Viewing photos in the Filmstrip

I was scrolling through the filmstrip - in loup view - seeing each photo large enough for me to rate them. One photo on the strip become highlighted brighter and strip is now stuck on that photo. I have tried selecting other photos in the strip, the escape key, going to a different file folder, even opening and closing lightroom 4 and I am still stuck on this one photo. Anyone understand this?

If you didn't import them to Photos or copy them to the hard drive there will be no way to recover them.

Do you mean at icloud.com you can't see your photos? If so then that's normal. They are only viewable on Macs running iPhoto 9 or later and on mobile devices running iOS 7.
So where are you not seeing the photos and what system and iPhoto versions are you using?

Cannot view photos in the stream on iPhone 6 but can with my other 4 iOS devices

I just purchased an iPhone 6 and the setup smooth but one thing..photo stream. I can take pictures and they go in the stream and I can view from my other iOS devices but I cannot view photos taken with other devices on the iPhone 6. All use the same iCloud ID.

Try these steps first if the Photo Stream on one of your PCs is not updating:
you can't connect to the Internet, iCloud Photos will not be able to send or receive updates to My Photo Stream. If necessary, troubleshoot your Internet connection on your PC, Mac, or iOS devices.
Open the iCloud Control Panel and make sure that you're signed in to the same iCloud account that you're using on your other supported devices.
In Windows 8.1, go to the Start screen, click the down arrow in the lower-left corner, then click the iCloud app.
In Windows 8, go to the Start screen, and click the iCloud tile.
In Windows 7, choose Start menu > All Programs > iCloud > iCloud.
Make sure that iCloud Photos or Photo Stream is turned on in the iCloud Control Panel. Click the Options button and make sure that My Photo Stream is turned on.
Close and reopen the iCloud Control Panel.
Restart your computer. This may sound simple, but it does reinitialize your network and application settings and can frequently resolve issues.

If you've deleted them from your phone, they may have been removed from your back up, if you have them in photo stream, you should recover them as quickly as possible.

Is there a way for GPS coordinates to override a 'places' tag when viewing photos on the map?

I like to have 'places' tags for all of my photos in Elements Organizer so I can filter photos without the map view. The problem is that some of my photos already have GPS information from my camera. When I tag a photo that has EXIF geo data with a 'places' tag, it moves the photo on the map to the less specific lat/long of the tag and no longer uses the lat/long of the photo itself. I would like to use the data EXIF data from the photo, if it exists, rather than the lat/long from the places tag.
Alternately, it would be cool if Elements would auto-create places tags based on the lat/long from a photos EXIF data. That would also solve my conflict between places tags and EXIF data from the photo.
Any ideas? Am I out of luck?

Why don't you just put a passcode lock on the phone so no-one else can use it when you're not around?
You can look at the history in Safari, but that won't prevent someone from clearing the history and cookies after they use it.

How can I view photos on the iPad in order of the name of the photo instead of the date the photo has been taken

On the PC I edited the "file"names of photos in a photo-album, so that the photos are in a logical order after the file names. When I synchronise this photos with the iPad, they are shown on the iPad in the chronological order when the photo has been taken.
How can I pursue the iPad to show the photos in the order of the "file"names of the photos instead of the order after the date of the photo?

Thanks for the answer. Wouldn't it be a nice feature on the iPad if you can choose on the iPad itself in which order the photos should be sorted -> for instance after capture date, after filename or after sorting in iPhoto

I have just upgraded to PSE 12. I cannot view photos in the Organiser how do I make them appear?

I can see the hourglass only. Eventually and for no logical reason they do appear but may disappear just as quickly. In PSE 9 I would just click on 'show all'. How do I do it in PSE 12?

Have you given PSE enough time to generate all the thumbnails? It can take a very long time if you have a big catalog. If you're sure that's not it, try selecting a thumbnail and pressing F5. If it generates an image, then select all and do the same thing.

Since upgrading to IOS 5 on iPhone 4, my Windows XP files directory will not view photos on the iPhone.

Has this feature been removed or is there a setting I need to make for the xp file system to see the iPhone when connected via USB port?

I updated my unlocked iPhone 4 to iOS5.
My iPhone 4 was factory unlocked, so arrived unlocked, and has always been.
There was no issues with the update.
My iPhone 4 is still unlocked.

Can't view a photo in the iphoto library

I have a photo that was uploaded to my computer a couple of days ago. It's file location is within the iPhoto library ~ Previews ~ 2012~ 03~01 etc., etc.
However, when I launch iPhoto, the picture isn't anywhere to be found. Where is it? Is there a setting that I need to change somewhere to view photos in the Preview folder? Do I need to change a setting so that my photos are uploaded to a different location?

iPhoto is looking for th Master of the file. Where's that?

What are the options for viewing photos with Apple TV 2?

I have an old Apple TV, and load the family photos on the Apple TV itself. On the Apple TV 2, I know you can connect to MobileMe and Flickr.
Aside from MobileMe and Flickr, are there other options for viewing photos on the new Apple TV? Can you stream them from a Mac, or can you stream them from an iPhone/iPad?
If so, how is this initiated from the Apple TV, Mac, or iPhone/iPad?

You can stream from a Mac via itunes selection (iPhoto events or a folder) - it has 8GB of solid state temporary storage, but quite how things are cached/flushed from here is a bit of a mystery - you cannot say designate 2GB to hold photos or prioritise photos over other material.
Even rentals seem to flush if you've watched them and they haven't expired - relative fell asleep during a rental yesterday so i suggested she watched it today and it downloaded from scratch again, and the AppleTV hadn't had anything but music playing in the interim. Silly this really. There's a post on another section where someone used 17GB of their data allowance to watch a HD movie as it kept reloading!
Yes you can stream photos from iPod/iPad using Airplay, but to be honest i don't think ATV2 offers that much over ATV1 for photos (yet anyway), and in some ways it's inferior.
ATV2 is far more responsive/uses less power etc but I'm not convinced you get anything groundbeaking unless you have a lot of guests who could use it via Airplay from their iphones (and with ipads currently without cameras, photos would have to come from somewhere else in the first place).

Sending Photos from the Camera App

So, I know for a fact that this existed in iOS 6, but it does not any more in iOS 7. I was just wondering if there was an option to put back the share button while viewing photos from the camera app? I used to use it all the time, but now, I have to go elsewhere and it makes more steps.

That's a feature they might add down the line, but I don't believe it is possible now.
I'm going to guess at their reasoning for it - if your phone is locked and someone else besides you gets ahold of it, do you really want them to be able to access not only your messages but also your social network?

Quicklook (column view) crashing finder when viewing photos

My Finder is freezing when I am viewing photos in the column view. It works fine in list, cover flow, and thumbnail. Any ideas as to why the column view quicklook might be causing it to freeze?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Try the easy fix first: launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed and follow the instructions to rebuild the library. Select the last three options.
