Viewing PDFs in Internet Explorer - Download Stuck

My Acrobat XI users are running into an issue where PDF files from the internet are opening in Internet Explorer and getting stuck on the loading screen. Refreshing the page will push it along a bit so this is a workaround for some users. Another workaround we've found is to add the domain to the trusted sites in IE 11. What setting should I be looking for that would cause this issue to happen? One possibility I found is disabling anti-malware scanning on ActiveX controls for all sites in the Internet Zone but this is a very dangerous solution for our users and not an option for us.

Anyone?

  • How to view PDF on Internet Explorer 11

I have a new computer - Windows 7 Professional 64 bit, running Internet Explorer 11.  I have the Adobe Reader 32 bit and 64 bit add on enabled.  I am using the latest version of Adobe Reader XI (1.0.07).  I have my Internet Explorer options set to "Always Open Pop Ups in a New Tab", and "Open Links From Other Programs" is set to "The Current Tab or Window".  Some of my programs will generate a report as a PDF file.  When I open the report, I want it to open in a new tab in the current window (which I have always done with my old computer).  With this computer, the PDF opens in the stand alone Adobe Reader, and not in Internet Explorer.  Does anyone know how to make this PDF file open in a new tab using Internet Explorer 11 and Adobe Reader XI?

The other issue, more rare, is that the reader module is not loading in IE.
My problem was that IE11 was not automatically loading the PDF Reader module even though I had it enabled so I had to start by finding the Class ID of the add-on. You can find that by going to Tools, Manage Add-Ons, selecting the offending add-on (you might have to use the "Show All Add-ons" to see it), right click it, then choose More Information. That pulls up a window where you can see the Class ID. For my add-on the value was:
    {CA8A9780-280D-11CF-A24D-44553540000}
You cannot copy and paste from that screen to the clipboard so you will need to carefully write down the Class ID. You will need an old-school analog input device like a pencil for that step (I know, so 20th century ).
Next, go to the registry and find this entry:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Ext\Settings\
and see if there is an add-on listed under Settings with a matching Class ID. I did not have a matching key so I needed to create one.
I added the missing key under Settings and then created a new DWORD value under that key. The DWORD is named "Flags" and needs a numeric value of 1 to enable the add-on or 0 to disable it. I wanted to use the add-on so I put in a value of 1.
The combination of these two tweaks fixed my issue.  I am not sure if the step above is strictly needed because I initially screwed up and installed the TabProcGrowth key as  DWORD instead of String Value.  When I changed the value to correct type, I left the earlier step untouched cause if it ain't broken then don't fix it.  I also did a master reset of IE under Internet Options, Advanced.  That disables all the add-ons (as well as some other personal customizations) so you have to redo those changes as well.
Mine was a clean install on a brand new, out of the box HDD following the untimely death of my old hard disk (RIP) so your mileage may vary if other apps have been messing with the registry.   I managed this with Win 7 Pro X64 and Adobe Acrobat Pro 11.7.

  • Cannot view pdf using Internet Explorer 8.0

Running Vista 64-bit, IE8.0, Adobe Acrobat 9.4.1 (Pro).  I cannot view pdf documents on line --- a blank page opens, but no document is visible.  Java is loaded, ActiveX controls are in default mode, and I've done a "Repair Adobe Installation".  Anyone else seeing this?  How fixed?

  • Did Adobe Acrobat/reader stop providing browser integrated PDF viewing(addin) for Internet Explorer?

Did Adobe acrobat and reader stop providing browser integrated PDF viewing capability for Internet Explorer?
Hi, I have been trying to view PDF's directly on my browser (Internet Explorer 9). We used to be able to have this available. To be honest last configuration that did work was Internet Explorer 8 with Adobe Acrobat 7. But I recently tried with Intenet Explorer 9 with Adobe Acrobat X and did not work as expected (I tried to activate the add in for Adobe but the adobe addin for PDF did not show up) I have the following questions:
    1) Do you still provide PDF's viewing capabilties on Internet Explorer?
    2) If yes: Is there a propper Add-in we (users) are able to install for Internet Explorer?
    3) if yes: Do we require to have Adobe Acrobat to have this capability? (this was my experience with IE8 and Adobe Acrobat 7)
    Additional Info:
There seems to be an addin for Chrome wich works as expected (opens PDF in browser) to this current date. This does not happen on IE.
    Thanks in advance.

Are you using the 64-bit edition of Internet Explorer?
The Adobe Reader/Acrobat plugin is 32-bit, and will not work on a 64-bit browser.

  • Can't open PDFs in Internet Explorer 9

    Hi there,
I've been having this problem for a while now, where I'm unable to open/preview PDFs in Internet Explorer 9.
Like, if I go to this page http://www.together-uk.org/work-for-us/current-jobs/ and click 'Benefits of working for Together' on the right NOTHING happends lol.
I have checked for updates on Adobe Reader X, I'm up to date. Everything is ticked off in the Internet tab of Adobe Reader X. I've tried everything I think?
    Please advise,
    thanks.

Works fine for me on IE10 and Firefox.
Try downloading the PDF to your local disk (right-click on this link http://www.together-uk.org/wp-content/uploads/downloads/2011/11/benefofworkingfortogether. pdf and select Save Target as...).
The problem is that the link on that website is a PHP, not a direct link to the PDF, so it may or may not work, depending on your browser settings.

