Viewing File Attachments in a Portfolio

Hi,
Asus Transformer TF101 running 4.0.3
Workstation: Adobe Acrobat Pro 9
Tablet: Adobe Reader X (v10.2.0 J)
So I made a portfolio on my workstation with two pdf files.
In one of the portfolio files I added a file attachment by Opening File>Comment>Attach File.
Saved file and saved portfolio.
Open in Reader X on my workstation - no problems - selecting paperclip opens attached file.
However, when I save to my tablet and open portfolio and file I see the paperclip icon but attachment doesn't open on click.
Any idea why? Do I need make portfolio in Adobe Acrobat Pro X rather than 9 to make this work.
Recent announcement for Reader X says this should work - in fact has been out since 10.1.1: "Enhancements to Portfolios list and File Attachments on iOS: You can now view non-PDF children in PDF portfolios, and PDF File attachments on the iOS Reader. These capabilities already exist on Android since Reader 10.1.1"
Any help is appreciated - Thanks,
Muns

Anyone with info on this ? I have just ran into this problem myself, hard to believe there isn't a way to fix this .

  • Viewing Excel & PDF file attachments in Mac Mail 3.6

I setup my IMAP Gmail account on my Macbook's Mail 3.6. In the advanced tab of my Gmail account preferences in Mail 3.6 under "Keep copies of messages for offline viewing:" I have selected "All messages and their attachments"
Whenever I click on an Excel attachment, I get the error message "'filename' cannot be accessed. The file may be read-only, or you may be trying to access a read-only location. Or, the server the document is stored on may not be responding."
Whenever I click on a PDF attachment, I get the error message "There was an error opening this document. The file is damaged and could not be repaired."
I then tried saving the attachments from Mail 3.6 to my hard drive, but received the same error messages when I tried to open them.
However, when I access my Gmail account using my browser and download the same attachments to my hard drive, they open up without any problems.
I have deleted the folder containing the emails containing the attachments from Mail 3.6 and re-synced it with Gmail. While it successfully completes the download of all of the messages and their attachments, the same problem occurs. Oddly enough, this problem does not occur with Word Document attachments or JPEG file attachments.
This is my first Mac and while I am extremely proficient with Windows, I am clueless with Mac OS X. I have read posts about AppleDouble and Compression, but can't seem to find those options to play around with, even though I do not think that either is the issue. Any help is highly appreciated.

    Sijmons,
well, I didn' got confused but only wanted to help you with your Altzheimer
    Geeborg,
I used to .Mac webmail with Firefox on Windows and opened a message with an attachment (mpg). I clicked on the small triangle behind the word "Attachments" and then I clicked on the name of the attachment. This opened a window stating that the attachment would be downloaded. After some time I was asked to open the file with application xyz (I don't remember the name) or to save it on disk. Choosing to open the file finally launched Windows Media Player which played the mpg.
Can you try these steps on one of your attachments?

  • Attachments in pdf Portfolio

I keep getting the error message:  Acrobat cannot open the file attachment because your PDF file attachment settings do not allow this file type to be opened.
I have a .exe file within a pdf portfolio.  I have already changed the Trust settings, but it still wont open or extract this file type.  Is there a fix for this?
    Using Acrobat X

    Hi,
I have Acrobat 9.5 on my machine and I am not able to see any problem in opening non PDF file attachments.
Please give the exact version of Acrobat you are using ( to see the version go to  Help -> About Adobe Acrobat).
Update your Acrobat to latest version i.e 9.5.
As you have mentioned that in Preferences-> Trust Manager-> Allow opening of non PDF file attachment with external applications is grayted out,
is it a custom installation of Acrobat ?? because in normal installation this option is not grayed out.
    Thanks.

  • How can I disable the automatic hiding of known file attachments, and why are always about 10 internet pages where I have to download something if i use firefo

How can I disable the automatic hiding of known file attachments, and why are always about 10 internet pages where I have to download something when I use mozila firefox?
    Windows Computer

    1) If you are talking about the file names on the computer, there is a
setting to turn off known file types. Open your file browser. Then
just under the location bar, press '''Tools,''' then '''Folder Options.'''
A new window will open. Select '''View.''' Look for
'''Hide Extensions For Known File Types.'''
    2) Never NEVER '''NEVER''' download anything unless you know what
it is. If a web site claims it needs to download something, what is it?
It could be something like the flash player, '''or a virus ! !'''

