  • Is there a web based (or iDisk) iTunes for allowing viewing of video files?

Is there a web based (or iDisk) iTunes type of program for allowing viewing of video files?
I would love to have this possibility to just drop all myhundreds of "musical ideas" movies in a folder/playlist like iTunes interface and have them available for viewing web based for musical co-writers & collaborators.
    Thanks

    Hi,
iTunes doesn't do Internet broadcast. I suggest you use iMovie to compress your files into and Internet file format. You can then use mobile me or YouTube to show your material over the Internet.
If you want to maintain more control over the material, you may want to set up a computer to become a server. That way you can give access codes only to persons you want to see the material.
I would look into mobile me if I was you. It sounds like you only need a small Internet presence to do what you want to do. And I think MobileMe would give you all the tools you need to distribute your material to those you want to see it. And it would do it at a very low cost.
    Good luck,

  • Cannot quick view 60fps video file

After upgrading to Yosemite, I realize when I use quick view (space bar) to watch some of my video files in 60fps, it's showing it 30fps instead. When I play the files using quicktime or quick view with full screen, then the video will play in 60fps. I am not very comfortable with this new setting, because I do video editing and I need to look at many video files by using quick view function, and with only showing 30fps just very annoying for me. Any solution?

    post more code
what resolution are you saving as?
what type of compression are you using?
it sounds to me like you're simply losing data based on compression and/or scaling

  • Finder hangs on "thumbnail view of video files, relaunches itself

Within the past week I upgraded from 10.4.11 -> 10.6.5 on a 3-year old MBP (Intel). Sometimes when viewing Finder windows with video files everything hangs and I am treated to my favorite sight, the cheerful spinning beanie..... Sometimes when it hangs, Finder relaunches itself taking about 10 seconds to do so. This is mostly a hiccup, since Snow Leopard Finder restores the individual windows with their directory paths. (This happens several times a day, and would be really annoying if relaunch meant resetting everything to User directory level like it did in earlier OS versions.)
Possibly related is on occasional black screen "blink" lasting not more than 2 seconds. This is unsettling.
Related question - does Finder use QuickTime, or some limited implementation of QuickTime, as a resource to display thumbnail video? Could this be a symptom of the utility trying to do too good a job showing video thumbnails (consequently sucking up too many processing resources), which I often don't want to look at anyway?

    Update on this issue -
No serious problems except one time the screen went black and wouldn't come back (usually no action is required before the screen refreshes itself.) Lately, I've seen it go black about every 2-3 days with no major interruptions in operation. The obvious question is this: Does this indicate a bigger problem, perhaps with hardware, which will make my computer crash for good in the near future?

  • Why does the adobe flash plugin crash whenever I try to view a video file?

When attempting to view video files, except youtube, the Adobe Flash plugin always (this is consistent) crashes. I have sent numerous crash reports. I have since the problem first occurred updated firefox at least twice and Adobe Flash has been updated the same number of times. I have not always had this problem, but now it is recurring. Note: the plugin does not crash if I use IE.

    hi WDWPhishFan,
Have you looked at [[The Adobe Flash plugin has crashed]] and [[Opening PDF files within Firefox]]?
The first article has a lot of good troubleshooting steps that might help. The second article actual lists a couple of plugins that can be used for opening PDF files. I'd give both of them a try just in case.
    Hopefully this helps!

  • Problem viewing some video files

I get this problem only with some video files, not all. They are all .mov files so it's hard to tell what is causing it. What it looks like is that the video and sound plays but the video is "barred out" with thick white stripes so it looks like three is only 1 pixel size width of video showing through. almost like this:
    "menu bar here"
Just pretend with the dotted lines, you can see the video in it's place. I tried reinstalling quicktime but it does not work. Any ideas

It seems I have two networks available at work, one is behind our firewall, and I login to it. This is the network that I can't view streaming video. There is also a "Guest" network that I don't need to login to. This one works with the YouTube and the news site videos.
Thus, I conclude there is a setting that WiFi network administrators can invoke that specifically can block streaming video on some protocols (whatever the ipod touch uses) and not others (whatever the Macbook uses). But the same router hardware supplying the Guest network does not block these protocols. Presumably this has to do with security on one side of the firewall(?)
Anyway, apparently outside of the WiFi controls available in the ipod touch settings.
    Weird...

