Viewing JPG's in LR vs. Other photo viewers

I finished processing a photo within LR, converted to JPG and it looked great. Sent it to the client and they were less happy with it.
I finally realized they were viewing the photo using MS Picture Manager and I view via LR. The JPG looked great in LR..just as it looked when I converted. Within MS Picture Manager however, it is much more orange looking and was unacceptable.
Why is this? ...and what advice from does anyone have as to sharing sending out proofs of your work to clients and ensure they are seeing the photo's you intend.
thanks

As long as your clients don't have a color managed system you can't do anything because you don't know their system and settings. Send them proof prints. That's the only safe way or invite them to your office/home and present the images on your system.
If your clients don't have a proper monitor profile and a color managed app to view your images you have no chance to know what they see.
In the windows world it is the same problem on the web because there exist no browser with color management.

  • Cannot view .jpgs created in QuickTime in other apps

Used the Movie to Picture feature to create still shots from one of my movies. While I can view the files in QuickTime, I cannot see them in any other app that typically views .jpg files.
    Any ideas???

Open the QT control panel and un-select what you don't want QT to handle. If that doesn't work. Open the Folder Options control panel in XP OS and go to the File Types tab and change what application you want the file type to be handled with

  • How do I create a photo in jpg or other photo format from a frame within iMovie11.  The suggestion I have found from earlier versions of iMovie does not create a jpg file that can be revealed in Finder. Help please.

How do I create a photo in jpg or other photo format from a frame in iMovie. The previous suggestions on here do not create a jpg file when you chose reveal in finder when using iMovie11 and OS X

First, get an app called MPEG Streamclip, which is free. (google MPEG Streamclip from Squared 5)
    Open MPEG Streamclip.
In iMovie, select the clip you need. Then, right-click/Reveal in Finder.
Drag this clip into MPEG Streamclip
In MPEG Streamclip, move the playhead to the frame you want.
In MPEG Streamclip, click FILE/EXPORT FRAME.
Choose JPEG, TIFF, or PNG and give it a name.
You can then drag this photo into iPhoto.
Here is a video I made that steps through this...

  • Viewing jpg removed from library - without a MAC.

I do not currently have access to my Mac but I needed to view a few photos within an iPhoto library that had been backed up onto a CD.
Unfortunately the images that I wanted in the library did not seem to be viewable. Half of the jpgs were ok but the other half were not able to viewed.
The unix error message is "Not a JPEG file: starts with 0x00 0x00"
Is there anyway that I can see these photos without my mac at the moment?

Yes, and no. Exporting from iPhoto gives you perfectly transportable file. Burning an album from within iPhoto does pretty much imply that you intend to use the resulting product with iPhoto -- a normal CD full of JPGs doesn't automatically appear among your albums, but an iPhoto CD does.

My wife and I each have an apple computer and an iPhone.  Setting them up with the iCloud put us on the same account.  I take a lot of photos on job sites and she takes her own photos we have to scan though each others photos to find our own.  How do I separate the accounts without one of us losing our own stuff?

Decide which device will be changing accounts.  On that device, if you have any photos in photo stream that are not in your camera roll that you want to keep on the device, save them to the camera roll by opening the photo stream album in the thumbnail view, tapping Edit, then tap all the photos you want to save, tap Share and tap Save to Camera Roll.
Once this is done, go to Settings>iCloud, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account.  (This will only delete the account from this phone, not from iCloud.  The device(s) that will be keeping the account will not be effected by this.)  When prompted about what to do with the iCloud data, be sure to select Keep On My iDevice.  Next, set up a new iCloud account using a different Apple ID (if you don't have one, tap Get a Free Apple ID at the bottom).  Then turn iCloud data syncing back to On, and when prompted about merging with iCloud, choose Merge.  This will upload the data to the new account.
Finally, to delete any data that you don't want in each account (such as deleting your wife's data from your account, and vice versa) you will have to go to icloud.com on your computer and sign into each iCloud account separately and manually delete it.

  • How do i view photos in macbook pro, and while viewing how can i delete the unwanted photos with delete button?

1 My questions are about viewing and managing photos from a folder.
    a. How do i view photos in macbook pro - i know the space bar thingy but does not help my purpose?
    b. While viewing how can i delete the unwanted photos with delete button?
    c. How can i increase the size of the photos that i am seeing in the form of icons?

double clicking in iPhoto will open the photo.
The left and right arrow key will move between photos, as well as swiping on a trackpad or Apple mouse.
See >System Preference>Trackpad or mouse  for options and tut
While selected or in the smaller icon view hitting the Delete key will delete the pic.
Command Z will undo the last action taken.
Periodically you have to empty the iPhoto trash.  iPhoto drop down menu>empty trash
Same applies for viewing pics in a Folder NOT in iphoto,  Use the up and down arrows does not work in Preview, but as you know in QuickLook (spacebar) the up and down arrows will navigate.

