• View .tif attachments on iphone

Is there a way to view .tif mail attachments on iphone? When an email is pushed from my yahoo account to my iphone I can't open this type of file. also, I have tried logging in to yahoo mail through Safari, still no luck. other files such as jpegs have not been a problem. Please help

Interesting - I just emailed a tif to myself (as a .tif, then I noticed that the iPhone specs page lists .tiff, not .tif, so even though both extensions refer to the same file format, I tried .tiff as well). In both cases, when I tapped the attachment in the email, I got the spinning wheel, not the image (waited nearly a minute for a <50 KB image).
Then, I tapped the Reply arrow at the bottom, and since Save Image was an option, I tapped that. In the Camera Roll, I could see a fragment of the tif image. When I returned to the emails, I could view the tif (and tiff) images inline in the emails. So, I then sent a different tif to myself, and this time, when I tapped on the attachment it downloaded and opened normally.
Seems to be a bug, hopefully this workaround will help you...

• Remove mail attachments on iPhone

Hi, I have a problem with mail attachments on my iPhone.
They have grown to be 500+ mb now and I'd like to get rid of them in one go.
Is there any way to do this?
And maybe also a setting that prevents all those attachments from being stored on my phone?
Thanks

No, you'll have to delete them one at a time.

• I can't open mail attachments on iPhone or iPad2

Since I updated my iPhone 4 and iPad2 to iOS5.0 I cannot open any mail attachments. I get the arrow to download. I click it, the file counts down the kb and then the screen flashes and that is it. I can't hold down the file and get the "open is" option. Nothing appears. I'm not sure that iOS5 is the problem but it happened about the same time. Can anyone help?

Attachments that show as a bold downward pointing arrow in a gray rectangle in a dotted box have not yet been downloaded to your phone (usually because they are large). Tapping such an icon should download the attachment if you are connected to the internet and your mail server is reachable. Once downloaded, they should appear as normal (which would depend on the attachment type).
This is the "Using iPhone" forum, so I said phone, but the same applies on an iPad.

• How to download MP3 mail attachments to iPhone 4s?

Newbie here with a question. How do I download MP3 mail attachments to my iPhone 4s? Word documents & Excel charts too for that matter. I work for a songwriter. Would be great help. So far, I can open the attachment fine. Just wondering if I could possibly do actual work on my iPhone instead of having to synch through a PC. Heard somewhere there's no file system on iPhone. Thus, I'm a bit lost. Thank you any & all who may be able to shed some light on this matter or suggest reading materials.
Sincerely,

• I cant open Mail attachments on iPhone 6

Before when using iPhone 5, I could open a Mail attachment in several Apps like Pdf Reader, TopDocs,MSWord etc. Now I bought iPhone 6 and I cannot open any attachment whatsover. I know how to download attachment in Mail and hold the attachment and direct it to an App for reading and opening; however, with iPhone 6 using iOS8.1.2 nothing happens after directing iPhone to an App to open the attachment. This is very annoying as it so frustrating to roll the clock backwards when one thinks one is advancing by upgrading into new devices and software. I have gone to Settings, Mail and Email account and see if there should be a listing of Apps that should be connected with Mail to open an attachment but there is none other than Mail, Contacts, Calendars and Notes??? .... Any troubleshooting suggestions how to fix? Thank you.

Hi Sign out of iTunes on iPhone then Sign back in. That may help. If not try a Reboot press & hold power button & menu button hold both down Until you see Apple Logo. You will not lose any data. Cheers Brian

• Unable to view PDF attachments from my iPhone.

I am using service called RightFax this service is send the faxes to clients mailboxs. I have been reported from clients that they are unable to view the attachmentson their iPhones, the attachment format is PDF. The attachment can be openned from any desktops and Android phones without any issue.
i can see attachment from on my iPhone but when i tab on it to view it it just scrolled up to the top of the mail. Also if i farward the same fax mail to my self then i can view the attachment. The IOS version is 7.1.
I contact the RightFax company to check with them why only attachments from fax mails with PDF format is not openning from iPhone devices from the first time, the company check theur services and do tests and reply me that there is no issue with their services since the PDF attachments are openned on android and desktops. They informed me that it might could be compatability issue between Exchange 2013 and apple that doesn't allowed PDF attachments to be openned from the first time, so they advised to contact Apple support to find out why PDFs are not openning when i initially attempt to download them.
I download third party mail client on my iPhone and all fax attachments are openned without problem.
Could anyone help me with this strange issue ??

