Viewing HD footage back on an HD monitor

I have footage that was shot with the Panasonic HVX200 in 1080/24p mode. The footage is coming back with me to LA and I will no longer have access to the Panasonic HVX, but I will have access to a Sony Z1U, which normally shoot HDV1080. Will I be able to use my Z1U as a deck and then connect that to my HDTV, and if not, what steps should I consider taking to be able to edit the Panasonic footage and still use the Z1U as my external deck so that I can send a true HD signal out to my TV for playback?

So are you suggesting that maybe the HVX would work as a deck for the solid state media that was recorded because that's the camera that was used to record it, or that in general, because the media was recorded on P2 cards, no camera can be used as a deck for HD playback?
On the same note, do you think that footage recorded in the Sony Z1U in the HDV format will be able to be played back on the Z1U (or HVX out of curiosity) when those cameras are used as a deck to get to an HDTV for playback?

  • Viewing footage on desktop and external monitor at same time

    Maybe i'm missing something, but is there any way to view footage simultaneously on your desktop monitor and your external broadcast monitor (via blackmagic output)?
    Right now when I enable mercury transmit, the viewer within speedgrade goes to grey and I can only see the footage on the external monitor.  This makes it impossible to draw custom shapes around objects (rather than just use the stock circle masks) which I use quite a bit...I would like to have the view on both monitors like I have in resolve.
    If this isn't possible, is there a quick shortcut to toggle mercury transmit on and off without having to go into the settings menu?
    Any help would be appreciated...I am enjoying a lot of the controls that are in speedgrade but there are some workflow hurdles that I need to get over in order to be able to use effectively in client sessions from time to time.
    Thanks!

    I waited expectantly and patiently  for Adobe to enable Mercury Transmit  in SG and to be able to make use of my BM card and external monitor.
    O.K we got it in CC2014.1...but it is either Mercury Transmit or  Dual Display!
    I think this half-arsed solution  is an absolute fail that we cant use desktop and an  external monitor simultaneously.
    Has anyone on the SG team actually been in a real world CC and Grade Suite?
    At least we got consistency with the blue color scheme if not how Mercury Transmit works across the suite of apps.

  • Don't have full screen view since changing to 19 inch screen. Have about 2 inches of white space on each side. Changed to compact view and then back. No change

    I got a larger monitor and flat screen (19 inch). Since changing I am not getting a full screen view of home page. I changed the page options to compact view and then back, but no change. I've got about 2 inches of white on each side of the home page view.

    When going to a website the picture was small - tried changing the Zoom size , tried Zoom Reset - the text did change size but the layout distorts - found under View - Zoom - Zoom Text Only was checked --- Removed this check mark and the website returned to normal size and Zoom worked normally again. I am 99.9999% sure I did NOT check this myself and there is no one else on the computer to cause it. Maybe this will help.

  • How can I get the old view of iCal back on my MacBook Pro and iPhone?

    How can I get the old view of iCal back on my MacBook Pro and iPhone?  The Mavrick version is crisp and clean but a colored dot is not the same as a highlighted word. I rely on my iCal on my MacBook Pro and iPhone 5 to help me track which of the 8 sites I visit for my job during the week - the color coding is (was key) to organizing and tracking meetings.  I hate the upgrade!

    If purchased through the Mac App Store then it can be installed on up to five authorized CPUs. Otherwise, it's controlled by the license that came with the software.
    To install on another computer copy the downloaded installer application to the other computer.

  • Live Bookmark Feed failed to load. I cannot view any footage on BBC News site. Also I can no longer view images I have uploaded to a website. This has all materialised overnight. Please help.

    I have been uploading pictures of booksd to ABE.com for ages. I am able to view these images on the site. Today, without warning, I am unable to do this. Coincidentally, I note that I can no longer view film footage on the BBC news pages. The Latest Headlines column is also showing "Live Bookmark Feed failed to load". Please help.

