Viewing Camera RAW files on iPod

This is more of a suggestion than an issue.
If Apple is going to release Aperture which is going to be a Raw file manager than it only follows that they must have a passing interest in photographers. As a working pro I've always backed up to an iPod during location shoots and I also always keep a copy of my portfolio images on it as well. I would LOVE to be able to see these images. There needs to be support for Raw and (unflat) PSD files which are the only files that photographers are really using. Jpegs are fine for consumers but you're missing the point here.
I'm actually now buying iPods as combination thank you and delivery hard drive for large jobs. Save me the hassle of converting 1700 Raw files into Jpegs just so they'll display on the screen.
Please.
Gregor

  • Can't view Camera RAW files in Bridge or Photoshop CS4 after upgrading to Mac Mavericks X OS.

After upgrading my Mac operating system to Mavericks X I can no longer view Camera RAW images on either Bridge or Photoshop CS4!
I'd already fixed the issue of not even being able to launch Photoshop by installing Apple's Java applet, but this doesn't seem to have helped with the Camera RAW situation.
I've tried invoking "Update" in both Bridge and Photoshop, and both indicate there are no updates.
I even went to Adobe's Camera RAW area, and downloaded and installed the Camera RAW plugin specifically for my cameras (Canon 5D Mk ii) and Photoshop CS4, and that hasn't helped at all!
I feel that it's just another silly Java applet, but I haven't any idea how to proceed from here!
    HELP!
    Thank you,
    Bob

Did you download and install the camera raw 5.7 update?
Adobe - Photoshop : For Macintosh : Camera Raw 5.7 update
There are also other updates you should install, such as 11.0.2 for photoshop and the bridge output module update, if you need them.

  • Unable to view camera RAW files on Windows 7 and CS4 - Have tried updates

All working OK until 8 days ago, then bridge just disappeared completely. Looked like it had opened but would disappear when I clicked on the icon. Re-installed, Bride now visable but unable to view .CR2 files in camrea RAW or in Photoshop, comes up as "unable to open". Have tried to install the 5.7 camera raw update, extract files, click on application, then photoshop opens and advises "invalid file type". Not sure what to do now and have a large number of weddin files slowly building up .... PLEASE HELP!!

When something works one day, but not the next, then something has changed. The task is to find out what that is.
    Have you installed new hardware?
    Have you installed new software?
Have you had any major updates installed?
Those are but a few things to ponder.
You might want to create a new System Restore Point (on a PC) for today, and then boot to Safe Mode, choosing System Restore, and choose a point, from at least 8 days before. Reboot, when prompted, and test. At the least, you have only lost a few minutes, as you can Restore to today's System Restore Point. The Mac has something called Time Machine, and I would think that it could do similar, but just do not know, as I am a PC-only guy.

  • View Camera Raw files fine in Browser, but image not supported in Viewer

    Hi,
I have a Canon EOS 20D camera and shoot in RAW format nearly all of the time. When I import those photos into Aperture 2.0.1 they import fine and all appear in the Browser window no problem. However, when I want to see them in the Viewer, either by double clicking a photo in the browser, or by having my monitor display both the Browser and the Viewer at the same time, the photo cannot be seen in the Viewer. I get "Unsupported Image Format" on the screen. Meanwhile, even if the Browser is on screen at the same time, the photos appear fine there.
    Any ideas?
    thanks

    Two things you could try:
    A) Re-build your library (hold down Alt + Command while starting Aperture).
    B) Re-generate your perviews (hold down Alt while clicking the menu "Images", select "Generate Previews for Project).

  • Can't update camera raw file in photoshop cs5

I have Adobe Photoshop CS5, version 12.0.4.  I am trying to open camera raw files ending in ARW (Hasselblad Stellar Camera) and PhotoShop tells me there are no updates available.  I have downloaded the mac os file (using Yosemite, latest version) and get the message the installation was successful, however, PhotoShop still shows that the Camera Raw Version is still 6.0.0.205.  I can view the ARW files in finder, however when I try to open the file in PhotoShop CS5 I get this message:
Could not complete your request because the file appears to be from a camera model which is not supported by the installed version of Camera Raw.
Please visit the Camera Raw help documentation for additional information.

you can update ps cs5 to cr 6.7
update by downloading the files directly and then applying them:
    pre cc updates:  http://www.adobe.com/downloads/updates/
i'm not sure which camera you have but the hassleblad stellar II needs cr 8.8 or better.
your options (if that's your camera) are to upgrade ps or to use the dng converter.

  • Is there a plug-in that will allow me to view CR2 (raw) files from a Cannon 5D Mark III to PSE 9 ?

is there a plug-in that will allow me to view CR2 (raw) files from a Cannon 5D Mark III to PSE 9 ?

