Viewing an iTunes rental on iPad

Apple says that I can view a rented movie/tv show on my iPad, or iPhone when it's been rented and downloaded to my iMac. But I can't see any way of doing this. Is this correct, if so how's it done. The tv episode I rented is now on my iMac but I'd like to view it on the iPad on a trip. Tried to put the show on the iPad when I was connected to the iMac/iTunes but can't figure a way to do that, if there is one.
Has anyone else tried this?

Rented TV shows cannot at this be viewed on an iPad. That will require iOS 4.2, currently scheduled for release sometime on November.

Cannot download iTunes rental to iPad

Hi, I rented a movie thru iTunes on my iPad, but when I started to download it, I noticed that under the title it said "Expired". That struck me as strange, but it continued to download. Eventually, I left and then came back to my iPad and the screen had an error on it "You have already rented this but it has not been downloaded. Go to Downloads to manage your downloads."
Under Videos > Rentals i can see the movie listed. The icon for the movie has no graphic. It's just a gray box. I can click it and go into the movie details. The play button exists as does the download icon (cloud with down arrow). If i click the download button the error re-appears.
I have tried a "hard reset" of the iPad (holding home and the top button for 4 seconds).
I have logged out and back in using my apple ID.
I have checked region, time zone, and country to confirm they're accurate per other forum discussions.
Does anyone have any ideas on how I can get my download working?

Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with your movie rental. You have taken some really great steps to troubleshoot the issue. I recommend following the steps in the following article to report this to the iTunes Store:
To report an issue with your iTunes Store, App Store, Mac App Store, or iBookstore purchase, follow these steps:
Find the email receipt for your purchase.
Click Report a Problem under the app that is having the issue.
When prompted, enter the Apple ID and password you used to purchase the item, then click Report a Problem.
Click Report a Problem next to the item you are having an issue with.
From the Choose Problem dropdown menu, choose the appropriate issue.
Follow the onscreen instructions and—if prompted—type a description of the problem into the text field.
Click Submit to have your issue reviewed.

Why don't movies Previously purchased in iTunes via my PC show up in purchased view in iTune on my iPad?

I had previously purchased movies via my PC iTunes which don't appear in iTunes on my iPad. Previously purchased music and TV shows do appear in the iPad iTunes in my account? Any ideas what I'm doing wrong? Thanks.

Only apps, music, books and TV shows will appear in your purchased tabs. Movies cannot be downloaded again. What you are seeing is normal and expected behavior on the iPad.

ITunes rental from ipad to Apple TV

I just downloaded a movie on my ipad. I see it in rentals in iTunes but can not get it on my Apple TV. I restarted both devices. Restarted iTunes. Home Sharing is turned on. I went to computers on Apple TV and even selected rentals. It can not find it. Please help!

If you want to view a rental on Apple TV you need to rent directly or via computer. Home-sharing only applies to content on your computer

Can't Transfer iTunes Rental to iPad Mini. Please Help. Have a 9 hr flight tomorrow morning.

I recently rented 3 movies from iTunes for my upcoming flight to Japan from the US. However, when I try to transfer the rented movies from my laptop to my iPad mini, iTunes starts the sync process, but does not copy the movies to my iPad. They are HD movies, I have tried checking the manually manage music and videos, I have erased and reset my iPad, I have sync'd the time on my laptop and my iPad, I have wifi available for the transfer.
After the sync completes, I click on the tab "On My iPad" and go to the "Rentals" tab and the movies appear in a light grey font with a dotted grey circle to the left of the movie.
If anyone has any ideas, please help.

I understand that you are experiencing some confusion with one of your apps on your iPad. If this app was purchased by your Apple ID that is signed in on your iPad and the item has not been removed from the App Store by the developer, then the item should show in your purchased app history, found by using the information in this article:

Itunes rental on ipad says "could not load video"

I downloaded a SD video from itunes 2 days ago to watch on a flight. About 10 minutes in I received an error message "could not load video". I've closed out the app now, restarted my ipad & connected to wifi thinking I could reinstall it. Nothing has worked so far. Do I just need to request a refund for the rental at this point or is there a solution?

Hello! Is it possible to access the iTunes Store similar to the PC version where you can access your account details and view your previous purchases (invoices, not the actual music or app)? Say I want to see where I've paid for an app add-in, I can only see this in my invoice in order to prove that I paid for something and have it reinstalled.

Are you using the charger and cable that came with the phone?

You should be able to sign into your Apple ID on itunes on your computer and go to previously purchased and re-download your songs. You can follow article link below.

If you click the small black arrow next to your iPod's *Device Name* in the left hand pane of iTunes it should open up a submenu underneath. Go ahead and click on Music to see what songs are currently stored on your iPod.

As long as the film has been fully downloaded (or synced) to the iPad's Videos app then you should be able to watch it whilst offline.

No. Homeshare let's you view your iTunes library or others on your network.
Movies should be in the video app on the home screen. If they are not there, then make sure when your iPad is plugged into iTunes on your computer...the video tab is checked to sync what you want..make sure you hit apply after. You should see the movies transferring to your iPad in the status bar on the top of iTunes.
