Viewing (column) options in iTunes

I have lots of playlists and want to change the columns that I can view so that it's the same view for all playlists.
How do I do that across multiple playlists?
I can't seem to highlight all my playlists (and then go via Options>View Options), so am having to set the preferred view for each individual playlist

Note: my library is kinda old and imported from a previews install.. Maybe I shoul edit the settings file directly?

Unable to view Column listing in iTunes 11.1.5.5

Have just upgraded (after several ignored promptings) to iTunes 11.1.5.5 from version 10. What a mistake. The graphic interface is pretty enough but I have almost 11,500 tracks in iTunes and I just need to list them in a table as in the previous version as this makes managing them; creating playlists, etc. a whole lot easier.
V.11 seems to have dispensed with a lot of the detail I need (genre - just shown, not sorted by; no. of plays, etc.). Clicking on a track and selecting 'Get Info' shows that all the data stored in the ID3 tags is still there but I cannot see how to bring it to the surface so I can see it or how I can order the records in a table.
I have tried selecting the Column Browser option in the View menu but for a reason I can't fathom all the options in that menu are greyed out so I'm stuck with an interface which hasn't been reorganised in a way that suits me and no apparent way of reversing the change. I'm running iTunes on a fairly old desktop PC that is increasingly lacking in processing power and running Vista so I have no idea whether those factors might restrict my options.
Can anyone suggest how I can return the interface to something close to the v.10 appearance ... or point me at a source where I can "upgrade back" to v.10.

You can enable the column browser from the menu bar when in the Songs or other list views.
Apple's official advice on duplicates is here... HT2905 - How to find and remove duplicate items in your iTunes library. It is a manual process and the article fails to explain some of the potential pitfalls, such as lost ratings or playlist membership.
Use Shift > View > Show Exact Duplicate Items to display duplicates as this is normally a more useful selection. You need to manually select all but one of each group to remove. Sorting the list by Date Added may make it easier to select the appropriate tracks, however this works best when performed immediately after the dupes have been created. If you have multiple entries in iTunes connected to the same file on the hard drive then don't send to the recycle bin.
Use my DeDuper script if you're not sure, don't want to do it by hand, or want to preserve ratings, play counts and playlist membership. See this thread for background and please take note of the warning to backup your library before deduping.
(If you don't see the menu bar press ALT to show it temporarily or CTRL+B to keep it displayed)

Just upgraded iTunes 11
view column browser grayed out, cannot get old column view for tracks.

note: i have no music on this machine (its all on my imac at home) except content that i've downloaded from match
is there something i'm missing, nothing googling seems to show up?

That looks like the Albums view, and it does not have columns to add.
If you want to choose columns such as Rating, switch to Songs view. Then go into View > View Options and make your choices.

I cannot view the option to enable itunes match on my iphone 4s, does anyone have a solution for this?

I have an iPhone 4S wi iOS 5.1 installed and I can't view the option to enqble iTunes Match under the Music menu. I have subscribed to the service and it works fine on my iPad. Does anyone have a solution to this? Can anyone enlighten me as to what's going on?

Yes, that's exactly where I was looking, and that option to turn iTunes Match on/off was non-existent, however, I don't know what happened, it just appeared and is working fine.

View Options in iTunes 8

Two customizable view options in iTunes 7 seem to have disappeared from iTunes 8, can anyone help me find them? First of all, those annoying little arrows that take you to the iTunes store. They appear in the list after song title, artist, and album title after whatever song you have selected. There was an option to turn them off in iTunes 7 but I can't find it now. The second one is way more crucial. In the browser up top there are three categories--Genre, Artist, and Album. I don't use Genre at all, and I had it turned off in iTunes 7 so that only Artist and Album appeared, but now I can't figure out how to do that. Is there a way to get rid of the Genre box in the browser too? Thanks for your help.

I"n iTunes 7, there was a preference to disable the links to the iTunes Store -- these are the small arrows that appear when you select a song in your library. In iTunes 8, however, that preference is gone. A bit of digging in the iTunes' binary found the solution, thankfully.
If you'd like to disable the iTunes Store link arrows, quit iTunes, open Terminal, and run this command:
defaults write com.apple.iTunes show-store-arrow-links -bool FALSE
Relaunch iTunes, and voila, no more arrows! To reverse this behavior, you can repeat the above command (quit iTunes first), but replace FALSE with TRUE. (Or, if you prefer, you can completely delete the added preference with defaults delete com.apple.iTunes show-store-arrow-links).
I'm sure this would have been submitted by someone at some point, but the arrows annoyed me enough to go digging for a solution -- and thanks to Kirk McElhearn for his help in finding and testing the fix!"

