Viewing iBooks on a PC

Hello everyone.
I have a few iBooks on my iPod, although the pages are small and some parts are difficult to read. It also requires a lot of scrolling and changing orientation also takes a little time to do. Is it possible to view iBooks on a PC either through iTunes or any other program? Is anyone aware of any plans to make this possible? I have dowloaded an ePub reader, adobe digital editions, although it will not view my protected iBooks. Please help.

No, there is no way to view protected iBooks on anything other than an iOS device.
Nobody knows if or when Apple is going to release a version of iBooks for OS X or any other OS, but lots of people want them to.

Text missing from vertical view- Ibooks Author product

I made a book in ibooks author. In the horizontal view, it looks perfect. In the vertical view, large chunks of text are missing from the book semi at-random. If I attempt to insert the missing chunks of text into the vertical view, then when I switch back over to the horizontal view, I just get repetition where the text shows up twice. That means it is impossible to make the book look good both horizontally & vertically. Any idea how to solve?

Remember, layout in landscape and edit content in portrait.
Check in both.
If you like, you can disable Portrait in the Inspector.

Basic requirements to view iBooks created by Author?

Hello,
I've been working on a simple iBook as a promotional device to attract investors to a project. While it works fine on my iPad 2, it isn't working with my partners who own the iPad 1.
I've gone through these forums to better understand the requirements needed in viewing books created with Author but I haven't found a consistent answer.
I'm assuming the only update needed for people using older iPads is that they've updated to iBooks 2 - or do they truly need to be running iOS 5 as well?

But paid-for items from Apple's iBookstore are most often protected by Apple's DRM, which can only be read via the iBooks app, which only exists for iOS devices and not for any Mac or PC laptop or desktop. Is it possible to view ibook exactly as printed version?

I bought my textbook via iBooks app (on my iPad 3) and was just informed by my professor that he will be giving tests based on specific page numbers and areas of the page IN THE PRINTED EDITIONS. I already bought the ebook and do not want to buy a printed edition of the book as well, and can't find it in any libraries.
So, is there an option to view it exactly as the printed version? the printed version is roughly 700 pages and my ebook version in iBooks is roughly 1800 pages. changing font size helps minimize to some extent but i'm still off by several hundred pages.

It's not just the font size, but the measure - the width of each line - used in the printed book that matters. Also the line spacing impacts on pagination. In short, none that I know of: you'd need the PDF version of the book.
Tell your professor to give both page numbers and text references - time he accepted the two formats now co-exist.

Loading .iBooks to iPhone using iOS 8

Has anyone tried to load a preview file over from iBooks Author to say, like an iPhone 5S using iOS 8 with iBooks Author?
I'm not getting iBooks Author to even recognize the phone is attached.
Also, can someone suggest a procedure for loading .ibooks files to the same phone?
Or is that not going to transfer over?
Curious and concerned.

Unless it's a new feature of iOS 8 (which, at best is buggy anyway), it's my understanding that iBooks Author was never intended to be loaded on an iPhone. Think about it — that's a pretty small screen for content.
It was originally intended exclusively for the iPad. Then they added the ability to view iBook Author ebook content on supported Mac OS.

Unable to open PDF documents on iPad

When I try to open a PDF document on my iPad it says the document is corrupted or damaged. This started happening after the IOS 7.1 update. I updated adobe reader last week and restarted the iPad and nothing has changed. I can open the same document on android and windows with no issues.

Unfortunately, we are still unable to reproduce the problem on our end.
However, a forum user (d_hoe) gave us a helpful tip for opening a PDF document from Apple Mail (iOS native mail app) today.
"I only click on "Download full message" and then I download / open the PDF file. Both App´s standard PDF viewer / iBooks and Adobe Reader display it correctly. If I don´t click on "Download full message" first the PDF is not displayed correctly."
It sounds like Apple Mail may be corrupting a PDF attachment.
Do you see "Download full message" at the end of your email message with a PDF attachment?
Could you try the following steps?
In Apple Mail, scroll to the end of your email message.
Tap "Download full message" (if visible).
Long press (press & hold) the PDF attachment icon.
Select "Open in Adobe Reader".
Is your PDF document still corrupted or damaged?

Can I use Indesign to create an ePub for iPad with expandable images?