Updated iPad 2 last night.  All movies (9) on my iPad can no longer be viewed.  The movie plays but the photos and scene selection are blank. How do I fix this

Quit the app and restart the iPad.
In order to quit or close apps - Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Quit/close open apps by double tapping the home button and the task bar will appear with all of you recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner to close the apps. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
    Try the videos app again.

  • Can't view jpg on iPad in outlook email

Can't view jpg on iPad in outlook email

No because I can't get to the point where it prompts me for open in. As soon as I tab the file in the mail server, the file is replaced by the message:
    Please wait.....
If this message is not eventually replaced by the proper contents of the document, your PDF viewer may not be able to display this type of document.
    You can upgrade......
When I tab on the arrow in the upper right hand corner of Adobe I can mail a document sans problem, but I can't open one that way.  I moved the files to google+ and then opened it in the adobe app but now the file it opens is the message, not the file I downloaded from inbox.

  • Is it possible to import a pdf instead of a jpg to put in the base "photo layer?"

Is it possible to import a pdf instead of a jpg to put in the base "photo layer?"
I start with a pdf document convert it to a jpg
         mark it up in ideas
then finish up with a marked up  jpg document
then reconvert it back to a pdf
I can only use jpgs in ideas. Converting the pdf to a jpg and them re convert it back after marking it up but this seems like an awfully round about way of doing things especially as it should all be inhouse adobe products .
An alternative would be to use adobe reader to mark up the document, but this does not allow me enough control as compared with marking it up Ideas, particularly with layers and control of the tools.
What I am trying to do is mark up and scribble over my architectual CAD drawings which are exported as a pdf document.
Any one got any bright ideas?
    thanks
    Brian C.

    Hi Brian,
Saving as PDF it is not currently possible.I created the following feature request on your behalf. Please add your vote and any comments you would like see included
    http://forums.adobe.com/ideas/1973
I also considered recommending Adobe Debut, it is currently only available on Android and might only work if you presenting the markup data from the tablet itself. You can import a multi-page PDF and add markups to the various pages and present the document to someone from the tablet, not sure if that would be useful for you or not?

  • Colors off in Preview when viewing JPG's with sRGB profiles

I have a 30" Dell monitor and my display preferences are set to use the calibrated profile for it. When I view JPGs images in any color managed application such as Preview the colors are horribly off. They are kind of dull, unsaturated, pale. JPG's that don't have sRGB profiles show up fine.
I can fix the problem in photoshop by opening the image and then doing a save for web which strips the profile information off of the jpg.
If I use sRGB as my monitor's profile colors are consistent across all applications but the problem is the colors are really bad. Extremely over contrasty and very dark.
What's going on with my color profiles?

    Hi topmodelphotography ..
If you're keen about running the right profiles - please don't mess up the way you do. The sRGB profile that you're using is showing a narrower color space (value 0-16 of blacks are out). The sRGB profile is mainly used for consumer monitors in the cheap end where contrast conditions are worse that expensive and professional displays to present contents in a similar way across manufacturers. If you should use any predefined color profile, please use Adobe (1998) profiling.
best practive is calibrating your monitor with a good calibrator and use these profiles.
In System Preferences you should set up the calibrated profile and the same goes for all Adobe apps under Color Settings.
    Useful reading concerning Color Profiles:

Your issue with Preview is most likely due to erroneous setup in System Settings. otherwise try and disable Dithering in Preview.
And don't use Save for Web if you intend to keep at least a minor part of your colors in your images. Use TIFF's where possible (without 'upgrading' images from compressed formats such as JPEG's, GIF's, etc.)

  • I took pictures on my iphone when it was on the lock screen and now I can't view the pictures in all of my photos. How do I view them?

I took pictures on my iphone when it was on the lock screen and now I can't view the pictures in all of my photos. How do I view them?

If you go to the Photos app, is there content in the Photo Library? These would be pictures that are synced to the phone from the computer. Photos in the camera roll are those that you take with the phone, or save from email, MMS on the phone. What type of pictures are you trying to get rid of? If you are trying to get rid of the synced photos, you need to connect to iTunes, select the iPhone in the device pane, then go to the Photo tab in iTunes and remove the check mark by sync.

