Viewing Images in Design view

Well I've been working on my site prior to getting
dreamweaver, and I open the .html of one of my pages, but it
doesn't show anything but the images in a grey box and text in
tables. When I preview in a browser it looks perfect though, is
design view supposed to be like this? Also whether it makes a
difference or not, the .html is already uploaded on my site so my
image links are www.website.com/img/image.gif
I also included a screenshot, just incase I don't make sense.

Does any 1 know how i can enable my split to be able to
select a image from the design mode window with mouse, and have it

I have just upgraded to CS3 and in DW MX2004 i could select
HTML from the code view , and attribute would highlight in the
design view, and visa versa with the design mode, ..
But atm all i can do is highlight and right click the text
or image in the design view window when in split mode, to find the
HTML for that selected, and it wont allow me to view the selected
text or image in the design window, when i highlight the HTML ... i

Any hints on how to fix this would be very much appreciated

    ChAoTiC,
That works for me on WinXP. After selecting your image in
    Design View,
try hitting Ctrl+` on Win or Cmd+` on Mac to switch focus to
    the Code
    Pane. Does that work?

  • Cannot preview remote image in design view

    Hi,
I am using Dreamweaver 2004 MX and has just inserted an image referencing to a remote server.
However, Dreamweaver is unable to preview the image and only a small gray box can be observed.
I can preview it when the page in browser.
    What's wrong with my DW?
    Thanks

I'm not sure whether Dreamweaver MX 2004 has the ability to display external images in Design view. In Dreamweaver CS4, you turn this feature on and off by selecting Commands > Display External Files. If that option isn't available on your Commands menu, it means your version of Dreamweaver doesn't support the display of external files.
Unfortunately not, David. Handling external links was not introduced until DW8 (one after MX 2004).
Commands > Display External Files was introduced in the 8.0.1 updater for DW8 to enable this new (at the time) feature to be switched off.

  • Images in design mode don't draw their source from the correct directory?

I'm using flex builder 3 in os x. I've only recently started
using flex but this seems pretty odd. In design mode I drag an
image onto a panel. It starts out with no source, so of course it's
    a broken image icon.
If I put my image into the 'bin' directory then I have to
enter the source of the image as 'bin/image.jpg' to make it show up
in the design view. But then when I 'Run' the project the image is
    broken.
If I enter the source as 'image.jpg' then it doesn't show up
in design mode, but it does show up when I run the project. Thus it
appears that in design mode the 'current' directory is the main
project directory whereas when starting the project the main
directory is the 'bin' directory where it creates the swf.
The only way I can make this work reasonably well seems to be
to put the image in both the main project AND in the bin directory
by hand. Of course that's a maintenance nightmare.
What am I SUPPOSED to do? (other than embed the image in the
    swf)

I always have this damn problem and I'm getting very tired of
it. And I AM embedding my images using [Embed] - same situation
still. I'm doing exactly what Adobe says to do for embedding images
    here:
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flex/quickstart/embedding_assets/
Still, it finds the assets when I run, but all I get is
    broken images in design mode.
Design mode is broken in FB3. I don't remember what crazy
things I tried to get past this problem in the past, but I'm worn
out troubleshooting design mode path problems... image assets,
fonts, css, whatever. There is a bunch of threads in this forum
with people having similar issues, with no responses. I've spent
alot of time researching and troubleshooting these kinds of
    problems - probably hours worth.
Adobe, what is the story with Design mode?

  • Fuzzy images in Designer

We have noticed that the XDP output generated by Designer seems to add fuzziness to otherwise clean and crisp JPG images that were created expressly to fit into the available space as indicated by Designer at Designer's preferred screen resolution. IE, even images that were sized exactly and are not scaled or stretched within Designer end up being fuzzy.
Has anyone else noticed a similar, distinct degradation in the quality of their JPG images when placed in a form? If so--and if you were able to fix it--what did you do?
Thanks very much for any suggestions,
    Kristina

Yup... noticeable. I don't understand why perfectly exported/printed vector graphics, from Adobe Illustrator for example, to PDF files when imported into Designer is frustratingly impossible. I hate pixelated graphics... too bad there's just no other way to have crisp images with Designer. I just don't understand why even .eps isn't supported in the first place.

  • Why, since CS6 does DW now use ABSOLUTE image paths when dragging images into Design View from a folder in Finder?!

While I am grateful the previous issue I had with not being able to drag files into design view at all (in CC and CC2014) was resolved.
Guys (Adobe), seriously, if you're going to change the functioning of something that used to work just fine, at least supply a way for a user to revert to the old way... I absolutely loathe that I need a legacy version of DW to continue with my current workflow. Please put it back to the way it was, or at least allow a user to chose between the two behaviours.
If there is a way to do this, without using the Site Manager (which still doesn't work from Finder even with relative to document selected), I would appreciate any guidance.
As for using the Site Manager (before some smart guy suggests that I just use that) I do not wish to navigate to and create up to 20 "sites" a week and wait for DW to cache them all, when I am already in the folder with the image assets in Finder.
Also before someone pipes up and says: "You shouldn't be diving sites in design view anyway", I don't... I develop many, many newsletters every week and the folder structure is such that navigation to the actual image folder using the Site Manager would be painful at best.
I don't really like having to and replace all instances of "file:///Users/me/Work/company/Mailers/Year/wk14/mailer/dev/img/prod5.jpg". It is horrendously wasteful, time-wise.
Thanks in advance for any helpful replies

Sorry Murray, DW used to have an idea, my point is that since CS6 its developed a case of Amnesia.
The "elements" are in the "root" folder as follows:
    newslettername.htm
    img
         imagename.jpg
So the relative path would be <img src"img/imagename.jpg" />
    However since the change: <img src"file:///Users/me/work/Company/year/week/campaign/img/imagename.jpg" />
Which is completely useless and needs to be corrected before I upload the html anywhere.
As for using the site directory, I did answer that in my initial post. I use a laptop, I really don't want a site manager taking half my screen just so I can see the folder structure and navigate with that, especially since I am already at the files I need in Finder.
Again, this is something that used to work just fine in previous iterations of DW, so I don't believe Adobe is incapable of fixing it nor am I being unreasonable asking for a choice for those that may find the local absolute paths useful in some way. All I want is to be able to chose not to use absolute paths when dragging from Finder.

