Viewing iweb on a windows computer

I have created a website in iweb and have it published to my .mac account. I have also published it to a folder and then burned it to a dvd disk. For a course requirement, I need for the website to open automatically when the disk is inserted in windows. Is this possible? I have tried to insert an autorun file created in windows notepad but it did not seem to convert when I brought the file over to the mac.

Mark, assuming you have correctly set up your calendar to publish to .Mac, you can access it using the following address:
To access a published calendar with a web browser, type the URL using this format (where username is your .Mac member name, and CalendarName is the name or your calendar):
http://ical.mac.com/username/CalendarName/
For example, if your .Mac member name is "steve" and you published a calendar named "Work," the URL for your published calendar will be:
http://ical.mac.com/steve/Work/
Please note that the calendar name is case-sensitive; in other words, if you named your calendar "Work," be sure to capitalize the W in the URL.

  • Getting iWeb site to Windows computer

    Hi!
    I've made a site for a friend in iWeb and saved it as a folder on my desktop. I tried to send it to him, but he couldn't open it properly. Not even with Firefox which was said to be working in another thread about this. What do I do then? He's the one who has gotta upload it to his server so he need to be able to see it - doesn't he?
    Thanks!

    I'm guessing that the photos were converted to png files. In the photo page do not add any enhancement to the photos, borders, strokes, drop shadow, reflection, or anything like that. That should keep them as jpgs. Also use web safe fonts for the titles and they will remain as text instead of getting converted to png files. Here are some tips I've learned from this forum:
    1 - do not use and frames or borders, etc. around photos.
    2 - don't use any reflections.
    3 - create your own navigation bar with linked text* and turn of the iWeb Navigation bar. The nav bar is all png based.
    4 - use only the web safe fonts from the Font pane.
    5 - do not use drop shadow on fonts.
    6 - turn off smart quotes.
    The above will reduce the number and size of files associated with a web page quite a bit. Photos with fancy frames and reflections can generate a thumbnail png of around 110KB whereas the plain version will be a jpg of only 28KB. Although it doesn't sound like a lot, it will speed up loading of the page and be more darkside (i.e. PC) friendly.
    Run a test with a test site and publish to a folder. Then follow the hints above and publish to another folder and compare folders.
    *Put your linked text directly under the Navigation bar. Then turn off the nav bar in the Inspector window. The nav bar will disappear and the linked text will move up to the top of the page.
    You might try some of them to see if you can't get the page more darkside (err that's PC) compatible.

  • Windows Computer Hardware view

    Hi
    I am trying for a Type proection View to get all Windows Computer information along with their Machine Hardware
    I could not find a suitable Relationship Classes for making this Type projection work.
    What i tried was
    TypeProjections>
            <TypeProjection ID="ComputerHardware.ProjectionType" Accessibility="Public" Type="Windows!Microsoft.Windows.Computer">
              <Component Path="$Context/Path[Relationship='ConfigurationManager!Microsoft.SystemCenter.ConfigurationManager.DeployedComputerRunsWindowsComputer' SeedRole='Target']$" Alias="PhysicalComputer"
    />
              <Component Path="$Context/Path[Relationship='SystemHW!System.ComputerHardwareRunsComputer']$" Alias="ComputerHardware" />
              <Component Path="$Context/Path[Relationship='Windows!Microsoft.Windows.ComputerHostsOperatingSystem']$" Alias="OperatingSystem" />

              <Component Path="$Context/Path[Relationship='System!System.ConfigItemOwnedByUser']$" Alias="Custodian" />
              <Component Path="$Context/Path[Relationship='System!System.ConfigItemRelatesToConfigItem']$" Alias="RelatedConfigItem" />
              <Component Path="$Context/Path[Relationship='System!System.ConfigItemRelatesToConfigItem' SeedRole='Target']$" Alias="RelatedConfigItemSource" />
            </TypeProjection>
          </TypeProjections>
    But this does not work stating with the error unable to find mp element for Hardware.
    If i remove Hardware related class and import, it does not give me the columns for hardware as it was multivalued and cannot be done through AVP 2.0 (need pro version with cost).
    I wish to have all Windows Components + Hardware information Columns for Display.  What is the best way to provide this AD computer info + Hardware info in a single view

  • IPad Safari FAILS to correctly view iWeb Pages

    If you view this address on your computer, you get everything correct, but if you view the same iWeb-generated site on an iPad, many of the pages are screwed up:
    hdslrreview.com
    Why is this? Is it a failure of the iPad, iPad Safari or iWeb itself?
    (iPad 32 GB)

    Clearly, we are all going to need updates to the 1.0 software. There is a site that I access that is used for communication. There is a reply window and I cannot type into that window using the iPad tho it works just fine from my other Macs. I was on another site and things did not line up correctly on my iPad screen. This iPad is a work in progress and it will require some patience while Apple works to resolve issues like this one and others.

