Viewing angle (with no colour shift) on new iPad much narrower than older iPads

I just got a new iPad yesterday and the new display's resolution is magical!! I am unfortunately experiencing the yellow tinted screen that others are, but I'm hopeful this will improve over a short time as any glues involved perhaps dry. I THINK perhaps it's already improved though this could be my imagination, hard to tell. It's also clear on a totally black screen that it fails to go as dark as my iPad 2, which itself failed to go as dark as my iPad 1. Still, that resolution, spectacular...
I am however also experiencing a very narrow viewing angle, especially in the vertical direction, it's the most worse when held in normal portrait orientation with the cameras at the top, if I tilt the top of the iPad away from me then the entire screen colour shifts to yellow quite strongly within about 10 degrees or so. I'll shoot some video of it at some point compared to the iPad 2. I wonder if the colour yellow could be linked to the general yellow tint that can be seen on whites even in perfectly straight viewing. But I also wonder if the new retina display just has a much narrower viewing angle without colour shift compared to the older iPads.
Would love to hear how other people's new iPad screens are performing in this regard. Are they all shifting as they're tilting, especially in that vertical tilt I described?
Cheers

I have the same problem.  Here is the pic I took to compare with my old iPad 2.

    Sync the data to your new phone. I suspect you won't be able to restore the backup of your old phone to your new phone, & the restore from backup process is all or nothing.

    If you still have your iMovie 6 project, you can import it using FILE/IMPORT/iMovieHD Project.
    If all you have is the finished movie, you can FILE/IMPORT MOVIE.
    If your movie is in DV Stream format, it is advisable to convert it to QuickTime MOV container containing DV codec. Otherwise, the import will be chronological by the date and time the clip was shot, rather than in edited order.

    I'm getting frustrated waiting. I do not own an iPad yet and have held out for a while. A local seller has a new 32GB wifi iPad 1 for $340 cash. Not bad. Should I? I'm going to try again tomorrow morning at the Apple store for the iPad 2 ... but I keep thinking how much I'll save on iPad 1 ...
    Another seller has a 64GB wifi/3G iPad 1 for $500 ... also tempting ...

    It's really difficult to offer advice when we know nothing about your needs. But if your primary interest is in gaming, then I'd definitely advise the iPad 2. Benchmarks are showing its graphics performance to be much higher than the iPad 1. And of course if the cameras are of interest than the iPad 2 would be a must. For general productivity use - email, notes, web surfing, etc - then the iPad 1 might be just fine for you; mine has been serving me well in that role.
    If you can post more about what your needs and likes are, or what is driving you to consider an iPad, we might be able to offer more informed opinions. Ultimately it will come down to what features you need and how much you're willing to spend for them.

  • Change view angle of 3D grid with existing objects

    Hello,
    I am new to the perspective grid in Adobe Illustrator and would really appreciate some help. I have created a simple room interior with a 2 point perspective and a view angle of 45 degree. I would now like to display the same room with a view angle of 60 degree. Is it possible to change the view angle of the 3D with existing objects in it or do I have to re-create the room with a different view angle each time? I can change the numbers in the define perspective setting and the grid changes but the room doesn't seem to change with it.
    Thanks, Conny

    the perspective grid is just a load of fancy guidelines. it can't affect what you draw after the fact any more than a similar grid drawn on paper could.
    Wrong. The Perspective Grid is essentially an envelope distortion, and it is live. Otherwise, objects wouldn't automatically reshape as you move them on the plane to which they are attached.
    Is it possible to change the view angle of the 3D with existing objects in it or do I have to re-create the room with a different view angle each time?
    Even in pre-CC versions, pressing Shift while moving a perspective plane handle moves the attached objects also. Pressing Alt duplicates the objects as they move with the plane.
    By the way, though, it's not "3D". Couching your question in the terms of 3D will suggest to some you're talking about 3D Effect.

    NO. You fundamentally misunderstand. It's a drawing aid like any other guide, not a real 3D space. You need to draw from scratch.

