Viewing photos with Remote

This isn't issues isn't precisely print related, but it is the most relevant support area for iPhoto:
I have recently purchased a 17" iMac and it is working quite wonderfully, almost. I have put all my music into iTunes and have transferred many photos into iPhoto, where I have been editing them. I can see the photos in iPhoto, I have played slideshows of the photos and will soon order prints. The problem arises with the media menu, accessable when I use the provided Apple Remote. I can play iTunes music through this menu (the 4 media icons arranged in a circle), but when I choose "iPhoto" it tells me to add photos to the Library. Since I have been using iPhoto, and all the photos are accessable through "Library" when accessing through desktop I don't know what the problem is- please advise.

After reading many many other posts, I was able to solve the problem myself. The problem in Front Row occurs because the pictures were imported from Picasa with keywords. iPhoto attempted to do my a favour by carrying all the keywords over, but corrupted the information in the XML file. The solution is to "use keyword manager and delete ALL keywords" in iPhoto.
Front Row is now working quite well!

What are the options for viewing photos with Apple TV 2?

I have an old Apple TV, and load the family photos on the Apple TV itself. On the Apple TV 2, I know you can connect to MobileMe and Flickr.
Aside from MobileMe and Flickr, are there other options for viewing photos on the new Apple TV? Can you stream them from a Mac, or can you stream them from an iPhone/iPad?
If so, how is this initiated from the Apple TV, Mac, or iPhone/iPad?

You can stream from a Mac via itunes selection (iPhoto events or a folder) - it has 8GB of solid state temporary storage, but quite how things are cached/flushed from here is a bit of a mystery - you cannot say designate 2GB to hold photos or prioritise photos over other material.
Even rentals seem to flush if you've watched them and they haven't expired - relative fell asleep during a rental yesterday so i suggested she watched it today and it downloaded from scratch again, and the AppleTV hadn't had anything but music playing in the interim. Silly this really. There's a post on another section where someone used 17GB of their data allowance to watch a HD movie as it kept reloading!
Yes you can stream photos from iPod/iPad using Airplay, but to be honest i don't think ATV2 offers that much over ATV1 for photos (yet anyway), and in some ways it's inferior.
ATV2 is far more responsive/uses less power etc but I'm not convinced you get anything groundbeaking unless you have a lot of guests who could use it via Airplay from their iphones (and with ipads currently without cameras, photos would have to come from somewhere else in the first place).

View photos with a specific tag only

I am using Adobe Photoshop Elements 11. How do I view only photos with a SPECIFIC tag, without photos that do not have that tag, but is included in a STACK. It seems that once a photo is included in a stack it is shown even if it does not contain the specific tag that is filtered. I find this very frustrating and hope that somebody can help me.

Because of this situation I cannot make use of stacks in my catalogue, because then the filtering option is useless.
I don't know how you are using stacks, but for me it's a very rare problem. I would like it solved, but it does not bother me very often. The problem arises when the items in a stack don't have the same tags. That should not happen if you create stacks before assigning tags.
I think it would help if you described your own way to use stacks to convince Adobe that an upgrade is necessary.

How to switch which program to view photos with?

I have a Droid Razr. From the camera program when I click on photo in the upper right hand corner to view my gallery, it appears the gallery is opening with google photos instead of gallery. The google photos app dims the back lighting on the photos making it difficult to view. I would like to switch back to viewing photos using gallery, but can't figure out how to switch back to that program by default.

I spent several hours on the phone with VZW last night for this very issue. They had no idea how to fix it.
Ann154 is correct. However, I have a Galaxy Nexus, and for me, I went to Settings>Apps and cleared the defaults for the
Google+ app and that is what resolved the issue for me. Just trying to help get the word out for anyone else who may be as
frustrated as I was.