The 5D.3 was first supported in ACR 6.7 which you need PSE 10 to use, so there is no plug-in for PSE9 that will allow opening the files from a camera newer than when PSE9 became obsolete.
Besides getting PSE12, assuming it is supported on your current computer—check the specs, you can use the free DNG Converter available from http://www.adobe.com/downloads/updates.html
to convert your CR2 files to DNG files that are compatible with older versions of ACR.  Be sure to set your DNGC compatibility settings to a version old enough to be openable with PSE 10’s ACR.
As far as whether the OP is serious, it doesn’t hurt to ask the question before spending money on something you didn’t need.

  • Strange object formed when saving camera-RAW file as TIFF

Perhaps someone has a clue as to what the strange circular object  seen on the picture below might be (on the upper-left area of the  photo), because I have no idea.
My best, yet  uninformed, guess is that this is an electronic random generation of  single-value white and gray pixels within my Photoshop CS3 program.
This is how the "circular object" came into existence:
    -  With a Canon 5D camera on tripod I shot this night view of San  Francisco's Union Square Macy's store.  Camera data: 5" @ f/8, ISO 50,  23mm focal length, EF17-40mm f/4L USM lens, 2010-Nov-12, 6:37pm, Max.  RAW size setting.
    - Later on with Photoshop CS3 I saved  the camera-RAW file as a TIFF; straightened converging vertical lines  with Perspective, and selected the entire black-sky area over Macy's  roof; within that selection only, applied a 12x exposure increase to obtain  hidden data from shadows; that's when the black, gray, cyan and blue  pixels right over the roof appeared... as well as the circular object in  question.
    - Later attempts to recreate the circular  object--following the exact same steps of the first RAW-to-TIFF  conversion--render the same black, gray, cyan and blue pixels over Macy's  roof, but NOT the circular object.  The circular object formed only ONCE, during the very first RAW-to-TIFF conversion.  Obviously, all further JPG copies of the original TIFF file do carry the circular object.
    - Have you had  similar "mysterious" Photoshop "creations" in your images?  Do you  have any theories as to what in the world this circular object is?  If  so, please write me at [email protected]
    Thank you,
    Juan

What comes to mind is the Adjustment Brush in Camera Raw.  I just fooled with a dark image and was able to make it show something similar to what you're seeing by clicking the adjustment brush in a dark part.  When I opened the image the circular area was essentially invisible, but it became quite visible upon pushing the Exposure up.  In this case I could not push it up to 12x as you did; only about 5x.

  • Canon 5d mark iii camera raw files with CS3

Hi, I recently bought a Canon 5d mark iii camera and am having difficulty viewing the raw files on my Mac. The Mac operating software is 10.5.8 and the mac doesnt have intel. Photoshop software is CS3. I have looked at various plug ins but am struggling to find one that will work. Is there no option to me other than buying a new laptop with the latest photoshop or is there a workaround?  Thanks in advance for your help, Mike

    Here's the bottom line:
You will never be able to open the image files from your Canon 5d mark III directly in CS3, because that camera model was first supported in Camera Raw 6.7 (which only works with CS5) and 7.1 which only works with CS6.
However, you can download the free Adobe DNG Converter 7.1 and convert your Canon raw files to raw DNGs that you can open with any version of ACR starting with ACR 2.4, which takes you all the way back to CS1.  Therefore, you'll be able to open them in CS3 with no problem.
Get the latest version of the Adobe DNG Converter, it is a stand-alone application that is not tied to whatever version of Photoshop you happen to use.  The current version is 7.1 and there's also a beta version 7.2RC1.
Yes, if you can afford a Canon 5D Mark III, you can afford to upgrade from CS3 to CS6 for very little money ($199 for a perpetual license) if you act fast.  CS3 will be out of the upgrade loop in late December or so.
I'm one of the many to whom the prospect of buying into Adobe's subscription mode and end up paying the Adobe tribute every month for life seems nothing less than repulsive.
With that camera (a rich man's camera) is silly to be using a laptop (a beggar's machine).  Get a decent desktop Mac or PC already!

  • Updated Camera Raw File for CS2 / Canon Powershot G10

I am still using Photoshop CS2, but unfortunately I need the updated Camera Raw file (v5.6) for use with the Canon Powershot G10, and it appears the unless I upgrade to CS4 I won't be able to view any RAW files shot with this camera.
Is there an updated Camera Raw version for the Powershot G10 that is still supported under CS2?
    Thanks!

