Viewing attached files in iCal events

I use iCal for work appointments.
When an appointment has an attached file to it, I can't see the file: when I click (or press space bar) on the name of the file I only get a blank page, and the name of the file attached to the appointment is different form the original, looks like a temp file with random name, like asdrf56nfro.
Can anybody please help me with this?

This sample is just for demonstration purposes - so it might not make a lot of sense to do, but we have a live web site that has a need to pop-up additional details for the PDF file being viewed and we run into this problem where the first PDF works, but when you move from one to the next, the PDF does not display in Adobe 9.  If you are running Adobe 9 and you click on the refresh this page link you should get an error or a blank area where the PDF would normally display.

  • Can't Attach Files to Delegate Events on iCal Server

There might be a bug in the iCal Service:
Attempting to attach a file to an event in a delegate calendar using iCal 4.0.4 client for Mac generates an error:
"The server responded with an error.
Access to “Event” in “calendar” in account “First Last” is not permitted.
    The server responded:
    “HTTP/1.1 403 Forbidden”
    to operation CalDAVSetDropBoxAclQueueableOperation.
[Button:] Go offline; [Button:] Revert to Server"
The item might appear to be attached to the event afterwards, even if you chose 'revert to server', but eventually the calendar will refresh without the attachment. We have been able to recreate this behavior on multiple clients.
Anyone know how to resolve this? Thanks.

I am having the same problem. The only thing I have found that consistently works is to click rapidly (I use a usb mouse). It isn't the most technical approach but it does the trick.  Hopefully the issue will be resolved for good in the near future.
I am using Safari 6.0.2 and Mac OS X 10.8.2

  • Attach email to iCal event

Does anyone know how (if) I can attach an email file (from Entourage) with an iCal event? I know how to attach a "file" but can't seem to figure out how to attach a stored email in one of my Entourage folders.

I don't use entourage, just Apple mail, but from mail its easy. You can just drag the email from your inbox, and drop it in the new event box in ical and it adds it as a url. Hope there is a similar situation with entourage!

  • Sharing files and iCal events between different users (accounts) on one Mac

    Hi,
I have a new iMac with Leopard. I have two accounts on this machine: one for myself and one for my girlfriend. I want to share files with her such as iPhoto events (so I don't have to import photos twice), iCal events (so I don't have to send her an email to synch our calendars), music from iTunes and other files.
Does anyone know how to easily do this? I have tried the drop folder for sharing but it only appears across a network if I am logged in and won't transfer to different users.
    Daniel

thanks, zevoneer. apparently, I gave up too early in my own search. I'm trying it now - the copy process is taking some time. Well, I had hoped to narrow the access down to only one other account but at least this should provide the access that is needed.

  • Is it possible to view "Attach File" annotations in Adobe Reader for iPhone 5s?

Most of my annotations transfer well from Adobe Reader XI to Reader for iOS but "Attach File" annotations don't seem to carry over. I would like to be able to attach image and video files and have them function on an iOS device.
    Versions:
    iOS: 7.0.4
    Adobe Reader iOS: 11.2.1
    Adobe Reader Windows: XI 11.0.0
It would also be nice to have the same comment tracking functionality that exists in the desktop version. Knowing when and by whom each comment was made would be helpful in the field.

Thanks for your feedback. Adobe Reader for iOS does not support attaching of images and videos at the moment.
We have taken note of both your requests.

  • View attached files for Sales Order in Approbation.

    Hi,
I have attached a file in a Sales Order. My Sales Order then goes to approbation. Can my approbator open the attached file WITHOUT having to open the Sales Order.
    Thank you !

    Hi Thanh,
There is no such option to open the attached file without opening the sales order the approver has to open the order to check the attachment.

  • Unable to view attached file after upgrade to yosamite

Ever since I upgraded my 2009 iMAC to Yosamite, most of the attached files in my mail box turned to characters. Images are not viewable.

    RKaufmann87,
Here is one of the attached files that changed to character. While only a few of the attached image files changed to characters, other attached files in the same email are fine. Usually, I would say roughly about 20% of the attached file changed to characters.
    Thanks

  • Attaching document photo to ical event

I want to attach a document scan to an ical event but don't want to attach a URL file, is there an easy way to go about this?

