Viewing Events in a List Format

Trying to Organize on Iphoto over 15k Photos that were previously very organized on my PC. On the PC I had my photos in what would be considered folders/albums on I photos. I did the import from my external harddrive and ended up with a lot of random events - many in order many not. Guess I'm used to viewing photos differently and the view in events is not cutting it at all.
Is there a way to view events in a list format - similar to explorer on the PC. What have you found as the best way to organize photos coming from a PC? I had mine by year - example 2009/ then named for each month - 1Jan09NewYears, 2Feb09Valentine's Day etc. on the PC.
I know this is really a personal choice - just looking for ideas and a WAY to View Events in a LIST Format.
Thanks

No. iPhoto is about the Photos not the Filenames.

You can find all the photos from a specific date very easily:
a: Click on the Magnifying Glass in the Search Box at the bottom of the iPhoto Window. Select Date. Now you can find all the pics from any Year, Month or Day, just by selecting that Year, Month or Day
b: Use a Smart Album: (File -> New Smart Album) based on Date will again, find all the pics from a Date or Date Range.
However, If I might comment: Looking for a List View, Sorting on Date are simply trying to use File Organisation on your Photos. iPhoto has many more ways of doing things, and much more flexible. For instance, while knowing the date a pic was taken makes it really easy to find, what if you don't know the date? Again, the date is easy, but what if you want to have a separate heading for your favourite photos, regardless of date and so on. This is a canned answer I use and it explains my organising system:
I use Events simply as big buckets of Photos: Spring 08, July - Nov 06 are typical Events in my Library. I use keywords and Smart Albums exensively. I title the pics broadly.
I keyword on a
Who
What
Where basis (The When is in the photos's Exif metadata). I also rate the pics on a 1 - 5 star basis.
Using this system I can find pretty much find any pic in my 25k library in a couple of seconds.
So, for example, I have a batch of pics titled 'Seattle 08' and a typical keywording might include: John, Anne, Landscape, mountain, trees, snow. With a rating included it's so very easy to find the best pics we took at Mount Rainier.
File -> New Smart Album
set it to 'All"
title contains Seattle
keyword is mountain
keyword is snow
rating is 5 stars
Or, want a chronological album of John from birth to today?
New Smart Album
Keyword is John
Set the View options to Sort By Date Ascending
Want only the best pics?
add Rating is greater than 4 stars
The best thing about this system is that it's dynamic. If I add 50 more pics of John to the Library tomorrow, as I keyword and rate them they are added to the Smart Album.
Keywording takes time to set up, there's no doubt about it. I use Keyword Manager as it's much more powerful than the inbuilt system, and adds the possibility of nested keywords. So, for instance, if I add John to a photo it also adds 'Family'. Now I can add many keywords to a pic quickly.
In the end, organisation is about finding the pics. The point is to make locating that pic or batch of pics findable fast. This system works for me.

  • Calendar; Can't view event as a list in Mountain Lion

    iCal-In Snow Leopard, I could create an event, and make a "list" within that event (see example below).  I could see the whole list in iCal in the Month view.  In ML, it only shows the first line of the list.  I can view the list if I turn on "Show Inspector" and click on the event.  But I'd rather be able to see the whole list without clicking on anything.  Can this be fixed?
    In Snow Leopard

  • ICal for iPhone. View all events as a list without having to type into the earth box.

    iCal for iPhone. View all events as a list without having to type into the earth box.
    On the previous software version I used to be able to view all my calendar events as a list by clicking on the magnifying glass. Now you have to type into the search dialog box for a list to populate. This is very frustrating and annoying because I much prefer the list format to populate everything unless I specify what I am looking for into the search box. Is there a way to view all the events as a list without having to type anything into the search box?

    And you are aware of the possible options for listing the months and having an optional export value for each month.
    For listing the months, you can use a number, a 3 character string, or the full name.
    For the export value, the full name, the 3 character value, the 1-2 number, or the 0-11 JavaScript value.
    I would look at deciding how you want to populate the drop down box and build a one page form with just this field. You can then insert that page into a PDF and copy the field as needed and then delete the inserted page. Or you could create an FDF file to create the drop down box.

    If you just want to export events then Bento will let you access and export your calendars. I think they still have a free trial version available. If you want to manipulate the actual ical data Bento will let you do that too.
    Not sure if there's any other solution. Maybe someone else will have a good suggestion too.
    Good luck!

    Hi,
    According to your post, my understanding is that you want to custom action for context menu in "Site Content and Structure" in SharePoint 2010.
    In "SiteManager.aspx", SharePoint use MenuItemTemplate class which represent a control that creates an item in a drop-down menu.
    For example, to create or delete the ECB menu for a list item in
    "Site Content and Structure", we can follow the steps below:
    To add the “My Like” menu, we can add the code below:
    <SharePoint:MenuItemTemplate
    UseShortId=false
    id="OLListItemLike"
    runat="server"
    Text="My Like"
    ImageUrl="/_layouts/images/DelItem.gif"
    ClientOnClickNavigateUrl="https://www.google.com.hk/"
    />
    To remove the “Delete” menu, we can comment the code below:
    <SharePoint:MenuItemTemplate
    UseShortId=false
    id="OLListItemDelete"
    runat="server"
    Text="<%$Resources:cms,SmtDelete%>"
    ImageUrl="/_layouts/images/DelItem.gif"
    ClientOnClickScript="%SmtObjectDeleteScript%"
    />
    The result is as below:

  • How can I see "Events" in a LIST - NOT in icons?