  • Viewing files on CRIO

    HI,
I have been using the RT Write Text File found in the following link. This demonstrates how to read and write to a text file on the cRIO and what I want to do is verify that the file is being created and that the appropriate data is being stored. How would I go about viewing files on the cRIO? I've been looking into using the NI Web-Based Configuration and Monitoring but I'm having issues with this. If someone can give me a bit of assistance that would be great.
So far I've been through Max, clicked on the NI-RIO and added the developer computer into the Remote Device Access. Also from the project window, I have added the same IP address under the VI Server in the project window and clicked the enable remote panel server under the Web Server.
I also have a question regarding to what happens to the data in a sudden shut down?
    Solved!

    Hi,
remember, you can browse to a file on your remote RT system by opening a Windows Explorer and typing in FTP://ipaddres
    Does this work?

  • Possible to print PO file attachments on the PO report? (R12)

    Hi All,
Metalink Note:436308.1 (Do Text File Attached To Purchase Order Print on Purchase Order Report?) promises that functionality for printing PO file attachments on the PO report would be available in R12.
Does anyone know if this functionality has been implemented, and if so, where is it documented? I have been looking but not finding. Grateful for your help, as always.
    Best Regards, Matilda Smeds

    Nagmohan, Matilda:
The attachment documents with category "To Supplier" are being emailed .... but I cannot see the PO+Contract terms in the attachments on I-Supplier. I can see the PO+Contract terms in the View PDf functionality.
When there are no attachment documents, I see the PO+Contract terms in the attachments as well as the View PDF. Why is this ?
Is there anything else that needs to be setup here ?
    Yesh

  • How to protect a pdf-file in a pdf-portfolio against extraction?

How to protect a pdf-file in a pdf-portfolio against extraction?

    You can't.
Portfolios are just a single-page document with a bunch of attached files - the act of opening one of those attachments is identical to the act of "extracting" it into a new document, so blocking it would stop the Portfolio from working.

  • Multiple file attachments in InfoPath 2010 Form

I need to attach at least 10 files in an Infopath form and it submits to a form library. is there any limit for attaching multiple files in a form and how can i increase the size for multiple File Attachments in Central Admin?

    Hi fadnan,
For every web application, the document upload limit is the combined limit of all attachments that can be added to a list item. This is in the General settings for your web application in Central Admin.
In case of Infopath forms, it depends upon user session. You can view this setting in Central Admin > General Application Settings > Infopath Forms Services > Configure Infopath Form Services. Scroll down to User Sessions.
By default "Maximum size of user session data" is defined as 4MB but you can increase this limit to upload larger files. Hope it helps.

  • File Attachments in Conferences: Permissions don't follow when upgrading from 2010 to 2013

    Hello all,
Here at Unisys we are upgrading our Lync Enterprise Infrastructure from 2010 to 2013.  We have found that when we do this, any conference that has an attached file the permissions of the file do not follow.  The
options for a file permissions are Organizer, Presenter, and Everyone.  If in 2010 it is Everyone, after the upgrade, it is always reset to Organizer.  Not a big deal, but every user will need to be trained to
go back in and reset the permissions on the file, else, they will not be visible by the other conference attendees.
We have a case open with Microsoft on this, and I've scoured the web trying to find others that have seen this.  Any thoughts?
Thanks, and it's very cold in Texas today :-)

    Thanks for the update Eason.
Here are a few notes from the Msoft case that we are not 100% in agreement with:
This is not only in the case of migrating user
from 2010 to 2013. This happens even when the user is not migrated to 2013.
You can reproduce the behavior by joining the same meeting in 2010. This is a
default behavior of meeting configuration and this has been set this way for
security reasons so that if organizer is not present, nobody can view the
attachments without the permission of organizer.
However, when we test in our environment, we can add the attachment and like you say, it is set to EVERYONE.  When we exit the meeting and rejoin with OR WITHOUT the organizer present, the attachment is still there, Everyone can see it.
However, when we migrate users from 2010 to 2013, the attachments are set to organizer only.
Go figure.  Not the end of the world, we just need to make sure we are able to explain to our users that the attachments are still there and that the organizer of each meeting will need to go back in and re-permission each conference.
Take care, see you all in Vegas-

  • File attachments with Jdeveloper - SOAP

Hi ! I am using JDev 10.1.3. I need to send file attachments via SOAP call. I have a soap service sending text files. I have a wsdl from the client. I am able to read the wsdl and create a client proxy using Jdev. I can see the contents of the file using HTTP analyser. How do I read that content within my java client? Any tips/pointers to tutorials would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Sriram

Hi ! I hit this example also. I am new to web services as well as Java ..so please dont get ticked.
    1) I am able to see the data going back and forth (when I use the http analyzer) only as hex.
when i view the message as raw ..this is all I have ..
    HTTP/1.1 200 OK
    Server: Sun-ONE-Web-Server/6.1

However when I switch to the hex mode ... I see a whole lot? Do you know why the file would be coming in as binary encoded when I specify the file is text/plain?

  • Storing file attachments

    Hello,
We have built a custom solution (custom objects, transactions, number ranges, UIs, etc.) to handle certain kind of requests in our SAP system. Now we would like to add file attachment functionality to our transaction(s) - in other words we want that the users will have possibility to add files as attachments when creating new requests or changing the existing ones.
What is the best approach to handle this requirement? From user interface point of view this is not an issue. I am familiar with the different file uploading possibilities within classic dynpro and web dynpro. The question is that how to store the files and where.
I don't think that storing the files into the SAP DB is really an option due to the large amount of large files. (I think that this would be quite easy to implement.) We have content server(s), but they have been configured as DMS - they are storing some engineering documents etc. into these content repositories.
Would it be possible to store the documents into these DMS content repositories (if yes, how can we do it?) and make a link between the file and our documents into a custom table? As far as I understand we really cannot start using the document info record functionality for our custom objects (or perhaps we can, but it will require a quite massive work effort.)
Or is it just the best option to configure new content repositories as type ArchiveLink, and then store the documents into these new content repositories?
    Any other options?
    Any thoughts are welcome.
    Regards,
    Pa

Well, first I am instructed to ask this question in DMS forum. When I close this thread and open a similar one in DMS forum, I am being reported to abuse the system???
EDIT: The thread in DMS: Storing file attachments
EDIT2: I opened this thread again...

  • Question re: File Attachments

In my app, I have a Topic a user fills out (subject and body) and they need to be able to attach a file to the topic (one or more) much like in email. I set up a table that will accept the file as a blob and also accept a URL string (in case the user puts the file up on another server). Also there's a Display Name field for a title for the attachment. When the user submits the Topic and it is thereafter viewed as an entry by another user (as a reader) I want the Display Name of the attached file(s) to act as hyperlinks to the file attachments themselves (either as an uploaded file within the current app, or as a link to an uploaded file elsewhere). I do not want a choice field in my Topic to pick an attachment, but rather have a file upload control in the Topic form view or in another form view just for the attachment. Ideas? Advise? I am using JDev 10.1.3.1 and JHeadstart 10.1.3 with Oracle 10g.
    Thanks!!!
    Ginni

    Ginni,
This is also documented in the JHeadstart Developers Guide, chapter 3, section "File Upload, File Download, Showing Image Files, and Playing Audio Files".
Note that this functionality requires an ORDSYS.ORDDOC column type rather than a BLOB, since ADF only support file upload with intermedia types.

  • TS3276 how do you send file attachments (Particularly jpegs) so that receiver gets as a file not as an open embedded photograph

how do you send file attachments (Particularly jpegs) so that receiver gets as a file not as an open embedded photograph?

This sends the attachment as an icon, not embedded inline. Copy/Paste into Terminal in Utilities and hit return.
    defaults write com.apple.mail DisableInlineAttachmentViewing 1
To reverse the setting, change the 1 to a 0.
But how it will be viewed  will all depend on the e-mail client and settings of the recipient. Not under your control.

  • Lead File Attachments General Question

Lead File Attachments General Question, can attachments somehow be made in the full edit view?

Attachments are Related Objects till R17. So it can not be seen in Full-Edit Mode.
In R18, one attachment is available at the Object Level.
    Trust this helps.