  • Transfer iweb files from one computer to another

    Does anyone know how to transfer iweb files from one computer to another?

    Change the name of the file to Domain-2.sites2 and try to copy it to the Desktop on the new Mac.
    To open your domain file in Lion or Mountain Lion or to switch between multiple domain files Cyclosaurus has provided us with the following script that you can make into an Applescript application with Script Editor. Open Script Editor, copy and paste the script below into Script Editor's window and save as an application.
    do shell script "/usr/bin/defaults write com.apple.iWeb iWebDefaultsDocumentPath -boolean no"delay 1
    tell application "iWeb" to activate
    You can download an already compiled version with this link: iWeb Switch Domain.
    Just launch the application, find and select the domain file in your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder that you want to open and it will open with iWeb. It modifies the iWeb preference file each time it's launched so one can switch between domain files.
    WARNING: iWeb Switch Domain will overwrite an existing Domain.sites2 file if you select to create a new domain in the same folder.  So rename your domain files once they've been created to something other than the default name.
    NOTE: In Lion and Mountain Lion the Home/Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible in Lion or Mt. Lion enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and press the Return key - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
    For Mavericks, 10.9,  go to your Home folder and use the View ➙ Show View Optionsmenu to bring the this window:

  • Best way to screen sahre from a remote Windows computer

    The title says it all...
    While at work I am forced to use a Windows computer...is there a way to access my server and screen share with my server and it's connected computers noting that I am looking for an Apple specific solution [i.e. I don't want to use Team Viewer, LogMeIn or anything along those lines] particularly given this is one of the main reasons I am setting up a server in the first place...
    I know that I can VPN into my server but how do I then screen share...help  please...
    Thanks,
    Joel

    If you've correctly forwarded the port, that should work. But it would be safer to connect through the VPN, rather than leaving the Screen Sharing service exposed to the Internet.
    I don't use Windows and I can't recommend a Windows VNC client.
    Linc:
    Appreciate the response, a few more follow ups:
    1.  Agree, the preferred and more secure method would be to VPN into the OS X Server and then initiate the VNC client.  But, if I follow this approach / method then
    a.) Is my understanding correct that I need not open Port 5900 on the router because I will already be connected to the OS X Server?
    b) Should the answer to 1a) be correct than how does the VNC client know to initiate / launch the screen sharing request on the OS X Server instead of the Windows machine?
    2.  Is the general approach / method for accessing services outside of the network to connect via VPN and then proceed from there once connected to the OS X Server and this approach is more secure because i) there are fewer ports open to the internet [i.e. only the VPN port needs to be left open] ad ii) VPN connections are in themselves secure relative to others?
    3.  With an Airport Extreme Router in place does this mean that when I initiate an OS X Server service [i.e. screen sharing] that I should therefore reverse / undo the automatic opening of the external ports?
    Thanks,
    Joel
    While related to the previous approach [i.e. tunneling in through the VNC client] , any added information or insight you could provide as to how / why the VNC client's request to the OS X Server will be directed to the OS X Server's screen sharing port and thus initiate a screen sharing session would be greatly appreciated as I am struggling with this part.

  • Connecting to windows computer

    Hello, i have turned on my file sharing thing on network preferences and i can locate and connect to my windows computer to save work but i cant locate my mac on my windows computer to view shared files.
    I do have shared folders setup
    I even tried to find the mac on my workgroup
    What do i do to find my mac on my WinXP computer?

    In your Sharing panel, did you go into "Options" and check the box for sharing via SMB?
    Then from XP you should be able to reach the Mac via //(ip# or DNS name)/
    and you should see the available shares.

  • DVD burner on windows computer

    Hello,
    I have created a clip with iMovie 4 using my ibook. However, I only have the Combo drive and not the Super drive. Hence I cannot directly burn DVD from my ibook. I do have a PC desktop computer with Windows platfrom connected with a DVD burner.
    So my questions are:
    1) how do I export my iMovie file to burn on the DVD burner on the Windows PC desktop computer.
    2) can I burn my iMovie file as a VCD from my ibook's Combo drive, so that I can view the VCD on my DVD player.
    Thank heaps for the help in advance.