RightFax advised you to contact Apple Support - this is NOT Apple Support but rather a public user to user technical support forum.
As far as I know, it is not possible to open PDF attachments on an iPhone, but it is on an Android phone, which is why you are having the problems - unless there is an app to help you that you can purchase in the app store, then there is not a lot you can do about this, except switch to an android phone, but as far as I know, you have never been able to open PDF documents on an iPhone.

• Default Mail attachments to "View As Icon"

Is there a way to default attachments to "View As Icon" instead of previewing them in Mail? Specifically MP3s, since there's no way to drag the preview player directly into iTunes. I know I can just right click to change, but I get a lot of emails with MP3s attached and need to pull them straight into playlists.
Thanks in advance for any help.

"Iconizer" or "attachment tamer" could be your answer.

• Mail attachments don't work iphone

I have three users who updated their phones to 7.0.4. After doing so, half of the email attachments don't show up in emails. Instead, they get a "this message has no content." It happens with different email senders and different attachment file types (pdf and xls). One user specifically noted that it happened after updating to 7.0.4. Two of those users are on iPhone 4S's and another is on a variation of 5.
Any ideas as to what is causing this or how to fix it?
side note: mail attachments on those same problem emails work on the user's Outlook clients as well as Android phones (when tested).

Use Plain Text instead of RTF for message composition and place any attachments below all message text including a signature if one is used.
The Send Windows Friendly Attachments option is designed for only one thing and that is removing the Apple resource fork from an attached file which is invisible from fellow Mac users.

• I have an older computer and can no longer update. After the latest Apple update I can no longer access my e-mail on my mac. I can view it on my iphone and on icloud. Is there a solution to this problem?

I have an older computer and can no longer update. After the latest Apple update I can no longer access my e-mail on my mac. I can view it on my iphone and on icloud. Is there a solution to this problem?

Apple changed MobileMe to iCloud and then restricted iCloud to 10.7 users only unfortunately
If your machine is a 64 bit processor Intel Mac you can upgrade to 10.7 for $29, however a lot of your 10.5/10.6/Rosetta based software could cease to function, especially third party hardware drivers for printers, fax machines, all-in-ones, scanners etc.
http://roaringapps.com/apps:table
Also depending how old the machine is, if it can accept 4GB of RAM (preferred), older video card, may not run 10.7 very well or stable.
My advice is to keep at 10.6.8, get a web based email service that's plaform/hardware neutral, forward your iPhone emails there. Gmail/Yahoo Mail for instance.
When your ready for new hardware and all new software, then buy a new machine.
If your going to go to 10.7 on your present hardware, I advise you clone 10.6.8 to a external drive first, that way you can c boot off the 10.6 disk erase the drive completely (necessary to remove hidden Lion Recovery Partition) and option boot off the 10.6.8 clone and reverse clone.

• IPhone 4s on AT&T - Viewing Mail While On a Call

I don't know if this is an Apple issue or an AT&T issue, but I just upgraded to an iPhone 4s the other day and I had a problem viewing mail while using the phone.
I was on a call, and went to the Mail app to check an archived mail message. When I navigated to the folder in my mail account, it was empty, so I hit the refresh button. But instead of retrieving mail messages from my mail account, I got an error that said it couldn't use the data connection while I was on the phone.
I've done this before with older iPhones on AT&T, so I am confused.
I opened Safari while on the call, and I was able to browse the web, but when I went back to mail, I still couldn't pull new mail from the server.
Has anyone else had this problem yet?
Any ideas?
Mike

My wife is having the same issue, *exactly* as you describe it, with her iPhone 4s on AT&T. It's ridiculous, and so far AT&T tech support is totally unhelpful.

• Disable inline viewing of attachments in Mavericks mail

Dear all
In previous version of the OS, there was an easy terminal fix to disable inline viewing of attachments in mail. Instead of bulky and cumbersome images and PDFs, I used to get nice, neat icons.
This terminal fix doesn't seem to work in Mavericks.
Online sources tell me to buy a separate app called Attachment Tamer to fix this.
Just wanted to find out whether there is a way to do this without additional software.
Thanks in advance
Best regards
Zam

Sorry, that page is a description of the basic functionality that is supposed to work in Mavericks, but is entirely failing to work for me. I tried calling Apple Support on the phone, and went through many attempted fixes with the experts, but they eventually threw up their hands in despair.
