Viewing Daily Show on iPad in Safari

Can't view show clips because of error: Needs ADOBIE FLASH PLAYER. Notice is; Apple does not support Flash Player on iPhone and iPad. Will this soon change? Is there an app that gives support? Is there another way to watch these segments?

Don't count on Apple support for flash. Besides, the ball is in Adobe's court - THEY need to write a viewer for the iPad.
But you can use some other apps with modest to poor success to view flash. (Don't bother doing a search on "Flash" unless you want to spend days reading through all the post.) One such app is Skyfire, which is a browser that sends flash files to a server and has it translated into HTML5 (I think) and sent back to your iPad for viewing. Its success depends on each flash file, some users have success with their flash needs, others don't.

Works with no problem on my MacBook Air. Since it is happening on both browsers on both of your computers, have you considered the possibility that it may be something to do with your router?

Can not view slide show in macworld on safari

I've turned off click to plugin, adblocker plus but still to no avail. Works fine in Opera and Chrome and FF but not Safari.

Have you attempted to look on your computer in itunes to make sure the apple id displays all the content on that specific account that is on the iPad?

Hi Have you got An App from Apps Store for this if not they might need flash to work Apple doesn't support flash. That maybe your problem. Try Photon web browser from apps store that has flash. Cheers Brian

I cannot view "The Daily Show" directly.

I am running Firefox 5. I have another computer that is still running Firefox 3.6, and I am able to see it there. Both computers have the same add-ons including Adblock Plus. Originally, I thought that Adblock Plus was the problem, and I disabled it, but the video still did not run. I ran in Safe Mode, disabling ALL add-ons, and the video STILL did not run. I think the problem is with Firefox 5 itself, since I am able to run "The Daily Show" on my other computer with ALL add-ons, INCLUDING Adblock Plus enabled.

I am using Mail app and nothing happens. The text is OK but not attachment appears. When I expand the header I can read there's an attachment, but the name is not showed. Size of message is too big for a message without files... And the attachment is perfectly attached :-) in my iPad.
If i forward the message from my iPad to my email account, then the file is there, I can view it from my Mac.
It has happened with .docx and .pptx......... pdf are ok.

Yes sorry, I can see that from your question title. Are you in the US? Ifv so movie redownloads should be available, but I believev some studios aren't onboard.
In iTunes, go to the Store home page - on the right in Quick Links is there a Purchased/Purchases section? If so check if you can download the movies from there.
If you can't see them go to expresslane.apple.com and raise a support ticket for iTunes store, asking them to enable download via iTunes.

On my iPad Air , Safari crashes and quits when I view a slideshow on an internet site. Sometimes it doesn't crash but the slideshow is freezes. Any idea why?

Try clearing Safari's cache : Settings > Safari > Clear Cookies And Data (Clear Cache on iOS 4) and also Clear History
If that doesn't work then try closing Safari completely and then re-open it : from the home screen (i.e. not with Safari 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Safari app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
A third option is a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

I can no longer view some video such as the Daily Show

Ever since I have had my MacBook Pro (2years) I've been able to view any video that I wished. Suddenly a few can no longer be viewed, such as Jon Stewart's the Daily Show. Any ideas?

I cannot view any videos with you tube. Neither can I view the videos on the Daily Show (which I get using the Modify Headers plug in) The all worked marvellously only a few days ago. I checked the Java is up to date, I have cleared the cache, restarted and tried again. I can see the videos on googlechrome, I can see the page but the video gets "there was an error, try again later" (you tube) the Daily show just does not finish loading the video part of the screen - but I get the websites. This is recent. what happened? how do I get it back?

Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.

"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:

This may be caused by a recent Flash 11.3 update.

Before you panic, try resetting your iPhone by simultaneously pressing and holding the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons until you see the Apple Logo. This can take up to 15 seconds so be patient and don't release the buttons until the logo appears.
Try again to see if the problem persists.

Content viewer only shows portrait view on iPad

I'm building an app for the first time using dps. I have managed to get a folio to view on my ipad. It's dual orientation, and if I I preview on my desktop, I can switch between both landscape and portrait view but but when I view it on an ipad, and rotate the device, it remains in Portrait view, have I missed something?

