Viewing M2T files with PE7

Greetings -
I am trying for the first time to work with some HD video and am having many problems.
The first is this:  I can import the files into Photoshop Elements 7 organizer just fine....but I never get a real image clip generated as a thumbnail....I just get the video icon.  When I double click on one of the clips, a full screen viewer comes up, but there is no image in it.  I can slide along the slider bar at the bottom of the viewer and it changes the little number on the bottom that indicates the number of seconds into the video you are, but I still see no video.  Pressing play doesn't do anything.
I can also select the files and send them over to Priemiere Elements.  When they get there, I can see the clip in the upper left hand viewer (though it's quite jerky when I press play).  The video clips also have images in them as they sit in the timeline.  However, if I double click one of the clips in the timeline thereby bringing up a little "preview" window - that window also is just blank just like in Photoshop Elements.
I'm having other problems spitting this stuff out to a disk......but one thing at a time.....
Thanks for your help
Mike Hubbard

Hunt -
The project settings are HDV 1080i 30.
The files were loaded from a 32G Sandisk which was written to by a Sony HVR-MRC1 Memory Recording Unit which was firewire connected to a Canon XH G1s camera.
Thanks for answering, by the way.....your avitar/icon thing always has a calming effect whenever I'm scanning these forums.

  • Open a url and view the files with it's timestamp

    Hi guys,
    I need to create a flow service in SAP BC to connect to a server by it's url and display it's files with it's timestamps.
    I have never done this b4, and usinf SAP BC makes it harder for me.. Mostly I need to know how to access the server and view the files with their timestamp.
    Any guidance for me will be much appreciated.
    Thank u.

    Yes,
    It's like this. I will connect to an FTP server. Then I need to view the files it the server or folder i specify with their respective timestamps.
    I am using SAP BC and it's webMethods to create the JAVA flow service. I am only now familiarising myself with SAP BC.
    Moreover I have never done a coding to access a server and list it's file. I can do it o view in a local directory using JFrame aand stuff... But SAP BC doesn't support those..
    So If u can give me some guidelines to follow.. i would appreciate it.
    Here's what i have come up with so far
    public static final void ReadFileServer( IData pipeline ) throws ServiceException
    //define input variables
         IDataCursor idcPipeline = pipeline.getCursor();
         String path = null;
         path = (String)idcPipeline.getValue();
         // Check if url is in the pipeline
         if (idcPipeline.first("path"))
              File dir = new File(path);
              String filesFound[]=dir.list();
              long [] age;
              age = new long[filesFound.length];
              for (int i = 0; i < filesFound.length; i++)
                   age = new File(filesFound).lastModified();
              String temp = "";
              for (int i = 0; i < age.length - 1; i++)
                   for(int k = i+1; k < age.length ; k++)
                        if (age > age [k])
                        temp = filesFound;
                        filesFound = filesFound[k];
                        filesFound[k] = temp;
              for (int i = 0; i < filesFound.length; i++)
              //get url out of the pipeline
              path = (String)idcPipeline.getValue();
              //insert the FILES into the pipeline
              idcPipeline.insertAfter("filesFound", filesFound);
              idcPipeline.insertAfter("age", age);
         //If it is not in the pipeline ERROR
         else
         age = "False";
         idcPipeline.insertAfter("path", path);
         //insert the successFlag into the pipeline
         idcPipeline.insertAfter("age", age);
         //Always destroy cursors that you created
         idcPipeline.destroy();
    return;
    }

  • Can I view .WMV files with 10.7?

    Can I view .wmv files with OS 10.7.2?

    Mac OS X has no native ability to view WMV files, but you can download and install the free codecs from Flip4Mac:
    http://dynamic.telestream.net/downloads/download-flip4macwmv.htm
    and use QuickTime Player. Note that not all WMV codecs have been ported to Mac, nor has the copy protection system, so not all videos will work.

  • CS5 - Output a .m2ts file With DD 5.1

    Hi all,
    I have just installed my new copy of CS5 which is an upgrade from CS3.  (I had to reinstall due to the 64bit requirement).  Anyway, on my CS3 install with the mainconcept plug-in installed I could output to a m2ts file keeping DD 5.1.  I cannot see an option to do this on CS5... I assumed that you didnt need an additonal plug-in with this version as it natively handled AVCHD files?
    How do I go about getting a .m2ts file?
    Thanks in advance.
    Rich

    Hi Hunt, thanks a lot for replying.
    Sorry, I perhaps didnt explain my issue very clearly...
    ...with my CS3 version I installed the MainConcept Pro plug-in which enabled CS3 to import and export m2ts files, and as I'm sure you know this file format supports DD 5.1.  Now, with CS5 it supposedly supports AVCHD (m2ts) files natively, and indeed I could drag a m2ts file from my camcorder into my project.  However, when I go to export the movie I dont get an option anywhere to allow me to save the movie as an m2ts file.  (FYI on CS3 with the MainConcept plug-in I had an option to Export to MainConcept Pro where I could chose the usual bitrate, DD 5.1 etc).  I dont know if the MainConcept Pro plug-in works with CS5.
    Hopefully I have explained myself a bit better this time!
    Thanks again.

  • Can't view .mov file with quicktime

    Hello. I need help viewing a .mov file with Quicktime 7.5. It was recorded on a Canon Vixia HV30 camcorder and given to me on a dvd. But when I try to view the .mov file with Quicktime, I can hear the audio but the screen is black. Sometimes, it asks me to continue to the following link:
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/resources/components.html?os=Windows&ctype=696d64 63&csubtype=69636f64
    I'm not that computer savvy - what is wrong? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

    Sorry. My "then" (above) should have been "they".
    They sent you a data DV containing the "source" from the camera and the HDV codec isn't available on your PC so you can't view the file.
    Ask the authors to convert the file using H.264 Video codec (or others) so your Windows version of QuickTime can play the file.

