Viewing Camtasia SWF output in Robohelp 10

Is it possible to view SWF videos created using Camtasia in Robohelp 10?
I imported the video files into my Baggage folder but the video is still not viewable, even after publishing the project. I assume this has something to do with the additional files Camtasia generates?
I've seen earlier posts indicating that Camtasia created flash videos didn't work in previous versions of Robohelp. I'm hoping this isn't the case anymore. If anyone knows of a way to make it work, I'd appreciate the help.

Okay, I've sorted making it work. Here are the notes.
First, it's worth noting that while a SWF is in the mix of Camtasia created files, it's not the main file. It's just a supporting file among many others. The main file appears to be a file with .mp4 as the file extension. (I said that because with video content, the extension is really more of a container or wrapper than anything else. So other than knowing it's got an extension of .mp4, you really don't know for certain what's inside.)
So with Camtasia output, it's not as simple as just clicking Insert > Multimedia/Demo.
What I did to make it all work was to inspect the HTML page Camtasia created and copy the iframe code from the Camtasia page to the topic page where I was inserting the video. Then I had to create some folders in my RoboHelp project that matched the folders Camtasia created. After that, I added the files from the Camtasia folders to the new RoboHelp folders as baggage files. Once I did that things seemed to work just fine.
Alternatively, you may omit the steps of copying the iframe code from the Camtasia file and simply import the Camtasia HTML file and link to it so it opens as any other topic would and completely fill the topic pane.
Hope this helps... Rick

  • Not able to view the webhelp output in Robohelp 9

    Hello,
I am in a project where we have to create webhelp output from Robohelp 9. Whenever I generate the webhelp ouput I am not able to view the the contents. Although, the webhelp is opening in a browser window but there are no topics present in the contents. The other ouputs like .chm and .dox are fine, but there is some problem with the webhelp which I am unable to figure out.

    What browser are you using?
If Chrome, try something else. Chrome works fine with help on the server but not locally. There is more in Snippets on my site about the Chrome issue.

  • Best way to import a Camtasia .SWF File?

I recently created a screen tutorial (as an .swf file) using
Camtasia Studio 5 and would like to import the .swf I created into
a topic of a Flash Web project I'm working on. I tried putting the
.swf on in an .htm but RoboHelp crashes. It doesn't crash with
other .swf files, but on this one it does.
The file plays fine if I double-click on the .swf inside
Windows Explorer, so it seems a problem with RoboHelp.
Now, I can get the video to work inside the project if I copy
the .swf file, the .js file, and the swf's .htm file manually copy
the project folder. If I preveiw it CTRL + W at this point it
works. If I build the project, the .swf and .htm (because I copied
them manually) don't get included into the single source layout
folder. I can probably add them manually there too and then
publish, but there has to be a better way.
Anyone have any success with importing Camtasia .swf files
into RH7 and could maybe give me some pointers so i don't have to
    manually copy files everywhere?

    Hi Jared
You probably simply need to add all the related files to your
    Baggage Files folder.
Note that if your output is a .CHM file, I believe that
Camtasia files have a problem with running inside a .CHM. Even if
    you add all the files.

  • Insert a captivate 7 HTML 5 output in Robohelp 10

I am trying to insert a captivate 7 HTML 5 output in Robohelp 10. I tried the steps specified by adding an adobe captivate demo. I linked it to both the swf file and the index.html file. However I am getting an error, that the index.htm file is not valid. Can you please let me know the solution to this.

    Hi, MeeraPRV
I recreated this error message and think I have the answer. When you used the Browse button to locate the HTML5 output file, I suspect you selected the wrong "index.htm" file.
Instead, you should navigate to the Captivate HTML5 Output folder and select the index.html file in the same folder as the .swf Flash file.
At this point, RoboHelp will create a new "zipped" file of all the Captivate output variations with the extension ".cpz" and place it in the "Baggage Files" folder. You don't have to do anything with that .cpz file. It will be automatically managed for you in the Multiscreen HTML5 SSL generation process.
Also be sure to "tick" the "Use Adobe Captivate HTML5 output" Setting shown below.
Lastly, be sure you apply the latest service update for RoboHelp 10.01 for good measure if you haven't already :-)