    If images are missing then check that you aren't blocking images from some domains.
    *Check the permissions for the domain in the current tab in "Tools > Page Info > Permissions"
    *Check that images are enabled: Tools > Options > Content: [X] Load images automatically
    *Check the exceptions in "Tools > Options > Content: Load Images > Exceptions"
    *Check the "Tools > Page Info > Media" tab for blocked images (scroll through all the images with the cursor Down key).
    If an image in the list is grayed and there is a check-mark in the box "<i>Block Images from...</i>" then remove that mark to unblock the images from that domain.
    Make sure that you do not block third-party images permissions.default.images
    *http://kb.mozillazine.org/Images_or_animations_do_not_load
    There are also extensions (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) and security software (firewall, anti-virus) that can block images.
    Try to remove the current Latest Headlines feed and create a new feed.<br />

  • How to access query based view object in backing bean

    Hi
    I am using JDev11.1.2.1.0
    I want to use the query result of query based view object in backing bean.
    How can i do the same
    Please Solve this
    Thanks

    Hi,
    Assuming ADF is in the picture
    1. Create a PageDef file for the page (right mouse click "Go to Page Definition")
    2. In the Executable section, create an iterator for the View Object
    3. In the managed bean:
    BindingContext bctx = BindingContext.getCurrent();
    BindingContainer bindings = bctx.getCurrentBindingsEntry();
    DCIteratorBinding iter = (DCIteratorBinding ) bindings.get("name of Iterator");
    iter.execute();
    // ... navigate the iterator rows ...//

  • How to prevent end user to create a Query View and save back to BW Server?

    Dear All :
    Do Someone know that how to setup authorization for Bex Query View Creation? We want to prevent end user to create a Query View to save back to BW Server his favorite folder. when our user run Bex Query, he can base on this query and use Bex Analyzer's save function to save a Query View and save into his favorite folder.
    My question is :
    1. Can we set up a Authorization to prevent end user to save Bex Query View?
    2. Or can I remove Save function from Bex Analyzer to prevent end user use save function, But Developer should not to be prevent .
    Thanks for all of your kindly response.
    Best Regard
    Lawrence Kuo

    Hi.
    Yes, you can do it like you outline in your point 1):
    You need to use the authorization object S_RS_COMP for this. This object let's you control what parts/components of a query the user can do stuff to. So, in your case, you need to have a role for the users, where you do not grant create-access to the component QVW, and then you need another role for developers, where you grant full access or whatever you need for your developers.
    See [this post|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/a6c54319-0e01-0010-20a4-fb81ad32f330?QuickLink=events&overridelayout=true&5003637661135] and the [SAP Help entry|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/80/1a6859e07211d2acb80000e829fbfe/content.htm].
    You will also need to use the authorization object S_RS_COMP1. If you already have a productive system with users doing reporting, both objects will be maintained in one of the roles already.
    You also want to consider using the object S_RS_PARAM to allow users to create variants for the variabel screen.
    Good luck.

  • Getting data from view object into backing bean

    Hi,
    My requirement is explained below -
         I have a ADF editable table in a jsf page which is connected to backend database table. In the table there are 6 columns and only 2 are editable. So when user inputs a value in first input column an event is triggered such that the data for all the remaining columns should be fetched from another database table.
    Typically if we are not using ADF development environment. We would have had a simple business method which creates the sql query by taking the input from textbox with simple where clause and I would have got the data. I am not getting any idea how to do this in ADF. I have the second table as view object but how to access the view object from backing bean and get data based on the input given.

    Hi,
    step 1) Expose a method on the ViewObject Impl class
    step 2) define arguments for the method as needed to identify the row to read data from
    step 3) retrieve the row from the VO that holds the data you want to add and return a HashMap with this information
    step 4) expose the method on the client interface (Java menu selection on the View Object)
    step 5) In the PageDef file, create a method binding to the method you exposed on the ViewObjectImpl
    step 6) Call the method binding from the managed bean like
    OperationBinding getDataFromVO = (OperationBinding) BindingContext.getCurrent().getCurrentBindingsEntry().get("Name of method binding);
    getDataFromVO.getParamsMap().put("name of arguments1", value1);
    getDataFromVO.getParamsMap().put("name of arguments2", value2);
    Object retData = getDataFromVO.execute();
    if(retData != null && getDataFromVO.getErrors().size()==0){
      HashMap retDataMap = (HashMap) retData;
    ... follow the rest of your logic ....

