Viewing ebook on another computer

I bought an ebook on my laptop and now want to see it on my desktop.  How do I pull it up?

By the way, another option is use iTunes, also available for Windows, which has specifically designed support for sharing libraries on local networks.
You would need to convert MKV movies for import into iTunes using one of the converters (See here), however you might end up with smoother playback. And iTunes provides helpful ways of organizing your media.

  • EBooks on another computer to my new Mac

    Hi everyone
I am very new to digital editions and not very savvy!  I bought some ebooks on my work computer at the end of last year (in the UK).  I no longer work at that company and when I left, I copied my ebooks across to my new Mac (which is now in Australia).  I have downloaded Digitial Editions onto my Mac, and when I try and add my ebooks it says "document is licensed for a different account" and I can't read them.  What do I have to do to access these books?  I am desperately hoping that I haven't "lost them" otherwise it is a complete waste of money!
    Any help?
    thanks

*I forgot to say that I don't think I authorised the downloads to my last computer.  I have to be honest - I downloaded the books from a Waterstones Bookstore and it just downloaded it for me.  I don't remember doing anything special!

Click here and follow the instructions, or move the content from the old computer.

  • Can't transfer e-book to another computer

I'm using Windows Vista, Adobe Digital Editions v 1.5, I purchased an ebook online, and I'm trying to transfer the ebook to another computer for printing. I followed all the instructions online for transferring ebooks, and logged onto the other computer's ADE with the same account, but I keep getting the error "Document is not Licensed for this Device Type".
We've already called the customer service and they didn't provide any help.
Can anyone help please? Thank you very much in advance.

I am having a related problem. My laptop with 100 purchsed ebooks on it died.  I bought a new laptop, copied all my files from backups, downloaded Adobe Digital which would NOT recognize my email/password and therefor will not open the library.
The most important part of the library is professional texts that I need access to.
Although this must be a daily occurrence Adobe have not been able to help (shall I say.. "yet").  I tried to redownload the books from the purchase site but they also will not open.. and with all the hassle I have now exceeded download limits.
This seems the most simple of problems but I have been two weeks without the documents.
The terms of use from the download site required me to use Adobe, they charged full price for the ebooks and the books are now not usable.

  • Can I open a E-book, which is linked with Adobe Digital Editions On another computer of Mine?

I Have an Ebook, Which can be opened only by using Adobe Digital Editons,
Thus, i downloaded the adobe digital Editons, and authorised it without Adobe id and Passdode..
But now, i found out that i cant open the file in another computer of mine...Is there a possibility for me to open the ebook in another computer of mine
Any Help is appericiated...Thanks in advance :

You must authorize the second computer with the same Adobe ID.
There are sometimes issues with this registration: if you have them ....
Sometimes ADE gets its registration/activation confused and in a semi-authorized state.
Uninstalling and reinstalling does not help.
Unfortunately, it often then gives misleading error messages about what is wrong.
A common incorrect message informs you that the ID is already in use on another computer and cannot be reused.
This can often be resolved by completely removing any authorization using ctrl-shift-D to the Library screen on ADE (cmd-shift-D if on Mac).
Restart ADE, and then reauthorize with your (old) Adobe ID.

  • HT201412 I am reading an e-book and the screen has become blurred to the point that you cannot even see the letter. I checked the e-book in another computer and can be seen without problems. What's worst, when this happens all the web sites have the same

I am reading an e-book and the screen has become blurred to the point I cannot see the letters. Other pages are patched grey. I checked the ebook in another computer and it shows no problem. Also, when this happens, other web sites get blurred or patched. Do you know what can it be?

You can try giving it a reset. Hold down the sleep and home keys for about 20 seconds. When you see the silver apple, let go and let it reboot. See if that helps.
But if it doens't or if hte issue repeats you may want to make an appointment at your local apple store and have them check it out.

  • I want to move ebooks from one computer to another.

I want to move ebooks from one computer to another.  Both have Digital Editions installed.  Older one 2.0 ver has books installed.  Newer one has ver 3.0 no books installed.  Both are authorized with the same user id.  Do I have to upload from older machine to cloud first?  How do I do that?  Do I have to manually transfer files?  How do I do that?  Can I get pointed to online directions someplace?

Figured it out.  Copy files to new computer and add to library from digital additions.  duh.  Why was it some much easier to figure out answer once I posted the question?

  • Viewing iPod photos on another computer?

