Viewing ImagePrint profiles in Aperture

How can I get my ImagePrint 6.0 color profiles show up in my proofing profile menu (Aperture 1.5)?
Mac Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

Tom,
Received this reply from ColorByte support:
HI,
I'm not sure how it applies to Aperture, but with Photoshop the profiles
need to be in the Applications support folder, not the Colorsync one. (
"/library/application support/adobe/color/profiles" )
It may be the same with Aperture. I know Aperture has shown some
non-standard ways of doing things, color management wise and may have some
limitations on what proofing profiles it will recognize--one possibility
would be if you seeing only cmyk (4 color profiles) listed (ours are 3
color).
Thanks,
-Daniel Barrett

Since I am unable to determine if I have any other profiles that are 3 color, I was wondering if any one at Apple can verify this. Since Photoshop supports the IP profiles would not the solution be to code Aperture to do the same...
Thanks,
Hoku

  • ImagePrint profiles don't appear in Aperture profile lists, but do in PS

    Does anyone understand the following?
ImagePrint profiles cannot be opened by ColorSync Utility and do not appear in Aperture profile lists (even if a copy is placed directly in /Library/ColorSync/Profiles. (I suspect these are equivalent issues since both programs use some OS color sync tools.) However, Photoshop CS2 does see them.
I think ImagePrint color profiles carry some non standard information (tags?) so that the IP app can tell if the profile is meant for mat or glossy paper. PS handles this OK, but maybe the Mac OS profile reading tool is choking on the extra info?

I have the same problem, except none have appeared for weeks now, and my most recent purchases have not come down at all. I am about to call Apple support and see what they can tell me, but I'm guessing they will blame it on DNS ro something else not being correctly set up.

  • Viewing RAW images in Aperture

I cannot find a similar discussion so I'll post this.
I cannot view RAW files in Aperture since the 3.5 update to 10.9.  The files import correctly and then when I try to view them in the viewer they turn into a scrambled mess.  I have created a new Aperture library and still the problem persists.  Is anyone else having this problem and are there any fixes?
    Thanks

    Chris,
    try two things:
use the command "Photos > Reprocess Raw" from the menu bar
and use the command "Photos > Generate Thumbnails"
It looks like the thumbnails of your imported images are broken.

Is your scrambled mess red and blue? Have you perhaps enabled "View > Highlight hot and Cold areas" or "onscreen proofing" with an unsuitable color profile?
Or any presets interfering? Raw decode preset, or an effects preset in the Import panel?

  • How to use Device Profiles and Viewing Conditions Profile in Photoshop Elements 11?

In trying to get to grips with the Colour management aspects of PSE11, I have encountered the following problems:
Having selected "Display" a sequence of clicks (Change display settings -> Advanced settings -> Colour Management -> Colour Management tab -> Colour Management)
gives a screen which includes the headings:
Device Profile  and Viewing Conditions Profile.
    1. Device Profile. Besides sRGB and ARGB, the profile list includes the profiles for all of the Epson papers. (I have an Epson Stylus Photo PX810FW).
I changed the Profile to an Epson Grayscale, this was accepted within the menu, but there are no changes from normal when I viewed the image on the Windows screen or within
PSE11. ("normal" is sRGB or ARGB).
I thought it worth a try to test that, if I wanted the display image to closely represent what I would get on a particular Epson paper, this may be a way to do it.(I suspected this approach because I have never
    seen it in the literature!).
So what is the purpose of all of the paper Profiles appearing in the Display listing?
    2. The Viewing Conditions Profile has also several options. I have tried to find the criteria for choosing one rather than the other, but failed to find any information. Can anyone help? I seek general guidance
rather than the details of the Profiles.
    As a seperate question:
Selecting Image on the PSE11 menu across the top of the displayed image, and then Convert Colour Profile, I tried this process on an image, converting tiff to sRGB. When saved there was an extra asterisk in the saved title but in this case,
the file was still labelled tiff and there was no change in the number of Mbs. If a conversion has taken place, how is one to know?  Does saving a tiff file as jpeg change its colour profile? When is it useful to use this feature?
    Many thanks to all responders!

Addressing your second question, you are confusing two different things.
tiff is an image file format, as is jpeg, as is psd, as is png, as are dozens (if not hundreds, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image_file_formats) of other formats.
A colour profile represents the colour characteristics of devices so that, for example, displays know how to display the colours, printers know how to print them.
Image files MAY, but do not have to, contain colour profiles.

  • Photoshop colour profiles and Aperture

The local lab only has Photoshop colour profiles, nothing for Aperture. Any way to utilize these in Aperture?
They recommend their PS RGB profile. If I can't utilize it, I can get an image that is closer to my screen display, if I onscreen proofed using Aperture's generic RGB or sRGB modes. My last print job did not utilize any onscreen proofing beforehand and it shows -- way too blue in the print. Onscreen proofing using either of these RGB modes gets me closer in colour balance to the last print job, but contrast and brightness is still an issue (print is darker and flatter).
Any way to work with these profiles to produce my own custom one, based on a series of test prints?

A colour profile is a colour profile. Photoshop is just an app that uses them - there's no such thing as a PS-specific colour profile.
Copy the profile into either ~/Library/ColorSync/Profiles (specific to that user) or /Library/ColorSync/Profiles (all users) and it should appear in the lists for screen proofing and output profiles in Aperture.