  • Since iOS 8 cannot exit street view and go back to satellite image

    Since updating to iOS8 I ca not exit street view and go back to satellite view. Help please.

    FYI to anyone with the same issues wishing to downgrade....just did this using the official Apple 7.1.2 IPSW file and it worked fine. I'm still keen to move to iOS 8 once they iron out the issues but for now I get my preferred user experience back!!

  • Viewing interlaced footage on external monitor (HD Prores)

    Hi,
    I have a project that I would like to watch on my Flatscreen LCD TV. My project is prores 422 1080i 50Hz (PAL) and so is my footage. My TV is connected to my Imac and set to 1080i 50Hz. FCP is set tot view all frames on external monitor (full screen) but the footage doesn't playback smoothly and still shows that it's interlaced (the TV doesn't process the footage as being interlaced). Is there a way to send an interlaced signal to a TV from FCP?

    When in Mastering mode what the MXO driver is doing is interrupting the normal output of your Graphics card and instead sending uncompressed YUV + embedded audio from the application out via the graphics port (ie subverting the normal operation of the graphics card). The MXO then passes that output to its own video output ports for your monitoring pleasure, plus works some magic to translate the signal back as a color critical DVI reference signal for monitoring on a supported DV display.
    ... Or at least, thats my guess. But as you say, a rough understanding of the process does not make it any cheaper. Sorry about that.
    Cheers
    Andy

  • IPhone footage zoomed in Multi Cam monitor

    I am editing a wedding for a friend on CS6, for the first dance I used a camcorder on a tripod and my iPhone 4s. I have synced them in multi cam but when using the multi cam monitor the iPhone footage has zoomed in, how do I zoom it back out?

    More specifically, based on your explanation, the camera is probably DV at 720X480, or maybe the smaller HD at 1280X720 while the iPhone is 1920X1080.
    You have two basic choices. Context click on the larger footage and select "Scale to Frame Size" or better yet, click on the footage and go to the Effect Controls panel and use the Motion effect's Scale parameter to scale it down.
    You may choose to scale it exactly, or you may decide to leave it a little larger if that frames the picture better. It depends on the footage. I often find that I want to focus the viewer's attention on the better part of the larger frame. I can do this better if I edit in a smaller frame. Once again, it depends on the footage as well as the distribution method.

  • Viewing Canvas Video Feed on a Seperate Monitor through DVI or Component

    Hey All,
    This is something I have been researching with no simple, possibly cost efficent solution. Basically I would like to view the timeline canvas feed on a seperate monitor without the use of my hvx200. I will be editing in 720p60 and have an 17" hd tv with component and dvi inputs on the way.
    I mainly will be using this monitor on productions as a field monitor but I would like to eventually use it as a second monitor on my mac pro to view only the video timeline feed of final cut pro on it, not mirror desktop and have a somewhat fuzzy (sd on a second monitor through mirroring always seems degraded).
    I have looked at possible devices like the matrox and blackmagics pci cards to either sdi (which I dont have) hdmi and such but those start at $1000, a great deal of money I do not have at the time.
    I would think that since the monitor has both a vga 15pin and digital dvi input there either has to be an option in fcp I have not seen or a device that I have not found.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated,
    Thanks again for everything,
    Tim

    Look at the back of your mac and see if you have two monitor ports on your video card. Depending on the type of card you should be able to connect to your HD monitor as a second screen and then setup FCP to put external video on the digital cinema desktop.
    I am using a siimilar setup, using a Dell Ultra-Sharp flatscreen as both my second computer monitor and my external video. The Dell's have DVI, VGA, component, S-video, and composite inputs, but right now I'm just using the DVI and FCP switches the video back and forth when I turn on external video.
    Hope this helps -