    Hello -
I've scoured this discussion forum, but can not seem to find an answer to my question.
I am visiting my parents who have a 20 inch iMac. Is it possible for us to view the photos stored on my "iPod Photo" using this computer? The tiny screen on my iPod is too hard to see.
    Thanks -

    Hi Doogles
If you have the AV cable for the ipod, then the easiest thing to do is connect it up to a TV and enable a slide show on the iPod. I have found this works well although it uses a fair bit of power if you have a lot of photos to show.
    However,
In direct answer to your question (I am assuming you have the latest version of iTunes although you can do the same with earlier versions, the instructions would be slightly different) the following is what to do:
Connect your iPod and open iTunes (may open automatically)
Select your iPod in the source menu.
    You get the summary page.
    Select "enable disk use"
Click ok (remember that you will have to manually eject) then click apply in the bottom right.
Then slect the photo tab in iTunes.
You will see a box at the bottom of the photo tab which says "include full res photos"
    Check this
    Click apply
Let it copy the full res photos across.
    Eject your iPod
Now you can simply plug your ipod into the iMac via FW/usb. On doing so you will get an iPod icon on the desktop (itunes may also open and give a message saying that it is linkt to another computer do you want ot change this. Simply click no/cancel and close iTunes) as you would with a portable drive. Open this, locate the folder and bingo!
You can then just copy the folder into iPhoto on the iMac as IMHO this is much better for viewing photos than using preview.
Post back if you have any problems

  • How to view aperture library from another computer on network?

    Hi,
I'd like to simply view (not edit) my aperture library from another computer on my home network. The aperture library resides on a mac pro, and I'd like to see the images on a macbook pro to show family members. On the surface, this seems like a simple concept - as Apple TV can do this with home sharing. Further, itunes can share it's library in this manner.  Is this possible?
    thank you,
    T

You don't mention which OS you're using and I understand that Lion has changed some of the sharing features but  what you are looking to do is doable.
Be warned that accessing an Aperture library over a network is slow and definitely not something you want to do if editing except in an emergency and you want to make triple sure that only one user is accessing the library at a time.  But I regularly access libraries over wireless when I'm to lazy to walk across the house and need to check somthing out.
If you are using Snow Leopard go into System preferences->Sharing and tune on file sharing on the the Mac Pro. If you have the same user name on both systems you should have no problem accessing the library from the MBP.
If you're on Lion, you'l need to lok up how to enable file sharing. I haven't swithced so I can;r help you there.
    good luck

  • How do i view websites visited parental controls on another computer

I set up parental controls on the computer and it said I was able to view what the child was looking at by another computer and I'm not sure how to do that.

You can't open them with iPhoto but you can view and restore individual photos in the backups.  See the gray box towards the end of Time Machine - Frequently Asked Question #15.

  • My hard drive that is sync to my ipad crashed! Good thing is all my photos were transferred to my ipad for viewing - now my quesiton is how do I back up my ipad on another computer without losing my pictures? can I back up my ipad on a external hard drive

My hard drive on my computer crashed!  This is the computer my ipad was sync with! All my photos of my three girls are on the ipad, but how do I get them transferred to either an external hard drive or to another computer - or just have them all printed - nearly 1000 photos!
Also, can I back up my ipad with an external hard drive?  If I try to sync to a new computer it will erase everything I currently have on the ipad , correct?
Thanks for your help - I am worried if I don't do something quick, my ipad will crash too!

Right.  You didn't read the post, you only read the title.
The title came from an earlier step in the process when I was posing a question to the systen.
The pertinent part of the question is "How to I back up documents that are stored in iCloud"
That the destination for the backup is NOT my internal HDD should be clear from the rest of the post.
And frankly, even if that is where I want to back up to, that would at least give me two copies, at least giving me one duplicate of the stuff on iCloud.
So please stop wasting my time if you can't answer the actual question: How do I backup content that is stored in iCloud.  The destination of the backup is irrelevant.

  • Can't authorize another computer with the same account ?

    Hello,
I have 2 computers, one older than the other.
    - on the older, I have the old version of ADE w/ lots of ebooks on it. I had it authorized (created an account etc...).
    - on the new one, I have recently downloaded the new version of ADE, without authorizing it at first.
I wanted to transfer my ebboks from the older computer to the new one. It appeared I couldn't because the books were unauthorized or something like that. So I tried to get the authorization for the new computer, and the new version of ADE. The message when I try to fill in my usual ID/Password is "You can authorize this computer only if you do not use an ID that has already been comitted to an another computer or mobile device. Please Try again" (excuse me if its not exactly what you know : I'm french, and I tried to translate the message).
I have been reading the Q&A on the subject, and none of the questions mention this type of message. I am actually trying to get rid of one of my two computer. Of course I need to authorize w/ the same account. It can't be that you are bound by one computer or device ...
I do not use any device now : my old one is broken, so I read on my comptuer.
Please, can someone give me advice ?
May be I can get my old ebooks by another method ?
Thank you so much for your help

Almost certainly you have hit an incorrect error message from ADE.  Usually ADE gives meaningless error messages, but just to keep the user on his/her toes it sometimes likes to give meaningful but incorrect error messages.
Try deauthorizing your new ADE using ctrl-shift-D (cmd-shift-D if on a Mac).
Restart and then try again to enter your usual ID/Password.