  • View a .swf from a Mac

    Hi Community,
This seems like a simple question to me but I can't seem to find an answer in the forums...
If I am using a Mac, how can I view a .swf file? Is a plug-in needed?
Here is the situation...we are creating training for new hires BEFORE the first day in the office. Some of these new hires will be using Macs at home.
This training will be stored on our CMS which does not allow HTML, however, it does allow for .SWF files.
If a new hire tries to access the .swf from a Mac it cannot be displayed.
What suggestions do you (the community) have for this scenario?
    BTW-We are using Cap 5.5.
    Thank you in advance,
    Susan

SWF needs Adobe Flash Player plug-in, which is not supported by Apple devices. So, your can either convert your SWF output to mp4 (plenty of tools available on the net for that) or publish your file as an mp4 output.
Here is a short video demonstrating Publish to mp4 feature in Captivate 5.5.

  • Viewer won't output to NTSC monitor in FCP5.1

    Hello!
I was used to being able to view my clips in the viewer on my ntsc monitor in HD, since upgrading to FCPStudio5.1.1, I can't seem to find an option for this, the manual mentions none, and a search provided no answer related to the viewer. I am able to watch the timeline just fine on my ntsc monitor.
Is this a new change with FCP5?
    Thanks!

I am connected to a Sony mediaconverter via firewire.
It connects to my tv monitor. External video is set to all frames. After refreshing a/v devices, the viewer will now output to the screen when using "gang" setting. If I use sync off, I get current frame its stopped on. Open gives nothing. Is there a way to make gang the default so I don't have to set it for each clip?

  • A single .swf output file?

I import my captivate simulations into my Authorware
programs. This requires a single .SWF output file. I want to be
able to use the skin (border) feature and produce only 1 single
file. Can this be done? Anyone have a work-around...
    Thanks,
    kshasmith

    Hi there kshasmith
So you want to eat all that cake and still have some to take
    with you, eh?
I think you would be able to accomplish this the old
fashioned way. That is, the way we did it in Captivate 1. Notice
that if you DE-select the borders check box, you STILL end up with
the playback controls. They are just plopped on top of the bottom
of the movie. Sooooo, if you click Project > Resize Project...
you can increase the height of the movie to make room for the
    playback controls.
    Steps:
    Click Project > Resize Project...
DE-select the "Maintain Aspect Ratio" check box
Add 35 pixels or so to the value in the Height field
Choose the option to Keep project the same size and fill the
    background with color
Choose the color your skin would have provided
Click the drop-down and position the project in the Top
    Center
    Click the Finish button
This should result in a single .SWF movie that is basically
identical to a skinned Captivate movie using two .SWFs.
Give that a go and see how you fare.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Dymanic viewing of the Output using Transform.

    Hello,
    I am testing out 'Transform','StreamSource','Templates' using 1.5.
I have a test XML document which has an associated XSL
This XSL displays the result of the above XML in HTML.
I am fetching the associated xsl for the above xml and dynamically converting into HTML.
The result of this transformation is stored in an 'ByteArrayOutputStream'.
    My query is:
Is there a way to view the xsl output?
Or can I store the output in some HTML file and view this to see
if this is the correct output?
    Thanks,
// Return the associated XSL for NewOrder.Single.
    Templates order_transformtemplate =  m_templates.getTransformTemplate("Order.Single");
    // Now create a Transformer
    Transformer transformer = order_transformtemplate.newTransformer();
    ByteArrayOutputStream out = new ByteArrayOutputStream();
//Transforms the XML Source to a Result. The 'orderDocument' is the XML document being transformed.
    transformer.transform(new DOMSource(orderDocument), new StreamResult(out));

    All done.
    Works as required.

