Viewing pages written in XHTML using safari

Hi I have recently changed over to mac from PC. I write webpages and when I used my pc I just used to write the code in notepad save the file as name.html then I could click on it and the internet explorer would open showing my webpage.
On the mac I am writing the code with text edit. Saving it as name.html then when I click on it safari opens and shows a page with all the code showing instead of the webpage.
What am I doing wrong.
Any help greatly appreciated.
Alison.

Hi Alison,
You mentioned you're using TextEdit - are you using the save as HTML option? If you are, don't. That's the equivalent of saving a doc in Word as a web page - by that I mean it saves the text so that the webpage looks exactly like the doc you are editting (so if you see source code in the doc, the webpage will 'show' source code).
To convert the file to raw source, select Format -> Make Plain Text and now when you save it as a html file it should behave as expected.

  • Viewing And Printing Mastercard Bill Using Safari

If I view or print my Mastercard bill using Safari 7.1 (it was the same with older versions), the numbers on the bill are incorrect (the 7's are 9's and some of the 9's are X'd out) . If I open the online bill in Firefox I can view it, but it prints off all the numbers are square boxes.
    Thanks

    Something to try.
For Windows, get to the Control Panel > Printers.
Select Adobe PDF, right click to open the Preferences.
Open the Advanced tab. Now, click on the 'Printing Defaults' button.
Mid-point in the tab's dialog use the drop-down menu for "Adobe PDF Page Size" to select "Arch D".
Click the Apply button and 'OK' out.
Now, with Acrobat open go into Acrobat's Preferences.
Select the category "Convert to PDF".
Select the appropriate entry present in the "Converting To PDF" column.
    Click the "Edit Settings" button.
Use the dialog to provide additional configuration selections.
From Acrobat, File > Create PDF > From File
Browse to and select a DWG.
Acrobat will call up the associated native CAD application to process the file through PDFMaker.
n.b., will have to have compatible Acrobat / CAD alignment.
Ought have an Arch D (24x26) page size for the output PDF.
    Be well...

  • Recently I have had ads highlight words on every page I visit while using Safari...How do I get rid of these?

I do not know how this happened, but every time I go to a web page using Safari, an ad has highlighted particular words and if I accidentally scroll over them it either takes me to that website or a pop-up window will show up right in the middle of the page. This has only happened over the past two weeks. Have never had this issue. Anyone know what's up?

You installed the "DownLite" trojan, perhaps under a different name. Remove it as follows.
Malware is constantly changing to get around the defenses against it. The instructions in this comment are valid as of now, as far as I know. They won't necessarily be valid in the future. Back up all data.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    /Library/LaunchAgents/com.vsearch.agent.plist
Right-click or control-click the line and select
Services ▹ Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item named "VSearch" selected. Drag the selected item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator login password.
Repeat with each of these lines:
    /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.vsearch.daemon.plist
    /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.vsearch.helper.plist
    /Library/LaunchDaemons/Jack.plist
Restart the computer and empty the Trash. Then delete the following items in the same way:
    /Library/Application Support/VSearch
    /Library/PrivilegedHelperTools/Jack
    /System/Library/Frameworks/VSearch.framework
    ~/Library/Internet Plug-Ins/ConduitNPAPIPlugin.plugin
Some of these items may be absent, in which case you'll get a message that the file can't be found. Skip that item and go on to the next one.
From the Safari menu bar, select
              Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
Uninstall any extensions you don't know you need, including any that have the word "Spigot" or "Conduit" in the description. If in doubt, uninstall all extensions. Do the equivalent for the Firefox and Chrome browsers, if you use either of those.
This trojan is distributed on illegal websites that traffic in pirated movies. If you, or anyone else who uses the computer, visit such sites and follow prompts to install software, you can expect much worse to happen in the future.
You may be wondering why you didn't get a warning from Gatekeeper about installing software from an unknown developer, as you should have. The reason is that the DownLite developer has a codesigning certificate issued by Apple, which causes Gatekeeper to give the installer a pass. Apple could revoke the certificate, but as of this writing, has not done so, even though it's aware of the problem. This failure of oversight is inexcusable and has compromised both Gatekeeper and the Developer ID program. You can't rely on Gatekeeper alone to protect you from harmful software.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination  command-C. In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

DCA-40012: The Web Service call failed. A connection to the target Web Service could not be created.
First of all test the web service you have created in model project. Right click the web service name and select "Test WebService". If you see any issue(s) while testing fix it first before you run the jspx page.
Check the port number in the URL and connections.xml, it have to be same.

  • Cannot open/view/access interactive pdf form using Safari

I was unable to open interactive pdf forms from websites with Safari 6 on my iMac. I received the following message:
    Quote
To view the full contents of this document, you need a later version of the PDF viewer. You can upgrade to the latest version of Adobe Reader from www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html
For further support, go to www.adobe.com/support/products/acrreader.html

I still couldn't view/open/access the form even after I upgraded to Version 11.0.04 of Adobe Reader.
This problem happens only (I believe) after I updated OS X and Safari. Previously I was able to do it without any trouble as recently as July 2013. However, I don't encounter any issue if it is just an ordinary pdf document especailly if it can be downloaded to be opened later.
As far as I can ascertain, I don't have any plug-in except for McAfee SiteAdvisor 2.0, 1Password 3.9.0, AdBlock 2.5.46 (which is disabled), Evernote Web Clipper 5.7, and Open In Internet Explorer 1.0 (by Parallels).
    I am using OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.5 and Safari 6.0.5 (8536.30.1).
Can anyone please help? Thank you.