  • How to open PDF ebooks on a computer

I bought $350 worth of ebooks from ebooks.com so I could read them on my bebook (mybebook.com) and the files don't open on my bebook, so I tried to open them on my computer so I could convert them to another format, but my computer can't open the files. This is what happens:
    1) A window comes up that says: This document can't be opened because it's ownership hasn't been established on this computer. But I bought the books on this computer! There are two choices that I can click: 1) I own it and copied it to this computer or restored it from a backup and 2) Someone else gave it to me and I would like to own it. I click number one and then click on a button that says "establish ownership".
    2) Then another window comes up that says: You will now be taken to the adobe DRM activator website where you will get instructions on how to reactivate your Acrobat or Adobe reader to allow for sharing and restoring of documents. You must be connected to the internet for this. If not, cancel and try again later.
    3) So I click OK and am taken to an Adobe page that says:
Here's the problem and how to solve it:
You have tried to open an Digital Edition that was downloaded to another computer. You can open such a document on two computers only when you have activated Adobe Reader or Acrobat on both computers using the same Microsoft .NET Passport or Adobe ID.
Problem: This computer and the computer to which the document was downloaded were activated using different .NET Passports or Adobe IDs.
Solution: Return to the retailer, library, or other location where you acquired the document and obtain permission to open it on this computer.
I wrote ebooks.com and told them what was going on also, but I don't know if they will be able to help me because I downloaded the books to this computer.
Does anyone know what I can do to be able to open these PDF files?
    Thanks,
    Kyle Pounds

What is your operating system?  Reader version?
Can you open such a PDF in a text editor, then copy and paste the first few lines here in the forum?

I'm just trying to print my online pay stub
Since my printer isn't working, I'd like to save document to my desktop ("save as" is the only option given to me) and send it as an attachment to a friend's computer and working printer.
    What browser are you using?
Are you trying to print or to save the doc? Whether you have a working printer or not is really immaterial. If you're trying to print, then File > Print > PDF > Save as PDF…. If the resulting PDF is small enough (<5MB, though my preference is <1MB), e-mail it to your pal. If it's too big, transfer it using a chat programme or a file service (MediaFire, RapidShare, etc).
Now, I am currently trying to send the document directly (via email, an option given under "file") the pay stub from my employer (who uses ADP online payroll services), to that computer and working printer ....and I'm receiving a window (with apple mail logo on it) that begins with  "To view this page, you must log in to this area on agateway.adp.com:443:"  and asks for "name" and "password".  I've put in both ADP's information, and what I believe (could be very wrong) to be apple mail's information, and either/neither/nothing seems to work!
I don't understand any of this. You need to explain better—or perhaps just post a screen shot (blank any private or confidential info on it prior to posting).

  • Do image files adjusted in Lightroom transfer to another computer if you need to reload the files?

I'm used to making adjustments in Camera RAW and copying the image files for use on multiple workstations.  In this case, my adjustments go with the image file.  If I make my adjustments using Lightroom and move the image files to another computer will I lose those adjustments?  I wonder if I invest all my adjustment time using Lightroom and my computer crashes will I lose those adjustments even though I am backing up my files to an external drive.

You wrote: " If I make my adjustments using Lightroom and move the image files to another computer will I lose those adjustments?"
Yes, you will loose them unless you save to xmp. You save to xmp by either pressing Ctrl / Cmd + letter "S"  or
    a) in the Library Module you go >Metadata >Save Metadata to File, or
    b) in the Develop Module you go >Photo >Save metadata to file.
Without <Saving metadata to file> Lr writes the edits into the catalog only. And, if you transfer images without the catalog to another computer your edits will be lost on the second computer.
By <Saving metadata to file> a xmp sidecar file will be created that stores the edits. In case of a DNG the edits are not written into Xmp but into the file header - same effect.
Note though that not everything can be stored in xmp-files. For instance collections, stacking are stored in the catalog only.
This is presumably so because the save to xmp was created in order that Lr adjustment can be viewed in other Adobe products (for instance in Bridge). Naturally, only those "features" need to be written into xmp that the other program can display.

  • Sharing an edited video on another computer

I am editing video to be used in a PowerPoint presentation. The video needs to be saved in a format that will be viewable on any random cumputer that I load up the ppt file. The problem is that when I export and save the videos I can only view them on this computer. When I open the ppt on another computer the video will not play.
How can I save videos with decent quality that can be viewed on other computers (Mac and PC)? Sorry for the dumb question.

    VandyZane,
This is assuming you had the movie encoded in H.264 when you finalized in iMovie. On the PC, you have 2 ways to install the codec. One through Quicktime which you did. The other way is to install a standalone codec (which is H.264). Most PCs would probably have this codec installed as it is one of the most popular used codec to watch downloaded movies. The reason why powerpoint is nothing seeing your movie is because you haven't wrapped it yet into a Windows video file. The program I mentioned changes MP4 to AVI, or with an *.AVI extension. Most PC programs assumes the AVI file as video and use the WMP as the default player.
Why don't you try converting one and then see if WMP plays it. Then insert it into the ppt file and see if it plays properly. If it does, then make sure the corresponding presentation PC has the correct codec installed.
The H.264 vFw codec is also available from the same place I linked you to -- sourceforge.net.
