Viewing Large PowerPoint File

We are moving from Palm Treos to iPhones and I have a user concerned about viewing PowerPoints. How does a user view a PowerPoint (or any large file) in an iPhone which is too large to email? Average 50MB.
In the Treos we upload the file and open it from its drive.

If you can put those Powerpoint files to a Web page accessible for iPhone user, you can just view Powerpoint file from a web link.

  • Problems viewing large tif files in preview

i'm having trouble viewing large tif files in preview. the tif files are on a cdrom - when i click on the file to open it, it opens only the first 250 pages of the file. the file has approximately 3,000 pages. how can i get preview to open the rest of the pages?
    thanks for any suggestions.
mac mini   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

no trick - i didn't create the cdrom but it only has 3 tif files with approximately 3000 pages each, not 3000 large tif files. plus several smaller pdf files, but those aren't giving me any problems.
i don't know whether they're compressed, but i still can't get more than the first 250 pages to open, even after copying the file to my desktop. if anyone has any other ideas, i'd much appreciate it.

  • [SOLVED] Viewing Large tiff files.

    Hi Arch Users!
I have a number of tif image files of scanned engineering documents that are fairly large (25MB+). Viewing them in Windows is not so much of a problem. However, they are illegible when viewed in GNOME's Document Viewer.
Is there any package official or in AUR that will allow me to open these documents correctly.
    Regards

Just installed feh. Tried opening  but it would not show the drawings, No error or such just plane white background.
All I want to do is open the scanned engineering documents and zoom into specific parts, nothing more. In Gnome Document viewer, the drawings are barely visible. If I zoom it does not improve. I can see an outline but cant read any useful information like the dimension of hole.
In feh the document opens (the CPU is working hard the fan becomes really loud) but that is it. I waited for 5 min and gave up.
I have a DELL XPS (about 4 months old). intel i7, 8GB RAM.
In windows the document viewer cant open these also. I used to use a program, whose name I cant recall except that it had 'tiff' in it.
Please tell me if you need more specific info.

  • Crash to Home when viewing large JPG files

    Greetings,
I have been having trouble adding and viewing photos to my iPhone. I have iTunes set to sync up the photos I want, and it does its whole optimization and transferring process. The photos even show up properly in the library on the iPhone with their thumbnails, however, when I attempt to view the photo, the screen will turn black and dump me back to the Home screen.
Here is what I have figured out: any photos which are larger than about 250Kb before they are synced will do this to me. What is perplexing is that, if I upload a large 1Mb photo online, access it via Safari and then save it to my iPhone, it will compress to a proper iPhone usable size and I will be able to view it without any issue. With that realization, I am coming to think that something is wrong with the optimization process used by iTunes when syncing photos.
Has anyone else had a similar issue or any ideas on how to fix this? It would be far easier to have iTunes compress and optimize the photos while syncing my iPhone to my PC than to have to manually view and save them via Safari on the iPhone itself.
    Thanks,
    grawalt

  • Viewing large PDF files over Ethernet

maybe it'ts not the right forum, but users handling big PDF files might have a tipp.
My PDF files are about 180 MB big and about 30 pages long, consisting highres images. The scrolling throug the document takes ages. I do have a fast Windows 2003 server connetect over 1GB ethernet to my XP workstation.  When I copy the PDF file to the workstation it works fine.
Is there a trick to get some kind of caching the open filestream during scrolling?
    I use Acrobat 7.1.0.

  • HOW DO I COMPRESS 2008 POWERPOINT FILES SO I CAN EMAIL THEM?

Hi. I am new to Power Point. I spent all day making a presentation, but I was using scanned images and digital images, which I know now are very large. No one warned me to compress the files before I inserted them, so I didn't. Now, the file is too large to send via email. I have been looking for information online about how to compress the files and cant find any answers.
The 2007 version seemed to have a "compress pictures" button on the tools menu. On the 2008 version, there is no tools menu and no compress pictures button. (There is one actually in the save as menu but it doesn't compress the file at all!)
I am at a complete loss and very frustrated. I am terrible with computers. Can anyone please give me advice on what to do to solve this problem? I need it for an interview Thur!
    Thank you.

I had the same problem, followed the link to the horrible M****soft forum, read the following:
<<Embedded pictures are the common cause for large PowerPoint files. Office for Mac 2008’s PowerPoint has a built-in tool that can compress your embedded images and shrink your PowerPoint file:
    1. With PowerPoint open, click PowerPoint on the menu bar at the top of the screen and choose Preferences...
    2. Choose the Save tab
    3. At the bottom of the window, check the box for "Compress graphics files". This will automatically compress all graphics in your PPT files.>>
..followed the instructions and nothing happened. Tried to leave a scathing reply about nothing happening, was asked to sign up to MSN, stopped that process when I saw that I was giving the right to send me promotional emails... yuk!
soo, did you find a solution to your compressing question?
    thanks

  • Downloading Large PPT file from Email - not working

I emailed to myself a large 12 MB PPT file and in my email touched this assuming it would open and allow me to use iWork to open the file. I do have iWork Keynote on my iPad. However, it does not open. I touch the file and the hourglass keeps thinking and says it's downloaded 0 of 12.5 MB. It sits like that for ages.
I've had no problem with other Excel and PDF files, only larger PowerPoint files. I was able to open a smaller PPT no problem.
    Any thoughts?
    Richard

