Viewing PDF Portfolio's

I have created a PDF Portfolio and am trying to send it to various people. How can they view it without Adobe Pro??

PDF Portfolios can only be viewed in Adobe Reader or Adobe Acrobat on Windows or OS X desktop machines. They don't work on mobile devices, in OS X Preview or in the PDF.JS engine (as used by Firefox, Safari, etc). Users must also install the NPAPI (Firefox) Flash Player runtime, which requires local admin rights.
If you need your PDFs to open reliably then Portfolios aren't the answer - they were an experiment by Adobe but in today's landscape of mobiles and enterprise blocks on Flash content, they're a hassle. A simple one-page PDF 'index' file with a bunch of attachments is slightly better - but doesn't work in browsers. Ultimately, the most reliable way to get a collection of files to a user on any platform is to shove them in a ZIP file.

Viewing PDF Portfolio using Adobe Acrobat XI Pro in Sharepoint Foundation 2013

When opening a PDF Portfolio, created using Adobe Acrobat XI Pro, in Sharepoint Foundation 2013 the pages are blank in the default Layout view but you can see the contents in File view. How do we correct that so the files appear in both views? Local IT stated it is an ADOBE problem.

Version needed to view pdf portfolio?

Make sure they are opening the files in Adobe Reader or Acrobat only, or in Internet Explorer using one of those. Make sure you understand the various ways they might open the file without using Adobe Reader or Acrobat, such as in FireFox, Chrome or Safari, or Preview on a Mac. Make sure they have a sufficiently up to date copy of Reader/Acrobat too.

Cannot view PDF portfolio files

Hi,
I am running Adobe Acrobat 10.1.3 on Windows 7 Professional 32-bit.
There is a regularly updated PDF portfolio file that I view from a suppliers webpage, it is usually around the 200 - 300 page mark. When I open this in Acrobat I get a quick glimpse of all the bookmarks in the document as well as the first page, but then this disappears and all I see are 5 documents that have nothing to do with what I am meant to be viewing. I have never used these other documents in question so don't know where they have come from.
It does this when I view the document in the webpage, as well as downloading it.
I have another Windows 7 Professional 32-bit computer with Adobe Reader 10.1.3 which does the same.
I do not know how the portfolio was created.
I currently use Foxit reader to view this file as Foxit just opens the PDF as one large document and shows every page which is what I want. Also Foxit does not show the 5 documents I mentioned in the above.
Can portfolio mode be turned off in Acrobat as this may solve the problem?

I have found that the document was created in Apache FOP then edited using iText (according to the document properties).
I've discovered how to view the main document in Acrobat, I have to select View / Portfolio / Cover Sheet. Looks like the main document gets saved as the cover sheet. I have also found in Foxit where to view the 5 attachments (in attachment view).
Anyway I'll keep using Foxit as this does what I want.

PDF Portfolio on Flash ActiveX

Is there any way to open PDF Portfolio's SWF file in Flash ActiveX (Visual C++ project)? How to implement communications between Flash ActiveX and its container? I know that Adobe has public PDF Reference and PDF portfolio is a part of this, but I can’t find any information about viewing PDF Portfolio content.

I was looking for it but I could not find. Please, give me the directions where I can find that documentation. Give me the link or send that documentation to [email protected] I'll be very grateful for any information concerning this subject. Can you tell me also what company has implemented viewing of PDF Portfolios with this method?

Can't open PDF portfolio in Adobe Reader 11.0.10

I've seen this question asked a few times on the Forums, but I haven't seen an answer.
I received a PDF portfolio, but I can't open it on my Mac (OSX 10.10.2) using Adobe Reader 11.0.10. When I try to open it, I get the message, "For the best experience, open this PDF portfolio in Acrobat 9 or Adobe Reader 9, or later." I've tried both Adobe Reader and Acrobat (also 11.0.10) but I keep getting the same message in both. I heard that this can sometimes be a problem caused by Flash, but I am running version 16.0.0.296 of that. I tried updating both Adobe Reader and Flash Player just in case I didn't have the latest version for some reason, but I still can't open the file. Is there anything else that I should do to get it to open correctly?

In order to view PDF Portfolio content, you need to have Flash Player installed on your system.
You might have been prompted to use Flash Player to view the same.
Have you installed Adobe Flash Player on your system? You can install it from the link mentioned below:
Adobe Flash Player Install for all versions

Acrobat XI pdf portfolio not working

My download of Acrobat XI from Creative Cloud does not seem to be fully functional. I want to create a pdf portfolio and after I add some pdf files and click create, it tells me I need to download a version of Flash Player which supports Adobe (R) and Acrobat (R). The link this message provides "Proceed to download page" does not work. The window in Acrobat XI Pro becomes totally black and I can't create the portfolio. I downloaded the latest Flash Player separately and tried again but the same thing happens. I read somewhere that I might need an earlier version of Flash Player - can some one please advise the best course of action here?

The recent update to Acrobat X Professional also breaks the ability to view PDF Portfolios. It wants me to install Flash, despite it already being on my machine. Funnily enough, this update removed Flash from within Acrobat instead using Flash that is already installed on the machine. Within a PDF portfolio i need to link from a PDF to a folder view in the Portfolio. I am using Link Action - Go to Page View.
This used to work for me - very important feature that no longer works. Please advise a workaround.
Steps:
1. Start a PDF Portfolio that contains files and folders
2. Open a PDF in the Portfolio
3. in the opened PDF click Add or Edit Link
4. Define a link area and set it to Go To A Page Vies
5. In the past i have been able to target a Folder View in the Portfolio - ie. direct a user not to a file, but instead to a folder view that contains relevant files. I would do this by setting the Target Page View to my desired folder view
6. This used to work in bringing a user to the folder view i specify. Now it does nothing. If i go back to the PDF and EDIT the Link i see this. File: Parent Document Page 1. This in fact does nothing.
Please advise, am i doing this wrong, it used to work. I have tried several workarounds, with no luck.

There's an extension or two, or a combination of extensions which seem to be causing that in Firefox 6.0.2. One that has been mentioned is TabMix Plus.

You need to figure out what is causing it, and disable that extension/s until they are fixed by their developer.

Help needed to view documents send in .pdf portfolio - only gray screen visible

Various clients are complaining that they are unable to view/retrieve documents I have forwarded in .pdf portfolio format. All they see is a blank - grey - screen. Any help to resolve this would be appreciated.

PDF portfolios in Acrobat X Pro - being viewed on the new XI reader version

We currently produce PDF portfolios in Acrobat X Pro - Can these be viewed on the new XI version without problems?
I have heard from other people, that they experience issues - has anyone heard/seen this?

Portfolios created in Acrobat X Pro can definitely be viewed in version XI.
If you've heard of issues between versions, it is probably regarding people trying to edit/update portfolios created in version 9. Portfolios created in version 9 are different than those in X and XI.

How do you set the default view of a PDF portfolio to be the Files mode?

I can set my personal view of portfolios to that, but if another user opens it, it shows the preview mode. It needs to be accessible, and I read Files mode is the only way. We want to load a PDF portfolio onto our internet for anyone to view, but it needs to open in the Files mode. Thanks

Have a hidden input field on form <input name="ZoneExpiry" id="ExpiryDate" />
Then have a function as follows:

PDF portfolio viewing on ipad

i am not able to open pdf portfolios in emails received on my ipad. I get an adobe "click here" button but nothing happens. Can anyone suggest a solution?

There's no chance they'll work on iOS since they require Flash viewer, which isn't available for iOS.