Is there a way to view a Genre Column in the iTunes Store?

I have some file (That I did not download from iTunes). And their names were all messed up. But I was able to fix them by using the iTunes store and finding names, artist's, and etc. But when it came to Genres I could not find the Genre Column in the iTunes STORE. Just imported a CD of rare folk music that a friend gave me and want to edit the title, album name, etc like I used to.
In iTunes under "View" the column Browser options are greyed out - not available.
Seems that this is the view where editing is possible.
What can I do to bring back column browser?

I recently upgraded to iTunes 12, and I was surprised to find that my column browser was gone. I've searched around, and I've found several articles that say I can activate it using the View > Column Browser option, but I don't have a Column Browser option in my View menu. Any tips on how I can restore my column browser?

Viewing album art in iTunes 11 - a few questions

I have just upgraded to iTunes 11, and I noticed there are a few features missing that used to be very valuable to me in ensuring that my library was correctly organized and tagged.
1. There does not seem to be an option to display the album art of either the "Now Playing" track or the "Currently Selected" track(s) in the sidebar on the lefthand side of the iTunes window.
2. There does not seem to be an option to view my library as a list grouped by albums, with the album art for each respective album to the left of the other columns.
If anyone knows of a way to enable these two features in the new iTunes 11, please tell me, as it is much more tedious to check and replace album art for new music I add to my library now based on the way I have my library set up.
Also, this is a bit off-topic, but I think that to enhance the new "upcoming tracks" menu, iTunes should recognize when people have their libraries set to shuffle by albums, and instead of asking a user to add a track to Up Next, it should ask to play the entire album next. That way, people trying to listen to entire albums at a time can easily choose what album will come on after the current.
One final thing - I think the artist grid view of the previous iTunes should still remain as an option. The new iTunes is bringing iTunes in a good direction, but I think that there are a good amount of features discarded that possibly shouldn't have been. I'm interested to see what future updates bring to the new iTunes.

If you mean cover flow, it's been removed. By selecting "Albums" across the top, this is the new look. The only time that you can change a look is if you have built a playlist, then click the "View" Icon in the top right corner of the playlist. It will give you three options. Cover flow is not one of them.

If you log into your account on your computer's iTunes via the Store > View Account menu option, you should then see a Purchase History section with a 'see all' link to the right of it, click on that and you should then see a list of your account's purchases

If you select all the songs you want to change, Be it one song or an akbum, or an Artist, Or Genre, or playlist. Then Right mouse click and Get Info. You then get a slightly different from normal Get Info box as this is the One for Multiple items.
In there have a look at the tags and see if the one you want to changes is in there. There are a few tabs so if for example you wanted to change the Media Type from Home Movie to Movie go to the Options tab and select Movie and OK and it will change the whole selection.

Hierarchy on HANA Calculation View with Optional Input Parameters Fails

Has anyone succeeded in building a hierarchy on top of a calculation view with optional input parameters, where an input parameter is not filled?
The original requirement came from the wish to create a parent child hierarchy on a calculation view that was copied into the customer space from a HANA Live Financial Statement query view, but I have found the following when creating a simple level hierarchy on a calculation view that consumes one table. The Calculation View has one Input Parameter where the 'mandatory' box is unchecked.
Calculation view reads ECC table FAGLFLEXT
Simple level based hierarchy on fields PRCTR, RACCT and SEGMENT
Input parameter is used as a filter for PRCTR with logic ("EMPTY" = '$$P_PROFITCTR$$' or "PRCTR" = '$$P_PROFITCTR$$')
When I run the view I see the following behaviour in HANA Studio and Analysis for Excel
Before building the hierarchy I could run the view with or without the Input Parameter
After building the hierarchy I can run the view with the Input Parameter filled, but it fails when the Input Parameter is not filled.
Error message is "error: search table error: [2426] missing placeholder; missing value for mandatory parameter P_PROFITCTR"
P_PROFITCTR is not a mandatory parameter, but the selection for the hierarchy view thinks it should be. I don't find any notes around this issue, so I don't think it's version related, however the version I have used for this test is 1.00.70.
It's a shame we can't currently build the hierarchy as the parent child relationship is provided in HANA Live view NewGLFinancialStatementQuery.