How to View Photos with Music

A friend has Apple TV and has downloaded his pictures and music to his Apple TV. He does a slide show, with music. Both random. The pictures show a a random collection of multiple photos on the screen at one time. They apparently might not even each be the same size on the screen. Thus it is not a slide show. I have tried to replicate this at an Apple store and we stumped the staff. I tired again today at another Apple store.
The closest I can come to replicating this view showing multiple slides at one time is the screen saver on Apple TV.
Is there a different way to show multiple slides at one time, with music randomly, playing from the ITuens phto library.

Your friend may have created a movie out of photos, you could do virtually anything with a movie.

IPod - view photos with diff music

I have several diff photo albums on my ipod. I have it set to playmusic.
But I would like to play different music with the different photo albums(not random songs but a specific, diff song for each specific photo album). It plays the same song for all of the photo albums).
Any help is appreciated.

In slide show settings, set the music to "Now Playing". Then start playing a song on your iPod, but as soon as it starts, pause it. Then go into your photos, find the album, start the song and then start playing the slideshow.

View Photos in Nokia 1520

Hi,
I am using Nokia 1520, while taking photos and viewing it, it is said that it will show only a 5MP photo in the phone (easy for sharing). My question here is how to view the original 20 MP High Quality pictures? Even i tried connecting to PC and searched for it but not able to find any.

Welcome to the forum!
Did you use the default camera app to take the 5MP images? If yes, you can use the Nokia Camera app to take and view photos with higher resolution. Just launch the Nokia Camera app, tap More (...) > Settings. You can change the Capture mode from JPEG (5MP) to JPEG (5MP)+(19MP for 4:3 Aspect ratio, or 16MP for 16:9). This means that though the Lumia 1520 has a 20MP camera sensor, the maximum resolution that it can take is 19MP.
Once you take photos using Nokia Camera, you can try viewing the high resolution images using a PC.

double clicking in iPhoto will open the photo.
The left and right arrow key will move between photos, as well as swiping on a trackpad or Apple mouse.
See >System Preference>Trackpad or mouse for options and tut
While selected or in the smaller icon view hitting the Delete key will delete the pic.
Command Z will undo the last action taken.
Periodically you have to empty the iPhoto trash. iPhoto drop down menu>empty trash
Same applies for viewing pics in a Folder NOT in iphoto, Use the up and down arrows does not work in Preview, but as you know in QuickLook (spacebar) the up and down arrows will navigate.

Cannot view photos in the stream on iPhone 6 but can with my other 4 iOS devices

I just purchased an iPhone 6 and the setup smooth but one thing..photo stream. I can take pictures and they go in the stream and I can view from my other iOS devices but I cannot view photos taken with other devices on the iPhone 6. All use the same iCloud ID.

Try these steps first if the Photo Stream on one of your PCs is not updating:
you can't connect to the Internet, iCloud Photos will not be able to send or receive updates to My Photo Stream. If necessary, troubleshoot your Internet connection on your PC, Mac, or iOS devices.
Open the iCloud Control Panel and make sure that you're signed in to the same iCloud account that you're using on your other supported devices.
In Windows 8.1, go to the Start screen, click the down arrow in the lower-left corner, then click the iCloud app.
In Windows 8, go to the Start screen, and click the iCloud tile.
In Windows 7, choose Start menu > All Programs > iCloud > iCloud.
Make sure that iCloud Photos or Photo Stream is turned on in the iCloud Control Panel. Click the Options button and make sure that My Photo Stream is turned on.
Close and reopen the iCloud Control Panel.
Restart your computer. This may sound simple, but it does reinitialize your network and application settings and can frequently resolve issues.

Problems with Front Row, listening to Music and view Photos

My new imac is experiencing problems while in frontrow. If I am listening to music through itunes and then go to view photos at the same time the computer freezes for minutes on end before coming up with an error message about not being able to access the photos. When I finally manage to get out of front row, iphoto is opened up on my desktop. Is anyone else having problems like this?