Suddenly today I am unable to view my Google Calendar via Firefox. But I can view it with Internet Explorer. What gives?

I have tried deleting all cookies and cache several times, but nothing works. I can open Google calendar but when I click on any entry I just get a blank box. If I try to make a new event entry nothing happens. Everything works fine in Internet Explorer.
I am really getting tired of constant problems with Firefox. Every week I have something that doesn't work. One time it's downloading videos, the next week music or email, now Google calendar. I am about ready to give up Firefox forever.

  • Adobe Acrobat Standard and Pro - dialog prompt when opening PDF from Internet Explorer 9

    Good morning.
I am having an issue where our ends users that have either Adobe Acrobat X Standard (AAXS) or Adobe Acrobat X Pro (AAXP) cannot open a PDF within Internet Explorer 9 without being prompted by a dialog box to OPEN, SAVE or SAVE AS. Our user that have Adobe Reader X (ARX) only are ok. The ARX users can click on a PDF link within the browser and it will automatically open in a new tab. However, the AAXS and AAXP users will click on that same link, but are then prompted with a dialog box to either OPEN, SAVE or SAVE AS. Has any one else seen this before? We would like it to be so that all users - no matter what Adobe PDF program they are using of the 3 mentioned - can open a PDF link by just clicking on the link and no additional dialog options appear.
The ARX users have the same Internet settings within the Adobe preferences as the AAXS and AAXP users. The check box is checked to have PDFs open within the browser, which they do, but that dialog box always appears for AAXS and AAXP users. Any thoughts?
    Thank you.

Thanks for the reply. I stumbled across something today after posting. I had already known that If the ARX user also had one of the other products (AAXS or AAXP), then they would get the dialog box. Here is what I just figured out: if the user uninstalled ARX and re-installed (still having both ARX and AAXS or AAXP in the end) then they no longer get the dialog box. It seems like perhaps its an issue the AAXP and AAXS are overwriting something in the registry.

  • Cannot open pdf in Internet explorer with a specific site

    Hello,
I'm running adobe reader 10.1.4 on XenApp 6.5 servers.
On a specific site some users cannot open pdf in internet explorer. I need to delete there terminal server's profile to have it running fine again.
My question is; wich file or folder can i delete in user's profile to erase adobe settings?
Thanks a lot for your help and sorry for my english.

    Hello,
I forgot to test this solution   but i've tried it this morning without success.

  • I cannot view pdf files with free download from Adobe. Simple

I cannot view pdf documents, since recent download of Adobe Reader. Click pdf doc, Adobe opens, but bleeps if I click anywhere on the screen, then closes.
Recently I tried to look at my Amex Statement online, but Adobe wouldn't show the file.
I downloaded the Statement, but every attempt to view, is futile!!!!!!
Today, I downloaded, Assistant and signed in. Also Adobe Air. But still the Statement cannot be viewed.
If this is a free download, why change the setup so the damn thing doesn't work, when downloaded. I don't want to view the "World", just 1 document. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. (Words of some intellect, I would say) (Please take note)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Use the Adobe Cleaner to completely uninstall Reader. http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html
Then, download the full offline installer here: http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/ and run it to reinstall a good working copy of Reader.

  • Windows Explorer Crash if Internet Explorer Downloads run

    Hi,
one Bug i discovered in the TP Build 9879:
Longer Internet Explorer Downloads are running (some GBs), then after some time the Clock and Notification Icons disappear. If i'm trying to start the Windows Explorer it hangs up and also strange parts appear on the desktop. If i restart then the Windows
Explorer through Task Manager all seems be working again until after some minutes the same problem returns.
    Can you see same problems?
    Thanks.

There are several long threads about this and has been widely reported. It
isn't just IE downloads, it happens whenever an icon in the taskbar
displays a progress bar. There is no fix yet beyond killing and restarting
    explorer.exe.

  • Reader X issues Viewing PDF's with IE downloads turned off

First off, Our company has a policy that Internet downloads are turned off through GP for IE. We recently upgraded from Adobe 6.06 (had active x control to view PDF's online) to adobe X. We are looking for a way to view PDF's through the IE 8 browser with file Downloads disabled. When trying to view a PDF on the Web, we get "Your current security settings do not allow this file to be downloaded". Previously, the active x control in reader 6.x allowed viewing PDF's on the web. Is there any way to allow this in adobe X? can code be written to alleviate this? Is there a solution? HELP anyone please. It's driving me NUTTY!!

    Cyberdawg,
Try to turn off anything that enhances speeds his video through the video driver. That is most likely the problem..

  • Opening pdf in Internet Explorer on Windows

I attempt to open a pdf file in Internet Explorer and get the following message:
"The Adobe Acrobat/Reader that is running can not be used to view PDF files in a web browser. Plesx exit Adobe Acrobat/Reader and try again".
Acrobat Reader is then launched and the pdf opens.
Is there any way I can view directly in the web browser? I can do this in Firefox on both Windows and Linux.
(Also I've had to create a new screen Ziggy Short as Ben Short has been disabled on forums for some reason, but Ben Short and Ziggy Short are one and the same).
    Thanks

    What's,with,the,commas?
If you have a tablet that runs full Windows 8 - not Windows 8 RT, which is limited.
And if you install the full Adobe Reader for Windows, not the special Adobe Reader Touch for Windows 8.
Then you will have the same features as a desktop.
Unless they can't be accessed in touch mode, since it isn't a touch app.
