Viewing downloaded videos

I just bought my first apple computer. I am trying to view a video clip but i am unable to do so. It instructs me to download windows media player 9 for mac and when i do, i cannot open it and install it. It asks me to choose an application to open it with but i don't know how to. My question is, how do i view video clips that are downloaded off the internet?

Hi swiky,
WMP works just fine on the MBP. The problem is that you need to install Stuffit Expander to open the WMP file. Here is the link to Stuffit. It's a universal binary version too...

What the **** is Rosetta? Can you provide some simple instructions, please? Why does Apple make things so difficult? I'm also trying to SIMPLY browse to a shared printer on a Windows XP box (HP LaserJet 1020) and can't install this. Even with what research told me by installing HP's 1022 Mac driver. I don't care what anyone says...Microsoft makes things easy to use and my 3.2 HT SATA 1GB DDR2 computer beats this iMAC hands down when it comes to speed.
    Thanks...Steve.

  • Why can't I view downloaded video?

I have downloaded a video but am unable to view it.  I only see the play button at the bottom of the screen against a background of darkness.

the latest version  11.1.83, I think..
I decided to uninstall itunes, restarted the cpu, then reinstalled itunes by downloading from www.itunes.com.
Unfortunately, my previously downloaded movie was still in the Unwatched list.
Got a dark screen again.  I also tried to play a previously downloaded movie and I got a popup from Windows saying that there was a problem with itunes and that Windows would close the program and let me know if there was a solution.
I repeated the process of uninstalling and reinstalling itunes again.  Same result.
    thanks...

  • Buffer Overrun when trying to view downloaded Videos

I've recently downloaded a video from iTunes. When trying to play via iTunes, it crashes after a moment, giving no error but a windows error of "iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close"
I have tried opening this file through QuickTime and I get this error:
"A buffer overrun has been detected which has corrupted eternal state. The program cannot safely continue exacution and must now be terminated"
    I have:
    1. Uninstalled/Reinstalled both iTunes/Quicktime
    2. Updated Motherboard chipset drivers
    3. Cleaned out all references to both Quicktime and iTunes
    4. Cleaned out all Registry entries involving quicktime.
Since all these were "fixes" to this question before, I thought maybe there was one I was missing.
    Any help please? Thanks

Seriously, the itunes support is for the birds....go over on the QuickTime support discussions and repeat that post, is my advice.

I have Quicktime 7.0.4 installed on my new PC with a Intel 640 processor on a ASUS P5LD2-Deluxe.
If I want to watch a video from apple.com/trailers
often but not always the "buffer overrun" error appears.
Everytime I can hear a quiet cracking in the sound
if I play back the video while QT is loading the rest of the video.
The cracking sound always disappers when the load-process had come to its end.
So I´ve updated all updatable, of course the Realtek HD-Audio-Driver (on the Intel HD-Audio-Bus), too !
This made it worse than before.
Now it can happen that the video stops in the middle because of the buffer overrun.
ALL OTHER applications are working fine.
For example I can hear music or reports with winamp while downloading big files without any disturbing sound and ugly error-messages.
I think now the Apple developers are asked !

  • Problems viewing downloaded videos since Leopard upgrade

I too have a similar problem with purchased video clips. They were OK at first but now I only get the grey screen. It seemed to happen after installing a demo of Snapz pro. I have since uninstalled Snapz Pro but I still only get the grey screen. Non iTunes videos are fine. Please help. mollsun

  • Can't download newest iTunes hence unable to view/download videos

I've had my iPod since last May. Worked great until the newest version of iTunes came out. Tried to download and install it, but always got an error message indicating that the older version of Quicktime could not be uninstalled; installation of iTunes is then aborted. I've tried downloading several times, uninstalling Quicktime seperately and reinstalling iTunes from the software CD that came with the iPod. I've thought about completely uninstalling iTunes, but I'm worried about losing purchased files.
I have a PC running on Windows XP.
Any help is greatly appreciated. THANKS!!

Perhaps just a reinstall will do the trick. I've had troubles like that as well (programs not uninstalling fully or not at all) and I have taken care of it by reinstalling over the top of the existing install. I have taken care of that in a different way, but it is too involved and requires a LOT of registry deleting. I wouldn't even want to try to talk someone through that, it's too easy to REALLY mess up your system.
By the way, the problem with not being able to uninstall QT kind of indicates to me that that could be the source of your original problem. Once you get it fully installed, your problem could be solved.

Your MacBook Air is an Intel-based system. To download the current version (11.2.202.228),  go to http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ and download it from there.
If there is still a Flash issue, you can try the Google Chrome browser, which has the current Flash built into it, to see if it works any differently with the videos. It's available from https://www.google.com/chrome

  • Tried downloading new version 5.0.1 to mac running 10.4.11 to be able to download silverlight to view a video on fidelity site. failed and old version 3.5 something is gone too. everything's gone. No chance of getting bookmarks back?

Fidelity site said I needed latest Real Player or Silverlight to view a video on my mac (10.4.11). Recommended I click "test your System" button. Did so and recoomended silverlight specifically, but my browser (using safari at the time) was incompatible so needed to download latest version of Mozilla firefox to proceed. Clicked that button and a firefox page opens with dozens of 5.0.1 versions of firefox in various languages. Find U.S. english and click. Message says I have older version (3.5.or.6 something) and do I want to replace with new version. Clicked yes and download begins of disk image. Completes and window opens with firefox icon with bar over it and system apps folder with arrow to move

    Update.
I opened the iMac and swapped out the HD for one of the HDs that wasn't appearing in the Firewire cases. The HD according to Disk Warrior and Tech Tools Pro 4.5 is just fine. While this is great news, I can't figure out how 2 LaCie cases died at the same time. And a third case bought at Fry's doesn't seem to work either.
The FW ports on the iMac seem fine as my M-Audio FW works in either port.
Oh, I'm back running under 10.4.10 and the versions of the OS on DW3 and TTP4.5 are all less than 10.4.10.
I'm not going to 10.4.11 - I've learned to stick with what works and don't need to be so progressive on updates.

  • I have downloaded video in MP4 from my GoPro camera, but I cannot open and view the video.  Help please.

I have downloaded video from my GoPro helmet camera to my iPad 1 photos, but i cannot open and view the MP4 file.  Please help.

Yeah, just as said above, you need to convert it to iPad supported video formats first and then sync it back to the iPad.
Chek the iPad Supported Video and Audio Formats first.

Is there a way to view Flash videos on my iMac without downloading Adobe Flash Player? I'm concerned about performance and security with Adobe Flash Player.

If the video is only available in a format that requires Flash player : then no.
However, a great many can also be viewed in an HTML5 version, in which case http://hoyois.github.io/safariextensions/clicktoplugin/ or similar can be set up so that Flash never runs unless you specifically choose it to.

  • Flash Player 10.1when using to view web video streams ,can i download at same time

Flash player is often the player used when viewing Web Video Streams. As with Real Player is it possible to download at the same time?

Yes on the restart or reboot.
Add ons Shockwave Flash Object and Shockwave ActiveX Control both enabled.
Add or Remove Programs list Adobe Air, Adobe Flash Player 10 ActiveX, Adobe Reader X and Adobe Shockwave Player 11.5.
You were saying that the " version numbers must match"?  Please clarify.  It appears I have non matching versions...is that correct?
I thank you for your time, it is greatly appreciated!