Hello everyone! I'm creating a book for iBooks on the iPad. It is a basic book that has short chapters of text with pictures. Reading Terry White's, the Adobe evangelist, blog I saw that his attempt with InDesign seemed straight forward, without a need for html skills (which I don't have.) So I would make the investment in InDesign if it is suitable.
BUT! I would like to add an extra feature that I have seen in some iBooks: When you double-tap an image the text disappears and the image expands and fills the page. And when you double-tap the image again it goes back to normal. Can this be done in InDesign? How?

Size your image so that the longest dimension is 1024 pixels.
Screen size of iPad is 1024 x 768.
In iBooks, when a user double-taps on an image, iBooks will open the image in full-screen view and scales the image to its largest dimension.
In normal book view, iBooks displays all images at their maximum size unless they're larger than the iBooks page, in which case they are displayed to the max width or height of the page (until double-tapped on).
You can constrain the image size in iBooks with certain HTML coding. (Unlike other epub display software and devices, iBooks ignores CSS height and width instructions unless you make specific use of a <div> tag.)

In list view in ibooks i have an indicator that looks like a media stop eg || in a circle on many lines. What is it

All of a sudden using Ibooks on my Ipad - many lines in list view have this indicator || inside a circle appearing on the far right and the books no longer open. I can find nothing about this in help. What is it and what does it mean

Hi John, I'm guessing that icon is created and updated by an extension. I'm not sure which one, though. Maybe something that is tracking the trackers, like Lightbeam? Have you tried hovering your mouse over the icon to see whether a tooltip appears, or clicking it?

HT4059 When I have a PDF that I want to open and save into iBooks - it will attempt to open it and the shelf flips around to make room for it. But it doesn't save it. I have to end up opening it in Adobe or Kindle app to view & save it.

Sets the view in EDIT mode
Now, ob_entity is null if there is initially no data in the notes section of the confirmed account. However, if notes is not empty, then, ob_entity is bound and I can set the view to edit mode. This is the issue.

HT204365 I have many PDFs in my iBooks , but I cannot transfer them out or email them? I'm trying to view them in a PDF reader but its as if these docs are permanently stuck in there even though everything is stored in iCloud. I can't figure this out.

My PDFs stored in iBooks cannot be transferred out reviewed by other apps this is very frustrating because I have many manuals documents and check list all in iBooks but it seems that once you choose to "open in iBooks" this document is now stuck trapped inside here and I am unable to view any of these PDFs with a more dance PDFReader.
Yes I'm enabled iCloud on both my PDFReader's and in my iPad for my documents. I can't even select one of my PDFs to transfer into my dropbox or another cloud storage device so again these documents which I've collected over the last few months or now trapped in this horrible PDF reading program.

When I open emails with PDFs I click on the attachment (doing this all on my iPad) it gives me the option to "open in iBooks", I accept then after that the document is sucked into my iPad but I can't do anything with the PDF after that. Where is the actual file on my iPad? Why can't I email or send these PDFs to my cloud (Dropbox)?
It's like once they go into iBooks they're stuck forever.

Can't import photos from finepix A345 to iPhoto or Finepix viewer mac ibook

I had previously imported photos from my fuji finepix A345 camera to iPhoto on my macBookPro 10.4.9. Now I am trying to import new images from the same camera and iPhoto displays a message "no photos to import". I have installed Finepix viewer but it also shows no images to import. I have tried creating a new library on a second non admin account and still iPhoto says "no images to import". I was able to successfully import the same images to my thinkpad T41.
Please help me find a way to import photos from finpix A345 to my mac ibook pro. Note there are no movies in the photos I am trying to import. Thanks.

Are you sure there are images on the card you're importing from? (asking that just in case you chose to 'delete after download' with another computer).
Also, have you perhaps formatted the camera drive/card via another computer instead of from the camera itself?
If your MBP can read the card so can your Macbook. You might want to open 'Image Capture', then go to Preferences and make sure you have an application selected to 'launch' when a camera is connected.

I put this question because some days ago a Mac expert fix to me the access in my recent SwapMeet second hand aqcired iMac G3, without the original last owner password.

Apple usually does this for OSX and its great when compared to windows where it doesnt use up all the real estate for viewing applications like websites and pdf files but when it comes to iBooks, it feels like there is no apple touch to it and is limited.
If steve jobs were still alive, i bet there wouldnt be this problem >.>
Please consider this as a real problem for people out there who would like to see 2 pages in landscape mode with pdf files and not just epub files.