  • Creating a view with existing GeoRaster columns and new SDO_GEOMETRY column

    Hi,
    In a nutshell, I already have 1 real table, which has several attributes including types such as text, numbers etc. but also a GeoRaster column. This table works great, has its metadata stored properly and is spatially indexed; no worries.
    I am then creating a view based on the above mentioned table, including the GeoRaster column. This worked, no problems. However now I want the same view to also have a SDO_GEOMETRY column which explicitly stores the spatial extent for each GeoRaster. Note the original table does not have this SDO_GEOMETRY column. So, I have created a revised SQL statement to create the view, but now it dynamically adds a new column and puts the GeoRaster.spatialextents into the SDO_GEOMETRY column.
    This worked, the data made it into the view, but when we try to view the SDO_GEOMETRY in a viewer, we get errors. I added a system metadata entry for the view, but this did not help. Also, it is not possible to spatially index a view so I knew that was not the problem.
    I think what has happened is the SDO_GEOMETRY column is in a sort of "limbo", where because it was not contained in the original table (and indexed there) and it is not able to be indexed in a view, it cannot be manipulated/viewed/used spatially.
    Here is a snippet describing the original table:
    "IMAGERY_ID" NUMBER NOT NULL ENABLE,
    "CAM_ANGLE_X" NUMBER,
    "CAM_ANGLE_Y" NUMBER,
    "CAM_ANGLE_Z" NUMBER,
    "SPEED" NUMBER,
    "HEADING" NUMBER,
    "IMAGE_GEOR" "SDO_GEORASTER",
    "ACQUISITION_TIME" TIMESTAMP (6),
    "SENSOR_ID" NUMBER,
    "DOWNWARD_LOOKING" CHAR(1 BYTE),
    "ORG_ID" NUMBER,
    "POC_ID" NUMBER,
    "FILE_NAME" VARCHAR2(100 BYTE),
    "CORRELATION_ID" VARCHAR2(256 BYTE),
    And here is the statement I used to create the new view:
    CREATE VIEW level_0_img_view (imagery_id, cam_angle_x, cam_angle_y, cam_angle_z, speed, heading, image_geor, acquisition_time, sensor_id, downward_looking, org_id, poc_id, file_name, correlation_id, geor_extents)
    AS
    SELECT a.imagery_id, a.cam_angle_x, a.cam_angle_y, a.cam_angle_z, a.speed, a.heading, a.image_geor, a.acquisition_time, a.sensor_id, a.downward_looking, a.org_id, a.poc_id, a.file_name, a.correlation_id, a.image_geor.spatialextent
    FROM imagery a
    WHERE a.file_name LIKE '%.lev0';
    Note in the above statement that the "geor_extents" column is the new column added dynamically (and not in the original table). Note the new column with the SDO_GEOMETRY data is flawless, I have looked at the records in SQL developer and all the data is there.
    Any ideas?
    In case you're wondering, I do have reasons for: (i) wanting an explicit column with the SDO_GEOMTRY (serving via WFS), and (ii) not wanting to alter the original table to include the equivalent SDO_GEOMETRY column.
    Cheers,
    M.

    Hi,
    if you are having problems to display your view spatial columns in MapBuilder/MapViewer, you may be missing to register the view information in the metadata (name and spatial columns).
    For example, lets see the following table that simulates your case:
    SQL> desc pci_image;
    Name Null? Type
    GEORID NOT NULL NUMBER
    TYPE VARCHAR2(32)
    GEORASTER MDSYS.SDO_GEORASTER
    -- create a view
    create view pci_img_view (georid,georaster,geor_extents)
    as
    select a.georid,a.georaster,a.georaster.spatialextent
    from pci_image a;
    -- register metadata for view spatial columns (GeoRaster and geometry column)
    insert into user_sdo_geom_metadata
    select 'PCI_IMG_VIEW','GEORASTER.SPATIALEXTENT', diminfo, srid
    from user_sdo_geom_metadata where table_name = 'PCI_IMAGE'
    insert into user_sdo_geom_metadata
    select 'PCI_IMG_VIEW','GEOR_EXTENTS', diminfo, srid
    from user_sdo_geom_metadata where table_name = 'PCI_IMAGE'
    There is no need to index the spatial columns if they have been indexed before.
    Now, if you go in MapBuilder you should see the the view name in the list of geometry tables, and be able to create a theme on column GEOR_EXTENTS (select it on the combo box) and to preview it.
    For the GeoRaster column, currently the view name is not shown on the list of GeoRaster tables in MapBuilder.
    For GeoRaster data, MapBuilder uses the contents of metadata view user_sdo_geor_sysdata, and then it would be needed to register the view contents there. We will talk with Jeffrey to check if there is any problem in registering
    view contents in this metadata view. If the view name and georaster column is registered in user_sdo_geor_sysdata,
    then it should show in MapBuilder. But you can still create a GeoRaster theme for this view using a SQL command, and should be able to preview it in MapBuilder.
    -- create a GeoRaster theme based on view Georaster column.
    insert into user_sdo_themes values (
    'PCI_IMAGE_V_GEOR',
    'View of georaster column',
    'PCI_IMG_VIEW',
    'GEORASTER',
    '<?xml version="1.0" standalone="yes"?>
    <styling_rules theme_type="georaster" raster_id="1" raster_table="RDT_PCI" raster_bands="0,1,2">
    </styling_rules>');
    -- commit changes
    commit;