When you created your folio in Folio Builder did you choose the dual orientation option?
How did you create your articles, one horizontal and one vertical or using the alternate layout method?
If you did two articles, did you name your articles _h and _v respectively?

IPad 2 Safari javascript window.open bug

I am building a web app that uses the PicUp app to upload photos.
Part of how it works requires me to open a new tab with javascript, which fires some script to open a new url in an iframe on the previous page.
I have named the 'windows' accordingly, and it works properly on the iPad 1 (Safari).
But in iPad 2, the window.open function does not seem to take in a target window parameter, resulting in broken UI. The new tab opens, but the script to open a new URL in the other page's iframe does not work.
My image still uploads, but the user would be confused, as there is no confirmation screen.
Help!
PS: I would also like to comment that it is fairly convoluted to have to download a 3rd party app just to handle http uploads, something every other browser can do natively. What is the reasoning behind not allowing iOS Safari to upload like normal?

Was able to produce a small test case.
To demonstrate this problem, there are three pages. You will need to load window1.html. That page has buttons to load the other windows. Make sure all files are in the same directory.

Test scenario:
If you run window1.html, you will see it is updating the text field with the time and displaying the current hash. If you press the button 'Start second window (no close)', you will see another tab open up and stay there and the window1 text field will display the hash 'from2'.
You can close the window2 tab if you want now (don't think it matters).
If you then press the button 'Start third window (with close), the window1 tab is gone and window3 is still up there. The title bar says it is window3 but it is not even displaying 'This is window3.html' If I do a view source (using a javascript bookmark), it does show the window3 script but the <p> and text is not there. Probably died in the script before parsing was finished. This is the first problem.
Now load the window1.html again in the browser (type on URL line). If you press the 'Start second window (no close)", the one that worked before, and click on the window1 tab to view it and display the updating text box, you will see it did not see the hash change. This looks like that physical tab was corrupted in Safari from the window 3 test. I just found if you open a new tab, the new tab will be ok to run the second window (no close test). At least until you run window3 (with the close).

Please help me open an iMovie trailer, moved to my iPad from my PC. I can view it on my iPad but am unable to import it into the app to edit it.

I created a trailer on an iPad at a workshop to use in my classroom. I retrieved it from my PC and can view it on my iPad mini, but the iMovie app won't open it. I need to edit it. I never said that a PP file moved to your ipad cannot be straight edited in keynote. Nor did I say that you needed a third party solution...
My response was to offer an option (Jump) because like many others, you're having problems.
Check out the app store and user Keynote reviews. There are more (by 1) 1 star ratings than 5 star ratings for the current version. There are 72 ratings of 3 or more stars while there are 78 ratings of one or two stars. In terms of statistical significance, the numbers are pretty equal, but I prefer to deal with an app that shows more top stars and fewer bottom stars. Some posters have been on here with your same question, so I'm thinking maybe, just perhaps, Keynote is not perfect.
Pro tech reviews vary, many given at the time it was released. Many do not point out that they actually used Keynote before the review. Google Keynote for more pro tech reviews where reviewers have actually used the app.

The Daily Show Multi-Pass: how does this work?

I subscribed to the Daily Show Multi-Pass. The store said it was busy and try again later. So I thought I'd do it later but meanwhile got an email saying I had the multi-pass and 9.99 has been deducted from my account!
The email has a link to view account preferences. It says that 2 of the 16 episodes have been downloaded - nothing has been downloaded (and only one show is currently available).
According to the email: "You will receive an email when future episodes of The Daily Show are available and the episodes will be downloaded automatically to the account listed above the next time you sign in to iTunes." What? When is that?
It would be great if this worked with RSS like podcasts instead of some mysterious download time.
Is this working for anyone?

Okay here's what you have to do: Go to the Music
Store, and click the button with your e-mail address
at the top right (below "browse"). Then click "Sign
out" in the popup. Then click where your e-mail
address used to be to sign in again. Your episode
will start downloading.
This is a stupid way for Apple to do it, but at least
it technically works so until they make it easier
this is what we're going to have to do every day.
Argh!
Hmmm...when I did the above, it ran through the "Checking for purchases" before starting the download. So I wonder if doing the "Check for purchases..." selection under the Advanced menu would do the same thing without the hassle of logging out and in. I'll give it a try tomorrow...