  • DW CS3 problem with PNG-8 images in Design View?

DW CS3 (build 3481) on XP seems to have problems with PNG-8 images, specifically trying to display them in design view.
I had a very simple image that was able to be exported by Fireworks CS4 as PNG-8 using 4 colors (no transparency) for a tiny file size under 250 bytes.
DW could not display it at all, or even recognize it, reporting it was 0 x 0 in size. I published the page anyway, and it looked fine in the browser.
I upped the number of colors to 32, and DW could then display it in design view in the page I was working on.
I'm still having problems with other PNG-8 images. The attached file "temp.jpg" is a screenshot showing part of the design view in DW.
The smaller image on the left of the banner is "58_certificate_of_discharge.png" (attached), and the larger image below is used as the background of the DIV containing the form,"compassbk.png" (also attached).
These images all look fine in the browser, but terrible in DW.
    I'm stumped as to why.
    Thanks in advance.

According to a different discussion, the images that are stuck as "Queued" are showing a bug in the virus scanning on the forums.
Now trying the recommended 'camera icon' method...
    Looks like it worked.
Now compare what it looks like in DW CS3 in the design view:
    It's a 16 color PNG-8 made in Fireworks CS4 with no transparency, size is 113 x 58, ending up at 1.71K.
If this is a repeatable problem in CS3, is there any hope of it being resolved, or am I stuck with upgrading to CS4 as my only option (assuming it's fixed in CS4)?
    Thanks.

  • Why is Image in design view but not in browser?

Why when I insert an image from root folder it shows in design but not in live view or browser? I have opened a new blank html page and still no image will show up.

Do you have an editable region in your main Template head tags?
Just so you know.  Making a template out of an HTML document is just about the last step in your design process.
First build your prototype.html page so that everything performs well in all browsers.  When you're completely satisfied with how it looks, then Save As Template.dwt.
Add editable regions for content that will change from page to page.
Spawn New page from template and save as index.html for your home page.  Repeat for other site pages.

  • Root relative images and design view

I have many sites that have root relative image paths
(src="\images\sample.gif") that I've coded by hand in DW8.
I don't use design view that much, buy one of our designers
does. The problem is none of the images with root-relative paths
    will appear in design view.
I have specified valid paths in my site definitions, so
    what's the issue?

    > I have specified valid paths in my site definitions, so
    what's the issue?
Hard to say - perhaps the developer's site is not properly
    defined. There
should be no issue displaying root relative linked images in
    DW's Design
view, since DW knows where the root of the site is. What is
    in the HTTP
address field of the local site definition?

  • Problem with Scrollable image in design view.

So I have defined I want my layout to be scrollable, and that works when I preview it. But the problem is it is not scrollable in design view. Why is this? is there away to fix this?
    Thank's in advance.

Design View doesn't process code like a brower does. It's primarily used for viewing layout.
    Hence the name Design View.
You want to click on Live View while in Design View

  • Poor Image Quality -- Design View & Published Content (CP8)

If I prepare a high-quality image, picture perfect, sharp, sized to let's say 500 x 500 px in Photoshop  (max JPG quality setting) and then dump into Captivate, I find that Captivate significantly degrades the image quality.  It changes the sharpness of the image and destroys exposure settings like colour saturation and hue.  Even if I publish to an LMS with 24-bit, no compression, it still looks degraded.
Is there any way to improve image quality?

I am on PC, not on Mac and have used this feature all the time since (not totally sure) version 5. Maybe it is a Mac bug?
This is a screenshot, I imported a Photoshop file 'IconsTips' and choose to import Layers as images, you'll see the folder with 6 images.

I'm using images on a AIR project, I see them in the compiled file but they're not loaded inside the Design window of Flash Builder.
Is it possible to display that images directly inside Flash Builder, avoiding to compile the project everytime I have to make a check on the images?

    Babu,
Do search the forum before putting the issues. This issue has been discussed many times.

  • Need help placing image behind design

I am currently designing a DVD case for a wedding client. I have everything on it completed, except that I cannot send the picture behind the design, so that it is only visible through the circular opening.
I've tried rearranging layers, changing visibility, everything.
This unfortunately won't let me attach a screen grab of the photoshop window, hopefully my description is clear. Thanks so much in advance!

    Hi Amunzphotography,
Unfortunately I am not sure what is the problem here. If you are rearranging the layers that should do the trick.
Could you take a look at this document, it explains how to share screenshots on the forums.

  • How to point to a url when clicking on an image in Designer ES4?

Hi, I'd like to place a Facebook logo on my form and by clicking on the image it will open the browser and reach my Facebook page.
So I placed an image field and fetch the url of the Facebook logo; The image of the logo displays fine. However, I have no idea how to make the image clickable so it opens the browser and reach my Facebook page.
Thanks in advance for your help.

    Hi,
I think you will have to place a button with no appearance and no border overtop of the image control (so they have to have a container subform with positioned layout).  Then in the click event of the button use the app.launchURL(url, true); command to open the facebook page.