  • How do I view folders in the aperture library through finder?

How do I view folders in the aperture library. If I look in my pictures I have the applibrary there but can't access it. If I click on it it opens Aperture and I can't find a way to find the info throught aperture either.

You can browse the contents of your Aperture Library from the Finder, but better do not change anything inside.
To look inside the Aperture Library package
Reveal the package in the Finder,
right-click or ctrl-click it and select "Show Package Contents" from the pop-up menu.
You will see a folder with subfolders containing the masters, previews, and thumbnails.
The iLife Applications will let you browse the Aperture Library through the MediaBrowser, that is much safer.
    Regards
    Léonie
P.S. If your Aperture Library is referenced, not managed, you can view the master image files by selecting the image in Aperture in the Browser or film strip, ctrl-clicking it and selecting "Show in Finder".

    Can anyone assist here?
unfortunately, there is no option yet to block/filter contact requests, regardless if they are requests from legitimate users or from possible spammers/scammers. The only things you can do at the moment is indeed to ignore and block them (and report them to abuse@skype,net).
The Privacy Settings in Skype can only prevent/stop unwanted calls/instant messages from non-contacts, not contact requests.

  • How can I view my profile information?

This really isn't a huge deal but it really bothers me...on other versions of AIM and adium I can add myself to my buddy list to see when I'm away and to read my profile information. Is there anyway to add myself to my iChat buddy list? or is there anyway to view my profile/away message like other people would if I were on their buddy list? thank you!

Only with another Buddy List using the same Server (I.e. an AIM Screen Name) or in another AIM Client such as AIM for Mac or AdiumX

  • Since upgrading to Lion, I can no longer view my previews in Aperture.

Since I updated to Lion, Aperture has been sluggish and annoying and keeps quitting on me...
However, the worst problem I have is that I cannot view the previews of most of my photos.
The files are all referenced and kept on an external hard drive.
I have checked to see if the preview files are in the Aperture library folder in my Pictures file (I looked in Show Contents...) and they all seem to be there.
When I open the projects in Aperture, the outline of the photos appear, but I can't see the images.
Does anyone have any idea why this would be and how to fix it?
    Thanks!

As a start you should update your profile it still says you are using 10.6.1 and including the Aperture version would be a good thing also. So have you upgraded to 3.2.1 yet?  If not you should.
As a start you should look at Aperture 3: Troubleshooting Basics and see i that helps.

  • Camera profiles in Aperture via free DNG 1.2 and profile editor

So last week Adobe announced LR2 and along with masses of new features, something that was not part of the marketing piece was the ability to get more accurate colour and this could possibly benefit Aperture users. Today I've just noticed an article on John Nack's blog about the new (free) DNG profile editor.
It allows for a base profile to be entered (just calibrate your camera with Color Eyes or Gretag's new color checker), then played with to suit. But basically, you'd just load your colour profile here, then NOT play with it. The profile is then used in the DNG converter, which can then be read by any RAW converter that supports DNG.
    My questions:
    1. Aperture supports DNG, but does it support DNG 1.2?
    2. Does the fact that the 'Convert to linear image' option has to be turned off impact this opportunity?
    3. Even if Aperture does read in the DNG, I assume that since it ignores the camera sensor information for things like auto noise compensation etc, it won't screw with the colour and assign its own colour (like it does with native RAW), but just use the embedded profile?
Does anyone with an in-depth experience with Aperture and DNG have any views on this? I'd love to calibrate my 1DS and 1DSII, then use the DNG converter to assign the profile and have Aperture read the files.
    http://blogs.adobe.com/jnack/2008/08/thedng_profileeditor.html

It certainly looks interesting, and addresses a number of problems people (including myself) had with Adobe's existing profiles... namely that the whole yellow/orange/red part of the spectrum was awful.
Also note the whole profiles thing is still currently in beta.
As for Aperture... it doesn't support those profiles embedded in DNGs now. In fact, it doesn't support the "picture styles" info embedded in the RAW files by Nikon or Canon either (neither did Lightroom, and this is Adobe's answer). That said, I rather like Aperture's default conversions, and you could tweak the default RAW conversion subtly and apply the effect to images as part of your process.

  • Getting runtime error while viewing the profiler analysis in TOAD

    Hi experts,
Just enabled the profiler by running the script provided by TOAD. while viewing the result in profiler analysis, i am getting the following error. Please help me.
    ORA-00904: R.RUN_PROC: invalid identifier
    Thanks in advance
    Regards,
    J.P

    Hi,
Not sure it is the correct place to post that.
The script is obviously provided by QuestSoftware, and supposed to work with Toad...
Here you are in the SQL & PL/SQL section of the Oracle Forums.
So unless you post the SQL or PL/SQL code that led to the error, you won't get much answer I guess.
    Just a blind guess :
The script is not the one for your DB version!

  • ICC Profiles and Aperture 3

There has been some discussion about Snow Leopard not recognizing Version 4 ICC Profiles. Although I am working with Leopard (10.5.8) I am having printing problems, prints that look as though they aren't profiled or double profiled. My custom profiles are Version 4. Does Aperture 3 recognize Version 4 ICC Profiles, or only Version 2?

Nevr mind. I built a version 2 profile and got the same bad results.