We have been facing similar issue. We have even tried to set default value and as optional parameter. View still fails to create hierarchy (we are not using HANA live). As mentioned on page 97 of HANA modelling guide input parameter is mandatory from engine point of view. Hierarchy is generated as column view during the initial activation of calculation view and therefore expect a value by caller.
This seems to be a product error. Some one from HANA development team should explain this issue in detail. I would expect someone like Thomas Jung reply to us.
At the moment, we cant use input parameter for date prompt which gives us calendar popup feature for date selection. Hierarchies just don't work with input parameter. We are missing something.

View Column info not displaying in Columns Tab

Running XP SP2 and SQL Developer 1.5.1 5440
When looking at views that are using tables from another schema. I don't see any of the columns information. I have DBA role
In rel 1.1.2.25 2579 I see them just fine. (Both loaded on machine right now)
Is this a bug or do I have a setting problem?

As a "disclaimer", the points below are based on my usage of SQL Developer and things that bug me about how it works or doesn't work - I know that there are more important things to fix than a number of these.
On to the basics ... and the most basic of the basics for a tool like SQL Developer:
1) Problems with data dictionary queries in navigator or object tabs:
- Triggers not listed in Table tab if trigger owned by different schema to table owner
- Index columns not listed in Table tab if index owned by different schema to table owner
- View columns not listed in View tab if view owned by different schema to current user
- Dependencies not listed in Table/View tab if other object owned by different schema to object owner
- Performance of Table Node (outer join added in 1.5.1)
- there are a lot of other posts about the supplied data dictionary queries not producing the right results and I often find that I am querying the data dictionary directly in a SQL Worksheet for information that should be correct in the navigator/object tabs
Basic things that I expect to work in a tool like SQL Developer (or to work given that they have been included):
1) Popup Describe problems
- schema name is case sensitive, so doesn't find owner.object
- synonym overrides schema name (OWNER.OBJECT will describe local OBJECT synonym instead of OWNER's object)
- position based object name selection includes punctuation
2) Bind variables that work properly in PL/SQL (both Execute Statement and Run Script)
3) Package decomposition in object navigator doesn't report variables or constants of custom types and lists object.column%type constants as "constant"
4) Exporting query results re-executes query to display Export dialog - this presents as SQL Developer freezing after selecting the Export menu option for queries that take a long time for first record to appear
I would use SQL Developer more (or more of SQL Developer) if:
1) More integrated file based development - I still do the bulk of my object creation (largely PL/SQL and views) editing in Wordpad and running via SQL*Plus largely because I get better error reporting.
- display the compile message tab when using the compile button for a file
- show errors doesn't work for views
2) Running Reports hang SQL Developer - I still have my SQL scripts for my common queries, which I can run through SQL Worksheet in a much friendlier fashion (I can cancel them and they don't hang SQL Dev) than I can run reports
Problems that detract from the "polish" of SQL Developer, but don't really have a big impact on usage but discourage me from trying to "convert" non-techie TOAD using colleagues:
1) Multiple TNSNAMES files read - generates multiple entries
2) Export of long string literals causes ORA-972 error
3) "Statement Processed" feedback is extremely sensitive to spaces ("create Statement Processed" where two spaces between the create and view keywords) and assumes simple statements ("create unique Statement Processed" or "create or replace force Statement Processed" as examples)
I think that makes 10 basics to fix (although some as just issues that make the tool look unpolished), however, it does seem as though testing in the following areas could be significantly better:
1) Regression testing - a number of bugs seem to crop up again after being fixed in earlier versions
2) Navigator/object tab queries - especially with multi-schema applications (ie Oracle eBusiness Suite) and just generally objects owned by other schemas
3) Performance with large DBs in terms of object count (ie Oracle eBusiness Suite)
As a final note, it is my impression that SQL Developer development has been unbalanced in focusing too much on including new functionality (which is good) and not enough on getting existing functionality right (which is better).

Why can't I view iOS apps in iTunes anymore?

I recently changed the password for my Apple ID. Since changing the password I have been unable to view my downloaded apps from within iTunes; I don't even have apps as an option on the left side of the screen. There does not appear to be any problems with syncing apps or using them on my iPod Touch. I have tried reinstalling the latest 64-bit version of iTures; that did not fix this problem.
Any ideas on how to view my apps in iTunes again?

In Edit > Preferences is Apps ticked on the General tab ?