Unfortunately what I failed to mention is that I am trying to do this from my iphone, which doesn.t allow me to attach photos to ical events in photo

  • I have moved to i cloud and ical event is not allowing file attachment to be added

I have set up icloud and now when I enter an event in Ical there doesn't appear to be a way to attach a file. I heve tried dragging the file over the event  editor as per help, but that doesn't work and there is not menu item for attachments that I can find.
Surely this facility shoudl still be there.

The attach feature works only on calendars OnMyMac. Alternatively you can add an URL to your file:
    open event and Edit it
    drag the file
drop the file on URL field
    Press OK button
When you click on URL link, folder containing  the file opens.

  • ICal event file attachment does not show in mobileMe calendar or iPhone

I am new to iCal. I setup events in the iCal application. Under the edit option I added files to the events. I can open the files on my iMac. The files do not appear on the mobilMe website or my iPhone calendar.
    Any ideas?

iBooks appear in the separate iBooks app in OS X 10.9 Mavericks.
Audible handles only audiobooks. They can't help with any issue with an iBook.
    Regards.

  • Some iCal events disappear when in week view

    Hello all,
I recently had a double agenda booking. Today I found out why:
In week view some iCal events disappear... When i switch to month view, they reappear.
So, depending on the view i have open time slots. Not very reliable.
Anyone know what i can do to return to solid bookings again?
    Best regards
    Fred

Same problem here. I just imported everything from my old MacBook to my new one using Time Machine. My events appear in the Month view but not in the Week or Day views. So I went back to my old MacBook, created an iCal backup file, and emailed it to myself. Opened it on the new machine, restored from the backup file, and . . . same thing!
Very strange!! I need my daily events to be visible. Any help out there?

  • How can I attach a document to an iCal event invitation?

I tried doing some research on this and tried the "Help" part of iCal.  The option given there said
Attach a file to an event
If you want to associate a particular file with an event (for example, a document you need to remember to take to an appointment), you can attach it directly to the event in iCal so it’s easy to remember and find when you need it. You can also share meeting materials with others by attaching them to event invitations.
In iCal, double-click the event. If the event editor isn’t open, click Edit to open it.Open iCal
Drag the file you want over the open event editor. You can also click Add File next to “attachments,” navigate to the file you want, and then click Open. The file appears in the “attachments” field.
If the “Allow Invitees to Manage Files” checkbox is available and you want to allow invitees to add or remove files from the event invitation, select the checkbox.Only the meeting organizer can select or deselect the checkbox.
To remove a file that you attached to an event, select it, and then press the Delete key.
To remove a file that you attached to an event, select it, and then press the Delete key.
iCal allows you to see a preview of any file attached to an event. To see a preview, select the file in the “attachments” field, and then press the Space bar. Click the Close (x) button in the top-left corner of the preview window to close it.
The problem is there is no Add File or attachments.  I am using the iCloud based iCal and running latest update on Lion.  Can anyone help me with this problem?

You need to start in the app that contains/owns the document, and then use that app to select the document and send/switch into the Mail app. You can't start in the Mail app as it doesn't have an attach facility

  • ICal attached file gone wrong

I use file attachements a good bit in iCal, but recently, when I go to view them I get this:
    http://emberapp.com/radmacdaddy/images/screen-shot-2010-02-22-at-11-36-49-am
Seems the links are messed up. What might correct this other than having to rebuild the whole series of calendars.

  • Attaching a file to repeating events

When I attach a file to a repeating event, why does it attach it to all of the events? Say for instance I have class on my calendar, so I repeat the event (as it is a repeating event, hah), and I want to attach each day's reading to each individual class - with the current ical, i cant attach specific files to recurring events. Darn.

FC, would that be first class or did you mean tickets to the Football Championships (soccer of course)?
I'm still in the dark about the points thing, but assume that whoever has the most, come the next forum changeover, will be flown to San Jose for lunch in the Adobe cafeteria... ?
If that is the intent, you are way ahead of me, so you have a good chance of winning....