  • Monitor view weird , can't find drivers or monitor model here

    I just picked up my montior at a Bargain Center , it is a new monitor , but i cant find the model here on HP's site  ,  it says on the back tag  , TSS-25BG  , and i searched and can not find this model
    My issue is that every website i go to the image is in the center and not filling the screen  , i tried Windows settings , but nothing i did changed anything , i tried adjusting the broswer settings (it look the same in Firefox , and Google Chrome)  , even on this site , everything is bunched into the middle of the screen    , in my device Manager , it just says Generic Plug and Play Monitor , so i thought maybe the driver needs to be installed , but as mentioned  , i can't find my model on this site   , any info would be appreciated
    FRESH (today) installation of Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit on brand new 1tb Sata HD  , Fresh Firefox , fresh  Google Chrome , ALL Windows Updates done today , and completely up to date  , i don't know if this will solve my issue , but i would like the correct drivers for the monitor anyway  , any idea's ??   ... Thanks ... Jim
    EDIT:
    I just ran Belarc Advisor to scan my PC for hardware and software , and it says my montitor is a HP model 2509  , S/N 3CQ1161S5  , which is not what the back label says (what i posted above) , so i am confused  , the next question is , what 2509 model is it  , i thought i saw several ??  , for HD montiors i only saw 2  , a  2509M  and a  2509P , they are both HD Value monitors , which mine is HD , but which one ??
    EDIT2:
    After reading all the info for the 2509 montiors , i have determined that mine is the 2509M , so i downloaded and installed the Driver and Manual for that ... it did not change the view , so i am now guessing this is a Windows 7 issue to do with wide screen monitors and how it shows images , so i will try the Microsoft forums and see if i find any answers

  • How to gradually slow down sped-up footage back to normal playback?

    I am playing back footage 250% faster than it was originally shot at, but I want it to end at 100% by the time the clip ends playing. How can I gradually drop the speed from 250% to 100% so that it does not come off as jarring to the viewer?

    Mark is right, of course, but he didn't tell you what to keyframe.
    Use the Time Remapping effect.
    There are tutorials available for this effect. This one is for CS5.5 but it applies to newer releases as well.

  • From a beginner: problems viewing HD footage with iMovie

    I wondered if someone could just tell me whether iMovie is in some way fundamentally unsuitable for viewing footage from a HD camera? I don't really understand this technology, but basically, footage shot on a HD camera plays back beautifully clearly on the camera's flip screen but looks awful when played back on the computer with iMovie. In the first instance I just need to establish whether the problem is with the camera, the software, or the connection between the camera and the computer (USB). It'd also help to know whether iMovie just plays what it sees, or whether it codes the footage in some way in the background, so that what you're seeing is a 'rendered' version of the film.
    Thanks for any help you can give, and I'm sorry about the lack of technical terminology!

    It won't be the connection - If you are getting anything at all from the camcorder, you can pretty much assume that the connection is working - Its all digital.
    When you say Panasonic, is it one of the new 600 / 700 models ?? And if so, are you recording in 1080p format (with the button inside the screen flap) ?? I'm guessing not, otherwise, you generally won't be able to see anything in iMovie without some additional steps.
    Assuming it is a Panasonic AVCHD camcorder, and you're recording in one of the standard AVCHD settings, iMovie 09 should import the video off the camcorder without any issues. It is generally discussed that iMovie 09 does lower the resolution when you are dealing with interlaced footage (as standard AVCHD is). Even if you import it as Full Size (rather than large), the software will remove every other line of resolution in order to turn your interlaced footage (where half the image is transmitted, then the other half - as was always traditional) into Progressive video (as is the preference for modern LCD and computer screens etc.
    This might be the cause of your problem. There are plenty of discussions on this forum regarding the loss of quality resolution with iMovie 09 (something that didn't happen with iMovie 06). If you think this might be the issue, there are solutions and work arounds but it is all a bit complicated. I believe iMovie 11 is better, but I've never tried it.