  • Inserting a new row in a BC4J View Object with an attribute of type BFileDomain

    Hi all,
    I've to insert a row in a View Object with an attribute of type oracle.jbo.domain.BFileDomain.
    I do this within an Application Module's method, which has an input parameter of type byte[]. This parameter will be the content of the BFILE.
    What's the right way for doing that?
    I've tried with the following code, but I've got an exception in committing the transaction:
    public int serializeDocument(int codDomanda, int codSorgente, byte[] content, String est, int type, int cost, String title, String arg) throws JboException {
    int code = 0;
    //File f;
    DocumentiTwoView = getDocumentiTwoView();
    java.sql.Statement stmt = ((DBTransaction) getTransaction()).createStatement(1);
    try {
    Row docRow = DocumentiTwoView.createRow();
    SequenceImpl seq = new SequenceImpl("documenti_seq", getDBTransaction());
    Integer next = (Integer) seq.getData();
    code = next.intValue();
    docRow.setAttribute("Coddocumento", new Number(code));
    docRow.setAttribute("Titolo", (String) title);
    docRow.setAttribute("Argomento", (String) arg);
    docRow.setAttribute("Costo", new Number(cost));
    docRow.setAttribute("Tipo", new Number(type));
    docRow.setAttribute("Coddomanda", new Number(codDomanda));
    docRow.setAttribute("Codsorgente", new Number(codSorgente));

    BFILE src_lob = null;
    ResultSet rset = null;
    rset = stmt.executeQuery ("SELECT BFILENAME('DOC_DIR', 'Doc" + code + "." + est + "') FROM DUAL");
    if (rset.next()) {
    src_lob = ((OracleResultSet)rset).getBFILE(1);
    BFileDomain bfd = new BFileDomain(src_lob);
    bfd.setBytes(content);
    bfd.saveToDatabase(getTransaction());
    docRow.setAttribute("Contenuto", (BFileDomain) bfd);
    catch (Exception ex) {
    getTransaction().rollback();
    throw new oracle.jbo.JboException("Impossibile creare il nuovo documento:\n" + ex.getMessage());

    Odd, have you disabled caching and indirection? (NoIdentityMap, dontUseIndirection, or alwaysRefresh/disableCacheHits). If so, then this could be the issue.
    Otherwise please include the sample code you use to perform this, and verify that you do not have any unusual code in your set/get methods or in descriptor events. Also turn TopLink logging on and include a sample. Also ensure that you do not modify your objects until after registering them in the unit of work, and only modify the unit of work clones.

  • When I open my image, it is covered with tiny coloured dots.  how do I turn off this view?

    when I open my image, it is covered with tiny coloured dots.  how do I turn off this view? i've used photoshop for years and never encountered this.  i looked at the histogram for some means of turning it off, but no luck.  help

    The issue I think is connected to the colour profile, and the 8,16, or 32 bit image mode option.  In the past, my images have come from lightroom as 16 bit files and I've never had any issues.  I guess I'm not very adept at the file handling aspect of this program.  I shoot in RAW and like to play around with my photos, then print them.  I was under the impression I should be using the srgb colour selection not RGB, but then I've read I should change it to RBG once I'm ready to save the file to print.  I also changed my files over the 8 bit from 16 once I saved the after using photoshop.

