Viewing PAL on Region 1 Apple computer

This is not strictly an FCP issue, but I think I will find the knowledge on this topic to be superior in this forum than in any other.
I have authored a multi-Region DVD in PAL, using DVDSP. When I play this in my Apple laptop set to Region 2, there is of course no problem. When I play it in my Apple laptop set to Region 1, DVD Player displays only the upper 480 lines (I guess) of the image, so that the bottom 96 or so lines are cropped, with the added consequence that the image is distorted (TTP - tall thin people), although not as extreme as it would be in an anamorphic/non-anamorphic situation. If I change the View in DVD Player from Full Screen to any other choice, the display then changes to show the entire image correctly. This correct display holds even when I re-select Enter Full Screen.
I tried a similar process on a Windows machine, where the DVD displayed correctly at all times. Is this a glitch in Apple's DVD Player? It seems my internationally destined DVD has to be converted from PAL to NTSC, complete with jittery pans and tilts that that entails, in order that it will play in the correct aspect ratio on an Apple machine of unknown region setting. This video is destined for non media types, so I cannot expect the audience to be familiar with altering their software settings.
Does anyone have any similar experience, or solutions?

This was definitely authored as Region 0. I was under the impression too that computers don't care about NTSC or PAL. That is why I am surprised that my MacBook, set to Region1, does not display the Region 0 PAL disc correctly -you're right, it's not recognising it correctly as multi-region. I realised it must an Apple/DVD Player issue when I tried the disc in a Windows machine set to Region 1, and it displayed correctly.

(I think the daughter got he better end of the deal!) I believe if you change the password and user id one of the devices it will stop that from occurring. But I'm not the one to tell you how to do it; someone like "Illaass" (Illaass seems to know how to correct / fix almost anything!) will know how if you don't. Just look for the "cat" icon.

I had the same issue with my apple tv 3rd generation. I rented Sinister and selected the "rent and watch now" option. Half way through the movie I accidentally pressed the menu button. When I looked for the rented movie on my apple tv I could not find it. Not even above the movie pannel where "purchased" and "top movies" comes up on the main menu. the apple tv suggests to go to settings>downloads but I don't have that option. I did go to settings> itunes store> check rentals but that didnt work either. It took too long to even check. Thank you because this SOLUTION worked great.
SOLUTION: How to reset apple tv 3 3rd generation to view rented movies:on the apple tv remote: press and hold "menu" to go to the main menu. Select SETTINGS> GENERAL >RESET >RESET ALL SETTINGS. After the apple tv resets, input all your information again and your rented movies should be visible when you cruise above the "movies" section. THANK YOU!!
Apple needs to solve this issue because honestly it took me 3 hours and a half to watch a movie that only lasted 2 BECAUSE I wast trying to solve the issue, reseting and all. blahh.

There are many ways to produce slide shows using iPhoto, iMovie or iDVD and some limit the number of photos you can use (iDVD has a 99 chapter (slide) limitation).
If what you want is what I want, namely to be able to use high resolution photos (even 300 dpi tiff files), to pan and zoom individual photos, use a variety of transitions, to add and edit music or commentary, place text exactly where you want it, and to end up with a DVD that looks good on both your Mac and a TV - in other words end up with and end result that does not look like an old fashioned slide show from a projector - you may be interested in how I do it. You don't have to do it my way, but the following may be food for thought!
Firstly you need proper software to assemble the photos, decide on the duration of each, the transitions you want to use, and how to pan and zoom individual photos where required, and add proper titles. For this I use Photo to Movie. You can read about what it can do on their website:

Neither of these are freeware, but are worth the investment if you are going to do a lot of slide shows. Read about them in detail, then decide which one you feel is best suited to your needs.
Once you have timed and arranged and manipulated the photos to your liking in Photo to Movie, it exports the file to iMovie as a DV stream. You can add music in Photo to Movie, but I prefer doing this in iMovie where it is easier to edit. You can now further edit the slide show in iMovie just as you would a movie, including adding other video clips, then send it to iDVD 7, or Toast, for burning.
You will be pleasantly surprised at how professional the results can be!