Yeah, I think, unfortunately thats the best solution to this. Disappointing though, this is the 2nd imac that I've had major issues with straight out of the box.

Close the pictures before you quit Preview. Cmd-opt-q will close all windows and quit. cmd-opt-w will close all windows and not quit.
Or, Disable automatically opening files that were left open in General System Preferences

How do I view my photos with Time machine?

I know this sounds stupid but I cannot see my photos when using time machine. I click on Iphoto library but nothing happens. What am I supposed to do? I can view my documents but not my photos.

Is there any way to actually view backed up photos on an external hard drive? I'm backing up photos with a new Macbook running Snow Leopard, but I'd like to be able to view the photos from other (older) computers using the same hard drive. How can I view the actual files? Or do I need to export them to the hard drive in a different way?

Files fine locally....disappearing header with remote view

This is the link to the header, which you can see a sliver of when viewing online. All works quite well when viewing locally in the Firefox. The problem is when it is viewed from the remote server.

The site was created in Dreamweaver and I used the z-index. See how their little heads overlap the header. I am assuming this is the problem. I tried using a static jpg version of the header, thinking it could be a conflict with the swf and z-index. It didn't fix it.

You may have a conflict of code interest... Looking at the source for the page I notice you have these two tags one after the other... <noscript>
</noscript> followed by a secondary section of Flash embedding code.
Those tags would normally be enclosing the entire secondary section of Flash code... being the <object> flash code </object> section that resides below them. Without those surrounding, that section of object code is in play, and it shouldn't be if the <script> flash code </script> is also in play, which it will be if the browser allows for javascript.
So a long story shortened... try moving that </noscript> tag to after the last </object> of the Flash section and see if that helps.
I also noticed that that second section of code is not what would normally be in the <noscript> section. It appears as though your code is using two different approaches to embedding Flash content. It is possible you could just elimintae this section of code I show below instead of what I suggested above.

Streaming Music needs to reconnect each time after viewing photos

I have 200Gb of music, so I stream this to my TV. Photos are obviously sync'd. However, to get to my photos, I have to go to the source menu, and choose TV (Since "Shauns Music" menu only says Movies, TVShows, Music, Podcasts, Settings and Sources. So I play
When I go back to Music, the connection is lost and I have to reconnect - i.e. I get "Loading Shauns Music". This takes 1 minute 15 seconds, which admittedly isn't that long, but when you have to waut every time you view photos and play music, it seems pretty unpleasant.
My iTunes and my TV are never off - isn't there some way I can "fix" the streaming connection?

I don't think it's an issue of the IP address. I think the behavior that is taking a long time is that it seems to be reading in the entire directory of your library in order to make subsequent browsing fast.
As annoying as the wait is, at least once it's over, it's very fast. You can scroll down an extremely long list of every song or artist and it accelerates faster and faster until you release the remote button at which point it nicely decelerates and stops.
I have a receiver that attaches an iPod directly with a special cable letting me scroll through its contents and select items via remote. At every selection point, there was a pause for it to load the next level. It couldn't scroll more than a few items before having to pause to reload. Now that was annoying.
It would certainly be nice if the Apple TV were smart enough to cache a library's contents, only re-loading if it's been changed, enabling a quick switch. Maybe they'll do that in the future?

Problem with remote rollover of images, please help.

I got some great help yeserday on how to set up remote rollovers for a image gallery. It all works great except for when you have the curser in between the thumbnail images at bottom, the 1st image that I placed in large photo spot shows up. Any thoughts on how to fix this? You have added a "Mouse Exit" action to each of the thumbnails which always replaces the big photo with the startup image 'outside.jpg' each time you leave a thumbnail.
(In source view you can see:
onmouseout="changeImages('big_photo','outside.jpg');return true"
for each of the thumbnails).
If you simply remove all "Mouse Exit" actions the big image that belongs to the last touched thumbnail remains visible even if you leave the thumbnail and until you touch another one.
This may be the effect you were searching for.