  • APEX integration with EBS 11i10: view concurrent request output

    Hi All:
    ENV: APEX 4.0
    EBS: 11i10
    DB: 10r2
APEX is installed in the same database as EBS 11i10
    1. I have developed a APEX application that is can be launched from EBS as a form function. Also, the APEX will not ask any credential when user launch it from EBS, since user is already authenticated. Also, APEX will also display FND username, responsibility for user who has login - <<This is already implemented>>
    2. by Default, APEX will display a page, where user can browser and import a csv file into a predefined custom table <<This is already implemented>>
    3. After csv file is imported into cusotm table, user will click "Submit" button to process the data. APEX will submit a concurrent request (eventually, the concurrent program will call Oracle API to process data). A concurrent request is will display on the apex page. << This is WIP and I don't forsee any issue to implement this, since many have done this before>>
    4. User will write down the request id from step 3 and go to another apex page. In this page, user will enter request id and click "View Output", which should retrieve the concurrent output for that request id and display the output in a new browser. I don't want user go back to EBS to view the concurrent output. << This is my question for this thread>>
My question for step 4: is there a seeded EBS API (FND_???) that I can call by passing a request id and API should display the concurrent request output in a browser automatically? Assuming, I will use fnd_global.apps_initialize() API in this page to set EBS env properly.
My question may not be a direct APEX question; however, I hope someone can offer some help to me. I have done numerous research on this and still haven't find this API.
    Thanks!
    Kevin

    Hi Kevin,
I am having an issue implementing the Call from an EBS menu entry to the APEX Page.
I created the menu entry as a SSWA Function that use the apex_launch procedure to call the APEX page but when the user clicks on the option menu, the EBS login page appears.
Can you share with me how can I fix this?
    Thanks

  • Viewing a swf independently

    Hi,
I wasn't able to view my swf file even after installing Flash
Lite and Shockwave Player on Windows XP. But even after installing
the programs, I wasn't even able to find it to open with. After
publishing my fla, I just saved my swf in hopes to view it briefly
on another computer, but wasn't able to. How do I view a .swf file
    independently?
    Thanks

i dont really understand when you said you "saved" your swf.
From flash you can Publish your movie
or Test your movie which results in the SWF being generated
for you in the same directory as your FLA.
There isn't a "Save as...SWF" in Flash. You can Export to SWF
    if that's what you mean.

  • Importing Camtasia SWFs??

I have tested importing a camtasia SWF file into Presenter

  • Camtasia SWF and Robohelp x5 - Please help!

I think the summary says it all. I produce a swf file using
Camtasia (a well known and popular video producer) and when I
include all the video files in the project, nothing shows up after
it's compiled (there are 4 files: an swf video, controller htm
file, config xml file, and html display wrapper file. The strange
thing is that it works fine when I'm in my Robohelp project and
click on the view icon. I see everything there. But when it's
compiled, no video and no controller bar. I have found a hack fix
    for it here:
    http://forums.techsmith.com/archive/index.php/t-1358.html,
but can't even get this code to work. I'm hoping that one of you
might have encountered this problem, or have a solution for me.
Otherwise, I can include just the swf file as a video and include
it as multimedia in the project through the "Robohelp" way, but I
don't get any controller bar. I'm amazed that robohelp x5 is
lacking simple controller bar functionality for multimedia files
(and flash more specifically). That's beyond baffling. In any
event, it would really be nice to find a simple fix for
    this.

Thanks for the welcome to the community.
Adding the files into the baggage folder does nothing. The
problem seems to lie in the xml file not being readable by the
compiled CHM file. I have no doubt that the swf file can be played
and viewed. But for some reason the compiled version does not find
the xml file (even though I confirmed it IS being included in the
CHM compilation). It's a really bizarre situation and makes
absolutely no sense to me, unless the compilation is changing file
names or has some scripts internally that disrupt the path
    locations of these files.
I've verified all the files are in a single location under a
folder in my help project, so there's no reason why they shouldn't
work correctly. I even verified that this setup works before
compiling by clicking the "View" icon at the top of the help
project window and testing the video / controller. All works like a
    charm.
If I were a better programmer, I could probably fix this. But
my programming skills are novice at best.
I also would prefer not keeping any of the files outside the
chm, as that can open up more hassles than it's worth. Especially
when you distribute help files on all kinds of different computer
configurations. I don't have to use the swf format either. I just
need a simple way to include a control bar with the multimedia
included in the Robohelp project. I would think Robohelp would come
with pause, stop, play, rewind, ffwd options. But apparently we're
still in the early 1990's or something?
So is there any alternate solution / video format that will
give me a control bar in a compiled CHM file? Or is that asking for
    a miracle?
PS: I don't have adobe captivate, and my company is not going
to purchase it at this time. As much as I'm trying to push them in
    that direction.
Thanks in advance for all your help. It is greatly
    appreciated.