ACR 5.4 was released last night and it requires CS4.  That is the latest and current version of Camera Raw.
5.6 probably won't appear until next year.
If you download the free, stand-alone Adobe DNG Converter 5.4, you can convert the raw files from your camera to raw DNG files you can then open in ACR 3.7 hosted by CS2.

  • Hi, I have Photoshop CS5 and cannot view my RAW files. Can anyone help me, please?

    Hello,
I have PS5 and I cannot view my raw files. Can you help me?

    Hi Gautam,
You are right thank you. I check the article and my camera canon 6D
requires camera raw 7.3 and I have 6.0. What to do then?
I did so research, I tried to open my PS5 and went to help \ update and I
tried downloading update like 4 times each time there was a message "there
was an error downloading this update. Please quit and try again later".
I just need camera raw 7.3 so I can work on my raw files. Maybe you will be
able to help. I appreciate in advance.

  • Camera raw file from EOS 650D

I can not view my Camera raw file from EOS 650D on my laptop - which uses photoshop CS5 (as part of my creative suite)
I have now purchsed a new mac laptop and photoshop CS6 (part of the creative suite collection) and still can not view my camera raw files. Any help would be much apricated as i have not been able to view my file for 2 weeks now.
    Thank you so much,
    syc

That camera model was supported for the first time by ACR 7.1 which only works with Photoshop 13.0.1 ("CS6").
When you first instal CS6, it installs ACR 7.0.  You must now update the Adobe Camera Raw plug-in to 7.2, wich is the current version.
Just go to Photoshop > Help > Updates and apply all available updates.  That will take you to Photoshop 13.0.1 and ACR 7.2.

The file that you downloaded is a self-contained running application that installs the update on your computer. After you download that file, you need to double-click on it and follow the prompts to install it. After it has completed you will have Lightroom 4.4 installed and it will be ready to run. If you are on a Windows computer, the installation will replace your 4.1 installation. If you are on a Mac then you will have both versions installed and you will have to be sure you start the right one.

  • Opening RAW files in Bridge - not recognized as "Camera RAW files"

I would appreciate any help with this as I am frustrated after spending hours trying to figure this out:
    I use a Mac OS X laptop
I have a Panasonic (DMC FZ8) camera that I've been taking RAW pictures with. I plug my camera into my computer and try and open the RAW files directly from the camera using Bridge (I have Photoshop CS2)..I have also tried copying the files to a folder on my desktop and opening from there. The problem is that Bridge doesn't recognize my .RAW files as actual "Camera RAW" files and the icons remain as the Preview icon and not actually a preview of the image. If I click on it to open it in Photoshop the "Photoshop RAW Options" come up set on 8 bits and when I open it, it's just a gray screen. I have checked the settings for RAW Camera and the Panasonic RAW files .raw is selected. I have also tried selecting "show only camera raw files" in my window that is open and my .RAW files that are there gray out - so the program isn't recognizing them.
I just downloaded the Plug-in 3.7 Camera Raw and had to create folders for it in Application Support/Adobe/Plug-Ins/CS2/File Formats. the only folder I had was Application Support/Adobe so the rest I created.
I'm now lost as to what I should do next. Nothing I try seems to be working.
    PLEASE HELP!

    >I plug my camera into my computer and try and open the RAW files directly from the camera
    Ouch! Ouch! Ouch!
That is a monumentally bad idea. Transfer the closed files to your local hard drive first.
This excerpt is from a long-gone post by the late, lamented author Bruce Fraser:
    Bruce Fraser - 4:17pm Jun 14, 04 PST (#5 of 21)
Opening files directly from the camera is a bad idea for a variety of reasons*, and it most certainly isn't faster than using a FireWire or USB2 card reader.
             Drains the camera battery
Runs the risk of the software you're using to open the images writing to the card and destroying the format
Runs a small but significant risk of USB power frying the camera
Slowest method known to mankind of getting images off a CF or SD card

  • I upgraded my camera and opening a camera raw file no longer works

I went from a Nikon D3000 to a Nikon D5200.  I have an old version of Elements (version 8) and I no longer can open a camera raw file.  I tried finding an answer in the support area but am not sure I found what I needed to know.  Since my camera is new and didn't exist at the time I purchased Elements does that mean that my old version doesn't support my camera?

You need to buy PSE12 or Lightroom 5.
Alternatively, download and install the free Adobe DNG converter to convert your raw files to the Adobe universal Raw format and the files will open in all versions of PSE (keep your originals as backups and for use in the camera manufactures software)
Windows download (.exe file) click here DNG Converter 8.2
Mac download (.dmg file) click here DNG Converter 8.2
You can convert a whole folder of raw images in one click. See this quick video tutorial:
