Thanks.

  • No Sound when viewing Flash content in Safari for Windows

    Hopefully someone can help.
Just recently, I've been unable to get sound when viewing Flash content on the web.
I currently use Safari for Windows, when I use Internet Explorer on the same computer I can get sound. Just no sound when using Safari for Windows????
Please help, I like Safari for Windows much better than I.E. but I'm forced to use IE when I want to watch something with sound.
    Thank you

    Are you using Safari 3.1.2?
Try reinstalling the Flash plugin at: http://www.apple.com/safari/download/plugins.html

  • Can't View Flash Content in Opera 9

    Hello,
I'm having viewing Flash content with Opera 9. I have downloaded and installed the latest version of Flash (9.0.18), and my other browsers have no problem showing the Flash content.
Am I missing something here with getting Opera 9 to display Flash movies, etc.? I can't figure out how to instruct the browser to display it.
    Many thanks,
    sarah

    Sheeesh, fixed it.
    Open Opera 9 Preferences
Click the Advanced Tab at the top
Select Downloads in the left column, you will get a Mime type window
Scroll and find .swf extension then click Edit
At the bottom of the window that opens it should be checked "Use plug-in" and show Shockwave Flash
Select Shockwave Flash and you will see another one listed as well, swap to it and restart Opera.
Somehow, even though I did uninstall all older components, it's found and used the wrong one.
Now Flash works fine in Opera 9, Safari and Firefox.

  • Flash Content on Safari Stutters Badly...

I am trying to troubleshoot for my sister who has an iMac G4 800mhz; 768mb RAM; 64mb VRAM; running 10.4.10
Quicktime trailers play fine for her in Safari, (or on her desktop), but with Flash content, like at Youtube, or Comedy Central, the video playback stutters badly. I define stutter, as unwatchable jumpy video, and audio that plays back better than the video, but also drops out occasionally.
I've upgraded her to the the latest version of Flash, and that did nothing. I also downloaded Firefox, just to check another browser, and Flash content stutters there to.
My next idea, as a test, was to download a flash file to her desktop, and see if it stutters there without using Safari, and it's flash plugin, as the player.
So I downloaded a flash file from youtube, (by doubleclicking it in the activity window, which automatically downloads a file called, "get video," with no file extension, and a generic icon.)
I then added a .flv on the end of the file name, and the icon turned into a flash icon.
Now, I want to note, on my computers, when I add a .flv on the end of the name of one of these files I've downloaded from Youtube, when I highlight it in a finder window under column view, I see a preview of the movie, which I can play there. I can also ctrl click, and choose, open with other, (because flash player will not open an flv file), and choose Quicktime as the app, it opens and plays.
On her computer, when I highlight the same file in column view in her finder window, there is no preview visible, just a large flash icon, and the file will not open with her Quicktime app either.
Now, I could care less whether she can play the darn things on her desktop, though I am perplexed that I cannot. (I was just troubleshooting.) Btw, we are both using the same versions of OSX 10.4.10; Safari 2.0.4; Quicktime 7.2; and Flashplayer 9.0
All I want is for her to be able to play Flash content on Safari without the stutter.
    Any suggestions?

    Thanks for your reply.
I've been hearing nothing but crickets!
I guess it's just the old machine that's the problem. Thanks for the confirmation, -that you have had the same experience.
No wonder the "five bar," pros that work these boards have had no solutions to offer. They're usually, on the money.
I am aware of downloading the flv files and converting them with iSquint. I've told her she can do that, and while that would be fine for me, (though I don't have this problem), it's not a solution she is happy with. I use my activity window to find and download flash files all the time, that don't have a download link readily available. I suppose if she wants the vid badly enough, she will call me and I'll walk her through it.
She has been talking about upgrading her system, for some time now, so this will just be one more reason for her to do so.
    Thanks again!

  • Macbook Pro Late 2008 gets real hot when viewing Flash Content.  Does anyone have a solution?

Macbook Pro Late 2008 gets hot, fans kick on at 6200 rpm, and CPU usage of about 65% when viewing Flash Content.  I've been to the Adobe Forum, but saw no solution for this.  Already unchecked Hardware Acceleration.  I had motherboard replaced just a week ago, so that's not the issue.  I hope someone can help.

    MDhennin wrote:
Yes it was happening before the logicboard was replaced.  I'm up to date with Flash and Software Updates too.  Macbook can handle everything but Flash content.  So I assume its related to some kind of incompatability.  Not sure though.  I have come across others who have the same issue.
Ok, dumb question on my part, but did any of those others find a solution? If not, what have they, and you, tried? If you don't mind, posting a link to content which causes this might be helpful (I don't watch a lot of Flash-based video, but I've never had an issue like that on my early 2008/less able MBP . . .).

  • Upgraded to Flash 9 on OS 10.4.11 -- cannot view flash content

Hi All! I recently upgraded Flash to v. 9 and can no longer
view any Flash content online. No error messages - just blank space
where video clip would normally be. Shortly before I noticed these
problems, I also upgraded Quicktime. I've seen comments online
about going into System Preferences > Quicktime > Advanced
    > MIME Settings > Miscelaneous. I was told to uncheck the
Flash in the list, but don't see Flash listed there. I'm not sure
if there is some conflict with Quicktime or if that upgrade is
unrelated? Any advice would be appreciated! Sue

I am having the same problem. When I installed The new Flash
Player it said it was installed successfully. But I don't see the
movie, just the (F) flash logo. When I go to pbskids.org to run
flash content, it says I need the Flash Player??

  • Sluggishness when viewing Flash contents

Im not sure when, but probably after I updated my Firefox
from v1.5 to 2.0, I experienced sluggishness whenever there's Flash
    contents in websites.
I realised the quality is set to high by default. And that
caused the sluggishness. How to configure the quality setting so
that I can change it to Medium as default? Because whenever I
change manually by right clicking on the flash content as set it to
'medium', if i close the broswer and reopened (or even refresh the
page), the quality flash content is set to high again as default.
anyone can help me with this? Thanks

This isn't just an issue with FF2. I have experienced this
issue on both FF 1.0.5 and 1.5.
The more flash content, the worse FF responds.

  • Flash content on Safari

Sorry if I am duplicate posting!
When will Flash content be playable on IPT, getting a little bored of Lego Block.
Does anyone know if there are plans to have permissions for alternative browsers installed (i.e Firefox) in the future?

When (and that's an entirely different topic) the Software Development Kit (SDK) is released, we should see more applications. Whether any of those will be flash players or alternate browsers, where they will be sold, and how much they cost is, as yet, unknown.

  • Unable to view Flash content after Norton Utilities scan

I ran a Norton Utilities scan yesterday, and afterwards various websites looked extremely strange in Firefox. Worse, I lost the ability to view embedded videos on such sites as the BBC, YouTube etc.
Further testing this morning shows that the problem isn't with ALL video content. There are SOME YouTube videos that I can view perfectly well, for example. And while I cannot view content in the MLB.com media player, some embedded video on the homepage seems to work fine.
I have updated my Flash plugin to the latest version and the Adobe website tells me it is working correctly. Any ideas what could be causing the problem? Did Norton Utilities delete some file that I actually needed? I have read some forum answers about other problems that suggest I should disable Norton scans with respect to the Firefox folder, and I will do that - but how do I fix the problem it has caused? I have tried a system restore to no avail.
I have Firefox 12 running on a Win7 x64 machine. And by the way, the 'weird-looking websites' problem mentioned above seems to have been fixed by reloading each one in turn.

Before using any of these 'cleaning' programs, I always save my Firefox and Thunderbird profiles (includes cookies, emails etc) using a freebie program MozBackup - mozbackup.jasnapaka.com/.
If your Firefox then gets cleaned out, you can easily recover it. You can also
get back profiles for as far back as you want, as long as you keep all the backups.
    Best wishes. CD

  • Flash Player 8 plugin problem, can get Flash content on Safari

I've been trying to install the Flash Player 8 OSX plugin on my Mac but it's not installing, ie when the installation is success a Flash Player logo is supposed to appear on the Macromedia web page and this hasn't happened.
I tested the Flash Player 8 plugin download on my PowerBook G4 and the installation was a success on my Safari Browser where I can view still view sites with Flash Plugins.
    MacBook Pro 1.83   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

Flash Player comes pre-installed on the MacBook. You have just overwritten the Universal version with a PowerPC version that, as you are now seeing, just plain doesn't work.
There is a thread that talks about replacing the files that you installed by mistake with the original Flash Player files. If you search I'm sure you will find it.

  • Downloading flash content with Safari?

Now that the Activity Window has gone away, I'm looking for a way to simply download flash video from within Safari (not interested in a standalone application).
I know about Click To Flash, but I would like a way to simply get the .flv file - I'm not looking to convert (Click To Flash does not appear to have this option, unless I'm missing something).
    Any suggestions?

I have noticed that some videos on YouTube allow a right mouse button or trackpad click that pops up a menu with a download entry. This will download a .mp4 copy of the current video. You might also google Mactubes. Latest version is 3.1.4 and works on ML. Can you live with the mp4 format or do you still want the .flv format?

  • Unable to view flash content with Flash 10,0,22,87 as an Non Admin

We currently have an issue with in our Citrix farm with Windows 2003 Servers (x64, R2, SP1) Where Flash Flash 10,0,22,87 is installed and working fine when logged in as a Domain administrator but will not work as a normal (non administrative user) to confirm I've given a user who it did not work for Domain admin rights and it started working straight away. I'm using (and published within Citrix) the 32bit version on IE for compadibility reasons and have also tired this on a Window 2003 Server (x86 R2 SP1) and am getting the same results so I have to assume the issue is with Flash and not with my setup.
    I've tried the following recommendations:
Remove with Adobe Flash removal tool and Reinstalling via website with an Domain admin login using the change user /install command
Remove with Adobe Flash removal tool and Reinstalling via install_flash_player_ax.exe installer with a domain admin account using the change user /install command
Allowing Domain users Modify Premissions (to both the Directories and Files) to the M:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash\swflash.ocx & M:\WINDOWS\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash\Flash10b.ocx
Following KB article http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/624/624850b5.html and applying the premission changes recommended
Following KB article http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/191/tn_19148.html and checking the registry premissions on these items
I've enabled all ActiveX and Java related IE options in Group Policy to allow the to run for the Internet Zone
When going to http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ either as a Domain admin or a Regular user it confirms that "You have version 10,0,22,87 installed"
Still I cant seem to get flash components of websites to load when logged in as a non Administrative User.

this is what fixed the issuefor me:
Be sure to try this on a test machine and back it up if needed.
    In the system registry
For each of the following registry keys:
    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000}
    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{D27CDB70-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000}

    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\TypeLib\{D27CDB6B-AE6D-11CF-96B8-444553540000}
    Right-click the key, select "Permissions"
In the Permissions Dialog click the "Advanced" button Click "Add"
Enter "Everyone" and click "OK" to accept Select "Allow" for the "Query Value", "Enumerate Subkeys", "Notify" and "Read Control" permissions. Do not change any existing permissions.