If I understand correctly you want all 6 devices to have access to a single calendar that each device gets notifications for and can edit. You can do that with an private iCloud shared calendar. First sign into www.icloud.com and use these steps from the following article to share a calendar:
iCloud: Share a calendar with others
Share a calendar privately
Click the Share button to the right of the calendar name in the sidebar, then select Private Calendar.
Note: You can also share the same calendar publicly. For instructions, see the next task, “Share a calendar publicly.”
Type the invitee’s email address in the Add Person field and press Return.
Click the pop-up menu with the invitee’s name and choose access privileges (View & Edit or View Only).
For each person you want to share the calendar with, repeat steps 2 and 3.
When you’ve invited everyone and set their privileges, click OK.
Invitation emails are sent from your iCloud email address to the participants you specified.

Decide which device will be changing accounts. On that device, if you have any photos in photo stream that are not in your camera roll that you want to keep on the device, save them to the camera roll by opening the photo stream album in the thumbnail view, tapping Edit, then tap all the photos you want to save, tap Share and tap Save to Camera Roll.
Once this is done, go to Settings>iCloud, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account. (This will only delete the account from this phone, not from iCloud. The device(s) that will be keeping the account will not be effected by this.) When prompted about what to do with the iCloud data, be sure to select Keep On My iDevice. Next, set up a new iCloud account using a different Apple ID (if you don't have one, tap Get a Free Apple ID at the bottom). Then turn iCloud data syncing back to On, and when prompted about merging with iCloud, choose Merge. This will upload the data to the new account.
Finally, to delete any data that you don't want in each account (such as deleting your wife's data from your account, and vice versa) you will have to go to icloud.com on your computer and sign into each iCloud account separately and manually delete it.

there is no facility to recover your photos from the appletv.
the only way to link the appletv to your new "system" is to remove the existing itunes link and then link it to the new itunes - this will delete all content from the appletv though.

Active X is chiefly a Windows > Internet Explorer browser based function and there is no Internet Explorer for OS X.
The only way you can run this Active X script is install Windows into Apple's BootCamp dual boot partition solution or by running Windows in a virtual machine program in OS X itself.

My girlfriends computer (Inspiron 1440; Windows 7) was running iTunes fine for awhile. the upon an update it started to get the 2330 error. a disk check worked once, but it soon reverted back to the 2330 error. so here we were unable to install or uninstall iTunes + QT. upon the advice of another post we got a 3rd party uninstaller (Revo Uninstall Pro) and successfully (it seems) uninstalled iTunes + QT. then when we tried to run the installer again we received this error: "an error occurred while attemping to create the directory: "C:\ProgramData\Apple Computer\Installer Cache\Quicktime"<version#>. I'm no noob when it comes to trouble shooting computers and using the internet and forums for problem solving (however i haven't been in the windows world since XP), but i'm finding little to no info on this issue. Some of the only things i have found suggest permission issue, but it's running under the Admin with the UAC off.
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated on this seemingly obscure issue.

I'm suspecting disk/file damage again, as per the the 2330, rocklebee.
If a disk check isn't cleaning that up, the following workaround might help.
First we'll need to adjust some view settings. (I think ProgramData might be hidden by default on Windows 7.)
1. From the Start menu, click Open.
2. In the Organize menu, click Folder and Search Options.
3. Click the View tab.
4. In the "Advanced settings" pane under "Hidden files and folders" make sure that the "Show hidden files and folders" option is selected.
5. Click OK.
Now, in Computer open your C drive.
Open the ProgramData folder.
Open the AppleComputer folder.
Attempt to rename the Installer cache folder *Installer CacheOLD.*
If you can rename her, reboot the PC and try another install. Does it go through properly again?

Thanks. We want visitors to browse through our historical photos in any of the ways iPhoto will allow them, including slide shows, but also searching for photos by key word and viewing them along with the comments we have entered on that photo.
I was beginning to think iPhoto had no capability to limit users to certain functions.

I am a U.S. citizen living in Taiwan. I would like to purchase a U.S. market Apple computer and have it delivered to Taipei. What is the best way to do that?
Second question: Do I need to do that? If the hardware is exactly the same from region to region (not sure if this is the case,) then I could buy a computer from a local Taipei Apple store. My first language is English, so I would want a computer designed for the English-speaking market.

They are the same except possibly for the keyboard, so there is really no need to go elsewhere than the local store if you can get the keyboard version you want. In Taiwan most users probably want a keyboard with Chinese characters on it in addition to the usual QWERTY letters, but they may well sell the US version. I suggest you check it out directly yourself.