  • How to view .bup video files?

My parish priest sent me five video files that have a file name that end in .bup - for example: VTS_01_0 file type .bup
Is it possible for me to view these?
    Thank you.

You really need the VOB files to view or edit the DVD video.

  • Can't view quicktime video files, I think I need a missing codec

I am trying to view some video that is incoded as HDV 1080i60. I don't think that quicktime has this codec pre installed. It is a quicktime file. It was created on a Mac that has Final Cut Pro. It is not a Final Cut Pro File in anyway. I think it plays fine on that mac because it has Final Cut Pro and that codec from the program. The question is can I get the HDV 1080i60 codec somewhere? Does it come in quicktime pro? Can I buy it?

    No.
It's part of the FCP suite and is intended to be used as an editing codec (not for playback).

  • How can I view .avi video files?

Neither Quicktime nor Flip4Mac plays .avi movie/video files. I dislike Quicktime for that main reason, lack of compatibility with various video formats.
I tried using FlipPlayer which I think is the same as flip4mac and same thing. it plays but displays nothing, no audio.
What can I use or do to view my .avi files ?
Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks.

Try VLC media player seems to play anything.

EDIT DivX will play avi, not sure about VLC not listed as supported.

  • Viewing .mpg video files in browser?

I am hoping one of you awesome Macsters can help me to regain a feature that was recently lost whereby I could single click on a .mpg file on a website and Safari would open up a new window then begin playing the file. I recently had to perform an archive and install of my OSX and as a result Safari no longer plays .mpg files from within the browser as it used to. Instead, Safari now downloads the file to my HD then uses another app(I use MPlayer) to open the video file. How can I enable Safari to once again play .mpg files from within the browser like it used to??? Is there a specific plugin that is responsible for this feature that I need to reinstall??? I have the plugins for WindowsMediaViewer, RealPlayer and ShockWave Player installed and they seem to work fine. I am a bit behind the times in that I am runnning OSX 10.2.8 snd using Safari 1.0.3 Until I have the opportunity to upgrade can anyone help??? Peace out . . .

Tell the QuickTime plug-in to play the file inside a browser window.
Open System Preferences/QuickTime and click the Advanced tab. Click the MIME Settings button and then put a check mark in MPEG media.
Quit and relaunch your browser for these changes to take effect.

  • Viewing Targa video files

    Hi everyone,
The other week we were going through our old files here in our office & discovered a large number of video files that were done with the old Truevision Targa board. We no longer have the computer or the Targa board and Pinnacle was of no help. What I would like is a software codec that would allow me to run these files on Final Cut Pro. Any suggestions? Thanks!

  • How to view original video files from my Canon Vixia

    Hi -
I have a Canon Vixia camcorder and I cannot find a way to view the original mts files on my iMac.  I hate to say this, but my old windows laptop to does this without any issue, so that's what I'll continue to do until something changes.
When I mount the camera on my Mac, it only shows one giant AVCHD file.  I have read the posts about using iMovie to import the AVCHD file and then export the individual clips, but frankly that ***** for a few different reasons that I don't really feel the need to explain.
Why does Mac not allow me to simply view the files as they are on the camera?  I don't edit with iMovie, I edit with Premiere and the original mts files are just fine with me.  I love my iMac and all my other Apple products, but let me view my files! ...please?
    Thanks
    Joey

AVCHD utilizes a proprietary container format. The MTS files are in there, you just have to know where to look.
Navigate to the root directory of the memory card. You should see a rather large (depending on how many clips are on there) file called PRIVATE. You need to right-click that and select "Show Package Contents". Inside, find the file AVCHD, right-click it and select "Show Package Contents". Inside, find the file BDMV, right-click it and select "Show Package Contents". Inside, find the folder STREAM and open it. You should find the MTS files there.

  • Unable to view video files in browser :[

Does anyone know why Safari is unable to view video files in the browser ??? I used to be able to view .mpg video files right in the browser and when viewing .wmv files Safari would open up Windows Media Player which would then play the file. I really dug that feature. Now when clicking on a .mpg video file, Safari simply downloads the file to my HD and that's it. Is there an easy fix for this issue ??? Hello !!! Anybody ???