If you're trying to import that file into Keynote on your iPad, you won't get it there by emailing it to yourself, regardless of size. You have to do the following.
    1) Connect your iPad to your laptop.
    2) Once iTunes is open, click on your iPad under Device in the left column.
    3) Click on the Apps tab on top.
    4) Scroll down to the File Sharing section.
    5) Click on Keynote.
    6) Click on the Add button.
    7) Browse to the location of the PPT file on your laptop, select it.
    8) Now you have your file ready to import in iTunes.
    9) Click on the Info tab on top.
    10) Click on Sync below. Once it finishes, you'll have your PPT file in Keynote on your laptop.
    11) On your iPad, click on Keynote.
    12) Click on the little folder icon at top right corner.
    13) Click on the PPT file in the list that opens. There you go.

  • Unable to open large pdf files..

I'm holding an E61 pda-phone. I downloaded acrobat reader v1.5. However, i still unable to view large pdf files, anyone pls advise... Thks

My guess is you're running out of memory when you load the file: is it bigger than the memory the phone has available before you try to open it?
You may be able to get around the problem by reducing the amount of phone memory in use: close any other applications you have running and move non-system files (documents, music, photos) from phone memory to card memory.

  • How to view Powerpoint files without Office

    Hi,
I just need to view a .ppt file on my Macbook (os x 10.5.2), and I tried to use the Powerpoint Viewer 98 for Mac from microsoft, but it is a classic application that is not supported on leopard. I also tried openoffice.org, but it converts the file poorly and leaves a lot of things out. Is there any other way to simply view a powerpoint on a mac without buying office or iwork?
    Thanks

Looks like you have done your research and know what to look for. You are right, I couldn't find anything that would run under Leopard and view Powerpoint files unaltered.
If possible then have the sender of the file convert to it to a .pdf (Powerpoint 2007 can do this under windows).

  • I want to save large pdf files from my computer to my iPad so I can view them in Adobe Reader.

I want to save large pdf files from my computer to my iPad so I can view them in Adobe Reader. I do not want to view them in iBooks or Quickoffice. Since I cannot email these large files, how can I get them on my iPad? Thanks for your help.

I think that Adobe reader supports file sharing.
Connect the iPad to your computer and launch iTunes. Select the iPad on the left side under "devices". Click on the Apps Tab in the window on the right. Scroll down to the File Sharing Apps list under the main apps list. Click on Adobe Reader. Drag the documents into the file sharing window on the right or select them using the "add" button.
Launch the Adobe reader app and the files should be in there.

  • Viewing Powerpoint files in quick view or any app

I cannot view powerpoint files from the mail application on my iPad Air (OS and apps up-to-date). When I tap to view I'm presented by a gray screen with the name of the file and the message "Office Open XML presentation" and then the size of the file in Kb. If I then try to open with another app, eg: Keynote or Powerpoint iPad edition then I get a message that the file is corrupted  -  that msg doesn't make sense. I used to be able to view PPT or PPTX no problem, it has started to happen since this last Christmas (not sure exactly when).
    thanks for any help

Also, you can download these free MS Office apps (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) to view (but not create or edit) these files.

  • How do I view Powerpoint files without Office and Keynote?

Someone sent me a Powerpoint file today. I was able to view it
using Keynote, but now my 30-day trial has started and I have no intention
    of buying iWork.
I have Word2004, not Office2004, which will display Powerpoint files.
Microsoft used to have a free Powerpoint viewer pre-OS X. Is there anything in Tiger what will do this? If not, what would you recommend the next time I get a Powerpoint file?

    Hi gwgoldb;
Sent it back and ask for them to send it in a different format.
If they insist on sending it to you in Powerpoint that is what the delete key is for. You might let them know that you intend to delete any future emailwith Powerpoint attachments.

  • Tdms viewer+large files issue

I built a VI that stores large [up to 50x50] 2D arrays continuously, every new 2D array is stored as a new group in a TDMS file.
The VI streams out the data, it's OK, however when it finishes and the TDMS Viewer pops up, the LabVIEW keeps hanging and [seemingly] doing nothing. The TDMS files that the viewer tries to display can have easily over 10^6 pieces of 2D arrays inside if the measurements were running for days for example.
Is there a clever way to make the TDMS Viewer display my file or at least say the quarter of it?
    Thanks,
    Krivan

Also, if I use the code attached and I try to open that large file the LV keeps hanging [all open LV windows], the program does not enter the while loop because the open tdms VIs do nothing.
However, if I run this program with a very small sized tdms file [~300 kbyte] containing only a couple of thousands of matrixes, it runs without any problem.
I haven't tried the defragmenter so far because here it was reported to be not advisable.
I also tried to read only a small portion of the files wiring 1000 to the read VI but [in case of the large files] the problem remains the same, the operation does not get through the TDMS Open VIs.
Is there a clever way to handle large TDMS files?
    Thanks,
    Krivan