    Because the WWW is based on untagged (2.2 gamma) sRGB - your genius is probably sending you untagged sRGB if they were Saved for the Web (that's how I prepare my Web color).
    Your Mac display should be profiled to 2.2 gamma (you are likely at the old default 1.8 gamma now if you're seeing a lightness shift on untagged sRGB)...if you want "your color" back in Photoshop, you will need to (re)Assign the sRGB profile...

  • How does Photoshop implement L*a*b*. Does it use CIE LAB with 2 percent view angle and Bradford CAT @ D50?

    Does anyone know how Adobe Photoshop implements
    L*a*b* to calculate image data

    What version of Lab = CIE, ICC etc..

    As explained in our documentation: LAB in Photoshop is D50, 2 degree standard observer, matching the ICC version 2 PCS.

  • Viewing Angle

    Hi All,
    I swapped from a (the newest) Titanium PBook to the Mbk Pro and I find the viewing angle on this screen is much poorer. There are fairly significant changes in brightness/colour when I move by small angles (approx 30 deg up and down). In fact, this screen resembles the screen of the iBook that my sister has. I've never used an Al Pbook so I'm not sure when this poor viewing angle business started. Have any of you noticed the same thing?

    and gets people who are working together to get closer and more intimate as they squeeze into the MBP's very limited viewing area. I can imagine Apple's new ad:
    "The New Macbook Pro - bringing people together like never before"
    ...followed my an image of 5 people squeezing together in order to see the screen.

  • Colour shift when using 4.2 Edit In to adjust a NEF file in CS6

    If I choose Edit In and CS6 the resulting image in CS6 shows a marked colour green/yellow colour shift.
    The LR4 external editor is configured to edit using ProPhoto RGB with 16 bit TIFF.
    However, if I use the Export option with the same settings and then open the image in Photoshop it is fine.
    Equally, if I first convert the NEF image to a DNG and then use Edit In with the same settings it also appears fine in Photoshop. This would appear to rule out any issues with monitor profiles (monitor profiled with i1).
    Therefore this appears to be an issue with NEF files (Nikon D3) using the Edit In facility.
    Also for some obscure reason it also does not always give the option to Edit a Copy with Lightroom Adjustments and just goes straight to Photoshop (even though it has been adjusted in Lightroom!).

    manicfoto wrote:
    Richard,  perhaps I have not made the issue clear.   If I import an image into Lightroom and choose Edit In Photoshop it should go straight to Photoshop as no changes have been made in Lightroom.  However, if I make any adjustments in the Develop module and choose to make further changes in Photoshop I should have the option to Edit a Copy with Lightroom Adjustments etc.  This dialog is not offered consistently.
    If I make a change in Photoshop it should (and does) correctly save it as a new TIFF file.  Again if I make any adjustments in Develop module and then choose to make further changes in Photoshop to the TIFF file it should still offer the dialog box with the copy options.  Again this is not happening consistently.
    Richard correctly explained how 'Edit In' works with raw files, at least that's the way it does on my Windows 7 64 bit system.
    When selecting 'Edit in' with a raw file the 'What to Edit' popup with options for 'Edit a Copy with LR adjustments,' 'Edit a Copy,' and 'Edit Original' will not appear. Instead a TIFF file is created in system memory with LR adustments applied, which then opens in PS. Until you hit 'Save' in PS the TIFF file resides only in system memory. Once you hit 'Save' or Save As' (with the same folder location) the TIFF file will appear inside LR with both the LR and PS adjustments applied.
    manicfoto wrote:
    trshaner, I have done some further testing of the DNG files, and they do, in fact, also exhibit the same colour shift behaviour, although the amount of the shift seems to depend on the original image - some images show a more marked shift than others which was not obvious to me at first.
    This is consistent with LR output rendering engine problem if both the NEF and DNG copy for a specific image take on the same color shift. Since the effect is very subtle on a single conversion I can see where you might have confused the DNG as looking OK.
    manicfoto wrote:
    I then performed another test with a TIFF file and although the change was smaller the colour definitely shifts, with the amount of shift being determined by the contents of the original image, so I have to conclude that I have the output rendering issue mentioned earlier in the thread.
    Incidentally, the colour shift issue is also found if I use the option to Open as a Smart Object in Photoshop.
    I have re-installed Lightroom 4.2 but the problem is still the same.
    To really confirm that this is being caused by the LR output rendering engine you will need do an additional 'Edit a Copy with LR Adjustments'  to the TIFF file. This will create a 2nd TIFF file, which you can then select and then 'Edit a Copy with LR Adjustments.' I would do this at least three times to insure you can see the "cumulative' effect from the LR output rendering engine conversion. You will want to compare the last TIFF file (4th) with the original (1st) TIFF file.
    Please try this and post the histograms for the original TIFF and last Tiff with three cumulative 'Edit a Copy with LR Adjustments,' or confirm that's what you have already done in the above posted histograms.