    Could someone please tell me (step by step, inch by inch) EXACTLY how I can see all of the "Events" in Iphoto '11 as a LIST...with no icons, no "Key Photos," no scrolling through 600 different pictures to try to find the EXACT event I want by DATE that I want on the event - NOT the date that the photo was taken...A LIST:
    2011-12 Go to Store (BLACK LINE WITH NOTHING ELSE IN IT)
    2010-08 In Thailand (BLACK LINE WITH NOTHING ELSE IN IT)
    2005-05 In Mexico (BLACK LINE WITH NOTHING ELSE IN IT)
    1983-01 Buy First Computer (BLACK LINE WITH NOTHINGELSE IN IT)
    600 MORE OF THESE LINES, BY DATE, AND MY DESCRIPTION, WITH NOTHING ELSE.  PERIOD.
    I USED to be able to do this in IPhoto, but since upgrading, it seems to be impossible.  It is EXTREMELY difficult to find the photos I want when dealing with Icons no matter WHAT their size.
    Along with "faces" - which I neither need, nor want, nor seem to be able to get rid of, this is the most irritating aspect of Iphoto.  But of course, it's possible that, having spent a week reading the entire manual page by page, and searching every known corner of the Internet - I simply am not smart enough to find the correct answer to this question.  OKAY.  I can admit my limtiations.
    Thanks!

    Like the original poster, I'd like to view events as a simple list. A solution is given in this thread but it does not completely provide what I would like.
    I would additionally like to have the option to sort the collapsed list of events. Specifically, I would like options to choose sort alphabetically or by date, ascending or descending. The collapsed events list in the photos view seems to be hardwired to display events chronologically.
    I am aware that in events view, event tiles can be sorted in the way that I want. However, it is the simple, collapsed list of events that I would like to sort.
    Are there any 3rd party iPhoto companion apps that can read my iPhoto library and give me a more controllable view of my events list?

    Hi,
    this problem is not only related to warehouse. even the print preview spool for GR/GI slip in t-code SP01 shows as ABAP list and not as graphical screen.
    my question is why does the system shows the print preview for spool as an ABAP list instead of graphical view.

  • TS3999 How do i see all my calender events in a list

    Hi  before this last iPhone iOS up date i used to be able to see a full list of all my calendar dates
    Now it doesn't show them like that any more. You have to search for a specific item is there a way to
    See all calendar events still?

    Tap on any date in the Month View, then tap the List icon (just to the left of the search icon). It will default to the date you selected, but is fully scrollable.

  • IPhone viewing Streaming Video in other formats

    I am considering an iPhone, however, I am curious if the iPhone can view streaming video in other formats such as wmv. I have tried on a friends phone and it didn't work. Is there a plug-in for the iPhone that can be installed to do this?

    My suggestion is to go to the feedback site (which I will list below) and tell Apple your suggestions directly. Not a promise that they will be included but at least you are getting to the right set of ears.

  • IPad Videos-List format?

    Using iPad-2 with iOS 5.1.1.   I have created playlists in iTunes for my home movies, and synced these playlists to iPad.
    When Videos app is open on iPad, the movies appear as icons in grid view (alphabetical order).
    I can't find a Playlist List format in Videos (such as is available in Music app).  The video playlists do show up in Music app, but are grayed out since there are "zero songs".
    The previous iOS 4 did have a List format for videos.   Am I missing something here?  If a person has a few hundred movies, that's a lot of scrolling through icons.

    If anyone from Apple reads this- why can't you give us the option of a list view?
    Apple does NOT read this board. If want a change, you need to submit your displeasure via Feedback at:
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/
    I've already complained about this. But they'll need here this from multiple people to make a change. If not enough people complain, they assume no one cares, and list view (like lyrics) will dissappear forever.

  • Printing Date Book without "list" format - Palm TX

    I have an old Palm TX and am trying to print a day just as it shows in my Palm software-with all the times down the left hand side of the screen.  But everytime I print, it just prints it in "list format".  Is there any way to print other than in "list format"?  I even tried to Export it to Excel or Word and all it would export to was a DBA document - what the heck is that?  PLEASE HELP!!  I have friends and family visiting for the next 10 days and I wanted to print out each day with everyone's schedule but NOT in a list format.

    DBA stands for Datebook Archive. So you can create a backup of your data. As for your issue is when you pick the date in the Print option. This setting set up the items to print in List view only. If you need to print the calendar you can trick your PC to think its a certain day and use the Day option when printing. This should get the result you need.

  • Desktop icons in List format?

    Hello @hoked41,
    Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience! To help you get the most out of the HP Forums I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide First Time Here? Learn How to Post and More.
    I have read your post on how you are looking to change the format on your notebook computer, and I would be happy to assist you in this matter!
    Unfortunately, the only available options to augment your desktop icons are to right-click the desktop, select "view", and check "Small", "Medium", or "Large".
    I hope this helps!
    Have a great weekend!
