In itunes connect newsstand is enabled, but if I build the viewer with the multi-issue option selected and try to upload to apple, I get an error that newsstand is not enabled. (info.plist must include Newsstand=true) We did not plan on offering a subscription, only individual 'issues' for purchase. Is there a way around this? If I set up a free subscription, can I still charge for my individual folios?

Did you include the device's UDID in the mobile provision file?

  • No Folio File field in Viewer Builder?

For some reason I do not have a field to associate a folio file to a viewer in the Viewer Builder. This greatly impairs the user experience.
I'm using Indesign 5.5, have downloaded the most recent updates from the DPS site and have cleared the cache of my browser. I've also released an app in pre-release but this is the first one in the new interface.
The documentation in the DPS help section references the Folio File field in the Basic Settings panel of Viewer Builder but I've navigated through the Viewer Builder and see no place to actually designate the folio to be built into the viewer. What am I missing?
I can see where folios published to the account will automatically populate the viewer and from a developer standpoint maybe there isn't a need to associate a specific file to build and release the viewer itself, but the app for this viewer (that was successfully built in the DPS VB with confirmation as completed) was rejected by Apple because from their point of view it's an app with no content (no actual folio files for an end user to look at.)
    Thanks!

    Thanks for the response Bob.
Yes, multi-folio viewer is what I need for a series of digital magazines. Sorry, in pre-release the multi-folio viewer was built and pointed to a folio file as with a single viewer. The new release is fantastic, I'm not nostalgic. Just trying to troubleshoot.
After your post I assumed then that the viewer must automatically read what's been published and auto-populate the viewer. The problem was that I wasn't seeing the folio in the viewer on my ipad (loaded with iPhone Config Utility) but was seeing it through the generic Adobe Viewer. I checked certificates, settings, etc. in the viewer and everything checked out fine. I then went through publishing options.
What I found was that when the folio is set to free, it is viewable in the custom viewer we've created. When it is set to retail (we are planning on selling this issue) it is not. Has anyone else experienced this? Have I configured soemthing wrong? I re-checked documentation and don't see any additional settings needed for retail release. Is the viewer expecting some additional info from the App Store to process the display icon of the folio for purchase?

  • Re: Viewer Builder Icon and Splash Screen

I entered all the icons and splash screens in the Viewer Builder.  Top of screen says "all icons and splash screen images for ipad SD are complete".  However, when I hit the NEXT button, nothing happens.  I did not enter an optional Fonts Zip for HTML file.  Is this why I cannot move on to Provisioning?

For this reason and for comfort, I made a photoshop template where you can
put in your illustrator, that generates all icons at once.

Found solution after many hours of search and test:
I have Launch2Net Premium 2.6.2 obn my system to get USB 3G Modem stick to work. It install many files into /System/Library/Extensions. All files are SierraDIPService.kext SierraFSPService.kext SierraDevSupport.kext.
Remove SierraDIPService.kext from the above Extensions folder allow MobileDevice.pkg and othe installer that need to update system extension like soundflower.pkg to work properly.
So, Sierra driveris the culprit!! I have to uninstall Launch2Net off my system. But my USB Stick Modem will not work anymore
I have written to Nova System, the developer of Launch2Net to get fix to this problem
Will update if there is any progess

  • Viewer Builder update issue

This update process is just getting absolutely ridiculous. I am trying to get into the viewer builder. It tells me that my viewer builder is out of date and gives me a link to follow. I follow the link, download, install as I am instructed to. When I start the viewer builder after install I am told that my viewer builder is out of date. WHERE IS THE MOST RECENT VIEWER BUILDER? How is this productive and cutting edge? For the investment my company made in this product it should be a LOT easier to keep it up to date. PLEASE provide me a link to the most recent veiwer builder update so that I can move on with my work.

This could be the issue as well. This is the notice that Adobe put on the forums. Upon login, older versions of Viewer Builder (versions 1.5.1 and older) contain a link to upgrade the Viewer Builder that point to the DPS Dashboard. You can download the latest version of Viewer Builder from the Dashboard only if you first delete the existing Viewer Builder from the Applications folder. You can also download the most current Viewer Builder from http://www.adobe.com/go/digpubsuite_vb_mac.
This is exactly what you just told me. So if viewer builder versions 1.5.1 and older are being replaced with a new viewer, why is everything adobe links to taking me to Viewer-Builder-1.5.0-RC.dmg,
Try clicking on any of the links and see.

  • Adobe viewer / build help

Can I test an app (for ipad) without buying the 395 subscription? I need to convince our executive director that this is what we need before she drops 400.
I've built the test file, uploaded to the folio producer, went through the viewer builder process with devID provisions, and now it's asking me for a serial number.
Is there no way to just test the app, on the ipad, without buying the 400.00 product?
    Thanks

I haven't read the Single Edition license agreement, but I believe you can make minor updates to fix typos and URLs and that kind of thing, but you can't make big changes such as swapping out the Spring catalog with Summer catalog content. Again, you should read the agreement to confirm.

  • Viewer Builder update does not install

The Viewer Builder update (Viewer-Builder-1.7.0-RC.dmg) does not install.  After downloading and removing Viewer Builder from the Applications folder, this update does not install.
    Steps:
    - Removed Viewer Builder app from Applications folder
    - Download update from Adobe Site
    - Click to install
    - Opens package and performed some kind of install activity. There are no prompts and quickly finishes
    - No Viewer Builder installed.
Any insights on to this would definitely help.

  • Minor error in Viewer Builder pop-up info

    Hi,
I noticed a minor error in the Viewer Builder pop-up information. When you create a viewer for the iPad and choose "multi issue with iTunes subscription", you get to complete the Newsstand information. The iPad 1 & 2 Landscape Subscription Tile info popup states that the PNG graphic must be 468x135, but in fact this should be 463x135 (see help file PDF). It's not a big deal, but it can be confusing for some users I think.
    Can someone please confirm this?
    Cheers,
    Bart

I'm able to get out this problem.
I'd one month old installation of designer and workbench. During  generating formguide, this set up created mxml with following component for Optional paragraph:
Then I uninstalled the workbench and designer and installed latest 8.2.1_GM version of those and run the formguide again. This time, the produced mxml has the following entry
(Notice the difference from cm.* to cm.controls.*)
As I guess (just a guess),I think earlier it searched CmOptionalParagraph in cm root
(it gave error that referenced component cm.CmOptionalParagraph  not found as it was in cm.controls location.)
Now it is able to find that as it searches correct location.

  • Viewer Builder signing failure for distribution viewer

    I'm having the following problem:
I"m able to download the developer ipa from Viewer Builder with no problems, but when I try to download the distribution build, I get a VB error, "signing failure."
this indicates to me that there is a problem perhaps with my p12 and mobile provisioning profile, but I've done all that correctly, as far as I know, and tried multiple times to reproduce from Apple's provisioning portal, but nothing works.
is anyone else having this problem?

Yes, I've been having this issue since last Friday. But, my ipa isn't working either....