Thank you, Carolyn Samit and andyBall_uk, for your prompt responses and suggestions.
Although I didn't follow your recommendations, they gave me some idea regarding what to do to resolve the issue.
The solution is actually very simple. I uninstalled my existing Adobe Reader (using CleanMyMac 2 but I believe moving the app to trash should do it as well), downloaded a fresh copy (version 11.0.04) and reinstalled it again. When the software was being installed, it asked whether I wanted to make Adobe Reader (AR) the default PDF reader. I indicated OK and allowed installation to proceed and finish.
After installation of AR, I reopened Safari and went to a website to click the link to the pdf form. And lo and behold, I was able to open/access/view the document! It worked with a second website.
So the lesson is when installing an upgrade remember to make Adobe Reader the default PDF reader.
I hope that this procedure can help others resolve their issue if they have a similar problem.

hello prgc37, you original problem was likely caused by a fault extension that you have installed. can you try to [[Reset Firefox – easily fix most problems|reset firefox]] and see if this can address the issue...
otherwise such connection issues are also often caused by a firewall/security software which doesn't recognize & therefore blocks new firefox versions. please remove all program rules for firefox from your firewall and let it detect the new version of the browser again.
[[Fix problems connecting to websites after updating Firefox]]
finally please also [https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/plugincheck/ update your plugins] (flash seems a bit out of date).

  • Is there a way to force "desktop view" on my iPad 1 when using Safari?

Google, in their control frenzy, has now changed iGoogle to default to Tablet view on iPads. Why??? Here is one solution but it does not use Safari:
    Question:
Is there a secret to getting the old igoogle homepage back, or is it gone for good on the iPad 2?  I still have the homepage on my Mac, so the problem is just with the iPad.  Any help anybody can give to get the home page back would be greatly appreciated.
Answer:This issue is with the Tablet view. You can switch to Classic view at the bottom, but as soon as you type anything in the url bar you get reverted to Tablet. I have the Atomic Browser installed on my iPad and have set it to identify itself as a desktop. iGoogle loads fine on that. I am not aware of any such setting for Safari on the iPad.
Google fails to understand that we do not need sub featured pages for our tablets. Tablets work fine with the desktop versions. They have probably concluded that iGoogle pages are too busy for tablets and so have disabled it. Tablet search has been significantly degraded by Goggle with elimination of the pinch and zoom and cached features. It should be possible to make a sticky setting change to Classic view on tablets. Most other settings stick, but not the Classic view. I dont think Google get it anymore.
Is there a way to force Safari ,on an iPad, to do this?

The website may alter its page display based on the browser ID that is transmitted to the site from your browser. Some browsers on the iPad like iCab allow you change the browser ID to something desktop-oriented. Safari does not provide this capability.

  • How do I get back images on pages when surfing using Safari?

    Hello All,
    Background:
I downloaded an image management software that I forgot I purchased.
I don't think that was the cause of the problem, but I figured I'd mention it.
The program started to be annoying, so I closed it, and threw it in the garbage.
    1. What has happened is that I cannot see the small photos on a page.
    2. I cannot see the Insert IMage (camera icon) to insert photos, and when I tried to copy & paste, nothing happened.
Everything worksw well when I use my Google Chrome Browser.
Unfortunately, when I am in the Google Chrome Browser and migrate to the "Apple Support Communities", my compyutuer is "Pirated"
by Apple Safari, and everthing goes blank (photos and what I described on this page - no icon for add image, no options for type (colour, etc.)
Can someone help me - please!
    Thanks,
    (Mr.) Stacey B.
    Montreal

    Hello Once More.
I think I figured out the solution to my own problem:
Image # 1:  Problem with using Safari - no small photos appearing on Web Pages
Image #2: No Problem Using Google Chrome - Small Photos Appear
Image # 3: Why I couldn't add any photos or  modify writing (Safair Problem)
Even when I used Google Chrome, Safari would Pirate the Browser Platform and replace Chrome.
Image #4:  Somehow, when I was using Safari, and the top menu (developer), the images were "disabled". As a consequence, I couldnlt see any small images. What I did is to "enable images".
    That worked!
Thanks to all who viewed this post, and I hope this might help someone in the future.

  • In the "View"-- "Page Source" window: why can't I select a portion of a URL like I used to in previous versions? If I try, the source text behaves as an active hyperlink instead. This makes copying and editing HTML a pain!

In want to copy a portion of a URL from the "View" --> "Page Source" window and paste it in my favorite text editor. This used to be a simple action with my mouse (mark portion with left mouse button, dump copy into editor window with middle mouse button). In Firefox 3.6.9, it is not plain text in the "Page Source" window but active hyperlinks (cursor shape changes) and takes me to the website of that URL, which I don't want. How can I get the original behavior (plain text page source) back?

The code taht you have shown is not the template, it is a document that has been created from a template and renamed with a dwt extension.
If you load the document into DW then go to menu item Modify->Templates->Detach from Template and save the file, you will have your original template called index.dwt and located in the Templates subdirectory.