  • IPhoto 6.0.5 Thumbnails pics over the top of other photos

I have just returned to my Macbook Pro after a break and in viewing recent photos noticed some were distorted, squashed in shape , and even superimposed over the top of other pics. In other words when viewing in the Library source you see a thumbnail size pic which is not the photo that has been recently imported -
dbl click on it and you get the grey square with an ! mark in the centre.
2/. when selecting an album I get photos mixed with other photos that have no connection with the album. Some of those photos are equally squashed in shape. In fact I have just gone thru all my albums and see they have all been intermingled with photos from other albums.
3/. The roll numbers have also jumped numerically from say 289, 290, 291, to numbers starting 816,817, etc.!!!
Are my problems major in that I should move to trash and start again hopefully importing from my iPod or is there a simple!!! explanation and cure.
    All help will be appreciated.
    Alan

    To TD,
Thanks for your helpful reply. I have now rebuilt my iPhoto library as you suggested.
However, I have not found out why my film rolls are being numbered so inconsistently. As I mentioned they were going along fine in a numerical sequence when they started jumping from 3xxs to 8xxs for no apparent reason. In fact having removed some dud pics in the 8xxs range and re-importing from my digital camera (fortunately I hadn't removed them from the flash card) I see my film roll Nos. are going from the 3xxs and jumping to 12xxs & 13xxs !!
Are there any answers to this problem? and can I re-number the rolls or is there some underlying danger in trying to do that?
    All help will be appreciated

  • No Thumbnails with other photo apps (gorillacam, cppro, etc..) issue

When I use any app other than the included camera app to take a photo there is no thumbnail when I import them to my computer with Adobe Elements Uploader or open the folder to my iphone and view them in the folder. Older photo thumbnails are there but new images thumbnails taken with other apps are not. The thumbnail is a blank gray square. If you double click the blank thumbnail it will open in Windows Photo Viewer and you see the image fine but you can't tell what image you are opening because there is no thumbnail. This occurred after the OS 4 upgrade on my 3GS iphone. This is also occuring on my husband's iphone as well after the upgrade so it isn't just mine.

    Same here.
Iphone 4, not jailbroken, with latest revision of iOS4 and I only can see the thumbnails of the photos that I take with the native camera app or the thumbnails of the videos (edited or not). If I use camera+ or try to edit any photo with any app I lost the thumbnails (so far I tested PhotoForge, PhotoGene, CropForFree, Photo Utility & ToonPaint). I tested it with iPhoto on my iMac and with the microsoft camera & scanner wizard on my PC.
This issue didn't happen with my iPad so I must agree with anilsudhakaran and conclude that with the last iOS update the way the metadata is stored changed and the apps dont or cant write it correctly thus the loss of the thumbnails.
I hope this is solved fast, is really a bother to import your photos without seeing what are you importing!

  • I CANNOT VIEW JPG ON IPAD1.  I COULD, BUT NO I CANNOT.  WHY?

I cannot view jpg on ipad.  I could, but now I cannot.  Why?

Try a Reset [Hold the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons down together for 10 seconds or so (until the Apple logo appears) and then release. The screen will go blank and then power ON again in the normal way.] It is app and data safe!

  • Since March 2012 my iphoto 11 trash folder says that I have 13,346 photos in the iphoto trash, but there are no thumb nail copies in the viewer window.  I can delete additional photos but clicking on the "empty trash" button.  Any solutions?

Since March 2012 my iphoto 11 trash folder says that I have 13,346 photos in the iphoto trash, but there are no thumb nail copies in the viewer window.  I can delete additional photos but clicking on the "empty trash" button.
My system trash finally emptied when I discovered "trash it!" is not longer supported by the most recent osx.  Then I found an updated version of Onyx that did work with that trash emptying problem.
I have a total of 5,723 photos in my library.  A macdevelopers group recently started suggesting a multi library manager for iphoto to overcome some kind of library quota limitations with iphoto as opposed to "more advanced" photo handling, storing and editing programs.  If I went to a mult library manager for iphoto would that cure the apparent incongruent data retrieval problem in iphoto 11 regarding 13,346 phantom photos that will not securely delete?
Are there any other possible solutions out there?

    Try the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
User/Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder (Snow Leopard and Earlier).
or with Lion and Mt. Lion from the User/Library/Containers/com.apple.iPhoto/
    Data/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder
3 - launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE 1: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto.  You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
NOTE 2:  In Lion and Mountain Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