  • Dng colour shift from bridge to jpg's....cs2

    Hello everyone. I am very new at this so I really hope that someone can help me.
    I have a new eos 5 mark 11.
    I use cs2 which doesn't recognise the RAW images. I have downloaded dng and started colour correction in bridge.
    I have saved the files as jpg's but........ there is a huge colour shift. They look terrible.
    What am I doing wrong?? please help.

    I'm trying to figure out the same thing. As far i discovered that Photoshop as default display images without any proofing. Fax viewer in windows is color managed (at least in theory). That's why adobe created sRGB (for viewing on screen).
    Try to turn on proof colors (ctrl + y) and set it to monitor RGB. This will show you your terrible jpg's in PS.
    Saved jpg's in PS looks brighter, but less vivid.
    RAW (converted or not) files saved as jpg's look far worse (terrible, as you said) in windows fax viewer, but I don't know why. Try to compare it, shooting RAW + jpg. Jpg's looks ok (better in bridge), RAWs looks ok in PS, but after saveing them as jpgs... (without proofing) they are so bad! RAW are great, but sometimes it's pointless to shoot in RAWs, becaouse you will have a lot of work to develop good settings. This drives me crazy , when jpg from camera looks better than RAW file (no correction).
    You can show bad jpgs as good jpgs in web using photoshop express gallery (I gues it uses same engine as PS and Bridge)

  • Convert to Profile colour shift

    Can anyone help me deal with a problem that affects some AdobeRGB files when I convert them to SRGB? In a very small number of cases when I convert to profile (srgb IEC61966-2.1) there's a noticeable shift in certain vivid reds and greens; they become much duller and in some cases the colour actually changes. When this occurs it's usually apparent in colourful clothes such as Indian saris. I'm not referring to limitations in the srgb colour space. After I've worked on the Adobe files in Photoshop (CS6) in a wide gamut environment I view them with my monitor (Dell U2713H) set to emulate the srgb colour space, then make any Hue/Saturation adjustment before converting to profile and saving as JPG  files with embedded profiles for uploading to the web. In most cases the converted file looks the same as the pre-converted file, but sometimes there's this marked colour change somewhere in the picture. For example, in one case a turquoise shawl became a dull blue; in another, a vivid green stripe on a dress became a pale greenish-yellow. In the former case when I checked the colour data I found that all red had been stripped from the shawl, making it impossible to do any further tweaking with channel mixer or colour balance tools to get the original colour back. The change is visible in Photoshop, so it's got nothing to do with my image viewer. As soon as I click on 'convert to profile' the colour goes.
    Is there any way of dealing with this problem?

    I agree with your comments about saturation and B/W. When I think of great photos by acknowledged master I tend to think of B/W photos. In a photography book I have the best photos are either B/W or colour photos where the colours are very muted with subtle gradations. I am constantly having to resist a tendency to overdo saturation layers in PS. Thanks very much for taking the trouble to put together those gamut graphs. Much appreciated.
    D Fosse, I like your picture very much. The green looks just right. Out of interest I opened it in Photoshop in 3 different versions, firstly as it is, secondly converted to AdobeRGB and thirdly  with the embedded profile discarded. In the last case the green appeared over-saturated and unrealistic.
    I've attached the image I referred to earlier with the green-striped dress, again with an Adobe embedded profile and with an srgb profile. Neither has had any colour enhancement in PS, though I bumped up vibrance slightly in the RAW processing.. Viewed in an srgb environment the green is the only colour that shows a change; any change in the magenta is imperceptible.
    There are still aspects of colour management and gamut that I haven't quite got my head around but I'm on a learning curve, and you've all been exceptionally helpful.