    I encounter the similar issue but in my situation I transfered all the fcp document files to my windows desktop computer over the network to free up some space on my mac, thinking I would be able to use the files later on on my mac thru the network. The files aren't shown in fcp file types but in exec, it wont open using imovie or final cut pro. Just wondering if there's a way to make it work. In another words can u use a windows computer to store fcp document files and then access it from a Mac over a network?

  • Viewing Nano contents through My Computer (Win 7)

    The choices of wallpapers on the 6th generation Nano is very limited (and to me personally, very boring). Is there a way to add new wallpapers to the list?
    I tried adding my wallpapers from my computer to the photos folder on the Nano, and they did show up. However, there was no option with the photo viewer to set the current photo as your background, nor did my wallpapers show up in the wallpaper choices in the settings for the Nano itself.
    (Through manually searching around this place I found my answer - no, you can't add new wallpapers. What a load of help the search function did before - I tried that first before posting here, but it came up with nothing. My question below still stands though...)
    When I go to view the contents of my Nano through My Computer (yes, I use Windows - don't hate me!), all it comes up with is a file named ".metadata_never_index." Is there a way to view the contents through My Computer instead of through iTunes?
    If you need any further info to help me answer this question, just ask.

    The Music folder is hidden inside of a hidden folder called iPod_Control.  You need to enable hidden files and folders on your Windows XP machine first.  See this link for instructions on how to do this.

  • HT201077 Photo Stream website not showing on Windows Computer

    I was able to set up a photo stream and make it a public website, but I can't see it on a Windows Computer.  It only hangs while it is trying to load.  I am able to view the website from an Mac.  Any ideas why it isn't working from a Windows computer?

    First check the my photo stream album on your phone to confirm that the photos appear there.  If they don't, the issue is with your phone not adding them to photo stream.  If the do, some things you can try on your PC are listed below.  After each one, try adding a new photo on your phone, then see if it appears on your PC after a brief delay.
    Going to control panel>programs>programs and features, right-click on "iCloud" on the programs list and choose Repair.
    Do the same thing except this time choose Delete, then reinstall the iCloud control panel for Windows from here: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1455 (or here if you're running Vista: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1687).
    Make sure you didn't change the default location to save the photo stream photos on your PC.  If you did, sign out on the iCloud control panel, then sign back in and enable photo stream without changing the defaults.

  • TS3354 What is the solution for the error message when playing movies on a windows computer that doesn't support HDCP?

    How do I make my Windows computer Dell Latitude E7440 play the movies I just purchased? I am getting the message, "To play this movie in HD, your PC must have Windows 7 and a built-in display or a display that supports HDCP."
    Is there a fix or solution ot this problem? Please help!

    Hello Mendeezee,
    Depending on the age of the monitor, you may not be able to playback any HD content that is purchased in iTunes. One way to check is to download the SD version that comes with the HD version. Check out the articles below for more clarification.
    iTunes for Windows: Unable to view or play HD video content that requires HDCP
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3354
    iTunes: Purchasing and viewing HD videos
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3209
    In iTunes for Windows, in order to view HD content, both the display hardware (computer screen, LCD, external monitor, and so on) and video card driver must support HDCP.
    Note: Depending on your computer's hardware limitations, you may be unable to purchase, rent, or view HD content from the iTunes Store. If you are trying to view HD video on an external display, the display must have a digital connection (DVI, DisplayPort, or HDMI) and support HDCP.

  • My Windows Computer Crashed, Can I save the songs on my iPod?

    My Windows computer just crashed and all info is lost, so I just bought a new Mac to replace it. Is there any way for me to transfer the songs that are currently on my iPod to my new Mac?

    I've had to do this a few times, and what has worked for me is to find a program that shows hidden files. I use a Mac (G3 iBook), so my program of choice is called TinkerTool (there's a free trial version available). Whatever you choose, you can probably find a free version of software that will allow you to view hidden files.
    In any case, I don't know if this will work for you since you were running Windows when you put the songs on your iPod, and I think that means your iPod has a different format. Still, I would try to see if revealing hidden files shows the contents of your iPod. You will also need to make sure that it is setup to work as an external hard-drive (I don't know how this works with Windows, but it's just a preference under the iPod preference panel in iTunes).
    The caveat is that the files on the iPod are not labeled in a particularly coherent way, but, if your main goal is retrieval, this isn't really an issue. Besides, from my experience, iTunes knows what the files are once you have imported them, so it's not such a big deal that you can't identify them on the iPod.
    I hope you find something that works!