  • Help using m2t files with Final Cut! :D

    Use MPEG Streamclip to demux/convert the m2t file(s) into whatever format matches your FCP Sequence settings.

  • View EPS files with CS3

    I have Adobe Illustraotor CS3, I only need it to view artwork files sent to me, I do not need to work on them, how can I view EPS files that were created in newer versions of Adobe

    "Place" is Adobe's lingo for what other software simply calls "Import".
    Not exactly.
    It would be interesting to read Adobe's official criteria (if it exists) for whether a particular format belongs in "Open" or "Place." But generically:
    "Import" is more restrictive, in that it implies that an import filter is going to translate the incoming data into native objects. "Place" is a (rather awkward) throwback term to early page-layout programs (ex.: PageMaker), which were essentially intended to be "assembly" programs in which to assemble and arrange many multiple kinds of external files (text, raster, vector) into a page design. The implication of "Place" is that the receiving program does not necessarily have to "disassemble" or "break into" or even "understand" the content of the incoming file; it can just position and scale a reference to it on the page (i.e.; link).
    The "Place" concept is particularly germane to positioning EPS files in page-layout apps. The operative word in EPS is "Encapsulated." It provides for a "capsule" that can contain a collection of objects that can be passed to/through many programs that don't necessarily understand its content.
    (Remember, prior to its acquisition of Aldus, Adobe didn't even have a page-layout application.)
    So "Import" is what Illustrator does (if it can) if you don't specify linking to the external file. You don't have to Open an EPS in Illustrator; you can link to it as an external file (i.e.; "Place" it on the page.)
    To my mind, "Open" should be reserved for native files that were created in the program, "Import" should be reserved for non-native files that will be translated into native content, and "Place" (or "Insert") should be used for linking to external files. So Illustrator should not "Open" an EPS, since it may not have been created in Illustrator, and therefore may contain objects which will be translated with varying degrees of  fidelity; it should either "Import" it (translate it) or "Place" it (leave its content alone). By the same token, Illustrator should not claim to "Open" a JPEG, either.
    But remember, Illustrator was essentially a visual PostScript editor.
    Also it no doubt would arguably be more confusing to newcomers to provide an Open, Import, and Place command. (So why not make the terms more explicit and intuitive in the first place, perhaps like: Reopen, Translate, Link?)
    And it's also no doubt considered more "impressive" from a marketing standpoint to claim that a program can "Open" various other-brand native files, and that's where my cynical mind suspects the runaway overlap stems from. So Illustrator can ostensibly "Open" certain version Corel Draw files, and vice-versa. (No, they can Import data from each other, to varying degrees of fidelity.) Adobe, of course, is not the only offender here. For example, FileMaker claims to "Open" Excel spreadsheets, too, when it really just imports the data.
    At any rate, despite frequent claims to the contrary, EPS is not obsolete in the world at large beyond Adobe apps; not until non-Adobe apps can insert (place) and/or import (translate) PDF as a spot graphic. Microsoft Word (Windows), for example, can't do that. So EPS is still needed there for those who understand its purpose and limitations. Similarly, some softwares which drive cutters / plotters import EPS files with vector content, too; but don't claim to "open" native Illustrator files.

  • New to Dreamweaver. Can I open/ view .php files with this application?

    Recently downloaded a file that had the extension; .php. Tried opening it on my desktop and couldn't. Was told the Dreamweaver software/ application from adobe could help. Please, educate me on what to do in order to view these files.

    PHP files are all code.  You need a local testing server to view PHP files locally in your browser.   Dreamweaver can help you view the code, but you still need a local testing server to preview it.
    Get one of these testing servers for you OS and install it.

  • Viewing MHT files with Mac OS X

    New to the Mac from PC and not very technical to boot.
    I am a student and need to view MHT files on my school's website. I can view them on my PC but not on my Mac which I would like to be using. Can anyone help? Thank you.

    I wrote a shareware program years ago that can decode a number of different formats, including MHT. Download it and try it out. It is shareware, but it will work fine, even if not registered. Just wait 8 seconds.
    Note: As this is my own program and it is shareware - "I may receive some form of compensation, financial or otherwise, from my recommendation or link."

  • Viewing .exe file with video

    I am trying to extract an exe file with client video that is theirs. Is there a way to extract this? All efforts have failed.

    Any file that comes into your Mac without a proper suffix or extension can appear to the OS to be a .exe. Try changing the extension to .mov, .flv, or .wmv and see what happens.
    fi that does not work, your client must provide you with a proper media file.

    I have a similar problem, which is that I want a Windows user to be able to view my iMovie file using Windows Media Player. I have Flip4Mac on my Mac but isn't that for converting the other way around - for viewing a Windows Media Player file on a Mac?
    Sorry, I see that there is a Studio version that allows conversion to wmv - I only had the free basic version for Flip4Mac - should have looked more closely at the website!

    How can I uninstall Safari Plug-Ins?
    How can I get back to viewing PDFs in Safari with Preview? (In Finder pdf documents are still set to be opened with Preview.)
    Thank you.

    Here's my problem, running 10.7.3 and Safari.
    I installed the 10.1.3 and have been running in 64 mode. If when viewing a PDF I choose File>Save As... I get a dialog saying "Export as... and upon trying to do so I get an error message that it can't export.
    If, however, I choose the little floppy icon in the popup at the bottom I get a "Save a copy as..." and everything works as expected.
    If I delete the Adobe plugins as specified in earlier posts, I get the Preview view of PDFs in Safari and Save As works normally.
    I tend to like Adobe's viewer because it defaults to a bigger view, otherwise it's apples/oranges, er adobes.
